Was in the neighborhood because we were going to eat at Ugly baby next door. It wasn't open yet so we popped in for some coffee. The baristo was a happy fella and made our drinks quickly. I got a iced chai latte with almond milk, it needed some sugar which you can find at the self bar. There is plenty of seating and it was very clean. I wish to try their food next time, I posted a menu so take a look!

My boyfriend and I have been here a few times and it never disappoints! The employees are very nice and friendly and their drinks are great! I've mixed it up and ordered an oat latte and chai (both delicious) but my boyfriend always gets their iced mocha. He says it's his favorite mocha he's ever gotten! (It's his usual order at coffee shops). He's not wrong. Besides the espresso being top notch, I think they use dark chocolate and it's very delicious! More of a treat than grabbing a cup of joe, but we'll keep going back for sure! Oh also! Pretty sure their cups and straws are compostable (even though my pictures attached are my own straw).

Large Cold Brew

Grabbed coffee to-go at Brooklyn Habit on Thursday morning. Good coffee, but a little disappointed in the size, especially for the price. They set themselves apart by offering wine and beer later in the day, which shifts the vibes of the shop. Quality: Brooklyn Habit is a unique coffeeshop that advertises both coffees and wine. It follows a bistro style with pastries throughout the day and drinks to match your mood. I visited for a morning coffee and it was fine. I believe they use La Colombe coffee, and I was happy with the flavor, though it was much smaller than I hoped. Not sure if I would come back later in the day for a alcoholic beverage, but maybe if looking for a place to work when the inside is reopened it may become natural. Quantity: The large is what I think of as a regular, so if you are looking for a coffee to last a while this is not the one. Value: $4.25 for a Large Cold Brew. Ambiance: Brooklyn Habit is located on the border of Gowanus and Carroll Gardens. It is a little south of where the shops and restaurants show up on Smith Street. It sits on a corner near residential homes, and occupies a good sized space. They are operating out of a long open window on the side of the shop, but usually have plenty of indoor seating. They have a recently constructed an outdoor area along the side, which typically has tables and chairs out, but I must have been a little too early on this day. The one issue is the lack of umbrellas or shade, which will be needed during the summer months. Crowd: There were two people ahead of me on line grabbing coffee. It was a warmer day, but usually you will find a few folks enjoying their breakfast in the little outdoor area. Service: They are continuing to operate out of the window set-up even with many COVID restrictions lifted. You order outside and the barista is set back and only interacts to hand-off your food and drinks. Parking: Plenty of street parking around the shop.

We split a bottle of one of the lightly chilled chiantis the Fiasco and it was perfection. We mainly got the winter specials which were the asparagus, smoked eel, duck salad and scallops which were all truly phenomenal. The scallop dish was quite small so not the best for sharing but the rest were all amazing. From the regular menu we got the mushroom toast which was absolutely delicious and great for sharing and the pork chop which is one of the best dishes I have ever had. The pork chop was cooked perfectly and was incredibly juicy. For dessert, we got the creme brûlée which I am also still thinking about and one of the best desserts I have ever had. Would absolutely come back!

Tasty cocktails but I do wish they had more options on the menu -- there are only 3 cocktails to order from. Half chicken with scallion ginger sauce was pricey for the portion size with no sides but perfectly cooked and seasoned. Chocolate dessert was also fantastic!

Everything on the menu looked amazing, so I had the waiter choose my dish/wine pairing and he did a great job! I got the pesto with shrimp. The pasta is handmade and the wine is natural from Italy. The pesto is made the day of in the morning. All fresh ingredients. They have indoor seating and then more seating in the back that is the perfect spot. I love the exposed brick wall. This might be my new favorite Italian spot. I will be back soon! Thank you for the amazing experience.

Instead of picking a wine from a menu, you tell your server the flavor and mood of wine you're looking for and they bring out glasses or a bottle for you based on that. The food here is delicious and I was happy to see gluten free pasta options. The pork ragu was good but I was truly impressed by how good the texture of the gluten free pasta was. For me, the show stopper was the branzino. It was seasoned perfectly and the potato crust was a fun touch. The salad was nice and simple, but didn't blow me away. Portion sizes were good, though the prices are on the higher side. The restaurant is a great place for a friends' night or date night, and I'd keep the group small or make a reservation in advanced because it gets busy. It is definitely a more expensive spot, but worth it!
