Julian was very personable, and we enjoyed conversing with him. I ordered the Bee Sting, which was a Bee's Knees with kick thanks to the addition of Anchos Reyes. Mom & Sis had the Blackberry Bramble. I had a sip. It was delicious & refreshing. This place has a rustic interior and a warm vibe. It bills itself as a neighborhood Bar & Grill. I can see why. Nice place and it wasn't too packed just a right amount of folks to keep the vibe right. We order a few drinks and order some food. I love Prospect because it's reliably delicious, affordable, clean, and has friendly staff. I would order anything off the menu without question whether it'll be good or not - everything at Prospect is solid. Most recently I came here with my mom and aunt, and I ordered wings, which were surprisingly spicy for a person that loves heat. My mom got chicken fingers which came with 7 - 8 pieces (perfectly crispy), and a side of brusslesprouts, which were also delicious. My aunt got a big kale salad, we were all happy. Normally I go for brunch. Yes $4 bloody Mary's and mimosas is the greatest thing ever. Although the bloody upgrade comes with bacon and is worth it. We had cousins in town, the 4.5 year old in tow, knew it would be sunny and in the 70s, so... brunch, outdoor space, proximity to 9th Street... punch in the coordinates... boop boop boop...Yelp survey says... Prospect! Not the usual thing along 5th Avenue in the South Slope, but in this case, just what the doctor ordered. We got there at 11:30 on a Sunday, there were tables available in the back, including several in the shade (bonus), so our child could carry on if need be (he didn't), and we could show our out of town guests how we do things in the BK. No disappointments here, save for the coffee, which was weak. My bacon and cheddar omelette was light, fluffy, not excessively greasy, and paired with plenty of home fries and some sort of cress. Wife enjoyed her salad, which included black beans and chicken, and son had raves for the cashew cream on toast, a substitution the waitress was happy to make. All in all, great service and decent food in a sunny spot, impressed relatives, happy kid. Can't ask for much more than that. read more

The space is pretty new and has a lot of beers on tap and the selection is pretty well selected-Old Speckled Hen, don't see that too much. I ordered the Shepherd's pie and I thought it was okay. We stopped in for brunch last Sunday at Prospect Bar and Grill and were very very happy. I have a nice long review here, but it all comes to this, the food was great, the service and staff were amazing and they have an amazing wine selection. After a hard workout on a Sunday, nothing is better than a good brunch with friends. We originally selected Prospect Bar & Grill because it was close to our gym. Otherwise, we had never been here before. However, now that I know the quality of this establishment I will definitely be back. We ordered a number of items for brunch, though I had the Breakfast Burrito which was fantastic. Great ingredients and not too heavy. I was satisfied without being overly full. Additionally, the home fried potatoes and watercress salad that come with it add a lot of nice variety. Throw in the excellent wine selection and you've got a keeper. I'm a big Primitivo fan, which is a hard wine to find, however they have it and its great. Finally the service. There was a minor mixup in the kitchen, which caused a slight delay. However, the staff sorted the issue quickly and made sure we were happy, served and taken care of. This kind of great attention to detail and fantastic service always makes me coming back for more and this is the main reason I wanted to write a review. Prospect Bar & Grill is the ideal low key flexible neighborhood bar. It boasts a fairly unencumbered space that provides plenty of standing room for larger groups while still having just the right amount of seating. The staff is friendly and they aim to please. If you come during the day the brunch is pretty decent and at night there's various bar dishes to keep your stomach filled while you drink the night away. Dark woods, muted lighting and simple decor keep the place cozy at night. The people that come here run the gamut and range from what appear to be neighborhood regulars to the out of town visitor to the "just happened to walk by" folks. I think they just started keeping their kitchen open later which is great for late night eaters like me. This place is massive and versatile, the sort of bar where you can bring your own party or drink alone and anonymously in a sea of people because poor hygiene and humor has left you with no friends or social skills to speak of. I prefer the former, but alas, sometimes we don't get to choose. Although crowded on weekend evenings, I've never had trouble finding a table for a group, either up front or in the large patio out back. Friendly bartenders, strong pours, an excellent beer selection and a diverse menu should satisfy the varied needs of almost any party. Popped in unexpectedly when I had time to kill and got some hunger pangs. Pleasantly suprised. The Bartender was busy but great. She really walks the line of hustling but still catering to customers needs. She pours a great Guinness too, which is way harder than it sounds! I had the burger on the brunch menu w/ sautéed mushrooms and onions...it was spectacular and flavorful. I just wish it came with fries instead of "home fries" , which were really just roasted & over seasoned potato wedges. Huge restaurant with a nice, warm space. Went here for brunch with some friends. The menu isn't particularly inspired, but it has your typical brunch fare and they do a good job with it. I had the eggs Benedict with smoked salmon. It was very good and I especially liked that it came not only with the standard home fries, but also a fruit salad which did a nice job of cutting through the richness of the dish. Service was very prompt, up until we finished and needed the bill, the staff vanished on us. For being a brunch place in Park Slope, they aren't very busy, which is a nice change from having long waits at some of the other places. Would come back again for dinner. read more

It's so new that the wood stain smell is still a bit overwhelming. There's not a ciggy butt on the back patio, or a single line of graffiti (or anything) in the bathroom. Nobody seemingly knows it's open. Not yet. That's gonna change. They've got about 20 craft beers listed on one wall, and another 20 whiskey/bourbon specials being promoted, plus a regular full bar. The tender was Irish, and she was indeed tenderly charming. It's a surprisingly big space with a huge bar up front, a big back patio, and some decent space inbetween. The decor is restored farmhouse casual though modern and simple/sleek. The spaciousness of these areas, coupled with the huge picnic-style tables both indoor and out should invite a festive crowd. I was told they'd have food in about a month, until then you can order in from neighboring joints. I didn't see any TVs, pinball machines, video games, etc. - which in a way is nice. Watch the game down the street. If they can cultivate next steps: crowds, happy hours, grub, etc. I think this place has the bones to be a great place (and get another star). In the meantime, stop in, have a drink, and cheer their first steps. read more

Although the food never disappoints, and their spicy jalapeño margarita is one of the best I've ever had, the main reason my fiancé and I keep coming back is our favorite server Ricky! Just a few days ago, I threw my sister a surprise 30th birthday dinner for 35 guests, and Ricky went above and beyond our expectations and truly made it a special evening. This place is amazing. We were lucky enough to hear about their opening "free brunch" this Sunday and got there only 20 minutes after the kitchen officially opened! The owner kindly served us coffee and mimosas. Everything on the menu looked good, I had such a hard time choosing just one brunch item. I decided on the omelet with onions, tomato and cheddar cheese. I could have chosen blue cheese, provolone, or Swiss, but settled on cheddar. I could have also had mushrooms, but decided to skip it. When the omelet arrived, it was lovingly wrapping the fresh veggies and cheese on the inside (see photo recently uploaded). I was pleasantly surprised to find my onions had been caramelized! The potatoes were roasted to perfection, with rosemary and the kind of crunch I crave. Let me tell you, I am a ketchup-a-holic on eggs and potatoes and the sweet and salty flavor of the onions in the omelet was enough for me to only use one spoonful of ketchup! Couldn't believe it... All our friends had a delicious breakfast and loved every bite (see photos). One of us even tried their beer on tap and we all left with smiles. This place is a Sunday brunch MUST! read more

I've been to this bar on three separate occasions and I have always had a really nice and pleasant time. The first time I just came into to get some drinks with my roommate and a friend that was visiting town. They have really great Crispin Cider on tap so that's already great! The second time I was here was a couple of weeks ago during the Superbowl. John was our bartender. He was hilarious, super friendly AND we got free chili. It was delicious. And just today my roommate and I decided to check out the brunch. It was really delicious, the food was pretty fresh and you get so much food for $14 (dish that includes salad/potatoes or fruit with coffe or tea AND a mimosa or bloody mary). I mean come on! I was here last weekend for a friend's graduation brunch. The picnic tables near the back are great for large groups, but that area was much louder than I expected. It's too bad the weather was horrible, or we would have been able to sit outdoors. Memo to self: come back on a sunny day. $14 for a brunch entree, 1 mimosa/bloody mary, 1 coffee/tea. That may be the best brunch deal I've come across in NYC. The mimosa was a good one, not watered down. Even though coffee/tea is included, you have to ask specifically for it. My husband was very happy with his extra cheesy omelette. They made me a vegetarian version of the Eggs Prospect, with sliced avocado instead of the smoked salmon. The eggs were poached perfectly, with wonderful creamy yolks. To be honest, I wasn't expecting that from a bar. The home fries were well seasoned and had a little kick. A lot of food for $14.
