I really wanted to like Trudie's. The server we had was so attentive, and I like the idea of what they're going for with the food. But for the price, this meal was incredibly mid. The "one big potato pancake" with smoked trout was my fave thing, but TBH not so "big", more like the size of a saucer. We ordered the schnitzel, which was kind of dry, and the swordfish, which was meh. It was served in watermelon gazpacho, which I KNOW is supposed to be served cool. But the swordfish itself was room temp and just felt like it had been sitting around then plonked in the cool gazpacho. Also, the gazpacho was actually way tastier than the fish itself, so at least that's something. The carrot cake for dessert was huge but entirely forgettable, wish we'd gotten another savory dish instead. Also, I know i'm 45 and over the hill, but i promise you when i say it was loud, I mean that we had to SCREECH to hear each other over the music. I go to loud shows all the time, but at an expensive dinner where we're lingering over wine, it would be nice to be able to chat. read more
