Food: The food is amazing here! We ordered the cavatelli with sausage and sage brown butter as well as the braised short rib with polenta. Both delicious were so delicious, and we were very impressed. The cavatelli was cooked perfectly and so flavorful. The short rib was tender and melts in your mouth. I would highly recommend both of these dishes. On the menu, there are appetizers, salads, soups, sandwiches, pastas, and entrees. Service: Service was excellent. The staff was friendly and very attentive. Our server came back to check on us throughout the meal. Ambiance: The restaurant isn't big so it can fill up quickly during peak hours. In the warmer months, there is outdoor seating in their back patio. Good for both small and large groups. Overall, I would highly recommend this restaurant!

Lentil and Smoked Bacon Soup

Had the recommended cavatelli, a sausage and broccoli rabe sandwich, and a lentil soup. Burrata was listed under the salad menu but it was just the burrata and not a burrata salad so we got a simple arugula mozzarella salad instead. The cavatelli was fine I guess? A little oily with the brown butter and sausage together but not necessarily as lifechanging as other reviews seem to make it out to be. Both the sausage with the cavatelli and the sandwich had good flavor though. The bread/foccacia for the sandwich was good but maybe a little thin cut in half? Some sections of the sandwich had more weak spots that made it a little awkward to hold. The lentil soup I thought would've been a little thicker rather than lentils in soup? but that migh have just been me. Overall a nice space, especially watching the little kitchen while sitting at the bar.

Small intimate space but spacious at the same time. It's not crammed with tables in the dining area once you walk bast the bar area. When it's warm out there is the option to sit outside in the backyard area. My server was attentive checking in etc. We had an early reservation for 5:30 and when we left a little before 7 the place was busy . The friend I was dining with has a severe allergy to tomatoes and tomato based products and her mom fresh black pepper. Our server confirmed with the kitchen on both and was proactive which was fantastic. We started with the crostini. We ordered the chicken pate, mushroom and the honey and ricotta. Each one was lovely light and flavorful. For entrees Caesar salad Spinach Tagliolini with Romanesco Cauliflower Cavatelli with Hot Sausage and brown sage butter - amazing spicy and flavorful Tiramisu My friend's mom who was visiting was impressed with the experience. She was initially skeptical of the fact that I chose a restaurant that had them come from the UWS to the "wilds" of Brooklyn.

My husband and I have been patronizing Frankie's for many years now, some of those times being special occasions. We absolutely adore the exterior and appreciate the coziness but sometimes wish there was a bit more elbow room. Regardless, the Cavatelli and meatballs are some of our favorites. And we can't close out our meal without the prunes in mascarpone and warm red wine- tremendous! Look forward to many future return visits.

My boyfriend is the bee's knees. For Valentine's we went to the famous "Frankie's 457" in Carroll Gardens. I've been interested in going here for year's but never made it. This is my favorite kind of bougie restaurant. It does not feel pretentious here. There is no "foam" or essence." This is food at the highest quality. There is most definitely an Italian palette here. The clientele seems more like the casual, well to do CEO's of the northwest, not overdressed but high quality fabrics. Regulars, might I add, the people from the neighborhood, a very nice neighborhood. We made a reservation. On a Friday at 12:30 pm it was packed already. The bar was full and the tables were almost all full. The service could not be more spectacular. The gentleman really took care of us. He made sure he was taking care of us, without feeling overbearing. He was funny. I liked that he refilled our olive oil. I love that he made sure we soaked up the mozzarella tasting plate juice, exclaiming "it's the good stuff". I ordered a cocktail and my boyfriend got the German style "Rothaus" pilsner, both mind blowing. The sip of pilsner transported me back to Germany as a teen. We started with some bread and olive oil. Moved on to the mozzarella tasting plate. And then sampled the cremini and the chickpea crostini. Every bite better than the next. We also enjoyed the shaved brussel sprout salad. The entrees were delightful in every bite. I had a butternut squash with sage pasta pockets. And my boyfriend enjoyed the cavatelli and sausage. He's a hungry boy, it was more substantial and richer. I did not feel like sharing dessert but decided against the espresso. I ordered the crème brulee and my boyfriend got the tiramisu. Ohmygoodness. The tiramisu tasted better than any other tiramisu I've had before. Are these special cows that the cream comes from? What is the secret? The crème brulee was also out of this world. There are few places that feel like heaven on earth. Frankies is one of those places. My older brother would have loved this place. I wish I could take him there. There's a type of person that enjoys the fruits of life, and that' the kind of person that enjoys these kinds of places.

Benefit of the doubt it was maybe just an off day for the kitchen but I haven't been this disappointed with Italian food in a long time. For $35 and $29, respectively, I was dissatisfied with the cheap quality sloppily presented antipasto plate (lunch meat, soggy broccoli, and cauliflower thrown onto a plate) and Pappardelle with Braised Lamb Ragu. The noodles were bland, pasta sauce tasted store bought, and lamb tasted cheap and not seasoned- the prices were atrocious for these dishes. Other places across boroughs have significantly higher quality charcuterie and pasta for a fraction of the price (i.e. West Village, Park Slope, and Astoria Ditmars); for $29 I'm expecting at minimum fresh made ingredients. My friend's sandwich was okay. The wine list was extensive and I'd consider coming back just for a drink. Friendly and accommodating host and bartender and cozy vibes.

Pretty pricy. Still hungry.

I made reservations for a couple weeks from now but indoor was booked. Since it's going to be winter, does this place have enough heating elements for the outdoor dining area?

They've got two indoor dining areas and the outside which probably is about as big as both indoor areas combined, so I would have to say they would have sufficient number of heating elements. You may want to call them directly for this information.

Are small dogs plowed in the back?

How busy is it around 4:00 pm on a Saturday? Want to take my niece for an early dinner after a movie. Thanks!

I think you should be okay at 4pm. It's on the early side. I've been there at 5 and it's not crowded. (Though, one other thing to keep in mind is that sometimes people reserve part of the restaurant for an event and you don't know that until you get… Read more

I'm inquiring about small places for a wedding. Approx 50 people or so. Is this a place that can accommodate for that? We want to have a private wedding with close friends.

I suggest asking directly.

We split a bottle of one of the lightly chilled chiantis the Fiasco and it was perfection. We mainly got the winter specials which were the asparagus, smoked eel, duck salad and scallops which were all truly phenomenal. The scallop dish was quite small so not the best for sharing but the rest were all amazing. From the regular menu we got the mushroom toast which was absolutely delicious and great for sharing and the pork chop which is one of the best dishes I have ever had. The pork chop was cooked perfectly and was incredibly juicy. For dessert, we got the creme brûlée which I am also still thinking about and one of the best desserts I have ever had. Would absolutely come back!

Tasty cocktails but I do wish they had more options on the menu -- there are only 3 cocktails to order from. Half chicken with scallion ginger sauce was pricey for the portion size with no sides but perfectly cooked and seasoned. Chocolate dessert was also fantastic!

Everything on the menu looked amazing, so I had the waiter choose my dish/wine pairing and he did a great job! I got the pesto with shrimp. The pasta is handmade and the wine is natural from Italy. The pesto is made the day of in the morning. All fresh ingredients. They have indoor seating and then more seating in the back that is the perfect spot. I love the exposed brick wall. Instead of picking a wine from a menu, you tell your server the flavor and mood of wine you're looking for and they bring out glasses or a bottle for you based on that. The food here is delicious and I was happy to see gluten free pasta options. The pork ragu was good but I was truly impressed by how good the texture of the gluten free pasta was. For me, the show stopper was the branzino. It was seasoned perfectly and the potato crust was a fun touch. The salad was nice and simple, but didn't blow me away. Portion sizes were good, though the prices are on the higher side. The restaurant is a great place for a friends' night or date night, and I'd keep the group small or make a reservation in advanced because it gets busy. It is definitely a more expensive spot, but worth it!
