We had a sake flight. It's a junmai, nigori, and nama. The staff was also very nice and gave us a small tasting of the unpressed nigori. I thought of the three, nama is the best. Deeper, thicker, sweeter. Junmai is similar to our typical sake. The nigori was oddly dry and not as sweet as most nigori. On the other hand the unpressed nigori is more like a typical nigori. You should def try the nama. read more

Kato is great - we stopped in to see my brother-in-law play some jazz on their little stage. The sake flights were great and offer a chance to try a little of everything. As a musician myself, I loved that the staff went around to patrons to encourage a $10 suggested donation for the performers and enforced a 1 drink minimum. It was a warm night and they had their large garage door open, which was great for the music, but a few folks decided not to stay because it was warm. Overall a tiny warehouse-brewery atmosphere (obviously) that is very casual. The only food they have is bags of Japanese snacks but I did see folks getting pizza from next door and bringing it over. read more

Its a nice hangout joint in Bushwick with great live performances and nice food pop ups on the side. Loved their sake-yummyyyyy! They also have outdoor space and on a nice weather day its so wonderful sitting and chatting with friends. Great spot for happy hours too. read more

As a lover of esoteric beverages, I'm thrilled I can now not only get locally brewed makgeolli for celebratory occasions in Greenpoint and make my own kir royales with cassis from the Hudson Valley, but can also enjoy an array of varied sakes made right here in Bushwick. I am no expert in sake, and so opted for the flight - in 2024, I think there are few more delightful ways of passing a late summer afternoon than over such a flight while people watching on Troutman Street. I've come here a few times since throughout the soft opening and have always enjoyed my experience. Each sake they serve is delicious and the service is friendly. We've heard about this place for a while and finally decided to come try it out but is thoroughly disappointed. The sake was just not good, average at best. At first I thought maybe I'm spoiled because I used to work at a sake bar so I've tried a lot of top shelf sakes. But my partner who is not a regular sake drinker also thought it was bad. The sake weren't chilled right so you couldn't taste the crispness of certain sakes, and the nama (unpasteurized) lacked funkiness. And the nigori just wasn't cloudy enough for my taste. The vibe of the place is also off, it felt like we were sitting in some teenagers' garage, not a sake brewery. read more

These people are so nice and the sake is great. They are happy to let you sample each of their three flagship kinds, which are brewed right next to the tasting room and are delicious. They are letting you try them from outside. They literally opened at the start of Corona in March, but they are jovial and have a super positive outlook. They sell by the bottle and prices are reasonable (and already include tax). Say hi and pick up a bottle for you and a friend! read more

Ayako and Shinobu are always happy to answer questions about each variety of the delicious sake and the tasting room has the feel of a Japanese speakeasy. I caught this place during a pre-open and I was really impressed. Saki is something I've drank at japanese restaurants, and never that excitedly. Never thought about buying it to enjoy at home. So, it was really a new experience to have a few different flavors poured for me and explained to me. Being left to sip, and think about which appealed to me, I finally GOT what Saki is all about. It's delicious, its thoughtfully distilled and its very nuanced. I left with a real appreciation. Like, I wanted to buy a bottle to take home. (bottles weren't ready yet). Also, Saki is quite alcoholic, and the pours are like wine pours, and assuming those prices stay where they are, fun fact, you can get drunk efficiently and affordably here on exquisite flavors distilled 10 feet from the bar.
