Tried out this little coffee shop on Saturday and picked up drinks for my work team. I really enjoyed it. I got an iced decaf almond milk latte and it was delicious. Whatever brand they use for almond milk was good. I feel like it's hit or miss with alternative milks depending on the quality of product they're using. Everyone else seemed to enjoy their drinks as well. Cute little coffee shop. I didn't get to try any of the food because we were just there for drinks. Was in the neighborhood because we were going to eat at Ugly baby next door. It wasn't open yet so we popped in for some coffee. The baristo was a happy fella and made our drinks quickly. I got a iced chai latte with almond milk, it needed some sugar which you can find at the self bar. There is plenty of seating and it was very clean. I had the worst experience a few weeks ago. Barista did not look happy when I arrived. He told me they were out of almost all the different kind of milks and then proceeded to make me a small latte because they were out of bigger cups but insisted I was getting the same amount. Quick and pleasant service. We recently visited this establishment and ordered a cold brew coffee with oat milk and chai latte with oat milk. It was pricey at approximately $13 for both drinks. There are 2 benches outside and some available spots for indoor seating. The cold brew was very good but the chai latte could have used some more spice as it was greatly lacking in flavor. read more

DISAPPOINTMENT! I live in Carroll Gardens, and I always want to support our local businesses. I received a marketing email, touting the sangria and Patio at Brooklyn Habit. I stopped by today, planning to have a sandwich and a glass of wine. I had perused their menu online and found several sandwiches that were interesting. When I arrived, I was told there were no sandwiches, no salads, only a few pastries from the morning. My boyfriend and I have been here a few times and it never disappoints! The employees are very nice and friendly and their drinks are great! I've mixed it up and ordered an oat latte and chai (both delicious) but my boyfriend always gets their iced mocha. He says it's his favorite mocha he's ever gotten! (It's his usual order at coffee shops). He's not wrong. Besides the espresso being top notch, I think they use dark chocolate and it's very delicious! More of a treat than grabbing a cup of joe, but we'll keep going back for sure! Oh also! This is one of my favorite coffee shops in the neighborhood! The coffee is always flavorful, and they have lots of seating inside. It's really close to the F/G subway line, and they have pastry options, as well. They're very mindful of dietary restrictions and have lots of different types of milks to choose from. The coffeeshop is situated on the corner lot of a block and has big windows on both of the street-facing sides. It's a great place to people-watch while enjoying your coffee! read more

Very good little local coffee shop that has recently expanded to offer wine and (real) food. Also has a number of pastries for sale as well as teas, etc. Coffee is okay, not as good as East One in my opinion but it's closer to home so I usually end up going here anyway. Slightly overpriced for coffee but they have a rewards/stars system so you can get free drinks periodically if you go as frequently as I do. Last time I went, I had one of their teas (it was actually a mixture of teas, I believe hibiscus and something else) and I thought it was absolutely incredible. Baked goods are not baked on the premises (at least as far as I know - I think the doughnuts are from Doughnut Plant) but they're good nonetheless. I grabbed a cream-filled beignet along with my tea and thought it was incredible. My boyfriend loves the little individual cake loaves that they sell. Employees are very friendly. There's a decent amount of seating on the inside near a big row of windows so you can work with some natural light. Will return. read more

I'm general I really like this place. Simple stuff, it's always good. The set up is touch free, and so at the end of the transaction they ask is you want to leave a tip on the card. I can't leave a tip every time I get a cup of coffee. And it is a bit uncomfortable to say no. Put up a sign that says let us know if you want to tip. This is why I only come once every few weeks, I forget about how uncomfortable this exchange makes me. Not everyone in the neighborhood is bougie. read more

Grabbed coffee to-go at Brooklyn Habit on Thursday morning. Good coffee, but a little disappointed in the size, especially for the price. They set themselves apart by offering wine and beer later in the day, which shifts the vibes of the shop. Quality: Brooklyn Habit is a unique coffeeshop that advertises both coffees and wine. It follows a bistro style with pastries throughout the day and drinks to match your mood. I visited for a morning coffee and it was fine. I believe they use La Colombe coffee, and I was happy with the flavor, though it was much smaller than I hoped. Not sure if I would come back later in the day for a alcoholic beverage, but maybe if looking for a place to work when the inside is reopened it may become natural. Quantity: The large is what I think of as a regular, so if you are looking for a coffee to last a while this is not the one. Value: $4.25 for a Large Cold Brew. Ambiance: Brooklyn Habit is located on the border of Gowanus and Carroll Gardens. It is a little south of where the shops and restaurants show up on Smith Street. It sits on a corner near residential homes, and occupies a good sized space. They are operating out of a long open window on the side of the shop, but usually have plenty of indoor seating. They have a recently constructed an outdoor area along the side, which typically has tables and chairs out, but I must have been a little too early on this day. The one issue is the lack of umbrellas or shade, which will be needed during the summer months. Crowd: There were two people ahead of me on line grabbing coffee. It was a warmer day, but usually you will find a few folks enjoying their breakfast in the little outdoor area. Service: They are continuing to operate out of the window set-up even with many COVID restrictions lifted. You order outside and the barista is set back and only interacts to hand-off your food and drinks. Parking: Plenty of street parking around the shop. read more

When you add in yummy pastries and sandwiches to the relaxed and sunny vibe of BKLYN Habit you realize why it was so needed. In the very near future they're also going to appease your evening habits with wine, beer & tapas. You might even forget about your table at Ugly Baby (just two doors down)! Friendly owners, free WiFi, and a boho modern airy design make you feel at home morning, noon & eve. Nice touches like hooks under the table or acoustic foam to dampen the noise add to the appeal. The outdoor seating that will be available in the summer will be a relaxing respite. Pull up a stool and stay a while. read more

SHAKE YOUR OATMILK!!!!! it's hilarious to me that the two baristas I unfortunately always have (over 5'8", white, females; one w short hair) never ever ever shake the oat milk before they pour it into my coffee. It's just white water, when you don't. So okay, I try to just pour it myself.. I ask. I'm met with a dismissive eyeroll. Okay. Can you shake it for me please? Just one quick flick. It does nothing. She's visibly annoyed I had the gaul to ask. Not sure why these two are always so annoyed to be taking orders. I come in with a smile and pleases and thank yous. Perhaps, you shouldn't be working in a forward facing position. You can talk with ur coworker and ignore customers somewhere else. I enjoyed this spot very much. It's opened late, which makes it convenient for Carroll gardens (everything usually closes early). They have multiple options for food and drinks. I would definitely stop by again. Side note- I ordered the rock shrimp with garlic sauce. It would be a lot better if they gave me a side of rice. 5 stars for stocking Doughnut Plant doughnuts, 0 stars for the $5 iced coffee that was mostly ice - as in almost 90% ice and 10% weak watery coffee. Not even cold brew concentrate, just flat out old watery coffee. Holy poop did I throw money away. If the prices changed - maybe I'd return, but that was outright insanity and I might just be shocked enough never to try again. However, bypassing the pricing concerns: The space looks really nice and relaxing. I really appreciated that this cafe opened quite early (before 7:30 am prior to pandemic) and was quiet for working. The first time I went to this cafe, the young barista clearly wasn't paying attention to my oat milk latte order, as she chatted along with her coworker, because she was using whole milk. I intervened due to the error, and the older woman barista made light of the situation, stating the young barista was "still waking up". I'm patient enough and really just wanted my coffee in peace, so I took it in stride. I frequented the cafe on several more occasions, however, the last time was during the lunch hour rush to meet someone. My friend purchased a drink and I was eating my own lunch in the cafe with her. Since at least one of us purchased something we figured it wouldn't be an issue. Boy were we wrong. After several minutes, the same young barista I mentioned earlier approached me stating I was not permitted to eat food from outside but in such a way that was so off-putting. So my friend and I vacated the premises. Frankly, I would have been happy enough to give them my business while I was at the cafe as I had done many times before but sadly not anymore after these two incidents. As one of my coworkers said about the cafe in passing, the coffee is never strong enough or hot enough; go to Nerd. I completely concur with that remark and I'll add that my interaction with the staff has certainly been tepid at best. read more

$5 for an iced coffee is GD ridiculous. I almost laughed when they said it so confidently. I drink cold brew iced coffee as a part-time job and no one (outside of nitro taps) charges that. And listen, if it was the best iced coffee I've ever had or could even crack the Top 5, I'd happily pay it. But, this isn't that. Not even close. This place just opened so I assume after enough passive-aggressive hipsters like me revolt by writing online reviews. Things could change. I really want to like this place because the space is great. Smartly laid out and comfortable. The music level is perfect. I could see myself spending a lot of time here and probably will while I order something else. tl;dr - Perhaps the best espresso in all of BoCoCa, chill atmosphere, friendly baristas. Let me start off by saying this place has great espresso. I have increasingly become more and more of a coffee snob and this place has gotten me spoiled. In an area with a bunch of top-notch coffee shops (Velvette Brew, East One, Blue Bottle, Absolute Coffee. Seeds of Love, etc.) this place draws me in (though usually only on the weekends because other places are closer/more conveniently-located by bike, with all the one-way streets). The first time I came here a few weeks ago, I noticed the difference in the first sip. The espresso is smooth, strong and very tasty, and NOT sour or acidic. The baristas are very friendly and chatty if you want them to be (though, if you dont feel like chatting, that's fine, too). I love sitting in the front window to people-watch (though there are not a ton of passersby). I always come in the mid-to-late afternoon and there has never been a crowd then. I look forward to them getting food other than pastries (since I am gluten/sugar-free). Life is stressful but this place is calming. Hanging here on a weekend day is a great way to decompress from the workweek. 5 star coffee, 5 star decor, 5 star atmosphere. read more

Good coffee and pastries but not friendly to non-regulars. In fact the barista was borderline rude on the morning I visited. She prepared coffee for three regular customers who came in after I did and was visibly anger when I asked her when my drink would be ready.
