My sister and I want to go out for late night cocktails, and she was excited to take me to this Latin-owned spot with some fire mezcal drinks. Unfortunately, because of a slow night, they didn't have their full bar setup, and we're only serving beer and wine. So, I put my Yelp expert hat on and looked up nearby places with mezcal cocktails, and discovered this place. The food and drink menus for this place immediately reminded me of La Shukran and similar restaurants in DC, and I couldn't help but wonder if they were under the same umbrella. Turns out they aren't. They had a fantastic hip hop playlist going for their last hour of the night. Dozens of records were on display on shelves, and the staff were really cool behind the bar. I had the Lavashak sour and the Turkish Delight cocktails... Both had really unique flavors and less common elements like apricot, saffron, pomegranate, pistachio... And my sisters drinks were great too! The food looked delicious, although neither of us were hungry. I would be eager to return and give everything a try. Met up with some friends here. It has a very clean and comfortable atmosphere. Chill music of all genres plays unobtrusively on vinyl records. Soft lighting shows off the stylish bar and furnishings. An attentive and eclectic staff greeted me warmly when I arrived. I was the first to arrive and enjoyed a glass of chenin blanc at the bar. I changed to the Swick, their skin contact orange wine and stayed with that for the duration. It was a fun, surprising wine that augmented my meal. We shared the dip sampler of hummus, muhammara and labne which comes with their superlative Turkish Pide. We all ordered and enjoyed the Ali Nazik Kebap, broiled minced lamb on a searing hot metal skewer that be warned because they didn't say a word about it to us! We also ordered the lamb meshweh which features braised lamb shoulder with sumac onions and pickled slaw on a pita. It was hearty and well seasoned and nothing remained by the end. We were having such a good time I forgot to keep taking pictures! Two orders of the dip sampler, three orders of the lamb entrees and two rounds of drinks came to about $100 a person. Ambiance was very pretty but the music was so insanely loud during dinner we were having to scream to talk over it. Service was a mixed bag depending on the server, most were very polite. Food was good, especially the cauliflower and the 36 layer beef kebab, portions were small for the price but tasted good! A really wonderful addition to the neighborhood. Come here for great vibes, drinks and music! The menu here is fun and has a little something for everything. The drink menu is even more standout. The Mastiha 50/50 is unexpectedly refreshing and so easy to drink. Niv's Flip is unique and worth trying if you enjoy mezcal. I do wish their kitchen hours were posted online because we've missed the food cut off before which was disappointing. Inside there's a variety of seating, but I really like the bar seating as there is often a dj spinning vinyl right at the bar, really adding to the intimate vibes of the space. Laziza is truly a neighborhood gem. Some of my go-to dishes are the Basturma Chicken, Ali Nazik Kebab, and the Persian Forbidden Rice. Even the hand-cut fries hit different -- especially with their addictive white sauce that's almost like a garlicky aioli. For drinks, I usually lean toward the Taly, I usually ask the bartender to make it with mezcal instead of tequila, which gives it a smoky twist that pairs perfectly with the food. Pricing is very reasonable, portions are solid, and the food is consistently fresh and flavorful. Sade pide rather than pita was provided as a crunchier vessel for dipping. For vegetarians, the most unique kebab is without a doubt the potato tahdig, an innovative play on the classic Persian burnt rice dish that attempts to recreate the same effect on a scalloped potato. After anxiously awaiting the unveiling of the newest restaurant in the area, I had the pleasure of dining at Laziza on their second night open. I'm excited to welcome them to the neighborhood and explore more and more of their menu. The restaurant is a bit narrow and dimly lit. The decor is modern and the visible speakers around let you know that music is an important part of their program. Though packed it wasn't terribly loud and accommodated both pairs and groups. The staff was very welcoming and helpful. Laziza encourages you to take your time and enjoy the menu at your own pace. We ordered dishes in stages which allowed us to really enjoy what we were eating and also saved table space. The menu items are served as small plates, and shared is highly recommended. We started with the falafel and muhammarah, from the hot mezze and the dip sections, respectively. It was my first falafel experience and it was really good. My boyfriend said it has probably ruined all other falafel for me. It's served with a more sesame-forward toum and a spicy pepper sauce. The muhammarah dip is made of walnuts and lentils and topped with pomegranate seeds, then served with Turkish pide (bread). The dip was quite flavorful with a slightly crunchy texture. Next up, we had the sujuk (beef sausage), grilled butterflied prawns, and ali nazik kebap (beef and lamb skewer). I really liked the kebap because it was served atop a mashed eggplant situation, and I don't typically care for eggplant. It was a nice texture and really good to eat with the skewer. I also enjoyed the pickled beets with the falafel despite not being a typical beet-eater. (Lesson here: try new things!) The prawns come with a mango salsa that we didn't leave a trace of. The sujuk had a smokey flavor and was more rich compared to most pork sausage I've had. Lest I forgot, the cocktails! I had Marie's Cure and Eddie's Milk Punch. I also tried a bit of Tedy's Old Fashioned. I enjoyed them all, but Tedy's sticks out for the uniqueness factor. I'm into the milk punch resurgence and will be glad to be able to get one in the neighborhood. This eatery is hip, romantic, and bustling. From the analog turn table dj to the tasty appetizers and entrees, I understand the hype. A local restaurant within an active small Brooklyn strip. Great for dates, group dining out, or casual bar nights. The service is exceptional as the food and drinks. Ordered the Turkish pide bread with hummus, lamb mesweh, and lychee syrup iced tea, ending with baklava for dessert. The pide bread is new to me but similar to focaccia or pita bread. The hummus tasted house made. The lamb entree (which I always ask if tender) was savory with pickled vegetables served on top a pita bread and with charred pepper ots. I'm not a lamb person but this was delicious. The date syrup tea was sweet and light. I'm a fan of date syrup now. Lastly, the baklava was the most light buttery and sweet ever tasted. The food and atmosphere was energetic and welcoming. The restrooms are located in the basement level adjacent dj/bar. There's also back patio seating during warmer months. You can walk in or reserve. Okay I'm obsessed. This place was SO good I questioned whether I even wanted to write a review in the first place because I wanna keep it all to myself haha. I went on a friend date & started with the carab Carajillo which was basically an espresso martini. It was fab, perfect balance of sweet & bitter. Then we had the babaganoush (SO GOOD) lamb platter (melt in your mouth), & cauliflower hot mezze plate (still thinking about this, could eat this everyday if I could) , all of which were addicting. Last drink of the night was sharbat with watermelon, coconut & fennel paired with white rum & my friend had the one with strawberry & basil paired with gin. both were delicious though the strawberry was more up my alley since fennel can taste a bit like licorice. We live really close to this restaurant in bed stuy and I've been awaiting its opening as I walk past it on my way to the subway (Utica Ave "A"). Let's get into the ambiance of the spot, forget ambiance I'm going to call it a vibe. It felt like I could've chilled there all night if they had a DJ. Service was excellent too, everyone from our waitress to the dude who brought out our food. She made suggestions and checked on us the appropriate amount of times and we definitely didn't feel rushed or bothered allowing us to enjoy our meal however being close enough to grab her attention if we needed anything. Let's get into the EATSSSS! Those fries were the best fries I ever tasted HANDS DOWN and that's saying a lot from me because both wifey and I are def "potato heads" they were fluffy on the inside and perfectly crunchy and salty on the outside. I love that this place opened in my neighborhood. I don't love this kind of cuisine; I never seek it out, but I was with a group of 3 others. As a longtime vinyl collector and DJ myself, it is clear that extreme care was taken with the decor and basically every decision. I appreciate that. Two tips on the layout: (1) get rid of speaker wall and remove that part of the wall that butts out. It will create more space, which is badly needed, and the wall of sound is tacky. We get it. You like speakers. There are already plenty of other speakers in the restaurant. (2) it feels like the downstairs could use a second bar. The seating is nice, but why? The restaurant is brand new, so I'm not gonna knock it. Maybe in due time. Also, I love the bathrooms. Very small plates, as others have said. The stuff off the grill is so tiny. For the four of us, we each got half a shrimp, and they were not large shrimp. It's not a cheap restaurant, but I guess I would pay more for slightly larger plates? I don't know. Our bill was $66.50 per person before tip. I wouldn't want to pay a lot more. Each person got 1-2 drinks. Fitting all the plates on the table is another problem. It's like a jenga game the whole time. We almost lost several plates to the floor. I feel like some vertical stacking is needed. Service was 5/5. Excellent drinks. Again, not my favorite kind of cuisine anyway, but I would go back and sit at the bar for a drink and one or two small snacks. If you are into this cuisine, definitely go here. read more

Stopped by for happy hour while I was waiting for a nearby reservation and had a few bites with my family. The labneh was thick and creamy, the muhammara was smokey and a bit on the sweeter side yet packed with flavor, and the fries were wonderfully crispy -- the toum was not as balanced as I expected, with what felt like small chunks of garlic instead of a creamier consistency. Everything came with a well-toasted bread that was perfectly drizzled with olive oil and sesame seeds. My party had the Taly and Eddie's and Our server was attentive and friendly! A note to others but mainly to the manager, the lady hostess, and the lady bar tender on the evening of Friday Dec 19. The hostess and the bar tender with the beautiful Afro (who was not originally attending to us but picked up the slack for the original tender) were the redeeming parts of our experience. They were both attentive and interested in providing good customer service. The waiter with the beard and the bar tender with the beard were standing around. The original bar tender brought us our drinks after our food came and blamed another staff member for not putting in the ticket. Then he said he would make it up by bringing us a dessert on the house. He never even looked our direction the rest of the time. In fact when we ordered a second drink, he handed it to the other bar tender to give to us because he was engulfed in chatty convo with other customers. We really wish we had cash to give the tip directly to the ladies who actually deserved it. If we ever come back that is exactly what we will do! read more

The food was fantastic, it's small plates as the website advertises no huge entrées, but that's great because you get to try so many different flavors. Like others, I would give it a 3.5. I loved the vibe and thought food was amazing, however the portion sizes were ridiculously small. My group was also surprised that our server didn't warn us when we order. We were of course told that the style was small sharing plates, which is totally ok, however each dish is barely enough for one person. We should have definitely been prompted to order double portions etc. For example we ordered the kabab and it was one small 3in piece of kabab. I am not sure how they expected a group of people to share that. Again, we really did love everything we got, but were left feeling hungry and a bit disappointed when we left. I think the restaurant has amazing potential and would really succeed if they take everyones feedback and double or triple some of the portions. I would gladly return and spend money (it's not cheap) if the portion sizes were adjusted. Until then, I would probably only go back for the drinks and maybe a little snack with a friend. read more

NO!! I've never left a negative review on a restaurant in my life. This place is a mess. I can tap into a overly priced mezze/tapas spot but this was so wack. 1. Food was ok and the plates were rediculously small - like sketch comedy 2. They took my number at the door to text me when the table was ready - they never texted - came back 45 mins later and they made us wait 15 more mins 3. There was a dj spinning vinyl at the bar (built in section)- so in the way of the bartenders and he was annoying 4. Everything became self service - nothing was poured for us or placed in front of us (food) so dumb 5. Overall felt like the most scam version of a 'cool place to grab a bite' I've ever been too- so obviously ripping us off with just labne from a tub on a plate- not even pretending to care about the food (kitchen was smaller than the bar) genuinely never been this disappointed in a restaurant- as a NYer these places really piss me off because why are you attracting the most wack transplants ever and not even being good?? read more
