Definitely worth arriving early to hold a table and enjoy happy hour, as it fills up quick. Dog friendly too, which is a plus in my book. I stopped in after a medical appointment on a Tuesday 5:30 12/9/25 and had a surprisingly unpleasant experience with the bartender. I asked a simple question about available mixers because it was happy hour and I'm keto and his tone immediately became hostile and dismissive. He then began loudly cursing about staff, getting food options and management in front of customers. As someone who frequents Atlantic Ave often and brings out-of-town guests and clients to local spots, this was disappointing. I usually support neighborhood businesses, but the energy and professionalism were far below what I expect from any hospitality establishment. The restaurant on the next street was warm, helpful, and kind -- a clear contrast -- so I took my business there instead. I hope the management addresses this, as the location itself has potential, but the service made it a place I cannot recommend. read more

I want to like The Brazen Head more. The inside is surprisingly nice, and they have an outdoor space in the back. Pretty good for a pub on Atlantic! However, the service here was horrendous. They had one bartender for the entire place, and he was incredibly inept. The poor guy couldn't keep up with customers, even during a relatively calm period. Bad communication, no sense of urgency at all...might be time to hire someone who actually knows how to treat customers better, and how to pour beer. Maybe it was an off night, but it's always disappointing having to wait almost 15 minutes just to order a beer. That shouldn't be the case in general, and especially not at a pub! read more

The Brazen is a solid option for some drinks on Atlantic Avenue. The place is wide and has a backyard, so it's perfect for a crew of people. The setup is a little odd, as you get closer to the back, where the bathrooms are, it gets a little more narrower. With the bathrooms there, it can get a little congested in the back, before the backyard. So I'd recommend setting up shop directly in the backyard or a little more upfront on a busy day. They offer a wide selection of tap beers and bottles/cans. They do some decent well drinks and have some good beer/shot combos. It's a nice place to chill and hang with a group. Especially on a nice day in the back. Highly recommend if strolling down Atlantic. read more

The bouncer's (DANIEL) behavior was so unbelievably rude that it bordered on literally calling the police for harassment charges. We called ahead and yet we're told to "f*** off" in spite of incredibly affable behavior. "Not allowed to be out there" in spite of purchasing expensive scotch... GRABBED the drink and poured it out. Then physically THREATENED my 5'2" girlfriend (all but threw her to the ground). Mind you, we are regulars, know the rules, are polite and called ahead to make sure of the stipulations. The bartender (NICK) apologized for his clearly unprofessional behavior... comped my girlfriend a drink... but nothing compared to what was purchased. Came here with a page out of the Brooklyn Pub Pass. The Brazen Head is the textbook definition of a "neighborhood watering hole." It was filled with locals taking advantage of the happy hour specials and complimentary cheese and crackers set up towards the back. The bar is known for its rotating snack availability to patrons and its stellar drink menu. We've all seen bars that offer board games to customers during their stay, but books? That's a new one. The BH had a stand of books by the entrance for its customers to flip through while they imbibe. This is an introvert's dream! Their beer menu is very crafty, and they also have a decent spirit and wine menu as well. They have a selfie station in the back where you're able to use props and tag the Brazen Head on your social media posts. They also have a dart board which is where I spent most my night last night. The BH has cozy couches in all 4 corners of the establishment. They also have outdoor seating for when it gets warm. Aside from the complimentary finger foods, they have potato chips and goldfish available for purchase at the bar. If all fails, you can always bring in food from outside. The service was warm, welcoming, and fast. I can see why it's such a popular hangout spot. I would definitely return when I'm in the area. read more

So I see plenty of reviews giving this much less credence than it deserves. This place is a definition of your local bar and the clientele respect the same. Everyone here is friendly, well almost all bartenders but this one, and trust me you'll know from her matter a fact attitude. I don't enjoy her but the rest of the staff is affable and helpful and makes a hell of a drink. They also have very good hotdogs here to sustain during those heavy drinking days. Their tap list is always revolving and always interesting. The low rating don't serve this place justice as it's a golden unknown gem in the heart of Brooklyn!! read more

Cool bartenders. 3. Excellent signage game. I've smirked more than once as I walked by. 4. Good beer. Good prices. Good seating. Good happy hour. 5. They were the only bar open during that weird, intense blizzard we had that was the only snow all winter. And they didn't care that we carried in a dozen pizzas, and generally caused mayhem. I am really not a bar person, because I have just never gotten around to it basically. It took me going to a UYE to make myself go to a bar, and it was totally worth it. I usually just go out to listen to music and dance, and sometimes drink but it is so expensive. Well, at the Brazen Head, it is not expensive at all. And, if you drink about 3-4 of the specials, you just might dance. During my visit, the lovely bartender was making Spiced Apple Cider with Rum for only $5. It is also what I would normally call a "double." It was delicious and nutritious. Everyone here was cool and we did not feel rushed, and we sat here for hours. All the drinks we had were great, and decently priced. The bartender was really sweet, and the even the owner stopped by to say hello. Definitely a small town feeling in the big city. read more

The Brazen Head is a great local bar pretty much in my 'hood located on the ever bustling Atlantic Avenue. I've always walked by this joint while perusing shops and have been wanting to go for a while now. Monday night seemed like the perfect incentive to go because of three reasons: 1. It was only 2 blocks from the pick up spot for the Brooklyn "Road Trip to Red Lobster" Event hosted by CM Peter D... 2. It was my birthday and this birthday girl was going to have a drink (or two) to start the night off right... 3. It showed on their menu that they would be serving pumpkin ale ON TAP (which as many of you should have noticed by now, I loveeeee pumpkin ale)... All great reasons, right? I got their around 5:30 pm and the bar was pretty much full save for a full seats near the patio side in the back. After sitting down with my friend who had arrived before me, my eyes automatically went to the giant bowl of munch food that was sitting before us on the counter. Fritos, Doritos, Cheetos and pretzels?! Yes please! Bring on the Hepatitis! I was then told that they offer free buffalo wings on Monday nights. SHUT THE FRONT DOOR. How do they profit from that!? My friend Jon who was accompanying grabbed me a few and I set to work on those immediately. I'm not saying they tasted amazing because they were free and I was a beer in but wow, those were some good wings. Once they learned it was my birthday, I got a drink on the house! Not that it mattered to my wallet since I didn't pay for a drink all night but the gesture was much appreciated. The bartender was very laid back and made sure we were tended to till we left to catch the trolley. The owner (who is also on the Brooklyn community board apparently) was such a nice guy who casually talked about opening bars in the borough and my pumpkin ale for a bit. I believe he said it was from Chelsea and one of his favorites. Pretty delicious pumpkin ale I must say. I might or might not have had three pints of the stuff! What a great little place to grab a drink with friends. Unpretentious, affordable, free wings on Monday nights and pumpkin ale- what else can this girl ask for? Came here last night two meet 2 of my girlfriends before heading to a Yelp event that was about 2 or 3 blocks away. I like Brazen Head. I had never been here or even heard of it, but it's a pretty neat little neighborhood bar that isn't too hip, isn't douchey-fratty and doesn't make itself try to be something lame or overly themed. Bars that don't take themselves too seriously and are just innately 'cool' - +1. Just your regular neighborhood bar filled with tons of publications, posters and flyers that support local art and events. Cool, I like when bars do this because you should totally support the neighborhood that supports you - +1. Great selection of beers here, especially as far as seasonal craft brews (and even cask ale!) go. I had the SeaDog Apricot Wheat Ale, wasn't my first time - but it had been awhile and it tasted glorious. My fellow beer-loving friend got a South Hampton Double and it was all sorts of refreshing, crisp and delicious. I also like that you can get any draft beer in 3 different sizes (S/M/L) so in case you want to try something new, you don't have to make a commitment to a pint glass in case you don't like it and this also makes for "wallet-friendly" beer sampling! - +1. Couple this with friendly bartenders, good weekly happy hour specials, free party mix in a super generous bowl + a sweet looking backyard for outdoor boozing and you've got yourself a neat little bar! - +1. I don't have much to say about the Brazen Head. I've heard of it before and always see it pop up as a place for happy hour deals in Brooklyn. It was near-ish a yelp event we were going to and I needed to kill an hour after work. They have a special every single day. Yesterday's was a shot plus a pbr for $4 and not something I was in the mood for. But during happy hour everything on draft is a $1 off and you can also get a half of a pint of something if you're not up to drinking something too huge. Kind of a neat deal. Traditional Irish pub and there is a back patio. OH! They had party mix with the Cheetos and doritos inter-mixed. Big plus because I didn't eat anything yesterday and that was my lunch/dinner. When I first walked into Brazen head, trust me within 5 minutes I was going to one star this place and leave. We sat down for atleast 10 minutes . . . granted I was on the phone trying to get some answers about a car I was going to rent from Avis across the street, but that is another story. Nobody came to serve us, it was so dark inside and it wasn't very inviting. Finally I walk up to the bar tender and he greets with a smile and I got their $5 beer special and a tequilla sunrise. Okay, wait for it . . . the guy doesn't know how to make a Tequilla Sunrise . . . it is his first day on top of it. Just my luck LOL. He makes the first one with no ice and too much Grenadine . . . what the hell? It was just a terrible experience. On top of that they offer free chicken wings on Monday and there was none left when we got there. It was before 9 p.m. and they start at 5 and close at like 2 or 4 . . . so they must just put one bunch out and first come first served. That sucked. So why the 3 stars? After that moment the place became a gem in my eyes. First off, they give you this big glass of cold beer for a reasonable price. Real good Beer and great value for the price. Then my girl walks up to the guy and she tells the guy how to make a proper Tequilla Sunrise. Obviously she embillished on the amount of tequilla you are supposed to use, but she became a happy camper LOL. We met her mom and stepfather at this spot and really it was the ultimate zone in my eyes, we were having a great time, the music was at a good level, you could go out and smoke if you wanted to, good people inside. Three strong beers later I just knew I was nice . . . and happy that I wasn't in Florida and drove my car lol. Even better that I had my Groupon for this place and saved. Y'all know how I does :) Even played a few darts before I left. I can't give it higher than a 3 star because of the start, but I'm coming back when I am in Brooklyn. Two tips to make this a real good experience. If they are offering free food, get there early. There won't be any left after an hour or 2. Also come here for the beer, yea it is a full bar, but they specialize in beer. Unless it is martini night, stick to the beer. I've been searching for a new bar to frequent on a regular basis, and I think I may have found just that at The Brazen Head. Beers are all moderately priced, yay, and the happy hour goes late. If you want to impress whiskey people, they also have pours available for $9-14. This is a rare bar that's good for groups. There are plenty of tables and a cozy booth up front that's great for a party. I LOVE that you can bring food in, just today I saw a few dudes chowing down on Chipotle at the bar. On Sundays there are free bagels (!) and $5 mimosas, $6 bloodies. Not bad for day drinking! read more

Wow I thought I reviewed this place years ago. It's a real old school neighborhood bar. It's one of the few bars I've been to where there's a real mix of young and old. This isn't a hipster joint at all, just a laid back place where the locals go. Beers are about normal priced but they have some good craft beers and daily specials. They even offer free food during some of their daily specials. If you're into cask ales they're the place to go for that, especially during one of their "cask beer festivals". One of my favorite features are their back patio, it's small and no frills but still has a number of stools and seats. They also have a dart board inside but you have to pass between the thrower and the dart board to go outside. I real design flaw but I'm glad they've kept the board. read more

I've been to The Brazen Head and enjoyed it each time. I don't work too far so it's often a place I come to with my colleagues. The drinks are good and depending on who the bartender is the play list is pretty awesome. I love a place where I can go and sing along to every song or learn a new song I can't wait to download. There's a medium sized patio out back for those summer nights and day drinking opportunities. There's also two large sections in the front window areas that is nice for groups of about 5-8 people. There are also several televisions so you can catch a game if you desire. They don't serve food but you can bring in food from outside. The last time I was there I saw a menu from the gumbo restaurant near by so that's one option for food. Overall, it's a great local spot to grab a drink, hang with friends, listen to music, and/ or watch the game. read more

Brazen Head is a cute local bar that I was delighted to discover is easy to find from the C Hoyt-Schmerhorn station. They had a pretty meh happy hour special however they had a great selection of beers! I enjoyed an amazing SeaDog Apricot Wheat Ale and one of my new favorite drinks: malibu rum, sprite and cranberry juice. That unique mix was created for me after I asked the bartender what it was and he started making it. I actually really liked the service, the bartenders were very attentive and informative when two other of my girlfriends were asking questions. PS, draft beers come in small, medium and large sizes! Hooray! No worries about having your wallets raped here, folks (even if you don't get beer!). My one gripe - the party mix bowls. They have very large sized bowls with generous portions of delicious party mix but come on, how unsanitary to have a bowl out for EVERYONE to share? Do you know where their hands have been and what you're putting in your mouth? Yikes. May I suggest personal bowls for everyone or would that be asking too much? (Note that my girlfriends and I had a bowl re-filled for us with untouched party mix as per our request.) Overall, I did like this place. The service was great and thought it was great they had daily happy hour specials. Also, this place seems to have a cute little outdoor space. Cask beer. What more do I need to say? Well, not just cask beer, but they will serve beers on cask that you don't normally get to experience unless you're traveling to England. Most pubs with a hand-pump serve IPAs because an IPA will keep longer due to the high hop content. It's a good pub that serves a brown ale or something more daring on cask (the only other local establishment I can think of is The Chip Shop). I also like their website and how I can check what's on cask before heading there. Overall... CASK BEER (which you can get for 5 bucks on Tuesdays). Bartenders are super nice too and the ambience is great. Also a back garden. read more
