We found Boutros completely by chance while looking for a good brunch spot in Brooklyn, and what a great find! We walked in without a reservation and had no problem getting seated. The restaurant is spacious with a vibrant, lively atmosphere. One thing that immediately stood out was the music. For a Middle Eastern restaurant, the playlist was refreshingly diverse. We heard everything from hip-hop and salsa to world music, and it really added to the vibe. Our server, Omar, was EXCELLENT! If you can, ask to sit in his section. He was warm, attentive, knowledgeable, and absolutely wonderful throughout our meal. We started with the very popular short rib hummus and homemade pita, and it definitely lived up to the hype. Very, very good! Everything tasted incredibly fresh, especially the hummus and bread, which are made in-house. We also tried another pita topped with spices, which was a little more sophisticated and absolutely worth ordering. For brunch, we tried the Lebanese omelette, which was a little bland for my taste, but the fig toast was a MUST! Definitely one of the standouts of the meal. The chicken shawarma was also very good. For drinks, we tried the Strawberry & Na'a along with one of their bourbon-based cocktails and enjoyed both. Overall, Boutros was such a pleasant surprise. Pretty good lebanese food. Good brunch, good for dinner, everything hits home. Nothing will necessarily blow your socks off, but if this wasn't NYC it might. The Duck fat Batata is just soooo flavorful and wonderful with the toum. The labne is great and with honey just so good. The Short Rib is good on the hummus or in it's own dish. Really flavorful and scrumptious. The soujuk is nice and spicy. French toast at breakfast is also just really quite good. Hard to dislike this place, especially when you open up with such good fresh, hot pita. Cocktails are also good, I really liked the Cloud 9 as a breakfast cocktail, but there's lots of good cocktails and wine choices for dinner too. Food: The food is pretty good here. We walked in on a Saturday around noon without a reservation and were still able to get a table even though the place was packed. We tried the mushroom hummus, Zaa'tar fries, chicken shawarma sandwich, and Shakshouka. All of the food was delicious and well-made; I would recommend the mushroom hummus. The best part of the meal was the pita bread that comes with the hummus and also shakshouka. It was some of the best pita I've ever had; it had a nice chewy and soft texture. The golden beets and the steak kebab with fennel were outstanding, and the hummus is superb with the most amazing, light & fluffy pita. We've gotten take out for dinner and dined in for brunch twice. The first time we had brunch, we thought it was just ok but I don't think we ordered the right things! Our first thoughts on take out were it was a bit pricey for the amount of food. A place I truly love in my neighborhood. Contemporary twists on classic Lebanese fare - the short rib hummus is my absolute favorite style of hummus bil lahme in the area and the challah french toast with pistachio creme is phenomenal. Overall, we got a lot of great items for four people; however, the quantity was underwhelming for the price, other than for the half chicken, which pleasantly surprised us with a large portion, and the octopus kebab. If we got more food (like double the quantity for some items), it might have been a five. For dips, we got the Short Rib Shawarma Hummus (4.5/5) and Miso Baba Ganoush (4.5/5). The short rib hummus was really smooth, and the short rib was cooked well. The miso baba ganoush had a really unique flavor profile, which I loved. The pita was nice and fluffy (4.5/5), but you only get one bigger one per order, which isn't really enough for the dips, and they didn't give you a ton of each dip. You can get more pita for $4/pita, but this really feels a bit much, especially since the dips were already $19 and $22. For other appetizers and mains, we got the Falafel Gougéres (4.5/5), Bulgur Fried Rice (4/5), octopus kebab (4.75/5), and half roasted chicken (4.5/5). The falafel was unique; it had a hummus like green paste on the inside, which was great. The exterior was also nice and crunchy; however, it only came with five small pieces. The bulgur fried rice was good but insanely overpriced; it was about a cup and a half of grains for $20, but it still had a good flavor. The octopus was excellent; it was nice and crunchy and not chewy like almost every other octopus I've had before. The potato and red pepper puree complimented it well and was also delicious itself. The chicken was also good and a pretty massive portion. The amount of herbs and sauce on top is a little excessive but easy to brush off, and they have a good flavor which compliments the chicken well. The chicken has nice seared skin with a moist interior, which was very well executed. Overall, the octopus kebab was my favorite! It was a decent amount of food, the chicken was a ton of food, but everything else was smaller than anticipated, especially for the price, although everything was good. Boutros is our go-to date spot in Brooklyn. The ambiance is so chill (the restaurant has great vibes). All of the food is homemade and fresh. The short rib hummus is a staple each time we go, it's so filling and perfect. I didn't get pics this round but the pita served with it is so fluffy, and upgrading to the za'atar pita was delightfully flavorful. The lemon pancakes brunch special bursted with lemon flavor, which I loved (lemon both in the pancake batter and topped with lemon zest ). My partner said the bulgur fried rice was the best fried rice they ever had. Drinks-wise, my partner adored the berry smash. Had a quick dinner with my sister recently. The restaurant is near Downtown Brooklyn, featuring Middle eastern dishes, and I think its vibe is good for drinking and dating. A bit pricy. The short ribs and the pickled onions on the hummus tasted so great and along with the pita bread (also the best I've had), this by itself is honestly a meal. The alternating cream and pistachio butter circles are largely on the side so you can smear your preferred level of sweetness and richness. - the BEC was alright. The duck bacon was good and interesting, but it was a bit tough in the sandwich. Each component seemed good, the bread, the egg, but altogether it didn't quite hit the mark for us but not bad. I got the tea which they allow to put more hot water in, and wife got the drip coffee where they allow refills. She really liked the coffee, which they apparently get from Sahadi's next door. This was such a last-minute decision, and girl, I'm SO glad I went!! I'm picky about hummus--like, I usually only trust my mom's--but this place? ATE. DOWN. The Caesar salad was not well balanced. The lettuce was overly dressed and had too much mustard. The dish ended up being inedible for the table. Skip the salad Grilled Octopus Kebab - the flavor was okay, quality was good and octopus was tender. However, the dish was not hot enough, the red pepper and octopus was cold and the potato puree was lukewarm. I came here after watching a movie at the Cobble Hill Cinema, and it was the perfect place to eat dinner! We weren't too hungry so we ordered the short rib hummus, the falafel, and monkfish skewers. I'm pregnant with my first, and I came here after my first ultrasound with my mom. I had been feeling pretty sick, and I wanted a bit of a light meal, so we popped in for lunch. They had a really nice sparkling virgin cocktail that totally hit the spot. I believe it was the berry spritz. We also shared the Labneh, and my word was that delicious. Had a spectacular evening here on a Thursday night. I was in absolute awe upon entering this establishment. The decor inside was gorgeous! We started with the short rib shawarma hummus, brussel sprouts, grilled octopus kebab, and American wagyu kebab. The short rib shawarma hummus was superb! The rest of the appetizers were good, but nothing too memorable. The American wagyu was not as tender as I thought it would be. I would skip this one. As for the entree, we decided to share the moulard duck breast. There were so many different flavors from this dish that somehow just paired so well together. The tartness of the cherries, nuttiness from the walnuts, meaty flavor of the duck, and the smokiness from the gai lan were truly remarkable. The service was top-notch from beginning to end. We made reservations for our family on a Friday after having been here a few years back. I'm gluten-free. I wrote this when making the reservation and I told the server before ordering. Since there were no menu call-outs for what to avoid, I had to guess until the server seemed to wake up and say what would work. Then, when the food came, I had to decipher which dishes were which because the server wasn't the one who brought the food over and he didn't come over until we literally waved him down to get the check. I love Lebanese food but everything was mediocre at best. The lamb shank shawarma was $59 and while it was okay, the sauces were bland and it wasn't worth the price. The beets & berries was good as was the pistachio ice cream. The tabouleh was decent as well. However, they need to up their game to compete with so many incredible Lebanese and middle eastern restaurants in the area.
