And sure enough, Wattli is this neighborhood's identical replica of Cheers. On a sunny afternoon that quickly turned to rain, I ventured in with my friend Mark. I was the first one there, literally just me, the bartender and the cook. Had a little chit chat and a pineapple mule to get started. Although small, the decor and ambiance was warm, homey and tell-tale worn but well kept. This spot has been here for a while. The menu was simple. We had the wings and sampler platters. My oh my! Ordered another platter of wings! As scrumptious as they come. I got them plain with sweet chili sauce n blue cheese on the side. The sampler was also good but wasn't a fan of the spring rolls. Solid food, and value for your bucks. Aside from Mark and I, the bartender knew everyone who walked through the door by name. At about 5pm, the place was filling up with obvious neighbors and the like. Laughter, chatter, etc... I kid you not, just like Cheers. Loving the atmosphere, I was not ready to leave but had to pick up my fish from the fishmonger before 7pm closing. I will be back!!! read more

So I'm headed home and decide to grab dinner at Wattli. There's a fair amount of people enjoying themselves. I've been here before but never wrote a review! My bad. The bartender/waiter knows me and brings over a glass of grimes red. I usually order their pan seared pork chop but on Friday I like to avoid meat so I order the pan seared salmon. It comes and it is delicious. It is glazed and comes with Mac n cheese and green peas. Wow nice flavor I like this no frills place. Will be back again! read more

This place is in my neighborhood so I've stopped in a few times. Most recently I came with my girlfriend, who was in town visiting. It has never been too packed inside so I'm always seated immediately upon arrival. For drinks, we both got the spicy margarita. It's really tasty and has a nice jalapeño kick. That's usually my go to and favorite drink out of all of the drinks I've tried. I've also had the pineapple mule, which I really enjoyed. For food, I really like the shrimp sliders. The shrimp is always juicy and nicely seasoned against the grilled bread. The chicken wings are pretty good too. They always come out hot and crispy. The scallion pancakes are really yummy too. Just use a napkin to take out the excess oil and you're good! I'm happy Wattli is in the neighborhood and looking forward to trying other menu items. read more

Bartender jerry is great. Drinks was on point and very informative. I would come back here. Chill vibes and quick service. My shrimp tacos were delicious!! I loved that this bar had a very family like vibe to it, everyone seem to know everyone. It wasn't loud and everyone was friendly, even the customers. Food took a minute to come out but the bartender explained it was because they had a large party of 7. The few times I have passed this place, it is because I needed something nearby (something from milk and honey or visiting the usps Newkirk station). However, I am a part for skymiles dining where you can get Delta miles for eating at certain restaurants. Wattli was one of the places mentioned that does dine in for points. So I had to go soon. I went in the late afternoon because I was planning to have a bigger dinner with a friend that same day. So I decided to order just fries and a spicy margarita. The fries were of the crinkle variety and I am surprised they didn't promote it as such because I know friends who would love to enjoy a crinkle fry instead of the general fries you would get at a bar. The margarita definitely didn't lie about the spice. Instead of having it with Tajín on the rim, it was all in the drink. So much so that I had to take a breaks between sips. It is not my type of spicy marg but at least it wasn't weak. In terms of ambience, definitely higher scale in terms of food options (salmon rice bowl and spicy ramen as an example) than a dive bar but not fancy at all. Since it is close to the Newkirk train station, I imagine it more to be a place you would go after getting off of work to chill before heading home for the night read more

Hubby & I tried out this cool fusion spot awhile ago the last time we flew to NY. We are from Cali, so we are familiar with traditional Asian cuisines . I liked how this restaurant combines both flavors from Asian & American culture, to create a new palette for your taste buds. You can mix and match your dishes for fun. We had their bbq chinese pork rice (yummy), tried their cheese ravioli (I love cheese)!!, rice bowl with edamame and corn, and had their spring shrimp rolls. Who knew one spot could serve up some cozy Asian meals and yet still let you splurged on American treats as well! Neat spot if you're in the area. I'll def go back! read more

UPDATE: Support this place, love this place, allow it to grow and turn into the community staple that this neighborhood deserves! A great addition to the neighborhood and in the best location. Everyone who works there is extremely friendly and helpful, I've only been a few times but the owner knows my name already. Scallion pancakes and the wings are the only food I've tried so far but they were DELICIOUS. The sauces with the pancakes were great and the wings were perfectly crunchy. The buffalo sauce on the side is great since it lets you decide how much crunch and sauce you get in each bite. Cocktails are simple but great, they don't have a ton of beers on draft but they're new and growing so I'm sure more will come. Let's make sure we support these guys and show them love so they can prosper (especially once their patio open) read more

This a nice spot, not too far from home. It was a warm summer evening when l went with a few friends from out of town. There is indoor seating and outdoor seating. The outdoor seating is in the front and in the back. It was a nice breeze out, so we went for the back, plus it was a bigger seating area. The service was excellent. We had wings and cocktails. Spicy margaritas are very spicy and pleasant not a glass of ice with 2 sips a real proper drink. Small but nicely stocked bar. Asked to be moved to outside sidewalk seating on a a hot humid day. Finally got to try my neighborhood restaurant . Went on a Sunday Came early wasn't crowded. Had the spicy coconut mojito it was very tasty with just the right amount of heat . My sister had the pineapple mule she said it was very good . We both had the chicken and waffles . It was tasty with the honey mustard sauce. Always want to help out the local business. Welcome addition the neighborhood! This was a labor of love that we've waited quite a bit for. The first thing I loved about this place, aside from how welcoming and attentive the staff are, is that the stools at the bar are adjustable height. That's a nice touch :) I enjoyed the well made cocktails and sampled the menu. The seared tuna was perfectly cooked, the fried ravioli are phenomenal and the red sauce was SO good I only wish I had more. The wings were crunchy perfection but by then I was so full I had to take a few to go. It's a relaxed vibe, family friendly with a good layout to maximize the space. Unparalleled service and flavorful food - I've been in this neighborhood since I was born and I can honestly say that this is the best restaurant and bar to ever open in this area! They have a variety of seating options - whether you want a high table, something low and cozy, a bar seat, or an outdoors venue. The chef clearly knows what he's doing, since our food was AMAZING. We got the breakfast burger off the brunch menu and a crispy shrimp hero off the hero and paninis section of their standard menu - both did not disappoint, and came with the crispiest, krinkle-iest fries on the block. This is the quintessential neighborhood bar, where they know your name, they're glad you came, or at least they act like it, and the food is unexpectedly good, especially if you like shrimp, although everything is good and fresh. Portions are generous, even the appetizers, which are enough for a whole meal. You can just sit here and relax. It's a no pressure place.
