L'wren is a tru hidden gem. The decor is right up anyone's alley if you're looking for a happy hour, a night out with friends in the back lounge, or date night. Happy hour every day until 7 pm - with multiple drink and food items priced at $8. the decor is dark and sexy, full of velvets and nice artwork. id come back for the secret lounge in the back. the bathroom is clean and nicely decorated too. When we got here, I guess everyone else had the same idea because it filled up. the service slowed down after we placed our order, but there was only 1 server working the bar. the $8 happy hour espresso martini hit the SPOT and was refreshing too. they have a few craft beer choices on menu too. The Gambas is a must get. i think i counted 6 plump perfectly seasoned grilled shimp on a bed of sauce and toasted crustini. Grab the mac n cheese bites! my date loved them (they can come with sausage or without). i sampled the mac sauce on top and thought it was pretty good. the 5 wings on happy hour were messy, but delicious. i tasted the honey but not the chipotle. it might need a hint of more heat if they wanna call it chpotle. would come back in a heartbeat. read more

A cute spot for date night or just a girls night out. They have happy hour from 4-7pm for $8 with a few classic drinks and appetizers. My husband and I stopped by and ordered some drinks and food. We tried the espresso martini, moscow mule and paloma. The drinks were ok but somehow tasted a tad water down? Not sure if that's because it was happy hour. As for food, we tried the honey chipotle wings, the cauliflower bites and the fried chicken sandwich with tots from their regular menu. The wings (4) were pretty big in size but the sauce is a bit overwhelming. The cauliflower bites were disappointing. It was just pieces of cauliflower drowned in sauce. I wish I picked something else. The chicken sandwich was pretty good and the tots were good. The service was a bit slow on Friday night but it was just the bartender pulling double duty as server so I felt bad for the poor guy. It was fine overall and we enjoyed our time there. read more

We also got some bites. The food here was solid!! Chips and guac, Mac and cheese bites, bourbon bbq sliders, and the double trouble sliders were great. The only complaint was that the tables are a bit on the small side so needed to do a lot of rearranging. One of my sliders fell on the floor because of rearranging. The establishment is a decent cocktail lounge size (on the more smaller intimate side) and they have a back space for private events. The decor and aura of L'Wren is very nice. It's like a trendy but chill spot, at least on a weekday. I'm sure it becomes lively on weekends. They played perfect music that was not too loud so I was able to hold a convo easy with my friend. The worker that was there that day was very nice and continuously checked on us to make sure we were ok. We ordered: Crispy Korean Wings Tingas Tostadas Salmon The food was tasty. For drinks we ordered: Sangria and a mezcal pomegranate cocktail. The mezcal drink was absolute amazing! Also, it's definitely a cool after work spot to stop by after a busy day. I grew up in Sunset Park so I was excited to see that beside Judy's, a new cocktail bar had opened up. Passing by it a few times, I was too scared to enter, as it looked super chic and fancy. The prices, however, tell differently -- for a reasonable $12, you can get a house signature with Mezcal, Tequila, Gin...and others (I don't really drink anything else, sorry!). The place gives a nice chill lounge feel, especially in the back with the beautiful decor -- loveseats and 90s glam velvet singe seaters. The layout could also be conducive to an open-mic night. We came on a Friday night and were surprised to not see too many people in the back room, especially since the front was filled. The Korean wings and tater tots were also tasty, so if you need a small bite, rest assured that you'll be taken care of. The drinks could have been better -- for $12 I can't really complain about them being watered down or not as complex as I'd want. In any event, solid place that I'd definitely come back to when I'm in the area for dinner and don't want to trek out to popping areas like Park Slope or the city. read more

This is the second time I've come here and each time has been better than the next. Unlike the first time, I came early enough for happy hour, which I can't recommend highly enough. As soon as we walked in the place smelled absolutely HEAVENLY. The prices are also very good for the HH deal so make sure you take advantage. I'm so happy I walked in here... so I was randomly looking for a place to just sit alone and have a drink and stumbled on lwren. Nice ambiance very welcoming. I was alil apprehensive at first because I want sure what I walking into but I loved it. I was greeted by the bartender and waitress who were both amazing btw took a look at the menu and went for the Moscow mule. It was so good and refreshing. Sunset Park is turning more and more into a neighborhood I want to spend my Friday nights in. I could hardly imagine this to be the case just a few years ago, but my friends and I were spoiled for choice when looking for places to get cocktail within a ten block radius, so we bar hopped. We didn't know what to expect when we landed at L'Wren, but we were greeted with a hospitable staff who partied right along with us, a formidable list of delicious drinks, and a large dance room in the back. My drinks were expertly made, with Bush's Folly being a standout. The elderflower brought out the ginger notes and the the bourbon was extra smooth. From the looks of different menu photos just over the last few months it seems like they iterate on the cocktail ingredients often, which I take as a sign of intention in their kitchen. At $11 bucks a pop, these cocktails are a steal in Brooklyn. I honestly wouldn't even blink if they cost 50% more. Since we had a long night of revelry ahead of us, we chased our drinks with multiple rounds of tequila shots, and the owner took some with us and even comped us a few. The dance room in the back was extra spacious and they bring in different local DJs every weekend. Comped shots, spacious dance floors and $11 craft cocktails are a rarity in this city but I find that you're rewarded when you venture off the beaten path. read more

It was a long night of bar hopping around Brooklyn, and L'Wren just so happened to be one of our stops. A little bit hidden on a main street in Sunset Park, we initially walked right past it. Upon entering you're greeted with friendly faced bartenders ready to stir up a drink for you. I dabbled in a few cocktails - Bush's Folly (bourbon based) and Cielito Lindo (mezcal based) before switching to my go-to, Old Fashioneds. In between each cocktail, there was a round of tequila shots graciously comped by the owner who was happily taking them alongside us. At one point they even brought out popcorn, which we happily washed down with our delicious drinks. While we did not partake in any dancing here, there is a large dance floor in the back with rotating DJ's every weekend. If I lived in Brooklyn, L'Wren would easily be part of my stomping grounds rotation. read more

We used to love this place (see the past review), patronized during COVID, and donated -- only to be treated like garbage when Travis got a new server. One evening, she chased us across the street as we picked up our food order and insinuated theft. She stood IN THE CHINESE TAKE OUT SPOT to escort us back to L'wren. We would've stayed for more drinks had she not been so hostile and accusatory. She slammed the bill on our table and scolded "no outside food allowed". Travis has failed at his transition plan. If you introduce a new food menu and ban outside food, you need to communicate that to your longstanding customers, not cower behind an underage looking server when we confront the hostility and ask WTF is up. There are several other complaints similar to mine, also hidden or in Google reviews. Train your servers better. read more

The fish was fresh with a crispy fried coating. Not greasy at all and flavors came through. The Mac and cheese bites were lovely and substantial. First of all, let me start off by saying that this establishment was so catering to our family situation. We called ahead of time and told them that we were coming. They made sure we had a place comfortable for all eight of us. My 80 year old mother and my five children who are all adults were completely impressed with the waitress and how she took care of us. She was the only one working on Monday evening and she made sure she got all of our drinks correct as well as our food. Now I'm living in sunset park and the area is super different. I gotta explore to park slope or downtown bk to get in my zone. Despite the place being flooded with clientele. My boyfriend just said "Now that's service!" Let me not even start on the drinks. They were impeccably made. I had not been here before and really enjoyed my first time here. The place is very quaint, cool and super random and unexpected for how hip it is to be in the middle of Sunset Park on fourth Avenue! That being said the staff was very friendly including the post to ask for your vaccine card and the bartender who I believe is the owner. Unfortunately the bartender looked like he was on his own and looked like he was pretty stressed out! He misheard my order but then was very willing to make it up by giving me a free drink which I thought was very generous and kind and a good sense of hospitality. I wound up not having time for the second drink :( but really enjoyed the Brooklyn gin lemonade that I had. I also had some of The snacks including the watermelon salad (around $11) which I really enjoyed and the pulled pork sandwiches which were delicious and satisfying and the perfect size and portion for the price at $11. So for one drink and two snacks with tax and tip it wound up being $40 for me for one person. I feel pretty good about it because the service was super friendly and it was a high-end cocktail that I got an up charge of only one dollar because I chose Hendricks. That is a pretty small up charge so I felt pretty good about it. So overall I definitely plan to be back here and I'm really excited to have a cool place in this part of the neighborhood. read more
