This was my fifth visit to this bakery, and I have to say that it is still, in my opinion, the best bakery in New York. On this visit, I was buying bread for three different friends as gifts, so I naturally needed a little extra time to make my selections and place my order. Unfortunately, the staff member serving me appeared extremely impatient throughout the process and even criticized me for not explaining my order clearly. I completely understand that there were customers waiting behind me and that the staff needs to keep the line moving. However, I believe every customer deserves to be treated with patience and respect. If I am spending over $120 on your products, I don't think it's unreasonable to expect five minutes of patience while I carefully choose my order. I truly love this bakery and will continue recommending it because the quality of the bread is exceptional. I only hope the customer service can better reflect the quality of the products. Dropped by Radio Bakery on the Tuesday morning after Memorial Day and the lines weren't too crazy. I got there in time to grab some breakfast items and baked goods, and then waited at a table outside for the lunch items to get set out around 11AM. I'm usually more of a savory girlie but all the sweet items we tried were great, especially the rhubarb croissant and the earl grey morning bun. I really enjoyed the focaccia sandwiches (smoked salmon and pea/mint/feta were elite) and the artichoke green garlic slice. The flavor of the sesame stirato was excellent but the bread itself was a tad too chewy for the filling we got with it (tuna salad), so that style probably works better with the jambon beurre. Will definitely be on the rotation whenever I'm in the city -- would love to try some of their seasonal/limited edition items one day, though not sure if I have it in me to brave the lines that can form on the weekends, lol! Food: This is a well-known and very popular bakery in Brooklyn. They offer a variety of savory sandwiches as well as pastries, cookies, and sweets. Sandwiches include rosemary butter and ham, tuna fish, roast beef, burrata and prosciutto, and more. We tried the roast beef with chimichurri, a blueberry pastry, and pistachio croissant. All three items were high quality and delicious! Items are a bit pricey (those three items totaled about $37), but the quality definitely justifies the prices. All of the baked goods were beautiful and looked perfect. If you are in Greenpoint, I would recommend you stop by this bakery. Service: Staff are extremely friendly, pleasant, and welcoming. I was still deciding when it was my turn in line, and all staff members were patient and encouraged me to take my time. Ambiance: The bakery is small with about four counter seats along the window, but there are plenty of tables and chairs set up outside. There was a line but it moved super quickly! I got the turkey pesto which was amazing! For the size, the price is a little hefty but overall an amazing sandwich! This place definitely lives up to the hype! The food here is amazing, and when I say food, I mean more than just the baked goods. Starting off with the baked goods, the brown butter corn cake may be the single best pastry I've had in my life. It has a great crispy exterior and a super moist and decadent interior that just makes it the best pastry you could ever ask for. I also think they have one of the best chocolate chip cookies in the city, and their cinnamon roll is light yet executed perfectly. In addition to their pastries, their sandwiches are amazing. My favorite is this chili crisp tofu sandwich. It is packed with great flavor, perfectly tender tofu, and is layered between two pieces of delicious bread. I also love their arugula burrata prosciutto sandwich that is paired so nicely with their focaccia, making each bite the ultimate experience. While I've never waited in a really long line, I can say that they do move pretty efficiently. I've been seeing this spot all over social media so I was excited to check it out! I came on a weekend morning at 9:30 and waited 20-30min which wasn't bad at all. I thought it would take longer. Went with a big group so we got to try a lot of different things! On a Monday morning there was surprisingly a line down the block but it moved pretty quickly so I'd say it's worth it. When you get inside it can be pretty crowded and hectic so be ready to make quick decisions about what you want. Our favorites were all the focaccia breads for sure-especially the chive and sausage one. For the pastries my personal favorites were the earl grey morning bun which had a nice strong early grey flavor and good layers and crisp on the outside. Lucky me for coming here on a random weekday morning with no line at all. My absolute favorite pastry here is their French Onion Soup Tart ($8). It's so creamy and comforting just like French onion soup but on a flaky crust. Honestly, I need to pair this with actual French onion soup to dip into. The focaccia are also a must here. I decided to try the Bacon, Egg, and Cheese Focaccia ($8.50) since I had their Lox one before already. If you're a lox lover, definitely get that one though --even better than a bagel! The BEC focaccia is very heavy though, so I couldn't finish it all in one sitting. But it will fill you up for a meal or two by itself. One of the best bakeries I've been to! Everything we had was amazing, I could order multiple of everything and not get tired of it. We were initially drawn to Radio Bakery after they announced their weekend special of the mango lassi croissant. We saw online it's best to arrive prior to the 10am drop to get one, so we stood in line an hour before to ensure we'd get it. While waiting for the croissant to drop we ordered their brown butter corn cake, triple chocolate croissant and everything focaccia with scallion cream cheese. I LOVED the brown butter corn cake. It was a subtle sweetness and so moist and delicious. The focaccia sandwich was amazing as well. The bread tasted fresh and was so good with the scallion cream cheese. The triple chocolate croissant was incredible, and reminded me of a lighter brownie taste. Finally when 10am hit we ordered the mango lassi croissant. First time coming in person (I have been spoiled and a fantastic coworker would bring in different treats from here on occasion). The space is relatively small, with a line inside and outside and a few tables outside. The length of the line and wait time varies based on the time of day and if you go on a weekday vs weekend. Go early if you don't want them to sell out of anything or purposely go a little later if you want one of their lunch sandwiches on focaccia. I have had the tomato and garlic focaccia twice now and each time it has been exceptional. Minor critique, the slices of garlic could be a bit smaller. I also had the shakshuka focaccia which is divine and I would absolutely recommend both. I need to come back to try their sandwiches as well. Everybody raves about Radio Bakery in Greenpoint. I came here twice during my most recent New York visit. First trip: I got lucky--came around 9:20am on a rainy cold winter Monday with slushy snow on the ground. There was no line when I entered, but after I made my order, I turned around and a line had exploded behind me. Tried these out with my morning tea and green smoothie. Unless otherwise noted, I took a few bites of each for breakfast, and saved the rest for later. 1. Earl grey morning bun ($6): I had no idea a bun could be this flaky with a delicious symphony of crackling crunchy skin. The earl grey flavor was strong, as a fan of earl grey tea, I can see why this is a best seller. Devoured this in one sitting. 2.Apple brown butter croissant ($7, seasonal): crunchy and delectable! Apples glisten like jewels in the middle. Not very sweet (which is good! That's an Asian compliment for sweets!), with some salt mixed into the sugar for salty and sweetness (more sweet though!). I had to put this down after a few bites so I could eat other pastries! 3. French onion soup croissant ($8, seasonal): aesthetically makes me think of egg tarts. Onion has perfect smooth texture atop a silky egg mix. As if an omelette and French onion soup and croissant had a threesome lol. Finished this in one sitting. 4. Scallion sesame twist: $6: I love scallions (I am Taiwanese after all), but this wasn't as crunchy as the other croissants. It was very soft, and not in a pillowy, decadent way. More meh. Very underwhelming after biting into the previous pastries. It tastes like something I can get at any Asian chain bakery. 5. Pistachio croissant: $8: I love pistachios in desserts (like Middle Eastern desserts), and this made me think of baklava in croissant form, minus the sticky mess from honey. I was surprised by how structurally sound the croissant is as I bit into it with a satisfying crunch, and the croissant exterior held firm, and the pistachios were surprisingly crunchy! The fluffy interior is green with strong pistachio flavor. 6. Black Forest croissant ($10): I saved this for last because it's the most dessert-y selection. This ended up being my least favorite one by far. I loved Black Forest cake as a kid, not so much as an adult, but I was curious to see how it tasted in croissant form. This was nice and firm, but it was super rich with chocolate, with a bit of cherry filling, which u wish there was more of. The cream on top was super thick and heavy, topped with a dark maraschino cherry. Too overwhelming for me, though I'm sure that's the appeal to some people. I had to take a few more bites from the scallion sesame twist as a palate cleanser. Second trip: Came at 7:37am on Dec 31, and the line already snaked out the door. Took me about 25 minutes from lining up to getting out the door. 1. Brown butter corn cake: one bite, and woah! It's crispy and crunchy, giving way to heavenly sweet brown butteriness in rich corn cake! Never had corn cake like this! 2. Passion fruit: This took Black Forest croissant's place. sweet, fruity, citrusy, not too overwhelming, and even though I don't care for cream, it wasn't too overwhelming. Since I really enjoyed the heirloom tomato croissant the last time I went to Radio Bakery, I wanted to get it again so I went back in October guess what? It might have been better warmed up but I just thought that the saltiness from the salt and sweetness from the maple sausage were too overpowering. I think the croissant itself was also coated in maple syrup so that made it even more sweeter. I've heard so much about Radio Bakery, and I'm afraid to say, this is one of those overly hyped establishments that doesn't live up to the buzz... I came during Thanksgiving weekend, so the line was brief. I tried two items: the ham and rosemary butter sandwich and the cheese bear claw. While the sandwich was decent, the bear claw was disappointing. All of the cheese leaked out of it, leaving nothing inside. And like I said, the sandwich was decent but not amazing. Just ordinary. Let's start with my total $37 ($5.52 tip) for 2 items - the ($17) Turkey Kale Pesto Focaccia Sandwich & the daily special (was it really $14.50?) Beach Pie Croissant (basically a lemon-lime curd pie with a flaky crust). More like a 3.75 overall, 4.5 for the quality of the food. The 2 items I got were made SO well, fresh ingredients, you can taste every component of the item. Did a lot of Yelp & internet research so I wouldn't have ordering anxiety and I am very glad I landed on these 2 items (not going to waste my time on a brown butter corn cake!). Would've been even better if the pie croissant was the passionfruit one that they were selling last week. You really can't go wrong with food that's literally made hours before. Nothing was overly greasy or heavy - the (mostly) perfect ratios! The sandwich was a good generous portion. The bubbly focaccia was light but with medium texture. At first, I was annoyed that I got a corner piece, thinking that the edges would be tough - but it wasn't and actually made for some nice contrast. The kale was generally dressed (not sure what kind of dressing it had on it, it was decently oily) - LOVE a good kale salad. The only thing I would've liked would be a little bit more turkey and a tiny bit less pesto (got a bit salty 3/4 of the way through). The pesto was delicious though, very nutty. The circular "croissant" Beach Day was basically a lemon-lime meringue pie with a nice croissant layered "pie shell." I was in the area around 11:30 AM on a Saturday in January. There was a line of about 10 people out front (maybe 20 more inside) & it wasn't a bad wait at all! About 10-15 minutes. When you get inside, it's basically a zig-zag line to the counter. Their staff is efficient! & also very friendly. The shop is on the same block as the G Subway entrance & really not too hard to get to (or by B62) even though social media says it's "deep in Brooklyn" - it's just Greenpoint/Williamsburg! My review is 3.75 because it's basically a to-go only shop. There's a few small tables set up outside on the sidewalk, but it's also 16°F outside and overall, isn't the best ambience (all year) next to a busy line. And the 3.75 is for the price point!! $$ which is just extremely high. Yes, they had a huge staff working & baking there & I'm sure rent is high. But is a $17 sandwich & $14 pastry worth it? (I don't think S-permoon B-kehouse or S-omeday B-kery is this expensive). The regular flavored croissants at Radio are $7-8 each, which is more comparable to those shops. LOOK at the tiny corner of the display signs for the prices. Go slow! FYI The payment screen at checkout automatically lands on 22%. 20% & 18% are options also. This place has no inside seating, a couple tables outside, the line is most likely out the door, no bathrooms and it will be pricey. In my mind, this place is worth it. We are talking about high quality ingredients, seasonal flavors, attention to details and lots of butter. I mainly am treat and coffee focused. Maybe one day I will do a sandwich but not today. The line is long and it gets longer. It goes fast. If you are patient, it's worth it. If you are a native New Yorker like my boyfriend, maybe find another spot. These are not massive portions. And he does not like lines. But he did enjoy the chocolate peanut croissant I ordered. I have literally never had a bad bite. The Brown Butter Apple was perfection. This place lived up to the hype. I came here around 11:15 on a Wednesday and was thrilled to find that the line was just a few folks deep. I stepped in and took a quick survey of what was left -- still plenty of focaccia sandwiches (though the salmon one I wanted was sadly not available), plus plenty of baked goods. This is definitely a grab and go type of place. Ambiance is hectic. I went with the black sesame scallion twist since I was feeling in more of a savory mood. I've heard so much about this spot but never got the chance to go until recently. We went on a Monday morning around 11am, and there wasn't much of a wait but it was still packed inside nonetheless. They have a window bar for you to enjoy your pastries at, otherwise, all seating is outside. We got their croissant, earl grey morning bun, apple brie croissant, and their roast beef sandwich. Everything was delicious. The favorite of the day was definitely the apple brie croissant--which I did not expect to like as much as I did. I loved how fragrant the tea flavor was in the earl grey morning bun, and loved how crispy it was. The croissant was also an all-around standard great croissant, and the roast beef sandwich was a heart lunch bite. Such a disappointment. Glad I went on a Tuesday morning at 9 AM when there were maybe a handful people inside and all the tables were available. Salmon Foccacia was cold and hard. Had to literally chew the hell out of it. Earl grey morning bun was cold as well. Brown butter cornbread - again cold, dry and way too sweet. Only thing decent was the black forest croissant which was honestly just ok but better than the rest. So many 4-5 star reviews mention that these things are actually dry and better warmed up so why can't the bakery serve warm items to patrons who want to sit and eat on the spot especially if they cost anywhere between $10-$12 per item. That's the least they can do if they are charging an outrageous amount for something you can get for 1/2 the price elsewhere. People who say that the smoked salmon focaccia is out of this world or the brown butter cornbread is the best thing to touch their mouth are probably living in a bubble. To say this is one of the best bakery in a city like NYC full of amazing bakeries is an abomination. I honestly don't understand if you open at 7:30 AM and I am there at 9 AM how is everything so cold, dry and hard? $60 down the drain. Well, at least I didn't stand in line for two hours. read more

I think the key to Radio Bakery's success is their creativity and execution. Flavor combinations are elite and delivered deliciously! Their seasonal menu of sandwiches and pastries always have people coming back! Despite the long lines, they actually move pretty quick. I do recommend getting their early and planning ahead of where you'd be eating since they only have a handful of outdoor tables. They do have a couple of parks and cute streets nearby. Staff are polite and efficient. The turkey, basil pesto, and marinated kale always hits. I love the balance between protein and veggie, the herbaciousness and freshness of the basil pesto, and the combo of savoriness, some fats/oils, and a hint of citrus. Their focaccia bread is always very fluffy and chewy with a nice crunch on the outside! The burrata, fresh basil, and prosciutto gives similar vibes with a well-rounded sandwich. The burrata was fresh and ratio of cheese, meat, to herb was appropriate. The roasted beef and radicchio was another interesting combination. The radicchio conferred a slight bitterness that balanced the slight sweet and tang from the sauce and saltiness of the beef/chimichurri. For pastries, their seasonal rhubarb custard tart was a great mix of melty, creamy custard with a sweet and slightly tangy rhubarb stem. The asparagus croissant and bear claw were both savory pastries that were very solid and flaky.
