My friends had a going away party here a little before Halloween. It was a gorgeous day and we were out back using the patio/backyard area. You can bring your own food since they don't have any, we ordered pizza. Bar drinks were good. The staff were constantly cleaning up behind everyone and making sure things were tended to. My favorite bar on Franklin Ave from when I lived nearby. The Crown Inn is long, dark, and has a great vibe. There's a bouncer at peak times but they've always been friendly. The space is narrow with the bar itself dominating the space, however there's a bit of room up front and in the back to chill. Music is loud but not overwhelming. Beer list is very good for a dive bar. Nothing crazy mind you--this isn't a true beer bar--however if you're big into craft beer there will be some legit options. Crowd is a good mix reflecting the neighborhood, perhaps with less hipster types (a big plus). Bartenders are friendly, mixed drinks have been good the few times I've gotten them, and prices are reasonable. Definitely a worthwhile late night spot even if it isn't going to rock your world--sometimes that's all you need. read more

Listen dog lovers...I love dogs, but around food and drinks and no consideration for other is getting out of control. The establishment: really relaxing, candles everywhere. lights super dim. For such a small bar it seats more than enough. there are no tvs, however they have projectors (I've never seen them down tho) The have an outdoor patio that is just as intimate as the inside. they don't serve food but you're more than welcome to bring your own. I think it's a perfect place for someone with a chill state of mind or for someone who feels like they need to just get away from reality. We weren't offered menus or food items or told of any specials, but we had already eaten dinner so weren't hungry for food. We wanted libations! My friend ordered a beer and I ordered a Moscow mule, and the total came to $17. We did not receive a receipt so I am not sure the breakdown of the cost, but it seems reasonable for a New York bar. The bar has seats for a good 12-15 people. There are also tables and little nooks for intimate seating. The bathroom is not labeled and not intuitive. It's just an unmarked door on the left side past the bar. There is graffiti throughout the walls inside of the bathroom, which is a shame because the rest of the bar is unsullied. The Crown Inn has all you can ask for in a neighborhood bar. Great prices? Check! Drafts are $6-7, and cocktails are $9-11. Great drink selection? Check! They have about 12 beers on tap, and both drafts and cocktails rotate regularly. Great HH? Check! Every day from opening to 8pm; $2 off 16 oz drafts, plus cocktail specials. Great bartenders? Check! Some of the nicest bartenders I've ever met; friendly, fast, accommodating. Nice backyard for outdoor drinking? Check that too! So, why the 3 star rating, then? It's mainly the people who like to come here in the evening. It can get uncomfortably crowded during weekend evenings, and the fact that the area in front of the bar is very narrow makes things awkwardly difficult: if you're trying to get a drink you have to constantly battle with people going in and out of the bathroom, and people just moving around the bar. Frustrating. The backyard is potentially nice and relaxing. It also has an elevated area for smokers. Unfortunately nobody cares and people smoke all over the backyard, even in front of the No Smoking signs. They also litter the floor with cigarette butts. If you're a smoker you'll love it; if, like me, you prefer not to inhale passive smoke while trying to enjoy some fresh air, you'll hate it. I'll keep enjoying The Crown Inn for weekday HH. The Crown Inn is now open on Franklin Avenue! With beautiful dark wood and candle light this warm and inviting bar was the perfect place for us to stop for our last drink of the night. The cocktail menu isnt ready yet and I had to pick from the recipe cards, but the beer selection on tap was pretty stellar. Yet I ordered off one of the cards. My drink was way to strong and I probably wont order cocktails again, or at least till they have an actual menu (give them time) but sit and have a beer I will be back for! This is such a fun bar near prospect park. It's open air and has a patio in the back and a decent happy hour ($7 beer and $8 wine). I would definitely come back for the happy hour (because it's until 8pm). The only negative was that the bartenders were kind of indifferent - not rude, but not nice either. read more

Stopped in to grab a quick drink with friends. What was supposed to be 1 quick drink turned into 3 long drinks. We got there at 1:30pm on the Friday after thanksgiving. The bar was completely empty and we were the only patrons there for about an hour. This gave us an opportunity to chat with our bartender, Wolf. He was patient and attentive to ensure that he prepared our drinks as we wanted. My friend ordered an old fashioned and once he finished the drink, he realized they ran out of maraschino cherries. Wolf felt so badly about providing an incomplete cocktail so he went on the hunt for cherries and 2 minutes later, he came back holding a large can of cherries. He really went above and beyond to ensure that we were satisfied with out orders. The great service and well prepared cocktails will have me returning. read more

This bar is affectionately known as a hookup bar, so I learned. It definitely caters towards that vibe. It's very dimly lit and perfect for slurred words and drunk kisses in the dark while sipping well made and reasonably priced cocktails. The bartender makes a good old fashioned on a Saturday night. The scene is full of those hipsters turned yuppies who have pretty much overrun the commercial strip that is Franklin Avenue. I guess I can count myself as apart of that crowd I suppose. *shrugs* Get a seat in the window and watch how quickly life can change on the street if there's space. Like other bars, Crown Inn is required to make you buy food with any alcoholic drinks. They offer five options for $3 each - spanakopita, vegan samosas, olives, baklava, and dolma. This is my favorite bar in the neighborhood! Everyone who works here is so sweet and the owner is one of the nicest, coolest people ever. I've been coming here for years and can't wait til quarantine is over and I can be back inside singing along to all my favorite songs, getting perfectly mixed drinks from wonderful people. Relaxed and enjoyed some drinks with friends at The Crown Inn on Saturday night. They have a solid draft beer list to go along with their full bar, and two distinct areas for different moods. Quality: I really appreciated the beer list at The Crown Inn. Too many bars fail to find the middle ground. Either they had tons of unique beer choices, mostly in bottles, or they stick with a small set of standard cheap beers. Here they had a good set of local beer options, that offered some variety, but limited enough to still allow for the normal bar flow. During my visit I had an Imperial IPA and a Blueberry Sour. Two solid beers from NYC breweries that really showed how easy it is for bars to offer something extra. Quantity: Drafts of the local craft beers were a bit smaller than usual. Value: $8-$10 for Draft Beers. Ambiance: The Crown Inn is a bar located on Franklin Ave in Brooklyn. It has some dive bar characteristics, but is still pretty nice. The inside area that houses the bar and several tables was packed. The music was good, but too loud to keep up a conversation, so we moved outside. Behind the bar is a patio area with several tables, split into a smoking and non-smoking areas. The music only made it outside when the door opened, allowing guests on the patio to unwind as they sipped on their drinks. Crowd: The bar was very busy on Saturday night. There were two drastically different vibes with inside being lively and loud, while the outdoor patio was relaxed and chill. Service: The bartenders were excellent. With a loud and busy bar, they immediately recognized when guests needed a drink. Parking: Very limited street parking in the area. read more
