    SMASH BURGER
    Hayward L.

Was waiting in line at Hometown BBQ, but that line was moving about the pace of a handicapped snail, so we were like screw it let's get some beers. We were served pretty quickly so before you know it I'd tried like 3 different beers (first one was the Golden - great lager) and was feeling pretty tipsy. Ended up ordering a smash burger too which was absolutely delightful and very juicy. Staff are pretty friendly and the outdoor seating is very pleasant.

This small brewery hosts a vast amount of beers on tap. They are served cold and the beer flights we tried were refreshing and tasteful. The actual venue was a bit dingy and dirty. Our server reeked of cigarettes which was displeasing. The bathrooms were unkept and we had arrived right at the opening of the day. One bright spot were the stools we sat on, which had backs to them which we all appreciated. Near the back of the restaurant was a beer wall (see picture) which was very cool, though hard to fully appreciate it as it's tucked too close to the bathrooms. The 3 stars represent the cleanliness of this establishment. The beers themselves would have gotten 4 stars.

Delightful evening at Keg & Lantern last week. Before Christmas so it wasn't very busy. Their beer is so unique and it was absolutely worthwhile to sit around and have a few rounds. Friendly beer staff and a great kitchen crew. Such an adorable ambiance. Would 5/5 be back. See you next time, Red Hook!

    Too much plastic!!

Nice place, good beer, food is ok. Suggestion: Please get rid of those dumb plastic containers for salad dressing. Nobody wants to eat plastic (or trash the planet with it). This is not needed. Just put the dressing on the plate or use a metal container, please.

My husband like this place, he love their beer. Also they have kitchen. Nice interior, if you like outdoor seating you can. Brewery have pretty service. I recommend!

Usually hits the spot! Pretzel is a must, but doesn't travel well (ex) leftovers or delivery or take out) I always like the grilled cheese and soup when it's an option. The fried chicken sandwich is really good. Burgers are fine, but not always cooked at requested temp ex) ask for med rare, get med well or well. Not sure what happened to old bay wings, but those were good too. Oh and I love their chicken tenders. They seem homemade, not your typical frozen ones! I like this spot- we go here pretty often.

I've been to Keg & Lantern a handful of times, lured in by the daily specials, rotating deals that pair a pint of beer with a food item. Taco Tuesday ($15), Wing Wednesday ($12), Burger Thursday ($15), Fish & Chips/Surf & Turf Friday ($19). Save a few bucks, win big. The beers are all delicious, competent, nothing super experimental but brewed with skill. They typically have a couple guest taps, as well as some cider selections. If that's not your vibe, there's a full bar just waiting to satisfy. As for the food: wings are definitely my favorite thing here. They fry the wings nice and crispy, and I've enjoyed both the dry rubs and the wet sauces. On the other hand, the calamari is not great, mostly just fried breading. You're better off getting the poutine tots or a side of fries. Last night I sampled the burger and found it to be quite tasty. The slice of cheddar was just starting to melt, fusing wonderfully with the beef and the bun in each bite. I was impressed by the size; big, but won't make you feel overstuffed. Knocking back a pint or two while sitting at the bar is enjoyable, and the food meets my standards for bar grub. This place is on the fancy side as far as Red Hook is concerned but you can get away with wearing a t-shirt as long as your shoes are on point.

Had gone to their other location in Greenpoint where the food was better than expected. After stumbling upon this second location, figured it'd be a good place for some brews and snacks. Considering the neighborhood, this spot is definitely way more low-key, albeit without the outdoor seating. Decided to get the "Beyond the Haze" IPA ($8) as well as splitting the Nachos ($15). The beer is good - a hazy, hoppy standard ale. Nachos are a nice tower of colorful chips, jalapenos, sour cream, guac, and queso. Ingredients held up well and paired overall well with the beer. Four stars up to five because of the excellent service. Definitely a group effort as well being overall friendly. The place itself is also very clean/modern without being crowded on a Saturday afternoon.

This taproom has been open for a year now, though they have been brewing here for four, and open in Greenpoint for 12. So they know what they're doing. The beer selection covers the bases of variety from IPAs to pilsners to sours. I have really enjoyed the Jazz Chickens - a funky fruited pale sour which will make your lips pucker. I've only eaten wings and tots here, so far - both of which were done well but were nothing exceptional. Wednesday is wing night so you can get a draft beer and six wings for $12. Whatta deal! The wings are crispy and there's a good selection of sauces/dry rubs. The tots were fine but the cheese sauce was pretty velveeta-y and too thin to properly dunk. They have other daily specials as well, I intend to return on Friday for Fish&Chips night (I saw a plate go to a table behind me and it looked and smelled great!)

    FRIED CHICKEN SANDWICH not recommended

The food takes more than an hour to come up and there is no apologies from the kitchen. The organization is extremely messed up and really unacceptable. Also the chicken sandwich is extremely dry. The burger was wrong too. We ordered medium rare and got medium well. This place used to be our favorite but it is OFFICIALLY OFF FROM OUR LIST FOREVER and I will NEVER recommend K&L redhook to anybody.

This brewery was bustling when I came, and the vibe was very relaxed. The place has inside and outside starting areas, a full bar, food, and local brews. The server was offended when I started with cider rather than beer and not in a friendly manner; my husband commented on it cause it showed on his face. He said this was the only one not made here, which was the best I tried from the "beer" menu. My husband got a pilsner, but the taste was so water down that he changed it. The other pilsner was better but watered down, so the flavor does not stand up as it should. The same happened with my THOUGHT CRIMINAL IPA. I think it is how they brew beers, which is not for everyone. The food was good; we got very lovely steak tacos, and the wings were moist and tasty, although not spicy at all. I don't think I will return; Brooklyn has many breweries to offer better beer. But overall, it was nice to check it out.

Perfect lunch spot on an Ikea day. Food was yummy (tho it did take a bit to arrive) service friendly and they had all the games on. IPAs were solid and Im an experienced traveler. Go before 1 so no wait.

This place has everything, attentive service, great beer, and great food. I find that sometimes the beer offerings at various breweries get a bit stale --- it's almost always the same stuff. Keg & Lantern is going to have all your favorite, but they just seem better executed. My go-to first beer is the Soprano. A great crisp Italian pilsner After that, it's off to the races with a high abv hazy ipa. The food here is also great. In particular, I love their fish and chips. After having it multiple times, it seems unbelievably consistent. It's always delicious. My wife loves the blackened fish. Finally, the service is great. They're attentive, always seem to swing by at the right time, and are super friendly. K&L seems to do everything all the other breweries do, but just a little bit better. For sure stop in here. Most of you are probably tired of me reviewing biergartens, ja?…read more This is going to be my last one for some time. Thankfully, what a good way to go out on. The food here is delicious. The prices are on the higher side, but I guess I am paying Williamsburg conveniences. This is terrific food outside of the Rhineland, and since that is where I am headed at the end of the year, at least I am going out on a high note. Phase I: The Pretzel As you may have guessed, getting a pretzel is a must for me for any biergarten or microbrewery. The pretzel is super soft and easy to eat. I asked afterwards if I could get a pretzel with no salt or if the pretzels here are pre-salted. I could have gotten it with no salt if I chose. That is probably the way to go, unless you want your mouth to taste like an ocean. Phase II: The Meat This time I found a happy medium, settling for three sausages. I got a Bratwurst, a Currywurst, and a Keisewurst, better known in Europe as the Käsekrainer. All three sausages are smoked beautifully and have amazing flavor. The Currywurst is something I had never had before, but after having it here, I am very excited to have it in Germany. The Käsekrainer is a sausage I know all too well. A pork sausage with cheese inside. This sausage checks all the boxes in terms of flavor, spice because of the jalapeño interior, and variance as it crosses American and European palettes. The Bratwurst is tried and true, albeit the safe choice, like getting a hamburger at McDonald's or Burger King. I also got a side order of fries which are massive, but also have great flavor. I could not finish these. The sausages also come with sauerkraut, something I am not a fan of, but the mustards I got plus a nice cider really took this over the top. Phase 3: The Strudel While disappointed that this restaurant does not offer a Black Forest Cake, a strudel with vanilla gelato is a nice alternative. This restaurant does it well. Perfectly cooked. A nice sweetness from the fruits and the gelato (combine the gelato with the strudel and the taste is heavenly), and you have a nice way to end your meal. -- The fact that it is not far from the L train helps in terms of convenience, but I chose the more challenging footing and walked 20 minutes to Marcy Ave on the J/M/Z to really burn off the calories. Or you could just go to the Williamsburg Bridge and walk across the whole thing to really get your post meal workout in. Either way, the food here is so good you will eat so much of it that you have to work off the calories. Danke.
