Keep in mind I didn't try anything but their cold brew, and it was one of the smoothest coffees I've ever had. Their cold brew has dark and rich notes of chocolate and almond, which couldn't be more fitting for a pastry and bake shop. Whenever I'm in the neighborhood, I try and make a point to grab a cup here. And while I've only been here a couple of times, the staff has been polite, and the coffee has been consistent - the latter being an issue for many shops. Baked doesn't try to be too cool or anything other than what it is. It's an unpretentious bake shop that offers a perfectly chilled cold brew that deserves to be savored with each sip and doesn't break the bank. Stopped by Baked for some coffee and pastries while waiting for a table at Red Hook Tavern down the street. The cafe has a cozy vibe to it and they seem pretty in touch with the community. The staff seems pretty familiar with a lot of the patrons that come in so I guess people are pretty loyal to the spot. I ordered a chai latte and assorted baked goods to go with it. My girlfriend has a matcha latte. Service was quick and friendly. I enjoyed all of the baked goods we had but my favorite was definitely the Turkey & Pesto Croissant. There was a generous helping of pesto inside and the herbaceous, garlicky, earthy flavor paired really well with the turkey. The croissant was nice and flaky too without being overly messy. I came here on a whim looking for a dessert after getting pizza in Brooklyn. I came in and ordered a Brookster and a glass of milk. We were able to taste the sweet and salty chocolate cake for free as someone in the neighborhood was giving a few slices out. The cake was moist and chocolatey. I would never have guessed that the cake was caramel soaked because it wasn't awfully sweet. Similarly, I had no clue the ganache was also caramel chocolate. Overall, it was a phenomenal slice which made me look up the bakery. Based on their website, they specialize in cakes and brownies. They have about 30 different cake options ranging from citrus passionfruit cake to caramel apple cake. Too bad there are more horrific bad service reviews than I would like to trust to order a cake from here for a big day. We got some cupcakes because they looked pretty and the flavors sounded great but they all tasted horrible and were very hard that we each took one bite of each item then threw it out. We also got the pecan bar and a peanut butter Nutella one - both were not worth the price and my kids hated it. We also ended up throwing them out. This is a late post, as my experience with this bakery occurred in September 2025. Over the years, I have ordered cakes from this bakery several times and was always pleased with both the quality of the cakes and the kindness of the staff. Unfortunately, my most recent experience reflected a noticeable decline in customer service. I arrived early on a Saturday morning to pick up my prepaid order and was the second customer in the store. When I informed the hostess of my order, she initially could not locate it. After eventually finding it, she asked me for payment. I explained that the order had already been paid in full. She immediately insisted that it had not been paid and requested a receipt. I informed her that the receipt should be on file since the payment was completed and even repeated the total amount I had paid. Despite this, she stated again that the order was unpaid and proceeded to assist the next customer. Never attempting to look for the receipt. At that point, the baker from the kitchen called out, "She did pay," and apologizing for the misunderstanding. The original hostess then smiled, laughed, and offered a brief, insincere apology. Anyone reading this can likely imagine the uncomfortable dynamics of the situation. This bakery was once a wonderful place to visit, but cultural sensitivity and customer service training appear to be lacking among some staff members. DO NOT ORDER A CAKE FROM BAKED! THEY WILL SCREW YOU! My daughter's birthday was the day after Thanksgiving, and she requested a custom cake. I did my research and called Baked to order it weeks in advance. The woman on the phone took my order and gave me a price. I was excited to reveal a gorgeous cake and sing "Happy Birthday" to our daughter with our entire family as the climax of our Thanksgiving feast. The day before we were supposed to pick up the cake, I called Baked again and spoke to the same woman. She assured me that the cake would be ready, and that I could pay for it when we arrived between 3:30 pm and 4:00 pm on Thanksgiving Eve. So my husband and I walked over at the agreed upon time with smiles on our faces. Cake pick-up is a fun chore; I was joyfully anticipating seeing the finished cake and the inscription upon it. It was going to make a lot of people very happy on Thanksgiving, especially our daughter. When we arrived, I said, "We're here to pick up our cake!" I gave my name. The woman behind the counter said, "We didn't make it. I called you to confirm and the person who answered the phone said you were getting a cake from a different bakery." We were shocked to hear it. The conversation she claimed to have had was a complete fiction. I did not receive a phone call from Baked all day. I had no missed call from Baked. No spam calls either. I certainly never would have told this woman to cancel the order I'd confirmed the day before. My husband and I were PISSED. She was obviously lying. I said, "What number did you call? Show me the call history on your phone." She said, "I called from a landline. I can't show you the history." This is also BS because landlines do keep a call history. Another woman was working behind the counter, and she said, "I spoke to you yesterday when you confirmed the cake, and I told her [the other woman] not to cancel the order." So the boss had been told that we'd confirmed the cake and then lied to our face about calling me. I have no idea why she would cancel the order despite the other worker telling her that we'd confirmed. Baked lost a $100 sale, and alienated customers for life. And the worst part was that the boss DID NOT GIVE A CRAP. No apology. No "Oh, my God, I messed up." Nothing close to regret or a normal human reaction to fucking up. I'd even say that she showed us contempt for being upset about the situation. The other woman, the one I spoke to on the phone, was chagrined and apologetic, but she was not in charge, clearly. I asked if they could make a cake now, and the contemptuous woman said, "No, we're closing." They offered us cupcakes, basically whatever they hadn't sold yet that day. I refused. We ordered a custom cake, not stale, sad cupcakes! Look, mistakes happen. Things go wrong in life. It's just a cake. My hub hoofed over to Mia's on Smith Street (the ONLY bakery we will go to for orders in the future) and got a fabulous cake that our daughter and family loved. But I will NEVER EVER upon threat of death spend a single dime at Baked again. Horrible experience, terrible service and ordering system, complete disregard, even distain, for customers. read more

I truly appreciate that they limit the guests to 4 total. Some of these people don't understand social distancing and stand almost on top of you!! We got brownies, cupcakes, and iced lattes. The brownies were delicious!! I was hoping to save it for the ride home, but we very quickly devoured the blondie and double dark chocolate brownies very quickly! We also tried their vanilla citrus curdand chocolate chocolate cupcakes. Both were quite tasty and not too sweet! The only slightly disappointing thing and thus the 4 stars was the iced lattes. We drink a lot of coffee and espresso drinks, but these tasted a bit burnt and for $5+, you would expect it to be better. I'm glad I had something to go with the sweets, but not likely to order this again. The shop is roomy and must he a nice place to chill when indoor seating resumes. The best thing about the cakes at Baked is the frosting. I, like so many people, don't love frosting and it's because so often it's overly sweet and very stiff. Not at Baked. Theirs is light and airy, like a whipped butter, and not very sweet at all. There used to be a cupcake shop attached to the children's book store near Union Square whose name I forget that made frosting like this. Ever since that place closed I've been seeking an airy, not too sweet frosting and I'm so happy I found it at Baked. I've tried their black out cake, birthday cake, pistachio, matcha and chocolate cupcakes. Everything here has been impressive, and they'll gladly make large bday cakes for you too. Wow! Stopped in quickly on the way back home from Ikea after I saw some of these yummy looking pastries and treats on Yelp. So glad I did! Ordered the brookster (cookie baked in a brownie) and salted caramel bar. Both were so so so good! The brookster had a nice crunchy cookie and a chocolate boost from the brownie. Perfectly balanced in terms of sweetness in my opinion. The salted caramel bar was the star for me though! The caramel is nice and soft and chewy, with a lightly salted flavor. Honestly I could take even more salt but still tasty. The shortbread cookie is buttery and crumbly and the chocolate on top is exactly what it needed to balance it all out. Very nice bake shop/coffee house. We stopped in during work to get a little pick me up. It was a bit busy around 11am. There were about 4 people in front of us and during the not too bad wait, a few more ended up behind. I got a hazelnut Nutella bar. It was delicious, a bit rich, but tasted like a big Ferrero Rocher. It was a delicious little snack that got me through some overtime. Also grabbed an iced mocha. The mocha was also, so very good. Really nice place, the ladies working there were very pleasant. The fact that I come here so often speaks to how good Baked is since there's not really any other reason to come to Red Hook (except maybe for the pupusas and plantain chips at the ball fields. Or if you are forced to go to Ikea). I've been here 4 or 5 times over the last few years and have tried practically everything of note at this point. The thing that drew me here in the first place (after seeing it on The Best Thing I Ever Ate on the Food Network), and the one thing I always repeat and get each time, is the Sweet + Salty Brownie ($3). This is definitely the best brownie I've ever eaten. It's kind of just like a block of fudge, but with some delicious sea salt sprinkled on top and throughout. It's super dense and incredibly rich and you need to have this at least once. Or thrice. A couple of other great things I tried on my very first visit back in the day were the Chocolate Cloud Cookie (also super chocolatey, soft and rich, but not as overwhelming as the brownie) and The Brookie (if a brownie and a cookie had a sweet, delicious, chewy baby). I've also tried a ton of the several bars they have as well. My favorites were the Peanut Butter Krispy Bar and the Millionaire Bar ($3.25 each). They have a few missteps sometimes here though, like the Cowboy Cookie ($2.25), which was so hard and flavorless that I actually didn't bother finishing it. On my most recent visit, I was excited to see they now have ice cream sandwiches, or Chunkwiches as they call them ($4.50). They're a little pricy for the small size, but they are really great. He warned me not to bite into it right away since I might crack a tooth as it came right out of the freezer. I ate the Sweet + Salty Brownie while I waited for it to thaw, as well as the Chocolate Chip Banana Bread ($2.50), which was ridiculously moist and delicious. After 10 minutes or so, the Chunkwich looked ready, and it was very much worth the wait. Of the 3 available flavors, I tried the one with Peanut Butter Cookies and Blackberry Jam Ice Cream (the other two were Chocolate Chip Cookies with Vanilla Ice Cream and Cowboy Cookies with Coffee Ice Cream). This was a great combo, obviously going for the PB&J thing. I definitely wouldn't mind trying the others next time. Next time I have some time to kill and access to a car (it's way too much of a hassle getting to Red Hook from the city by public transportation, even for a brownie), I'll be back yet again for more of these excellent sweets. read more

I heard that Baked arguably has some of the best cupcakes in NYC. Thus a trip to Red Hook would be in order. We made our way there from the IKEA store (with a detour to Steve's Authentic Key Lime Pies) on a Monday Afternoon. It's an easy walk from IKEA. When we got to Baked, we noticed that just about every table was taken by people eating their baked goods and working on their laptops. There were 2 friendly clerks working there. I asked what cupcakes they had that day. The selection wasn't very big. We both chose the pistachio cupcakes to take back to the hotel with us to have after dinner. Also, the walk made us thirsty so we got a bottle of water. We found a seat by the window and rested while having our water. The pistachio cupcakes were some of the most unique cupcakes we've ever had. The cake part was chock full of pistachio pieces. The frosting, also, had pistachio pieces plus a very distinct pistachio flavor. The only problem with the cupcakes --- the cake part was somewhat dry. Had it been more moist, this would have been a 5-star cupcake. Still, we certainly don't regret the trip to Red Hook. In fact, next visit I certainly would consider going back to Baked and trying a different flavor. read more

I think Baked is just great. They are super nice and very helpful. Im also happy that they picked up right away after Sandy and opened. I came here tonight and picked up 6 cupcakes 4 red velvets and 2 salty sweets both were very good. I also got my hands on a coveted brookster and tried a rainbow bar. I so love the cream on top of the red velvet cupcake its light fluffy not to sweet flavored perfectly. The cake is soft and flavored of chocolate and again not super sweet. Sweet and salty was perfectly balanced although my fav is the red velvet. Brookster is soft and sweet love the two treats together cookies is a little crunchy and brownie soft. The rainbow bar tastes just like rainbow cookies the chocolate was really good. I think it was more of a darker chocolate not to much jam and not to much of an almond taste. We selected Baked for our wedding cake, and it was fabulous. We had two tiers, the bottom being red velvet with cream cheese frosting between the layers and the top traditional yellow cake with butter cream icing (which was also used all around the exterior). Absolutely delicious and beautiful. Working with Baked was also super easy, we mostly interacted with Betty though every time we called the shop whoever picked up was also super friendly and helpful. Lastly, the cake was delivered on time and without a single smudge on it from transit - the whole thing worked out perfect (which was necessary on a day that was high stress). Baked sounds like a place I should be eating some baked goods and sweets? But this review is just going to be based on my experience having a nice coffee break and chill out with my friend in the nicely set up cafe. Saw their sweet and salty brownie featured on TV a while ago and decided to check it out. My friend and I thought the interior was very cozy, a very pleasant cafe. The guy working the register was friendly. I bought two brownies (sweet and salty plus deep dark). I was SUPER EXCITED because they sold a whole separate section of corner pieces (all flavors available), and I love corner pieces. The corner pieces were even cheaper than the regular ones (albeit slightly smaller). The brownies were good; the only thing that would have made them better for me is if they contained nuts, which is a personal preference. read more

Came here for a quick coffee and snack after eating a whole bunch of chocolate at Rakka Chocolate Factory (great place to go if you want to learn and eat). I got the Twix Bar from here and it did not disappoint. It was pretty much just a giant Twix bar cookie. My boyfriend doesn't usually like sweet things but he thought that the Twix bar went great with his coffee. Cute place in Brooklyn to visit. There are also a lot of small businesses in the area you can check out. It also has a cute sitting area. I sat here while eating some of the Twix bar. It is a nice and cozy place. They have ceramic cups but we decided to go paper because we wanted to walk around a bit after. read more

We had our wedding cake made by Baked and it was a big hit! After tasting cakes from a few vendors, we picked Baked because it tasted far better than all the others. So many wedding cakes taste like their main goal is just to look pretty, but Baked's cakes do both! We loved the variety of choices and settled on Passionfruit, which was inspired by a recent trip to St. Lucia.
