Over the years, I've never considered myself a regular, but I used to frequent quite a bit. I just recently visited since pre-pandemic days, and I'm thrilled to see many familiar faces celebrating in what I consider a cultural institution. Michelle's is ALWAYS clean, well stocked and full of Panamanian pride. I'm not Panamanian or Caribbean, but one need not be to feel what it means to have a place to gather where folk understand you, celebrate you and welcome you. I certainly wish a younger sect will discover this place and respect it enough to want to see it remain forever. Now, I do wish they'd bring someone on to introduce some classic cocktails and how to execute them. Some of the ingredients they use for cocktails have fallen out of favor long ago. I really love this cocktail bar. And for strange reason, in my early 20's, I used to hang out at super divey old man bars. The drinks were strong. The bartenders were friendly. I had some amazing conversations and met some really great people. That bar was The Old Gallery. And this gives me those vibes except it's less divey, more Caribbean food with a West Indian vibe. That's my people so I fit right in. The bartender is great. We had amazing conversations. The other patrons were friendly and the drinks were uncomplicated. Just straight up, just the way I like it. Vodka Cran please! Light on the Cran! I came here after grocery shopping at Stop & Shop. And once after I got a tattoo. Hey! Don't judge me! It was tiny! Like one of those from a Cracker Jack box. Anyway, it's no frills but also just what I needed. I haven't had the food but it always smells amazing and everyone says it's really good. I'm sad I didn't get to back for the past few weeks. Now indoor dining is shutting some places down. I really hope these beloved places survive and we all can see each other on the other side with a shot in hand and a smile. If you're in the section of Flatbush just south of Prospect Park, I have two suggestions: check out Michelle's, and do not get a sour drink. Actually, four things - don't get a beer either, and do get a drink that comes in the super-cute hurricane glasses. I came here to get a drink last night before catching a concert at King's Theater, and my boy and I both made two of the mistakes mentioned above - he got a beer (Budweiser, one of seemingly three choices that include Amstel and Heineken too) and I got a tequila sour. I really liked the location and plan to come back, but I'll definitely avoid ordering a sour anything again here. The sour mix tasted more like salt mix, and I love salt, so I should have loved it but not really. Why did I like it so much? It's an oasis in a location that is seemingly without walking-distance options for hanging out, though that is changing. The nearest park is nearly a mile away and there are maybe two other further-flung bars within a one-mile radius, but the local coffee scene is on the rise, and a number of ethnic and soul food restaurant mainstays are definitely worth checking out. Michelle's is one of those mainstays that's known and loved by the locals, though clearly the reopening of King's Theater brings newbies like myself stumbling in every so often too. The music was great, really good reggae, and for once I was comfortable having a cold drink out without wearing my jacket. Pretty upscale Panamanian restaurant ( there food is similar to Belizean food it's Caribbean ,West Indian - Central American flare I guess) in the Flatbush section of Brooklyn . I love there carm-Yola it's a pastry with fried meat ground beef or etc . The bar is located on Bedford Avenue and the restaurant food with take out order is located on Albermarble road like going towards Flatbush Avenue just around the corner the same facility and building . It's located one block away from Kings Theatre and Sears and Kmart department store and stop and shop supermarket and old navy . The restaurant is usually packed on weekends . I love it here . Michelle's Cocktail Lounge has been a Flatbush mainstay for decades. It's one of the sole Panamanian bars that I've been to up here. The drinks are relatively on par - $6 for a Heineken, $7 for a Wray & Nephew. They have DJ's on the weekend, karaoke one night a week. The real gem here is the kitchen in the back that they rent out. All of the deep fried Panamanian street foods - the ceviche is a fresh as it gets! You can go ham and order everything on the menu for under 15 bucks. We stopped in to this neighborhood joint before a show at King's theater (two blocks away). This place is a gem, the crowd is mostly regulars, hard working people who made us feel so at home, they treated us like family. It's not a fancy joint but the folks are the real star here, beautiful people from the islands, and from all over. I highly recommend Michelle's and the beautiful "Daniella" - a vibrant and luminous young woman with a smile that could light up the North Pole. read more

Went there last Saturday with a freind and I must say I had a great experience, when u walk in it's a little intimidating the place is filled with older Panamanian people, but neither me nor my friend let that stop us. Our bartender, Daniella was awesome she was so warm and friendly that me and my friend vowed to come back after Daniella shift was done her replacement Lily was just as friendly and just as awesome.. The only low light of the night is when we tried to order food.. We where told that we had gotten there to late for the kitchen to be open.. All in all I must say we had a wonderful time, the great music, the great carribean/latino vibe made me feel at home.... I will definitely be heading back!!! read more

Sometimes you wonder. Is it better to keep places off the map? They're happy enough without being known. Michelle's is the local Panamanian bar. That doesn't mean a Panamanian theme. It means it's where we go after a futbol match, a parade or a drum circle. And we drink and joke around. You might miss it to pass by, but the folks inside would just as well keep it that way. So I'm fixing my car near by stopped by for a cocktail funny spot bartender ruff not the type to strike a conversation. Ask for wine if you like wine don't bother. They have no idea on how long a bottle should be open for. My pinot nor was so old it taste like death!!!! I ask the bartender what bottle was the most recently opened bottle she actually looked bothered by the question. Oh well good luck as how hard could it be to attend one customer. She did come around towards the end not the worst experience. I've always wanted to go to this spot, it took me eight years, a very nice and exquisite joint but on my very first visit on 5/28/2016 this barserver as i would call her was very immature and other so polite, she doesn't even know to speak to customers. I love the interior and three mature vibes, but the berserker killed my entire vibe and day. It was really beautiful outside and I wanted somewhere different to me yet it was a bad experience.
