Judy's is both a bar and a cafe, depending on when you come. I grabbed two lattes, a lavender and a matcha. The matcha latte was surprisingly solid, creamy, bold matcha flavor and umami. Very slight astringency. My fiancée said the lavender latte was solid, but not nearly as good as Liebre Cafe, which is not too far away. There were also a few pastries and cookies sitting out which looked good - would come back to try these. Service was fast and the barista was friendly. read more

I love the place, apparently the owner doesn't like me.. There are two ways of looking at this.. His and mine.. I have no idea what I did to offend anyone, I've been back several times and like the people that work there and habituate the place.. Just got told by the owner (after no scuffle) and none that I can remember, that I am not welcome there..This makes me sad since he told me that I upset a couple there a few years ago.. I don't remember doing that...I will be happy not to go there, it scares me because, I was a NY bartender for several years and I'm not a crazy person who is given to offend people.... My favorite bar I've been to of late. Kind of like a coffee shop by day, that slowly evolves to a wine and beer bar by night. They have bar seating, indoor tables, as well as and outdoor structure. They have such a greatly curated beer and wine selection, and all at reasonable prices. Super chill vibes, great crowd, and such nice staff. They also let you bring in food from the outside, or order food to be delivered to the bar. Perfect situation is to get tacos delivered from Tacos El Bronco which is essentially down the street to go with their amazing beer and wine. A bit sad that Parkette has gone away, but excited that Judy's has opened up in the neighborhood. I'm usually wary of gentrifiers/hipsters moving in as a Sunset Park native, but Judy's is doing us right. Sam is warm and friendly, and while I have only been here once, my best friend has been multiple times and she attests to the fact that Judy's is a nice local little spot. I thought they had a decent assortment of beers/wine (mostly local), and the ambience was very chill, not loud, crowded, or busy at all. Around last week I was passing by with my dog and some groceries, I was tired so I sat down on one of the small tables outside.5 min later a man comes up to me and says I can't sit there. Its nice to find a coffee shop with a relaxing and quirky vibe in sunset park. Judys sells coffee, tea, beer and wine with a few food options but they also encourage outside food. For vegans they have alternative milks. We went on a sunday afternoom and it had a quiet and relaxing vibe and fast service. Great place to grab some coffee and concentrate on work. Absolutely was love at first sight. I was begging my fiancé to come in here for so long as we Def. Love to explore and learn new places. Finally convinced him one day and walked in and he has officially found his new favorite beer. Thank you to Sam for his hospitality and making me feel like VIP when we walked in the very first time! I have to say I have Def found my favorite beer as well :) Recommendations are the Clown Shoes and KCBC bride of beach zombie (Marble of doom is the previous season brew). Cute little hidden gem in the middle of busy 5th ave in Sunset Park. Love the decor on the inside. They have delicious pastries and snacks as well as draft beers and wines. Customer service was terrible, owner Sam was out of line. His comments were very rude, he is so unprofessional and distasteful. He blamed us for having an "extra" drink. To avoid the continuing drama he was instigating, my friend decided to pay the one drink he overcharged. You can tell he's never owned a business prior to this one. Judy's, such a cozy little coffee shop! I am a big big fan of the vanilla latte. I am very glad this place opened up. I remember the first time I came by with my co-workers, the owner was such a kind and welcoming person! He was excited to see us and made sure our drinks were on point. I came by a couple of more times and I was welcomed with the same vibe and he says hello to everyone. There is usually one barista I see very often and she's very polite and sweet. I met another barista and he did this very nice foam art on my latte. It was so pretty to look at that I did not want to mess it up or drink it. Still drank it. It was delicious. Had an incredibly negative experience here. Was refused service for my friend and I. My friend forgot her ID at home, but I presented my drivers license and vax card. She volunteered to leave and get drinks elsewhere, while I was going to stay and have a glass of wine. Instead, because my friend didn't have her ID, the bartender refused me service as well, insinuating that I was not coherent enough to stay in the bar. I was stone cold sober. As a former restaurant manager and sommelier, I have never experienced this type of refusal of service, specifically since I had my physical credentials in front of me. read more
