Note: this review is only for the daytime. Night time service is not included. When Ruth first opened, I looked inside. Since it was a cocktail bar, the food menu was sparse at the time. I put it in my back pocket as a place I might go in the future. I was recently walking in the area when I noticed a sign saying it was open for coffee. Of course I went to check it out. At the main counter, they serve the classics (mocha, latte, chai, matcha) plus a few specials. My cookie butter matcha (with oat and flavored syrup) was less than 6 dollars. It wasn't my favorite matcha, it was a pretty good deal in comparison to other cafes in the area. They have a coffee club where you pay $40 a month for free drinks (coffee or tea based), 10% of items like cocktails, food and wine. Plus you are able to use their wifi in their space which has a funky plush aesthetic. Definitely good for people who need a place to work. It is an interesting way of using this space in the morning. Of course I was told about their happy hour and the jazz Mondays. I would come back to attend that. read more

Wow - what a great little spot!!! Ruth is not on the beaten path for me, but I was heading down to King's Theatre for a concert and looking for a nice bar for pre-gaming. And, guess what? Ruth was just what the doctor ordered. So how would I describe Ruth? It's a cross between a speakeasy and a trendy neighborhood bar... and they serve up some tasty drinks and snacks!!! The interior is cozy with a number of arranged seating areas so parties of folks can gather together. The bar area has stool seating where you can watch the bartender make drinks... and there's even a separate back room area that looks like it could be rented out for private events. As for bartenders and staff, they are all awesome!!! Final thoughts = if you are nearby and ready for a nice drink, hit up Ruth. You'll be happy you did! read more

Ruth's is such a cool spot on Flatbush, honestly one of the more thoughtfully decorated places in the area. The minute you walk in, you can tell they really put effort into the vibe. It's stylish without being pretentious, and the space just feels good to hang out in. The drinks are really well made, balanced, interesting, and clearly crafted by bartenders who know what they're doing. The crowd is always chill, too. It has that neighborhood-but-still-trendy energy where you feel comfortable right away. They've got small bites if you want something to snack on, and there's a really fun back room that almost feels like a hidden little lounge. And I have to mention the bathroom because... it's definitely interestingly decorated. Unique in the best, quirkiest way. Overall, Ruth's is an easy favorite for a casual night out with friends, a date, or just grabbing a great drink in a beautifully put-together space. A real Flatbush gem. read more

Super hidden gem. If you're looking to catch up with friends in a comfy spot outside of your home with a cocktail, this place is it. I tend to keep it simple here and stick with mojitos. I didn't explore the menu like that yet. There's no food here at all. I love the decor here especially in the bathroom. There's couches all around so you can really chill here. I'm not too crazy about all the bartenders. I've been here a few times and the energy from one in particular wasn't the best so that's why I removed a star. read more

Our friends brought us here on a Saturday night as their new favorite cocktail bar. We were a bit worried that our party of four would have trouble finding a spot but there was plenty of seating indoors and out. We found this cozy spot by the fireplace with plush chairs, plants, and plenty of side tables. Music was chill enough to have conversation. Service was attentive. As soon as we walked in the door we were greeted and the whole bar felt welcoming. Our server kept checking in to see if we needed anything. Cocktails were varied and good. Ruth is definitely a hidden gem! Came here to celebrate a friend's birthday and was pleasantly surprised by the decor and drink menu. The outside of this establishment looks nothing like inside! The outside has a modest and minimalist sign. Inside has beautiful and sleek tufted furniture as well as a fireplace. The backroom room leads to a beautiful backyard with more seating. The birthday person reserved the backroom for her his guests. Our waiter was great! He was able to accommodate the whole party. I loved the creative drinks. While here, I tried the depêche mode. Satanic Night Jar!!! So much *flaming* fun!!! Luck Cat! Delicious. I loved the sesame umami kick. Service might be a little delayed because these are craft cocktails made to order, but the ambiance is pretty cool and soothes the wait. read more

We had Satanic nightjar , 2 pimp a butterfly , Moon mamacita , Redox / detox shots mezcal I mean where to do begin? Certainly fun names for the drinks! They were all very tasty , good taste. Decided to check this place out after seeing some pictures on Yelp. We arrived around 5:30PM-- so there weren't many people here. We took some seats in the back and relaxed. The staff was pretty cool and laid back-- we had a sleight mishap where a drink fell and the glass shattered. The staff graciously cleaned it up and actually brought me over a replacement. The place itself is perfect for a mellow weekend and cool bobbed. Not blaring music where you can't hear each other speak, but just good enough. Had THE best time at this romantic cocktail bar that's new to Flatbush! My friend was in town from the Bronx and we were trying to visit The Deia, but they were closed for a special event. Thank goodness for Google Maps' "Explore Nearby" feature, because what a treat we were in for!!! Ruth deserves all the hype! I low-key didn't want to write this review because I wanted to keep this gem as my little secret, lol. The place is very cozy! I regret not getting my bartender's name. She was so frickin kind and great at her job. She even complimented me saying "you look like Solange! Have you ever been told that before?!" That could be part of the magic she works at her job, but I gladly accepted it! She made amazing drinks and had infectious energy! My friend was looking for a drink that had Wray & Nephew rum as one of its ingredients, however, they didn't have that liquor. She then recommended a few other tropical, rum drink cocktails that were on their menu. Very helpful! I can't wait to be back with more friends! Thanks for the warm vibes! P.S. I've only been here once but I already love it here. Finally a cool lounge on my side of town. The bar/ lounge has nice plush chairs and couches, there is a bar area and also a backyard. Highly recommend it if you want to come with a friend, have a few drinks and actually be able to hear each other speak. Staff were very nice. There were also small bites on the menu but if you need an actual meal you should plan to eat before or after your visit. read more

Ruth is a hidden gem in the middle of Flatbush. The decor is A1. Everything from the lighting, seating, music and drink experience is dope. I don't recall any bold signage on the exterior, you might walk right passed it. It's set up like a speakeasy, upon walking in I remember baking supplies and instruments. Once you walk passed the second door is when the real decor hits you. It looks like something out of the Prohibiton Era or New Orleans setting. Definitely a sexy spot to catch some real cocktails. Service was prompts, there are bartenders and usually cocktail wait staff to assist you if you are seated at a table. They have some well blended cocktails, the mixologists do a good job. I came here on a Friday night and it was decently packed but there was still seating available. Unfortunately the backyard was closed for renovations so I'll have to check it out the next time! The bar itself has 2 big rooms with seating, gorgeous decor from velvet seats and lots of gold touches. The cocktails are great as well and average prices. They had chacuterie board options for food. I love this bar. It's a great neighborhood cocktail lounge with great drinks and ample room to spread out with friends. The drink lean tropical/citrusy, but there are drinks for every taste! They've been tinkering with the menu for a few months, but every drink we've had is a winner. The misty mountain gimli (amazing name) is a favorite, along with the Sugar Glider.
