I celebrated my son's bday dinner last night. I was running a little behind due to traffic. I called to let them know. A really nice lady answered and was so sweet. When we walked in, we got the warmest welcome from her. Her name is Debbie. I have a 10yrs old also and she immediately started having a conversation with her. When she sat us in the dinning room, she let us know there were 2 servers for the night with a 1 bus boy. She mentioned them by name and I loved that. We were attended to by Keith. He was such a gem. He recommended so really great choices for us. This is what we had. For drinks, my husband and my son had the Red Hook which they loved. I don't drink so I had the Captain Jack Mocktail. Appetizers- Seafood Tower and Rhode Island Calamari. OMG the calamari is a must try. It has a little kick but you will thank me later. I little heat never hurt nobody. Dinner- we all shared the Gala Apple Salad, Porter House, Linguini and Clams, Lundy's Potatoes, and Mac and Cheese. Dessert- The Butterscotch Sundae my daughter hogged, and the Lundy's Huckleberry Pie. Now let me tell you. I do not eat huckleberry pie, but that one, I could not believe how tasty. The crust was hard and sweet and the filling had the right flavor. Not too sweet or tart. All throughout dinner my husband and my son kept saying how great the food was. It was truly amazing and the service was great, with only 3 working and staying attentive to several tables. I would definitely come back. Maybe for a girls night next time. read more

The space is so amazing it feels like someone crossed a historic landmark with a movie set and said, "Yeah, make it bigger." The bar? HUGE. A beautiful behemoth. It's the kind of bar you walk up to and instantly feel like you should order something classy just because the bar itself demands respect. You don't sip here--you pose. Live music had the whole place vibing like it was Brooklyn's own little Mardi Gras. Menu? Straight-up banger after banger. I kept reading items like I was scanning a treasure map. Drinks? Too good. Dangerous-good. "I should slow down but I won't" good. Now the oysters... Listen. Freshest in the five boroughs. FRESHEST. Like they practically filled out a change-of-address form from the ocean to your plate. But the true heavyweight champion of this place? Chef Steve Mannino. A culinary force. A flavor wizard. A gastronomic gladiator. The man cooks like he's trying to win a title belt every night. If Brooklyn had a Mount Rushmore of chefs, he'd already be carved in granite, smiling with a shucker in his hand. I Love, love, LOVED Lundy Bros!! A sweet little spot with open space, yet cozy and comfortable. I Was working at a nearby hospital and staying at a hotel in the area and took a quick look at some Yelp reviews and menus of nearby places to eat and was drawn to Lundy's menu. It was unusually slow secondary to the crazy stormy weather so felt like I had the entire place to myself. I couldn't decide between two entrees I was learning towards and the chef just happened to be in ear-shot distance and mentioned he could do a half portion of both for me if I wanted. Amazing! Of course I couldn't resist taking him up on that. Each dish was phenomenal. The baked clams were delicious, the clams and linguini were bursting full of flavor and the bolognese was delicious as well. I ate well beyond more than I should have, but was not only enjoying the meal, I was also enjoying the conversation. Literally everyone in the restaurant was fantastic, super friendly and extremely attentive, they went above and beyond. I will absolutely be back and will bring my colleagues. Had dinner here last night to celebrate my wife's birthday. The staff are very friendly, service was excellent as well as the food... Good size portions. I loved the doo-wop and Motown music playing. Heard about Lundy on Instagram. Went for dinner with a friend. From the outside the restaurant does not look appealing. When we walked in the front area was kind of bland and cold, was afraid I was in the wrong place. Not to mention it was empty. Then they walked us to the back, the dining room. The decor was cozy old school classy. The service was ok. I could have done without the biscuits, dry. The calamari (Rhode Island) was tasty. For entrees we ordered the Pork Milanese and the Burger. The Pork Milanese was a good chose it came with a delicious zesty sauce that gave it a nice kick. The burger also came with a tasty special sauce. The food was good, can't say the same for the drinks. We had expresso martinis and a cosmo, not the best. Would return for the food but not the drinks. read more

Fell in love with this place in redwood. Walling inside you felt like it gave a little old school NY vibe with beautiful decor. They had live music when we went , it is a beautiful family that owns and runs the place and perform in the live band .They are talented to say the least. The drinks were on point and the food was just so good . Went to Lundy's the other day to check it out since we heard good things recently. Very nostalgic vibe in a very cool spot! Had to try the clams and biscuits since those are some of the items the original spot was known for and they did not disappoint.... large juicy, sweet clams and very large flakey biscuits which I believe are scratch-made from the original Lundy's recipe! Next we moved to the seafood tower and porterhouse steak. Again, incredibly fresh seafood presented with classic understated detail. The porterhouse rivaled that of the famous NY steakhouses I have been lucky enough to visit, buttery and perfectly executed. We finished with the famous huckleberry pie, which was a treat, considering how rare these berries are found on menus due to growing season! Try the clam chowder soup. It is the genuine Lundy's recipe. The seafood is fresh. The lobster is sweet. The french fries are not frozen. The biscuits served first are wonderful and another recipe from the original Lundy's. Last night was our second trip and much like the first, the food is amazing. First time out, we had a lobster special and chicken dinner with shrimp cocktail to start. This time around, we went crab cakes, calamari and baked clams to start and porterhouse for two with creamed spinach. The food is excellent and staff attentive. My biggest issue is the space/ambiance. The space feels a bit dated. Almost like you are eating in someone's basement. The slipcovers on the chairs further complicates the experience. I love a good fire place but the odor is so overpowering. The second time we went the fireplace wasn't on and still the odor permeates the space. You cannot escape it. I wish maybe they could burn a wood with less intense odor. We love the food so I guess we will deal with the decor and odor. read more

The experience, the food and the service were well worth the $$$. Steak, with a cocktail & dessert for three people came to $100/person. The med rare porterhouse (billed as for two- but more than enough for all three) was perfectly seared & served on a sizzling plate. As good as any of the top steak houses. The heirloom tomato salad consisted of two generous slices of fresh mozzarella and thick slices of heirloom tomato decorated with pesto and balsamic glaze. The Brussel sprouts with maple bacon were "best ever". Mashed potatoes- creamy and buttery- worth ignoring the diet. Cauliflower was a perfect vegetable of the day. Huckleberry pie with a single scoop of vanilla ice cream could only have been improved with a second scoop! Our waitress, Priya, was extraordinary. The ambiance is comfortable- dark wood trim and cream colored walls in a formal dining room- the bar area is an updated homage to the days of expansive use of mahogany with small stage for a band. Chris, the manager, introduced himself as we were leaving to make sure we had enjoyed ourselves. We tried the restaurant because we were two miles away at Lowe's & searched Open Table & Yelp. If we were driving by - maybe coming from the nearby Ikea- we would look & say "surviving neighborhood joint". Lundy's is a real gem. Don't hesitate!! read more

Like remaking a classic film, there's always a risk when you attempt to reboot an iconic restaurant. I grew up in Sheepshead Bay, and visits to Lundy's were frequent. The cavernous space could feed 2000 people at a sitting, and the biscuits, bisque, shore dinners and huckleberry pie were legendary. Lundy Bros is a "blue cheese olive" restaurant, as I like them in my Chopin on the rocks and use it a a descriptor of the quality of the restaurant. The seafood tower to start was excellent, brimming with fresh, meaty oysters, shrimp and lobster. The biscuits were spot on, as was the bisque, my perfectly cooked salmon, and the huckleberry pie. I disagree that the space "looks dated". I think it looks classy in a charming, nostalgic way. But, the big question: Was Lundy Bros as good as the original Lundy's? No. It was better. read more

A bonus is the bar area, an elegant room that features live jazz with the Willie Martinez Trio on Monday nights in April, and an accomplished bartender in Brian. Owners Sandra and Mark have made Lundy's a compelling reason on its own to visit Red Hook. I never leave reviews, but the entire experience was so great here (especially the food) that I can't not a leave one. Although we weren't sure how kid-friendly it would be, we came here on a Saturday with my two kids. Very welcoming for kids (crayons and kids' menu), and the steal of a kid's meal was absolutely delicious. The pasta of the day was a veal ragù with fresh pappardelle pasta rolled in-house, deep flavors, and LOADED with fork-tender meat. The fish of the day was a perfectly cooked trout, and all of the seafood is brought in locally from across the bay in Belford and Highlands NJ or Brooklyn. We also had the cauliflower, pork milanese, Brussels sprouts (seasonal vegetable), spinach, and maple black pepper bacon. We really all said "WOW" after tasting each dish! The huckleberry pie was my favorite of the desserts. The service was perfect even with a full house. Super warm, comfortable, and happy atmosphere - perfect for a date or any kind of gathering.
