Ice House is a neighborhood dive bar with cheap drinks and a competent kitchen. Pulled pork sandwiches are popular at $4 each or two for $7. I also recommend the Frito Pie, chili cheese fries, or even the caesar salad. I've been coming for a couple of years, not often enough to be considered a regular, but many regulars do exist and they know how to ask for what they want. It can be pretty hectic at peak hours so make your server interactions cordial and precise; if they want to gab, they'll let you know. The backyard is a fun scene on warm evenings or for weekend brunch. I was back there on a windy day last Fall and the shade umbrellas were blowing all over the place. The poor bartender was very exasperated and I tried to help wrangle the furniture. Glad they've bounced back from those difficult times. This is a classic bar, no frills, though you can obtain a slice of Steve's authentic key lime pie for dessert. Came here after hanging out in the area for a few hours for some drinks. The inside is real divey and can get full pretty quick as it isn't all that big. What makes this an even bigger draw is the back yard area which has several tables and chairs so chilling here with drinks and bar grub was great. Unfortunately this makes it limited to the warmer months of the year. The drink selection was pretty decent best I can tell. I had some beers and a few of a cider that I'd never seen before so that was cool and the staff were pretty cool despite how busy it became as the evening crowd rolled in. I didnt have any of the food but some of the choices sounded pretty good. If I find myself outbthis way again maybe I'll try something. Again the best part is the backyard area, so if you're coming through, make it a warm night. read more

I wish this place was in Manhattan! I'd frequent every week. After an afternoon on Gov Island, my friend and I were going to stop by Hometown BBQ. They were sold out of everything we wanted so we relocated to this spot, and I'm so glad we did! There's tons of places to sit and the bar has a warm inviting vibe. We got a spacious table in the garden out back. We reviewed the menu and once decided, went inside to place our order at the bar. My friend and I got the pork sliders, two burgers (bonus points for free jalapeños!), onion rings, sweet potato fries and a few draft beers. The burgers were nicely charred, onion rings were beer battered and the pulled pork sliders were perfectly sauced and savory on pillowy buns. Service was prompt and friendly. The bartenders were super nice and the regulars at the bar were fun and talkative. The demographic was varied, from young 20s celebrating a birthday to young parents with their toddlers to middle aged men. My friend and I slowly ate and got another round of beers. The environment was awesome, the food was solid and the prices were so reasonable. If I'm ever back in Red Hook, I'll be sure to return! read more

This place looks pretty rockin' and there's ample seating. It's perfect for cheap, quick eats and drinks while you're in Red Hook. They don't take cards and that is not obvious, so keep that in mind. We came with a large group and it was somewhat of a headache to figure out the bill. I got the chili and it was pretty decent. It reminded me of ski resort chili: not great, but not bad either. The cheese was some kinda nacho cheese (but it worked) and the jalapeños were the perfect addition. The other people with me got burgers and pulled pork sandwiches. They had rave reviews about both. Took a look at pictures and what kind of food they had and definitely wanted to give it a try. As soon as we got there I had to check the place out, it was very divey, a nice place to have drinks and have food with friends. As I saw the menu I knew I wanted to get their chicken sliders. I was with my coworkers and they also were ecstatic to try it out. All together we got, pulled pork sliders, chili cheese fries, their jerk chicken, sweet potato fries. Quite a lot of food but man, it was delicious! Of course we got our own beer selection which was Amazing!! Simply fantastic bar in every way. Our bartender Kimmy was friendly & super efficient even though she was serving the whole place by herself. The other customers were also friendly - it's a very welcoming neighborhood vibe. The Frito pie was interesting but the onion rings are probably the best I've had anywhere in a long time. The Chipotle dipping sauce they came with was perfect. I didn't order the steak special but it was huge & looked great with a big amount of mashed potatoes on the side. Next time we'll have to check out the burgers which also looked great. They have a great beer selection and I really appreciated the $6 beer and shot deal because it's becoming harder to find post covid. We will deffffffinitely be back. read more

I'll just add that that woman who was working the day I ate there last week was a model of poise, warmth, courtesy, and professionalism. I wish I'd gotten her name. It's even more noteworthy that she was as on top of everything as she was ...given that she was host, screening nurse, server, bartender, busser, and cashier all in one! Don't let the front of this place cloud your judgement. Brooklyn Ice House is a super divey bar with an awesome backyard. This place is very Brooklyn -- with lights and plants all over the place. We ordered pulled pork sandwiches, bacon hot dogs, fries, and lots of burgers. The prices are cheap - two pulled pork sandwiches are $7, and they're not slider-sized. The burgers were $11. All side dishes were about $5. All in all, it's a great place to drink and eat for cheap with decent ambiance. The food isn't going to be great quality - the burgers will be very overdone and the pulled pork is fine, but for the price it's great. read more
