As it was a rainy day the afternoon we were here we had to sit inside and not partake on the outdoor picnic table seating area. This restaurant has outdoor movie during the summer. I came here with 3 other people and we were seated at one of those picnic tables. I recommend getting there early if you want to get a good view. The movie doesn't start until dusk. For us, it started at 8pm. The food portion is small. They serve alcohol. You scan the QR code card that is on the table. It shows the online menu. Their outdoor space is super inviting and good for varying temperatures. There are some enclosed areas, fire pits, and lots of seating. I think the outdoor space for this spot is beautiful. There was plenty of seating and there were umbrellas which is so nice when it is hot and sunny in the summer. I got 1 margarita to drink plus chips and guac for food. The food/drinks were ok. They weren't bad but they didn't blow me away either. Service however barely existed. You order everything on an app and then they bring it out to you. While I thought this was fine on its own, the app then automatically charged a 20% tip which I don't appreciate seeing as we didn't have a server or anything. I wonder if the experience would have been better for those sitting inside or in larger groups based on other reviews but that was my experience. read more

After attending an event near by we came here for some food & drinks. We were seated inside, once seated u have to scan the code & place your order all done through that not bad. Drinks I tried the Froze, not like any I've had before odd tasting but not in a bad way if that make sense, I believe the togarashi & Grand Marnie gave it its odd taste. A nice outdoor spot for drinks, with some tasty bites. Some friends and I came through on a Saturday around 2PM. It was just us and one other table. The outdoor space is great, lots if tables, an area with patio furniture, two screened in separate outdoor dining huts, and indoor tables. They had umbrella's available as well for the sun. There is a QR code ordering system. You can't get any of their regular tacos until after brunch ends at 3, we were able to sample from both menus. As a group we had the guac and chips, the "migas" breakfast, burnt ends breakfast taco, the persian breakfast, and the fajita taco. The burnt ends and fajita taco both had really nicely cooked meat, tender and well flavored. The guac and chips was standard and tasty. The "migas" breakfast was a described as a "scotch egg" with crispy masa, peppers, onions, pica, and a flour tortilla. It ended up being simply a medium boiled egg, wrapped in masa and fried, sat on a green sauce with microgreens garnish. It was very bland and tasted like plain masa. Both friends had the "persian" breakfast, only one was ultimately brought out to the table, and he said was only okay (masa, feta, radishes, herbs). We did enjoy their drinks, tasty and seemed strong. We had margaritas on the rocks (on tap), a cold brewtini, and the hemingway. Parklife is a nice place to come with a few friends for some tacos and a few drinks. On my last visit (on a Saturday evening), the drinks were fantastic and the tacos were great. Below is a little more detailed breakdown of my visit: Space: (A) - Nice benches and tables with umbrellas to shield us from the sun, although it was getting dark, so not quite sure if during midday that would be a bit different. There were also a few lawn chairs and sofa-ish chairs outside. Inside the restaurant had nice decor and looked clean. Food & Drinks: (A) - Had the lengua tacos, pulpo, and carnitas 'half smoke' tacos. Lengua was delicious and the pulpo looked exactly as it did in the picture. Pulpo was very interesting, it was a crispy octopus tentacle on a corn tortilla, and it was not chewy and overall worked quite nicely on the taco. The carnitas was fine, however, the tortilla was a bit hard and chewy, so hit or miss. The drinks were good, had a pitcher of the margarita on tap, and it definitely hit the spot (wasn't too strong and very flavorful). Also ordered some guac and chips - guac was good, although the only concern was the number of chips, it was between a small to medium bag size amount. Service: (A) - The hostess and servers were nice, nothing too concerning, and everything moved very smoothly. We barely had to talk to a server as it was all automated via the QR / website ordering service. Price: $$ - The price for some items was a bit much, definitely the drinks were good for the price, and maybe the lengua and pulpo tacos were good for it. The lamb byrani was edible but not good, kind of a weird smell. Also they have crunchy things in them that just get stuck to your teeth and roof of your mouth. There are seats for all group sizes and lots of standing room for minglefests of any kind. * Super family friendly. Park the stroller next to the table and let the kids run amuck in the sand and/or play some shuffleboard. In reality, this is the best park anyone could ask for: let the kids play while the adults imbibe. That's a huge win. * They serve drinks. Not overpriced like the tacos, but a solid selection of wine, brews, and cocktails. Pay at counter or run up a tab and pay later. The part where things could probably be a little better is mainly service oriented. I could complain about the wait for the food, but that's not on Parklife. Instead, I've gotten a bit of attitude from some of the guys pouring the drinks, but nothing major. It's just young guys throwing around some humor and not being all that professional. Awhile back when I was looking for El Atoradero, I actually called Parklife through the listing to see if they could advise on how to find it. The person on the phone was a bit snappy and basically insinuated that our group wasn't too smart. We eventually figured out the joke -- it was all under the same roof. Would I come back to Parklife? A great choice for an outdoor area. I remember coming pre-pandemic and not being super impressed. However, they have greatly improved their menu since and now feature a number of Mexican dishes with homemade masa (dough. The tlaycocos are delicious even if it's at restaurant version of portion size to price. The cocktails are varied and well-crafted, including a number of mocktail options that still sound appealing. Ordering and checkout happens easily on the Union - Own the Night app so you don't have to worry about awkward tab splits or waiting on a receipt at the end of the night. That's perfect since there is a lot of space outside, so it's great for groups. Inside is cozier, but could also hold groups on the smaller size. The best part is they host trivia nights on Tuesdays that are part of NYC Trivia League, which holds trivia in many of the bars I used to frequent in Queens. We like it here now! read more

The "El Atoradero style" Nachos, which are loaded fries, are a great choice, and you should also make sure to add Fries to your steak tacos. On my way out of Brooklyn Boulders, I couldn't help but notice that there was a new addition to the street, inviting me like a siren with its song of an open urban space. Porklife I thought the neon sign said, thinking it was BBQ, and when I got closer, I saw that it was instead Parklife, a place for Mexican food and drinks. Luckily, I didn't care for this substitution error. The space is super cute, a lot of outdoor seating with bench and table seating, all zen with rocks and greenery. There's a converted shipping container (of course) that looked to be more for beer. Inside, there was a bar area for proper cocktails and the kitchen where you could order tacos, burritos, nachos etc. I opted to try two tacos (2 for $7) - Shrimp, and Chorizo. As well, I couldn't help but order the nacho fries ($13). The tacos were pretty good, but the salsa bar (3 salsas) could've used more heat and variety. The nacho fries were the highlight, although pricey is a huge portion to share. I'd say two people could eat JUST that. So I'd share with more if wanting to get other things. This is probably the closest I could get to having San Diego style carne asada fries but with customization. The nacho fries by default come with cheese, cotija, crema, guac, beans, pickled jalapeño. I didn't care for the beans or pickled jalapeño, so I'd take those out and add carne asada on top next time. The cocktails here were great, although pricey for the portion ($11-13 in a small plastic cup). I had the "It Was All A Dream" (Rum, Passionfruit Condensed Milk, OJ, Amaro, Allspice, Mint) which was basically a creamy hurricane, so I loved it. I can def see myself coming and chilling on lazy days and after BKB workouts, but not as often or for as long because of the pricing unless they start to do some happy hour or other specials. read more

Let me start by saying that we went on a very cold night for outdoor seating and some of these issues are absolutely due to the environment caused by that. The heater they provided on the table blew out twice - by blow out I mean a fireball pushed out towards our faces likely due to a push of gas. It was pretty dangerous actually, they took it back after the first time and said they fixed it then it happened a second time and the several other parties at different tables looked over at us because it was so loud and visible. It didn't appear that anyone else had an issue with the heater at the table, for what that's worth. After that, they were hospitable in that they provided us complimentary blankets for the remainder of dinner, which we appreciated very much! The ordering process was easy and each person can order and pay on their own food and drinks. You scan the QR code associated with/on your table and there are food runners dropping food off. Turn around time between ordering and receiving food was very quick, which was nice. They also have great COVID protocols with taking temperature, logging information and a thorough (if not lengthy) policy review you must complete before being seated. We started with Guacamole which was just really under-seasoned. Some salt and lime and they would have been in a much better spot. All the hot food was room temperature at best upon arrival to our table. Again, definitely a problem with the outside temperature. It just didn't seem like they were heated enough inside first which could have helped combat the weather a little. Let me say, though, the vegetarian taco was the star for me this night [Huitlacoche (Mexican truffle), taro, Persian pickle aguachile, corn tortilla (V+GF)]. The flavors were fantastic and truly unlike any other combination I've had before. The pulpo taco also was interesting. The octopus was cooked well but flavor was lacking and it would have ate better if it was cut differently. For lack of a better comparison, it kind of reminded me of eating a hot dog because the tentacle was so large and untreated. The frito pie was also an interesting play on the normal dish by making it into a fritter. The grilled steak tlacoyos was a good dish. The steak was seasoned well and avocado sauced brought the otherwise dry masa back to life. I'm not familiar with this dish but the base was masa stuffed with black beans and ultimately ended up being bulky compared to the steak and topping. My drink was really rough, (MANZANA BLANCA - Barking Irons White Night overproof applejack whiskey, Giffard rhubarb, lemon, egg white, orange bitters) the egg white was disproportionate to the other ingredients so it had an off-putting smell and taste. I didn't get any citrus flavor whatsoever, I could not get past the unpleasant egg white issue. I ended up getting an EXPERIENCIA RELIGIOSA (Altos Blanco Tequila, kiwi palo santo shrub, lime, ginger) to drink instead which was much better. I enjoyed the drink but did not taste any ginger as advertised, it truly reminded me of a margarita. I did like the dehydrated kiwi garnish though! For dessert we tried the churros, they were cold and tasted bland but the dipping chocolate had a nice kick to it. I would not go back here, sadly. I think there were certain things out of their control but they missed the mark on other items. I'm certain it would be a better experience in warmer weather or when indoor seating comes back but I think some attention to detail and consistency with the food would have helped avoid some of the other issues we had. read more

Came in with a few friends for some drinks -- my first mistake. We walked through their cute outdoors to be met with a series of interrogations via sign-ins, a daily password, and multiple QR codes. Ordered our drinks and snacks online but the three sweet items we got were all salty?? Why were the churros salty?? Why were the homemade fruitrolls also salty?? I'm so glad my partner found this bar/restaurant. It was a great place to meet with friends and walking distance. The staff was very friendly and even offered to move us from outdoor tables to indoor when it got chilly for our baby we had both tacos and tiyacos which were all tasty. The queso and guacamole were on point. They show movies twice a week Sunday and Wednesday. Golden globe view parties etc all look fun. Apparebtly in the before times it was a great spot to let your children run around while adults imbibe. Now it's more contained which is totally understandable. Would recommend! read more

The current menu appears mostly Tex Mex. I am one of those fussy only "only eat Mexican food in Mexico" eaters, who is hard to please. Yet, I'll take guacamole and tequila anywhere. One taco is rather small and costs $6. When it comes to tacos, I judge them by this cart that parks outside of Elsewhere, so please consider the source. Cuomo's odd law about having to eat "a sufficient amount of food" while drinking is too confusing to follow...might just be better to eat home alone until this city FULLY reopens and we don't have to worry about Cuomo's fines or Covid. To stay safe during Covid, Parklife requires you to log onto their website and do all orders from your phone (I believe with electronic payments card only). So bring a charged phone and your electronic bank information. Tips are already included, which I'm OK with. I'm not sure if Park Life will add Cuomo's 10% surcharge, which could be a deal breaker. In Park Slope, some restaurant owners think the 10% surcharge is "stupid"...we will see what happens. I enjoy Park Life's outside movies, but the email reservation process is confusing (probably due to the popularity of rare outside nightlife events). Before the movie, there is usually a talented host who entertains with fun trivia that movie fans have a stab at actually getting correct answers. The actual movie "screen" is just a wall, so don't expect crisp and clear resolution. It's best to arrive very early to a decent seat. Wish Littlefield, which promotes ParkLife, was open! Littlefield is where you go for a fun night with Grade A Celeb comedians. Hope Park Life gets some heaters...this outside dining is getting COLD. Alas, there has been an increase in crime in this neck of the woods, so it's best to walk home with friends with eyes on the back of their heads after dark. The Union Street subway station has become a trouble spot, so might be best to just get here from the subway at Barclay's Atlantic Avenue or call Arecibo Car Service, which is very close at (718) 783-6465. read more

Shady business practices! I was hired at Parklife as a bartender and worked 2 shifts after which they decided not to hire which is fine, their loss. The problem is that they refused to pay me which is illegal. They tried to claim the 2 shifts were a working interview but actually had me making drinks during both shifts. They refused to pay me for my time and I was forced to file a claim with the NY Department of labor. I'm glad to say that I won my case because what they did was blatantly illegal. What kind of employer would try to take advantage of someone for a measly 60 bucks? I'm sure that they try to pull this scam with other new hires and am thankful that the department of labor agreed with me. I'd never support a business that attempts to take advantage of their workers like this. read more

First they brought water and plastic cups to the table and our food and drinks arrived shortly after we ordered them online but it wasn't a very busy day for them. I'm rating only four stars because I think the portion of guac they gave us was a bit small for the price. Other than that we were all very pleased with our drinks. Their new menu is garbage compared to the delicious tacos and nachos that everyone posted about in previous reviews. For warning, basically up until October 2019 they had, what I consider awesome Mexican food for a SOLID price! It was amazing. Then they tried to become more boujee and mainstream. What was wrong with the carious style nachos, enchiladas and tacos???? Seriously, this used to be the only place in a 10mile radius that had really good street-style Mexican food. Now they have over priced pockets of goo with slimy chicken on top. I'm bummed, my shuffle board team is bummed.
