Grabbed a same-day reservation for bar seats and had a good dinner here. I tried the charred lemon skillet mussels, mushroom toast and Japanese sweet potatoes. The potatoes were my favorite. Nice neighborhood spot though I wouldn't necessarily go out of my way for it.

Amaro Flight

Wow! Incredible meal, front to back. We weren't super hungry so ordered four of the smaller plates. All fantastic with more notes below. Paired the meal with an Amaro flight which was an experience that I would recommend. Thanks so much to our servers, they were so knowledgeable of the menu and made the experience very enjoyable. -Eggplant Fries- not mushy, well fried, depth of flavor as a result to the mushroom powder in the batter -Trout Rillettes- perfect summer dish, fresh fish, add lemon to get a boost of flavor -Japanese Corn- so great!! complex flavors as well here, you think you know corn and then you try this and you realize you don't -Smoked Pollock- lovely small dish, clean, simple, not very very fishy so if you want something lighter this is the one for you

came here for a quick drink down the block from my apartment in Brooklyn we had no food, but the drinks were so good. The service was fantastic and the entrance was great.

Leland is a cute Asian-Mediterranean-American fusion place. It's classy (almost bordering pretentious), and very expensive at anywhere from $15-25 per appetizer or $35-55 per entree. Some of the dishes (like congee, which is, in my culture, about $2-3 a bowl elsewhere and can be easily made at home) were exorbitantly overpriced for what they were even if they are slightly elevated. The biggest draw to the restaurant is the ambiance and service, and the fact that they do everything in-house (supposedly, they even have their own bakery and butcher beneath the restaurant, according to our server). The food is also quite tasty and flavorful. We ordered a cornucopia of food (our friendly server recommended 8 dishes - 3 appetizers, 3 plates/small dishes, and 2 entrees - for our group of 6), which came out to nearly $270, and our entire group was still hungry enough to get dessert and a second meal (elsewhere). I probably wouldn't return due to the cost and portion sizes of the food. However, it makes for a nice date spot, as long as you're not hungry and willing to pay a pretty penny.

Discovered leland while looking for a brunch spot and was intrigued by their menu options. We walked in late morning on a weekend and put our name down for about an hour wait (which ended up being closer to 45 in actuality). It did look like they had reservations day of, so we probably could have gotten a spot a bit quicker if we actually booked a resy.. all good, we just hung out at a coffee shop nearby! We were seated at the bar and our server was quick to greet us and walk us through the menu. We opted to order the Pork Shank Hash (which was the reason we had chosen Leland to begin with!) along with the Laffne and the cinnamon bun. It is a little bit on the pricey side, though the ingredients are local and they have a big focus on sustainability, so wouldn't say this was a surprise. Cinnamon bun: very sweet and very citrusy. Rather large, baked in house. Solid but would say to make sure you're in the mood for citrus since it really comes out! Laffne: found this to be pretty unique compared to labnes I've gotten elsewhere. Good balance throughout, but was a bit messy to eat in the plate with the runny eggs, but we both enjoyed. Pork shank hash: perfectly cooked in my opinion, pork was very flavorful and the chef achieved the perfect crisp with the hash. Would absolutely order again!! Service was helpful and friendly, and food came out within a reasonable time frame. Didn't feel rushed, and we enjoyed the meal here. Would recommend and am likely to return for dinner or one of their events!

Mahjong on Wednesdays at Leland from 1-4pm. I popped in to check out the scene earlier this week. And the crew were very welcoming! They let me play a game which I won! I ordered a Vermouth from Spain which was delicious and a snack. The back room was filled with players and the restaurant provided the Mahjong sets! Convivial atmosphere!

Found this place on a whim on a Wednesday evening and waited about 20 minutes. We sat outdoors since it was a beautiful night. It was surprisingly quite busy for a Wednesday. We got: - Coppa: thought the cured pork would be salty but it was the complete opposite, it was sweet which was unexpected, my mind had to adjust to the opposing taste, it wasn't bad like honey drizzled pork but just an FYI - Charred lemon skillet mussels: the mussels were huge and meaty and the sauce was perfect to soak up the sourdough - Whole fried fish: the sauce was good, slightly tangy and it paired well with the fried fish. Also enjoyed the fennel salad and chili on the side, it provided a fresh crunchy kick - Italian greyhound cocktail: refreshing, would recommend Overall, service was attentive but a tad slow with the drinks. Otherwise, the food was on par.

Tortilla

Came here for brunch and was so impressed with the service and the food! The hot cider was well-spiced and delicious but the star of the show was the honey toast brûlée - it was absolutely delectable! The tortilla special was good too and had a unique trout aioli inside that really made the dish come to life. The food took a while but the staff kindly brought out some zucchini bread for the inconvenience which was really nice!

Visited LeLand for Brunch and very happy I had a made a reservation for a Saturday morning, which I was able to make earlier in the day. People walking in had wait times that seemed to be getting longer while we were able to snag our table outdoors. I love how LeLand is situated on a lovely corner in Prospect Heights, allowing for tons of natural light to flow into the restaurant. The outdoor seating also sprawled across the caddy cornered streets, making it feel like the spot to be for passersby. It was a busy Saturday brunch, but even with that we had great and friendly service. The cheddar jalapeño biscuit and deviled eggs were our starters and really set the tone for the tasty meal ahead. The biscuit was freshly made in house, and the butter had each of us fawning over every bite. The deviled eggs were also amazing, with the perfect softness but also slight crunch with what tasted like roe inside the egg. For drinks, we ordered the Bloody Mary, Vietnamese coffee with amaro, and some wine. Each beverage was exquisite, we ordered multiple. For mains we had the pork hash, laffa, and eggs diavolo with a side of bacon. The side of bacon had some maple syrup on it which made it even more delicious, and the mains themselves were all strong on their own. I only wish the portions were slightly bigger because of how good everything was. As we dusted off our plates, we were still hungry, so ordered the skillet cornbread to finish. The cornbread was perfectly crispy on the outside and soft and crumbly on the inside with tastes of honey seeping throughout the skillet. This was the ultimate chefs kiss way to end the meal.

Fresh pastries made in house!

Leland Eating and Drinking House is such a gem! Went for brunch and immediately fell in love with the cute, casual vibe--beautifully designed with that effortless farm-to-table charm. The Bloody Mary was perfect, and you can tell everything is made in-house with care. I had the tortang talong--fresh, flavorful, and perfectly cooked. But the star? That cinnamon roll with fresh orange zest. Unreal. Service was warm and attentive. Can't wait to come back.

Pork hash (bomb.com) and egg sausage sandwich (spicy!)

Pork hash was THE dish. Egg and sausage sandwich with potato bun was so flavorful and on the spicy side if that's what you're into Cocktails were good. Loved the outdoor covered seating area. Would love to go back for dinner and try the other dishes.

The food was really tasty, but the service for brunch was really slow. The ambiance was good - open and airy and in a nice neighborhood.

Everything on the menu looked amazing, so I had the waiter choose my dish/wine pairing and he did a great job! I got the pesto with shrimp. The pasta is handmade and the wine is natural from Italy. The pesto is made the day of in the morning. All fresh ingredients. They have indoor seating and then more seating in the back that is the perfect spot. I love the exposed brick wall. Instead of picking a wine from a menu, you tell your server the flavor and mood of wine you're looking for and they bring out glasses or a bottle for you based on that. The food here is delicious and I was happy to see gluten free pasta options. The pork ragu was good but I was truly impressed by how good the texture of the gluten free pasta was. For me, the show stopper was the branzino. It was seasoned perfectly and the potato crust was a fun touch. The salad was nice and simple, but didn't blow me away. Portion sizes were good, though the prices are on the higher side. The restaurant is a great place for a friends' night or date night, and I'd keep the group small or make a reservation in advanced because it gets busy. It is definitely a more expensive spot, but worth it!

Another exceptional visit to Theodora. Everything I said in my previous reviews still stands. The…read moreservice is top notch, the space is immaculate, and the systems and flow of the restaurant continue to impress. A few standouts this time around. The scallop crudo was a new addition for us and it did not disappoint. We also re-upped on the trout and the branzino, both of which were just as incredible as we remembered. The cocktail program deserves its own callout. Every single drink is so well balanced. I had a martini with a touch of anchovy vermouth that was hands down one of the best I've had. Our server Sarah was outstanding. She knew the menu inside and out and guided us through the entire experience with confidence and warmth. I genuinely believe Theodora is one of the best restaurants in New York. Not just because of the food, but because of the level of service across the board. Looking forward to coming back.

You can tell live-fire cooking is at the heart of everything they do, but what impressed me most was how intelligently they layered flavors on top of that foundation. Smoky, bright, rich, acidic, unexpected -- combinations that sound like they shouldn't work together somehow came together beautifully. The dry-aged fish especially was unreal. Beyond the food, the atmosphere was warm, intimate, and inviting without trying too hard. Cozy lighting, great energy, and a staff that genuinely made the experience feel personal and welcoming. This is the kind of restaurant that reminds you cooking is an art form. Easy 5 stars.
