I've been here twice for live music, once for a jazz band and once for an acoustic solo guitarist. Ate outside in the summer and tonight just a beer at the bar, such a welcoming warm spot on a freezing night. Music was great on both occasions, and food and drinks were always on point. We will surely be back.

Had a craft market event there and it's a lovely space! Staff was attentive to all who were vending there and as a patron, food was delicious. I heard drinks were special too! Will go back for sure.

If you need a cafe to read and drink delicious coffee, I recommend Bad Therapy. I was in the Kensington area and I saw a lot of customers going into this place. I ordered the cold brew and it was top notch. It was strong and they didn't add too much ice. The vibe here is ideal to do work on your laptop. You can also grab a book from the bookcase and sit on the sofa. They have fast WiFi and a unisex bathroom.

"Focaccia with olives and grapes"

Staff was awesome. But the wine pour was so small and then the "focaccia with olives and grapes" was sliced bread with those on the side. It's tasty enough but should not be called Foccacia or be $8

For the past couple of weeks, I have passed by this place on Cortelyou while on the B103. As it was empty for quite a bit, I was happy to see it being revived in some form. And I was happy to see another coffee option in the neighborhood. So I finally had the chance to get inside. If you are familiar with Poética coffee (the group of cafes across Brooklyn) you wouldn't be surprised to know Bad Therapy is connected to them. You could tell since Bad Therapy offers familiar items like the Poética drink (SIGNATURE LATTE WITH BROWN SUGAR AND VANILLA), they have their 50% deals on Wednesdays and they offer distinct food items such as the macarons. I like the Poetica coffees I have visited and things they do (mini book exchanges, general vibe) so this development was nice to see. The general vibe I would call it dark comfy. It is a moody lighting (not too dark to work and read in) with wooden chairs and couches and interesting art. They also have a backyard and a library shelf. They also have WiFi available. The person manning the coffee was extremely nice and helped to answer my question. The service was relatively quick though I don't know if it would be different at other times of the day. Since they opened in January, I can't wait to see when they expand the concept by adding a bar (especially with wine since King Mother has shut down) and live music especially since on the same street there used to be a place with live music. Overall I could put this place in my roster.

Michelle's is ALWAYS clean, well stocked and full of Panamanian pride. I'm not Panamanian or Caribbean, but one need not be to feel what it means to have a place to gather where folk understand you, celebrate you and welcome you. I certainly wish a younger sect will discover this place and respect it enough to want to see it remain forever. Now, I do wish they'd bring someone on to introduce some classic cocktails and how to execute them. Some of the ingredients they use for cocktails have fallen out of favor long ago. Keep shining Team Michelle's!!!

I had some amazing conversations and met some really great people. That bar was The Old Gallery. And this gives me those vibes except it's less divey, more Caribbean food with a West Indian vibe. That's my people so I fit right in. The bartender is great. We had amazing conversations. The other patrons were friendly and the drinks were uncomplicated. Just straight up, just the way I like it. Vodka Cran please! Light on the Cran! I came here after grocery shopping at Stop & Shop. And once after I got a tattoo. Hey! Don't judge me! It was tiny! Like one of those from a Cracker Jack box. Anyway, it's no frills but also just what I needed. I haven't had the food but it always smells amazing and everyone says it's really good. I'm sad I didn't get to back for the past few weeks. Now indoor dining is shutting some places down. I really hope these beloved places survive and we all can see each other on the other side with a shot in hand and a smile. Really solid neighborhood joint. I first heard of this place featured from an episode on Eater with…read moreGeorge Motz saying he loved coming here, funny enough the day I went, which was 1/24/26, George was eating dinner at the bar. It's a cute place, nothing fancy but a place you really can come hang out any day of the week. If I lived in the area I could see my myself ending up here any day of the week. I guess that's why when I went with fellow Yelper Sara L she said she has gone many times and wanted to take me since she knew I would enjoy it. The food: Gebackene Champignons- Fried Mushrooms- OK to preface they are kinda plain and boring the first few pieces. But the more I ate it the more I was like wow, these are actually good and kinda addictive. I enjoyed these and I enjoyed they gave a nice big portion. https://www.yelp.com/user_local_photos?userid=Y_iTTjKvV5hLy-880SZzlA&select=wXMnSOv4x6gNG-gHh3t40Q Potato Latkes- These were on the specials page and they were good, nice crunchy and fried well but these were mixed with something since the taste was a bit different and the color wasn't that nice golden brown color you associate with latkes. Goulash- This was a dish George had and honestly, they were amazing. Highly recommend. I thought the flavor but more importantly the texture was amazing. A lot of times when you have slow cooked beef, they could sometimes get stringy and chewy, no not here. Also the spätzle was a really great pairing. Mussels- These were some fat ass mussels. The flavor of them was good, the night I went they were spicyyyyyyy. This was a well made dish and i appreciate their creativeity but I do prefer a simple garlic shallot butter and white wine where I want to drink the broth afterwards. The broth on this was too spicy too drink. Roasted Boneless Pork Chop- Pork chops are always a gamble and the one here was just OK. The sauce it came in was nice, kind on the heavy side but a delcious cream sauce. The pork was cut super thin and unfortunely they came out dry and chewy. The fries were a nice shoestring fry which were nice and crunchy. https://www.yelp.com/user_local_photos?userid=Y_iTTjKvV5hLy-880SZzlA&select=14_-Katrn9Glu-wA65-CHg

The salvaged wood interior and candlelit ambiance create this inviting space that feels both historic and lived-in. It's cozy enough for a relaxed family dinner but still feels special. We've worked our way through quite a bit of the menu over the years. The mushroom tagliatelle is rich and satisfying, the crispy chicken sandwich hits the spot, and the charred orange cauliflower couscous topped with smoked salmon is a real standout--beautifully balanced. The pan-fried okra and fried shrimp are great for sharing, and the rainbow beet salad adds a nice fresh note. I also appreciate how kid-friendly they are without dumbing anything down. My kids are happy with their chicken poppers and quesadilla while we enjoy the more adventurous stuff. The place is named after Jacques Cortelyou's famous 17th-century map of Manhattan, and somehow that history feels present without being gimmicky. It's just a really solid neighborhood spot that makes you appreciate Ditmas Park. Cortelyou Road has a lot to offer; The Castello Plan is a great option to grab a tasty bite while exploring the neighborhood. Extra point for a killer music selection the night we visited, featuring Foo Fighters, David Bowie, Queen, Dire Straits, Red Hot Chili Peppers, Simple Minds, Eric Clapton, and more! ------------------------------- [1] https://www.yelp.com/biz/ditmas-park-halloween-house-brooklyn

I found the service impolite and dismissive. And the coffee pod, yes a COFFEE POD AT A CAFÉ is outrageous. Well aside from me noticing a bit to late to stop the process I watched her make it and seen the liquid coming out beige at best. I actually thought she was running a cleaning of the machine, because the color just wasn't the color even a blond roast would be. I mentioned it looked light, to which she replied it's not light it's black coffee it's dark. Well I took my sip, left a dollar tip and left the coffee on the counter. With the myriad of cafes in Brooklyn these days, I would have been better with mud from the bodega.
