Visit. This. Space. Now. Always floored by how amazing this space is; not just the taproom, but the brewery itself. You can request a brewery tour ahead of time! That and the bar staff is awesome too! Kyle is amazing and they make awesome cocktails alongside their sake. AND they just recently released a kasu Shochu that is phenomenal. GO NOW! What's also cool is that they're in Industry City. There's so much to do around there!

Brooklyn Kura is an American sake bar (the very first in NYC!) located in Industry City with amazing food, drinks and vibes. What we ordered: - Sake flight - Onibaba - Weekend lover - Chicken oyster mushrooms - Sweet potato gnocchi The staff were super attentive and knowledgeable in introducing everything we ordered, and the overall ambiance was great. There's a new Happy Hour menu on Thursdays and Fridays from 5-7pm with $10 seasonal cocktails and bar snacks, which I would highly recommend. Such a fun way to spend a summer evening!

The vibes are amazing at this place! The food was also delicious especially the focaccia. My favorite is the number fourteen and I ended up buying a bottle of it to go. I'd definitely go back and recommend to anyone who wants to try sake.

I'm usually stingy with my stars, but I think I realize the key to my heart here - it's great service. It's being friendly and the gesture and effort to make sure your customers are happy without them having to ask or complain, and for that I am truly appreciative. On top of that, the restaurant is nice and open with lots of natural light. The foccacia was a nice generous portion and since there were only two of us, left little room for another order. We'll be back.

I came here for an event that included a sake tasting of 3 courses and mahjong. Wow, this place is kind of confusing to find, I recommend going thru the middle courtyard area so you can also view all the other alcohol breweries. For example, Fort Hamilton is on the way! They served us in these really cool beakers/flasks. I'd definitely recommend their sake. It's just so smooth. It was a bit loud at the event, so I don't remember exactly which samples we had.

We stopped in for a very very quick beer (for him) and water for me. We were trying to find the hot sauce festival and stumbled upon Brooklyn Kura. My friend got a lager and he thought it was light and refreshing. We shared a pack of 8 strawberries- these have to be the best strawberries I've ever had. The concrete countertop was pretty nifty and minimalist. The vibe was chill and quiet.

I've made many declarations about my love for Industry City, its array of vendors, live music, outdoor heaters in the winter, and easily accessible bathrooms that make it ideal for safe, pandemic hangouts. You never need reservations, so friends can drop in and out throughout the day casually, and because it's kind of out of the way for a lot of people, its rarely overcrowded. I'll often tout this dedicated sake brewery as one of the biggest draws of the whole place, and always make a beeline to their taproom as soon as I step foot on the campus. It doesn't disappoint. The Blue Door Junmai is probably my favorite of their sakes that I've tried. It's chilled and has notes of banana and melon . It goes down really smooth and is ideal for summer days. Since it was brisk on my most recent visit, I went with the only hot sake they had on their menu, but it had to be purchased as a carafe. The person behind the counter warned me multiple times that the carafe was rather large and would likely cool down faster than I could drink it, rendering the hot drink not that hot after a short while. I appreciated her concern, but my little crew downed this carafe in mere minutes, huddled under one of the outdoor heaters they have set up overhead directly outside their doors. $60+ was a little steep for one carafe, but I guess fine, craft, sake, warrants some fine, craft prices. Though their gorgeous little taproom is closed for indoor drinking for now, if you can snag a table under one of their heat lamps, you'll be golden for at least the time it takes you to finish your drink.

This place is such a cool vibe. A good spot to sit around and hang, catch up with friends. Friendly service and knowledgeable about their sake brewed in house. Has some food options if you want to snack while drinking. I definitely will be back.

I've been wanting to come here since I missed the opportunity the first time I visited industry city and glad I came. I was able to get a Sake flight. The service was a little slow, we were waiting quite a bit before we could order. We tried to sit down at the bar but ended up moving to the table since we needed to show our vaccination cards before sitting at the bar. The flight came out fairly quickly and we were brought a jar of water which was nice. The flight was 4 sakes of the top four Tap Room Exclusives- Kimoto Koji Sour Occidental Lake Suwa The sake was good, my favorite was probably the Lake Suwa but all the sakes were pretty good. They sell bottles here and larger glasses is you would just like to try one. Cute ambiance and design of the place. Also ordered a beer cocktail after ~ Orion Shiso Sandy It was refreshing but kind of tasted like a really light mimosa. You can taste a little of the Orion beer.

Lovely sake, great service! Wandered into here with some friends during an industry city day and tasted two sakes. The waitress explained the difference between each and served the sake in beakers which was a fun twist. I'd like to come back to try more of what they have to offer. Vibe was modern and fun as well.

As other reviewers have noted, Brooklyn Kura is American craft sake brewed in Brooklyn. It "builds upon the more than 1,000 years" of Japanese sake brewing history but it's actually brewed locally in New York City, on site in Industry City in Sunset Park. There aren't many sake breweries in the US - Kura was the first sake brewers in New York State. And I have to say that I love their interpretation of Japanese sake! Recently, I had the rare opportunity to taste Kura sake as part of a larger tasting. Unlike local tastings at the brewery, I tasted Kura along with a dozen other Japanese sakes (including a few very famous & award winning ones). Kura definitely held its own and even surpassed my expectations. Each one of their sakes had their own "personalities." In the end, my favorite was Kura's Blue Door - Junmai Nama. I truly enjoyed Blue Door because it was unique yet beautifully crafted. Lately, I've become more interested in umami focused sakes - this sake has it - plus subtle tropical / banana undertones. It's an intriguing take on an ancient beverage. Highly recommend !

Enjoyed a Sake Tasting at Brooklyn Kura on Sunday afternoon. Got a chance to learn about and try multiple different flavors of sake with a true expert guide. Quality: This was my first time being led through a sake experience. The Sake Tasting was a nice way to learn about the drink and I did enjoy the different options avaliable. While their standard Blue Door and the light and fruity Omachi were okay, the funkier Yamahai and the delightful Catskills were excellent. Quantity: The Tasting came with four half pours. Value: $30 for a Sake Tasting. Ambiance: Brooklyn Kura is a sake brewery located in Industry City. They have a nice unpretentious space. All the visitors sat at a simple and elegant bar, though two large tables also could be used when busier. It is a working facility and windows show a glimpse of the back area. Calming music played in the background, preventing distraction from the flavors. Crowd: Mostly folks buying bottles, but two other couples ordering tastings. Service: The server was fantastic and knowledgable. Appreciated the short lesson on sake, as someone who does not know a lot about the beverage. Parking: Street parking throughout the nearby area.

On the positive side, it's a very spacious bar and I saw board games stacked up, which tells me it can be a fun place to hang out. Now to the not as great. I sat at the bar and after looking at their cocktail menu, I ordered a French 75. You can imagine my surprise when I was served a drink in a single rocks glass which is basically what you'd serve an old fashion or other cocktail in. A French 75 needs to be in a flute. And at first, I thought maybe they don't have any flutes. Which still perplexed me because why have a French 75 on the menu if you don't have the right glassware. But I looked behind the bar and lo and behold, saw a flute. So not sure what that was about. The drink itself was ok. The other weird thing is that when I ordered, she rang it up and handed me the handheld device to pay. Since I was sitting at the bar, I'd expect to at least be asked if I wanted to open a tab or to just wait. Payment before the drink was made just rubbed me different. And of course, gratuity was tacked on, also rubbed me wrong. Because while I planned to tip, adding your own tip automatically to 1 drink is icky.

The decor was simple, felt a bit cold and the vibe was chill. It's a small interesting space, when we arrived it was just us and 2 other small parties. When we left, there was a chaotic stroller party happening in the back. The brewery filled up pretty quick on a Saturday afternoon, with one slow moving angry woman pouring beers, it took awhile to get a beer. If the woman behind the bar had provided better customer service, I might have left a higher scoring review. I really wanted to like this place. Will I be back, probably not.
