Hazy double dry hopped hop bomb. Delicious!
James M.

As good as it gets when it comes to IPAs of all kinds. Glad I got to experience the orher half while in Brooklyn.

The brewery that I tried the most beer from while in New York was Other Half Brewing. I made sure to take full advantage of two of their locations, both the Rockefeller Center and the Gowanus Neighborhood. Lucky for me, it was also the week they were celebrating the New Zealand hop harvest, so not only did I get to enjoy some great IPAs and Stouts that they already had on draft, but also some of the freshest NZ IPAs out there. In the Gowanus Neighborhood location I had: Superdelic Green Nuggets: A Double IPA with Superdelic Hops and Cascade Double Nectaron Daydream: A Double IPA with Nectaron, Milk Sugar, and Oats All Peacharine Everything: A Double IPA with Peacharine from Freestyle Hops BA Velvet Magnum VIII: A Barrel Aged Imperial Stout with Coconut, Macadamia Nuts, Vanilla, Cinnamon, Cloud Cover Coffee brewed in collaboration with Burial Beer _________

Although this is the smaller location, we love it just as much! Cute setup inside, PLENTY of beer on draft and the bar tender crafted a flight for us after explaining what we liked. He was very helpful! Hazys are just out of this world good. Visit for sure!

I'm not really a beer girly but I passed by with a friend and got a draft cocktail. The bartenders are really friendly and the whole atmosphere is so chill. Need to come by again with my husband it's such a great spot. They also let you bring outside food which I thought was pretty cool.

Perfect place to stop for a sunny day pint and enjoy the views and outdoor weather. Beer, cocktails and a bar available. Bathrooms available for customers. Quite busy but we were fine standing around with our pints and then a table opened up eventually.

"The Dreamiest" can label. Catching the iridescence just right, makes the label look 3-D!!! Best label thus far!

One of my favorite breweries. Great selection of beer. Staff will let you sample and you can grab some growlers to go. I get it, It's the city but parking absolutely sucks.

I really enjoyed their cider, and went back a day later and it was sold out. I guess everyone else did, too! They have guest ciders and wine for non-beer drinking folk and the pizza we ordered from next door was great. Good ambiance, loved sitting outside and taking in the views. I recommend!

I wanted to update my review. Maybe there have been some staff changes or something. But I went back to other half and had a great experience. Staff was friendly and seemed to all enjoy being there. That, in turn, made me enjoy my time. Their beer is always amazing. That much has not changed. There isn't much to say. At this point I very much look forward to going back. Between OH, Finback, and Grimm, Brooklyn really has an amazing craft beer community. I take back all my negative remarks OH. You are now part of my happy place. Go there. Right now. And have a couple cold beers. ENJOY!!!

Other Half makes some of my favorite hazy IPAs and it's always a treat when cans make their way out to the West Coast. I had never been to one of their taprooms and knew I'd be indulging in one (or seven) beers at OH on my most recent visit to the city. The location and space are pretty unassuming but still modern and clean. I really dug the more industrial vibe of this particular taproom as it gave the true drinking at the brewery experience. We tried a bit of everything in tasters over the course of a few hours and didn't have a bad beer the entire time. These beers are great in cans, but something about a fresh keg pour brought my already-favorite beers to a whole different level. Friendly door man and staff. Nice crowd, but not overcrowded on a Sunday night. I wish these guys had a spot in LA!

It was early afternoon and the place was already packed with revelers. They definitely had a vibe. Friendly service, multiple beer choices. Worth the visit, though mine was brief.

Ask the Community - Other Half Brewing

Given they don't really have food, anyone know if you can bring your own in?

Hell yeah you can.

Has anyone visited on a Monday afternoon? Is it typically more mellow than an evening or the weekend?

I've been there on a weekday at about 3pm and the place was full but not overly crowded or uncomfortable. We were able to find a table.

Are pets allowed in the tasting room?

Yes, I've seen dogs in there, not a problem.

Are there special holiday hours today (4th it July)?

We are open from 12:00pm to 10:00pm!

Where is the best place to park? Can't use the subway. Tuesday around 5 PM

Park on Lorraine St by the self storage.

Why is there long lines around the block sometimes at this place, I've always wondered?

It's for releases of their canned beer. They only sell cans of their extremely popular beer at the brewery and only in small batches. Each style might only get released once a year (or less) hence the huge 4 hour lines. Can releases are announced on… Read more

How do can releases work? For example; certain days and time? limits and line length? Thanks!

They are announced on their Instagram page (with dates and times and sometimes limits). Sometimes limits are based on the release (i.e. Green Diamonds may have a 2 four pack limit). As for lines, can be several hours to none at all...again based on… Read more

A HAITIAN PIZZA BAR OF SORTS…read more One of my co-workers suggested that we meet her after work because: (1) It's walking distance from work...The equivalent of taking the long way home. (2) We both needed a drink after an eventful, extra long work shift. We got the rum punch which was good but too strong for a Tuesday. (3) I had a craving for Haitian-style herring so we shared a herring pizza. Please note I approached this slice with the most apprehension that I ever had in life and was pleasantly surprised with how much I enjoyed it. Their pizza crust has an interesting crunch and flakiness to it that definitely giving homemade with a unique flair. The sauce was holding on to the generous amount of mozzarella while the herring and peppers were the shining star toppings. I enjoyed it so much that I would definitely order it again. If you are looking for a chill bar atmosphere with reimagined Haitian food classics to nosh on then come on in. Thursdays might not be so chill because it's Dance Thursdays and a DJ will be spinning Konpa chunes. It's work a try.

On the positive side, it's a very spacious bar and I saw board games stacked up, which tells me it can be a fun place to hang out. Now to the not as great. I sat at the bar and after looking at their cocktail menu, I ordered a French 75. You can imagine my surprise when I was served a drink in a single rocks glass which is basically what you'd serve an old fashion or other cocktail in. A French 75 needs to be in a flute. And at first, I thought maybe they don't have any flutes. Which still perplexed me because why have a French 75 on the menu if you don't have the right glassware. But I looked behind the bar and lo and behold, saw a flute. So not sure what that was about. The drink itself was ok. The other weird thing is that when I ordered, she rang it up and handed me the handheld device to pay. Since I was sitting at the bar, I'd expect to at least be asked if I wanted to open a tab or to just wait. Payment before the drink was made just rubbed me different. And of course, gratuity was tacked on, also rubbed me wrong. Because while I planned to tip, adding your own tip automatically to 1 drink is icky.

Bartender Camden was welcoming and friendly, it was fun to chat with him on a quiet afternoon. It seemed like she didn't want to be there and anytime I asked questions about the beer, she had an attitude like I was bothering her. I ordered a flight and I enjoyed the beers. They have some great tasting beers on tap. The music was great, it was a blend of 90's jams. They don't serve food, but they allow you to bring in your own. The decor was simple, felt a bit cold and the vibe was chill. It's a small interesting space, when we arrived it was just us and 2 other small parties. When we left, there was a chaotic stroller party happening in the back. The brewery filled up pretty quick on a Saturday afternoon, with one slow moving angry woman pouring beers, it took awhile to get a beer. If the woman behind the bar had provided better customer service, I might have left a higher scoring review. I really wanted to like this place. Will I be back, probably not.

BierWax is a craft beer and vinyl record listening bar that opened in Brooklyn, New York in 2017…read more It was founded by DJ and record collector Chris Maestro. Born in Queens to a Guyanese father and a Dominican mother, Maestro grew up in Flushing, Queens with a fervent love for hip-hop. He started DJing in his early 20s and has collected records obsessively ever since, particularly in genres that gave rise to hip-hop: funk, soul and jazz. He was bitten by the craft beer bug during a trip to Hong Kong in 2005, and his search for new brews led him to craft beer festivals and brewery tours. Early on, Maestro noticed that there weren't a lot of people of color at craft breweries or craft beer bars. He longed to open his own space where people like him could feel right at home and discover new beer in the process. In addition to BierWax's finely curated tap list, the bar is also home to over 5,000 vinyl records. The bar frequently hosts guest DJs as well. BierWax has a strict "No Requests Please" policy--not because of "High Fidelity"-style snobbery, but because there are just too many records to manage. If every customer made a request, the bar would need a dedicated team just to comb through the stacks. And then who would pour the beer? I visited BierWax this past summer while I was cycling around NYC. I was trying out a number of Brooklyn and Queens breweries and pizzerias and this was my second stop of the day. Craft beer and vinyl are two of my favorite loves, so I felt right at home here. Not only was I impressed by the craft beer selection but also the enormous amount of vinyl records adorning the shelves on the wall. There was a great playlist going during my visit and the bartender on duty was a really cool guy who engaged in some great conversation with me. I enjoyed pours of The Seed's "As Simple As Renewal?" (Kellerbier) and The Drowned Lands' "Summer Terra" (Double New England IPA). Both of them were fantastic! Although craft beer bars that feature vinyl are becoming more common now, BierWax is a place that is truly special. I highly recommend this bar to craft beer and/or vinyl aficionados and I really hope to return!
