We had mussels st other location but they weren't here. I also had a non-fried cod at other location. But the food is delicious. The harvest salad is my favorite. Came here on a Friday after work with some friends. Wasn't crowded, which I prefer. All seats are stools unless you want to sit outside. The drink selection was great, especially for my picky beer drinking people. My old fashioned was made perfectly. The food was amazing. The fried chicken sandwich was fried to a beautiful crisp. My Reuben was so good but very filling. Almost didn't finish it! The steak tacos were tasty. And DEFINITELY get some key lime pie at the end. They have the personal tart size and served with whipped cream. Ate it way too fast. I'll be back to explore more of the menu! The service was incredibly attentive. You get a pretty cool view of the brewery, too. Now it is Red Hook so if you're not driving it's a little tricky to get to, but really worth the trip. Was waiting in line at Hometown BBQ, but that line was moving about the pace of a handicapped snail, so we were like screw it let's get some beers. We were served pretty quickly so before you know it I'd tried like 3 different beers (first one was the Golden - great lager) and was feeling pretty tipsy. This small brewery hosts a vast amount of beers on tap. They are served cold and the beer flights we tried were refreshing and tasteful. The actual venue was a bit dingy and dirty. Our server reeked of cigarettes which was displeasing. The bathrooms were unkept and we had arrived right at the opening of the day. One bright spot were the stools we sat on, which had backs to them which we all appreciated. Near the back of the restaurant was a beer wall (see picture) which was very cool, though hard to fully appreciate it as it's tucked too close to the bathrooms. Usually hits the spot! Pretzel is a must, but doesn't travel well (ex) leftovers or delivery or take out) I always like the grilled cheese and soup when it's an option. The fried chicken sandwich is really good. Burgers are fine, but not always cooked at requested temp ex) ask for med rare, get med well or well. Not sure what happened to old bay wings, but those were good too. Oh and I love their chicken tenders. They seem homemade, not your typical frozen ones! I've been to Keg & Lantern a handful of times, lured in by the daily specials, rotating deals that pair a pint of beer with a food item. Taco Tuesday ($15), Wing Wednesday ($12), Burger Thursday ($15), Fish & Chips/Surf & Turf Friday ($19). Save a few bucks, win big. The beers are all delicious, competent, nothing super experimental but brewed with skill. They typically have a couple guest taps, as well as some cider selections. If that's not your vibe, there's a full bar just waiting to satisfy. As for the food: wings are definitely my favorite thing here. They fry the wings nice and crispy, and I've enjoyed both the dry rubs and the wet sauces. On the other hand, the calamari is not great, mostly just fried breading. You're better off getting the poutine tots or a side of fries. Last night I sampled the burger and found it to be quite tasty. The slice of cheddar was just starting to melt, fusing wonderfully with the beef and the bun in each bite. I was impressed by the size; big, but won't make you feel overstuffed. Knocking back a pint or two while sitting at the bar is enjoyable, and the food meets my standards for bar grub. Had gone to their other location in Greenpoint where the food was better than expected. After stumbling upon this second location, figured it'd be a good place for some brews and snacks. Considering the neighborhood, this spot is definitely way more low-key, albeit without the outdoor seating. Decided to get the "Beyond the Haze" IPA ($8) as well as splitting the Nachos ($15). The beer is good - a hazy, hoppy standard ale. Nachos are a nice tower of colorful chips, jalapenos, sour cream, guac, and queso. Ingredients held up well and paired overall well with the beer. Four stars up to five because of the excellent service. Definitely a group effort as well being overall friendly. The place itself is also very clean/modern without being crowded on a Saturday afternoon. read more

This taproom has been open for a year now, though they have been brewing here for four, and open in Greenpoint for 12. So they know what they're doing. The beer selection covers the bases of variety from IPAs to pilsners to sours. I have really enjoyed the Jazz Chickens - a funky fruited pale sour which will make your lips pucker. I've only eaten wings and tots here, so far - both of which were done well but were nothing exceptional. Wednesday is wing night so you can get a draft beer and six wings for $12. Whatta deal! The wings are crispy and there's a good selection of sauces/dry rubs. The tots were fine but the cheese sauce was pretty velveeta-y and too thin to properly dunk. This brewery was bustling when I came, and the vibe was very relaxed. The place has inside and outside starting areas, a full bar, food, and local brews. The server was offended when I started with cider rather than beer and not in a friendly manner; my husband commented on it cause it showed on his face. He said this was the only one not made here, which was the best I tried from the "beer" menu. My husband got a pilsner, but the taste was so water down that he changed it. The other pilsner was better but watered down, so the flavor does not stand up as it should. The same happened with my THOUGHT CRIMINAL IPA. I think it is how they brew beers, which is not for everyone. The food was good; we got very lovely steak tacos, and the wings were moist and tasty, although not spicy at all. I don't think I will return; Brooklyn has many breweries to offer better beer. But overall, it was nice to check it out. read more

Really great find here on yelp! I was surprised this place doesn't have more reviews because it is awesome, easily one of our new favorite spots. The beers selection is great with a decent number of lager / pilsner / non ipa options like a Maibock and helles lagers as well (but they have a lot of ipa beers too). The food was great, we had the shrimp and fish tacos, both were awesome (the fish tacos are huge) and we got chicken fingers and truffle fries for the kids, they loved it. The indoor seating is a bit loud and the outdoor seating is a bit limited, so might have to wait a bit but usually something opens up in 10-15 minutes. read more

Stopped in Keg & Lantern Brewing on Saturday afternoon. A solid brewery that also has a full bar and a pretty significant and tasty food menu. Quality: We had previously visited the Greenpoint location of Keg & Lantern, so while in Red Hook decided to check out this newer outpost. They definitely kept the more pub feel, including a full bar and extended food menu, but this location feels more beer forward than the other. During our visit I tried four beers on the menu: Confirmation IPA, Gold Dust IPA, NZ HZ IPA, and Jazz Chickens W/ Blackberry. It is definitely a beer list heavy on IPAs, but don't mess what works. I was not super excited about Jazz Chickens W/ Blackberry, despite the funky name. The fruited sour was just a bit too extreme for me, but if you are ready to pucker up it may work for you. In terms of food the winner was definitely the Poutine Tater Tots. Hard to go wrong with tater tots, especially when covered in cheese curds, mozzarella, bacon, and a lighter gravy sauce. The Jumbo Salted Soft Pretzel was great, but I felt the beer cheese was a bit too much in the middle of mustard and cheese and needed a direction. The Buttermilk Fried Chicken Fingers were small and simple, but good. Quantity: Beer pour sizes are listed on the menu. All the food we ordered was huge and perfect for sharing. Value: $7-$8 for a Draft Beer. $12 for the Poutine Tater Tots. $11 for the Buttermilk Fried Chicken Fingers. $13 for the Jumbo Salted Soft Pretzel. Ambiance: Keg & Lantern Brewing is located in the Red Hook area of Brooklyn. They are on a quiet street that is about a block away from the other nearby bars and restaurants. Currently they have a pretty large covered outdoor seating structure, which is handy on rainy days. The inside space is a good size, but without using the actual bar seating would fill up quickly. They have several televisions positioned around the space and big glass windows showing the brewery equipment. Crowd: On a rainy Saturday afternoon there was only a small crowd, but I could imagine it very busy as the weather gets nicer or when a game is on. Service: Friendly waitress and extremely efficient service. The food was out incredibly fast and I appreciate the willingness to provide samples of beer. Parking: Not hard to find street parking nearby. read more

The food was decent (although I felt like the fries were overdone) and my mule was really good. The kitchen was really slow with our order. This is hands down my favorite spot to have a few beers & eat some good food (hello pretzels and bbq vegan sliders!). It may get busy on Saturday's but you could never tell because Marta and Chad are so prompt with their service (my glass was never empty). Get here before everyone starts going out and finds out about how amazing this place is. Went around 6:30pm on a Friday night. Couldn't get seated outside right away but plenty of room inside and it is warehouse type building so it felt plenty open and airy. This was our first time eating indoors since the pandemic and we had no uneasiness throughout dinner. Darlene was amazing. She answered all of our questions and was really kind. When we arrived she was the only one serving all of the tables, but we never had to wait any time we needed anything and the food came out faster than we had expected with the number of people there at the time. I really have no clue how she was handling everything but it was impressive. We sampled a bunch of items and zero complaints and that is hard when you bring a teenager along. The Mac and Cheese bites were a favorite, the fried chicken sandwich was the most tender pieces of chicken I have ever tasted, and the beer didn't disappoint. I can't wait to go back for Wings.
