Ughh so disappointed. Found this place off of Yelp and walked in to pick up a birthday cake. Went with the raspberry vanilla. It looks great and was excited to try buttermilk from all the great reviews, but was so disappointed when we tasted the cake. Icing was hard and extremely sweet, even the kiddos said it was too sweet. The inside cake was dense. I'm thinking the cake was old and was sitting in the fridge for a while. Got a lemon lavender cake from here because Google reviewers kept raving about this flavor. The lemon flavor was more obvious than the lavender, but I enjoyed the flavor nevertheless. However, it became overwhelmingly saccharine the more bites I took. I left half of my slice of cake untouched because of that. Also note that the consistency of the cake is extremely moist, so much so that the texture of the cake wasn't soft and fluffy but dense and hefty. Though I do prefer soft and fluffy cakes, the moistness of the cake wasn't really an issue for me. It was interesting. The frosting/icing was pretty solid, so I skipped it. My friends said we're supposed to let the cake come to room temperature for the frosting to soften. This wasn't relayed to me by the staff so I don't know! The worker who I picked the cake up from was pretty friendly. The shop had some premade cakes of different sizes in their display. Their cookies looked very tempting. My daughter recently had her 9th birthday party at Buttermilk Bakeshop! Let me tell you, my daughter said it was the "best birthday ever". The baking class party was a really great fit and choice for her cohort of friends due to the age (from 7 to 11 y/o) level, attention span and skill set. Katy worked with me seamlessly from the start with answering all my emails in a timely fashion! I wanted to bring my own decor to match my daughter's requested theme as well as bring a playlist. The baking class will already come with a happy birthday sign but we just had to have a backdrop! We chose the "mini cakes" baking class as well as the apron decorating add-on which all her guests kept as souvenirs. The kids started out by washing their hands then working on the apron design. They all took a cute picture with their aprons on. Then they got to prepare and cut their mini cakes to frost and decorate! (The funnest part!) Katy also gave the kids mini lessons on what happens in the bakery from making buttermilk, cake cutting, coloring frosting etc!! The kids were all so in tune and paying attention! A bonus - my daughter got to choose her actual birthday cake which was included in the package. She chose the Cookies and Milk cake. The cake was devoured within 10 minutes! I would recommend getting extra! That's how delicious it was. While eating pizza, the kids were all dancing and running round (a bit too much, yikes) and having a good time. Stumbled upon this small bakeshop while waiting for a reservation in the neighborhood. I've heard good things about this bakeshop, and have always wanted to try it. They have a variety of baked goods, from cookies, cupcakes, cakes, and mini cakes, all of which were beautifully decorated. My girlfriends and I were having a galentine's night, so we were drawn to this really cute simple white cake with a floral heart on top. The cake was so delicious. We loved it so much. This is regarding their 3rd Ave & 13th St location. I understand Too Good To Go is an app that is supposed to minimize waste, but I dropped $15 (for a $45 value) for a "mini cake" that was made from scraps. This was an attempt to profit off of leftover ingredients & lazy creativity. I wouldn't pay $15 regular price for this. I'm sorely disappointed in this business. I wish I opened this box before I left the area, because I easily would have paid the same amount for an actually presentable mini cake from Ladybird Bakery, just a 20min walk nearby. And the embarrassment of wanting to bring this as a supplement for a bridesmaids morning on a wedding day! You can say that's why I'm extra upset about this. The team is lovely and will work with you if you have food allergies. They can't guarantee but they do try to limit cross contamination and if you put in a custom order, they will absolutely keep the allergy causing items away from the workspace and equipment. My whole family inhaled the cake and there wasn't anything leftover. The chocolate mouse was the perfect texture for the cake. The funfetti cake was festive! The meringue buttercream was divine! I can't say enough good things about our experience with Buttermilk Bakeshop. From the beginning of the planning process to the results, they were so helpful, responsive, kind and in the end of course, super talented! We needed a cake for 50 people for our daughter's Bat Mitzvah and she had VERY specific ideas about what it should look like. They have an amazing vegan & gluten-free chocolate chunk cookie! I used to walk past here and not really think about checking them out because I assumed that there was nothing vegan or gluten-free. It looked like a nice bakery filled with regular cookies, cakes, and cupcakes, but I didn't think they had anything for me. Then one day this past spring, I happened to pause at their display case against the window and saw they had not one, but two vegan and gluten-free items! I've been getting the vegan & gluten-free chocolate chunk cookie frequently since then. It's one of the better vegan chocolate chunk/chip cookies I've had (because many others are not great). And one day, one of the ladies working there asked me if I could taste the banana in the cookie ... I didn't even think there was banana in it! So then I even had my (non-vegan) roommate taste the cookie, and even though she HATES banana, she said she wouldn't have known there was banana in it if I hadn't told her and really liked it! There's also a peanut butter bar that's vegan and gluten-free ... kind of like a rice krispie treat but with less rice krispies and more of the stuff holding it together, and a super thick layer of chocolate on top. It's delicious (especially if you like peanut butter, like me), but it's quite heavy. I can't eat more than a couple of bites before I have to stop, which I guess is good to have as a treat to last over a few days. The ladies working there are pretty nice, too! And I brought a friend who got a non-vegan cookie and she said that was also really good. I imagine just about everything here is enjoyable. They're all very pretty at the very least. My schedule is wonky now, such that I can't go by there nearly as often as I did earlier in the year, so now I'm constantly craving one of those cookies! read more

While they apologized and agreed to 'email' a check (it actually meant in the mail), of course - I never received anything.
