I had the half roast chicken, which was meh, and lacking the wing, so it was not really a half chicken. The wing happens to be my favorite part. Great neighbourhood bar with a solid menu full of delicious dishes, a happy hour menu from Mondays through Fridays from opening until 7pm. The atmosphere is quite chill and the place was packed on a Saturday night. We got the crispy cauliflower to share, which comes as a generous serving with both buffalo and blue cheese sauces for dipping. The crispy cauliflower is heavily battered and a bit on the unhealthy side, but can be a filling snack if you are looking for something to soak up your beer. We tried both the grilled skirt steak and the pan seared salmon and both were quite delicious and reasonably priced. The salmon in particular was the winner for me after tasting that lemon garlic herb sauce, which also went perfectly with mashed potatoes. The skirt steak comes with chimichurri sauce and you can opt for potato fries or sweet potato fries. The sweet potato fries were perfectly crispy and thick-cut, complementing the juicy and tender steak. They have several tap, bottle, and can beer options, a handful of wines to drink by the glass (or the bottle) and lots of specialty cocktails, making this bar perfect for your after work drinks and dinner spot. The menu at Westwood is pretty much identical to what it was at Ox Cart, its earlier incarnation, with daily specials added in. Giving four stars instead of five because some dishes can be a little uneven and because we were gaslit by the waiters the last time we ordered the skirt steak. Came here for the first time for Happy Hour drinks and eats after work this past Friday. This place is such a gem. It was so good that we spent 4 hours here just relaxing, talking, drinking and munching. Westwood is in a great location. A very happening and diverse neighborhood. Just a few blocks away from the Newkirk Plaza station where you can catch the B and the Q. The B 8 also stops right in front of the place. We had 3 in our party and they usually only seat you if everyone was present. We begged and said our other friend was just a few minutes away and our lovely host Chris sat us at the booth of our choosing. It was actually half booth/half table that was partially outside. It was a beautiful night so it was perfect! They have multiple tvs with sports playing. Happy Hour on Friday is until 7 so we got half of our drinks for only $8. I had the Bees Knees which is gin, lemon and honey. I usually like to mix up my drinks and get different ones throughout the night but this cocktail was so good that it was the only one I had for 4 hours. Service was so friendly and attentive. Although our first round of drinks took way too long to come out. We had the Westwood Nachos and Fried Calamari for snacks. Both were delicious. The calamari must have been from a giant squid because the rings were HUGE!! For dessert we had the Tiramisu which was yummy as well and a huge piece. I witnessed several people dining with their pets so it's dog friendly. Only one bathroom , but it was clean and tidy. Got such a good vibe from this place. Definitely very chill atmosphere. I was pleasantly surprised to see a retro style, cocktail bar open on the border of South Midwood & Flatbush, an area with plenty of residents who love a good drink but also an area lacking a robust, modern drinking scene. While the neighborhood isn't exactly known for its destination eats, the intentional and modern feel of Westwood gave me high hopes. The nachos were piled high with lots of toppings which I appreciated, and the baja shrimp quesadilla was sizeable and fresh. We stopped by for Sunday brunch, where we indulged in classic bottomless mimosas. While their flavored options aren't part of the bottomless options we did try a few (peach, palmagrante, and hibiscus) and they were all good! We had the burger and the huevos rancheros, which were super filling and delicious. We even got a free shoot each for checking in on Yelp. In addition to indoor seating, they have a patio out front on the sidewalk that is enclosed and attached to the front of the restaurant as well as street seating. I'll definitely be back! read more

I've come to Westwood a total of three times now and the customer service is always on point! The waiters are friendly and the place is super cozy and welcoming. I also love that they have a lot of outdoor seating because it's gonna make for a great summertime hangout! Last night I passed by with a friend and we had appetizers and drinks. My friend ordered the brussel sprouts and a glass of Sauvignon Blanc and I had the fried calamari with a glass of Little J (which was a banging South African red!). The calamari came with marinara sauce (which I know is customary), but I much prefer it with the chipotle mayo that they also have. I asked for two tiny sides of it since I got a big serving of calamari (which was a treat)! However, it wasn't until the bill came that I realized that they charge $2.00 extra for each little cup of mayo! I was thrown off by that because when I asked for it, our waiter didn't mention that it would be an additional $2.00, which would've been a nice heads up to have. On a normal day, I would have stuck to the marinara or asked for it to be substituted for the chipotle mayo. But under no circumstance would I have jumped at the opportunity to pay $4 for sides of chipotle mayo. That seemed a bit excessive. So some disclosure before added fees would be nice going forward, good folks @ Westwood. All in all, my experience was a great one. I know the demographics of the neighborhood might cater to lots of people who don't mind paying $2 per half an ounce of mayo, but my pockets ain't there yet nor will I ever be willing to do so because it just don't feel right. Does anyone remember when this place used to be a shoe store? Lol my how times have changed. I grew up in this area and I'm so happy to see this new addition. Outdoor seating available during Covid. The vibe is totally chill. The staff is so friendly and awesome.. no frills just great food. A bit of a Mexican blend... Please try the crispy cauliflower.. The bbq wings were great and so was the pizza. There were some great specials on the board as well. Which is why I need to return. The food was great and our waiter was super enthusiastic and catering. I had the Respect drink which didn't disappoint, the civiche and vegetable spring rolls. I ordered the spicy red sauce divorciados and my friend ordered the eggs and lamb hash. Brisket wasnt available. The food was fresh, perfectly seasoned, bloody mary was perfection. So I walked in with my two friends, into a little passageway, and through a blonde drape that led to the inside. Greeted with music, both conspicuous to be so a part of the atmosphere that it is unobtrusive and so almost nonexistent. The bartender called over to us as though we had seen each other once and up until now had not realized we had lost each other. Most of the seats were taken, but a gentleman at the bar moved over a seat to accommodate me and my two friends. So there we sat. I was with my back to the outside glass, and my attention briefly moved to the lovely person sitting alone at the edge of the bar and I was almost afraid to disturb her solitude. In front of me I could see the fireplace and, in front of it, people sitting together swaying with laughter and enjoyment-- and for some moments I couldn't make out their faces, and they were like pretty shadows a part of the decor. The food came, a NY strip steak and shrimp tacos. The steak came bedded upon caramelized shallots which also blanketed the top. The shrimp in the tacos were fried, and I'm afraid that if they were grilled they would have been too good for one to eat. It doesn't need to be said that the chefs are well versed; allow the food to show you. Sadly, there weren't yucca fries, but Ariel whipped my friend up a drink that tasted as though it were an enhanced tea. In it was contained candy ginger, lime, ginger beer, orgeat, cinnamon syrup and bourbon. And the Manhattan's here have a different taste to them, but pleasant. And I can't really figure out what it is. But I won't ask because, if I discover that nothing is different that separates it from the Manhattan's I've had for some past years now, I wouldn't want to ruin the allure that it is the best Manhattan I have had to date. I would only add that there is nothing that contributes more to the ethereal quality of a place than old soul, or blues music that was playing when I first entered.
