Hit or miss with several of the bakery items. Some are tasty, others dry out pretty quickly. I should not have to put an hourglass on the counter when it comes to purchasing this stuff. I also find a lot of it does not hold well. The cookies crumble quickly and the apricot hamantashen is fairly bland. I also got a raspberry one that is decent. Their black and white cookie stands up well to most others in the city. They also proudly sell Linzer tarts, which I had to get, and hopefully it holds up. If not, it will not bring this review down any further. I know what this bakery is without having to do that. I will stick with Cuccio's. read more

INSANELY GOOD PASTRIES AND COOKIES AND DOUGHNUTS AND... ALL OF IT! So sad that this piece of heaven is tucked away around a corner. It's damn near a crime. The space is small and dark, but everything is clean and well maintained. I remember thinking "Regina" owned the bakery when I first went inside lol, but I learned that it just means queen in Italian. As for the food, I tend to stay away from black and white cookies outside of Jewish bakeries as they're often disappointing, but these are right on par! Soft cookie, solid, but soft icing. Exactly like a Jewish bakery. The rainbow cookies have spongy cake and the right amount of jelly between layers. The chocolate isn't waxy as often happens in refrigerator cases. The pignoli cookies are another winner, although I preferred the pignoli free version, the amaretti. Chewy on the inside, a little crunch on the outside, just like they should be. And a light dusting of powdered sugar. Jam cookies and crystal sugar sprinkled cookies were similarly delicious. Apple turnover was full of apple and yummy filling, without tasting fake or preserved. Nothing at this place lasts long enough to need to be preserved! The muffins are inventive. I don't even think I covered everything... I got way too much and yet not enough. That's my only gripe is that some of the stuff I look forward to is sold out lol I really have to try the Cannoli! I know, I know... Marie is a wonderful host, as was the employee who served us. Rainbow cookies were dry and stale. It looked like the pieces on the display tray were from numerous random sheets. Sfogliatelle (lobster tails) were filled with generic flavorless whipped cream, not traditional custard. The pastry was crispy but the cream made it unappetizing and difficult to want to finish. Chocolate almond cookies were hard as a rock, had no flavor and were way too sweet. Regina is one of the few legit Brooklyn bakeries left standing in the years of gentrification and changing tastes. If you want to buy some Italian cookies by the pound, this is your spot for sure. Personally I think Regina does it best in two categories: cookies and bread. I love their frosted sugar character cookies, which come in all shapes and forms-from holiday themed to animals to cartoon characters to whatever the bakers felt like doing that day. Not only are they super cute, they taste really awesome-the right amount of frosting and the perfect amount of snap and chew for a sugar cookie. Don't sleep on the black and white cookies, which are also perfect to form and come in green and white on St Patricks Day and pink and white on Valentine's Day. Their breads are also pretty stellar. I love their prosciutto bread in particular, which is made all the better when warm and dipped into olive oil at home. Really the only stuff I'm kinda meh on is their pastries, which aren't bad by any means but aren't as satisfying to me. Their tiramisu could use a rethinking. A great little throwback bakery, the likes of which I'm thrilled has lasted so long. read more

My mother used to bring home a box of the assorted cookies and we use to eat them before my dad came home (not wanting to share). The owners were especially helpful when we were in a bind. We needed a cake for the next day and was able to pick up the next day after 12 noon. The cake was delicious and fresh! Our son wanted a chocolate strawberry shortcake while they were able to accommodate in short notice. The chocolate whip cream on the cake was extra smooth and fresh and the strawberry jam in the cake was just as yummy! Regina Bakery has been a South Slope/Windsor Terrace staple for as long as I can remember living in Brooklyn. Which at this point has been almost a decade. When I first moved here I remember passing it time after time walking to the park from my old apartment on 17th Street. Most recently I actually stepped inside a few months ago with a friend. I should have done this a long time ago but I'm not usually seeking out buying huge cakes. Which I might add they are beautifully decorated and custom made for any occasion and much more reasonably priced than some bougie bakeries nearby. We mostly came in for iced coffees and gawked at their windows of Italian cookies, cannoli, eclairs and smelled in their fresh loaves of bread. My friend caved and bought a sack of cookies of a huge variety for an incredibly cheap price. Jelly filled, chocolate covered, sprinkles, rainbow cookies. They even sell huge slabs of pizza dough for less than $2! So happy this small bakery is still around all these years. read more

I went to get a small birthday cake (for only 3 people) and specifically asked if the cakes were fresh from the same day. The woman behind the counter assured me they were. Fantastic Black and White cookies. It is sad they had to leave that prime location in the heart of Park Slope many years ago and move, but I am sure rents increasing were part of the reason. Truly a dangerous store - the tantalizing displays of cookies, pastries, and other confections is irresistible. Thankfully, on my first visit, I had the willpower to walk out only with a bag of rainbow cookies/7 layer cookies. They didn't last long enough to get a pic, but they are so beautiful, with the characteristic neon colors and a shiny chocolate finish. They tasted unbelievable, with super moist cake layers, fruity jam that didn't soak into the cake, and yummy dark chocolate. Now the test is how long I can hold out before buying more.... Maybe a few hours?? Regina is best for getting cookies by the pound or ordering cakes for an event. It is not an eat in bakery, there is no seating and I don't think they serve coffee or anything. They also take credit card, but there is a $10 limit. The cookies cost more than $10/lb, so you'll likely hit this limit. read more

These were show stoppers. This local business is a gem! Delicious, classic treats and lovely staff. We came in the other day when I was out with my kid, who's too young to get vaccinated. She was crying because she had wanted a donut from Dunkin, but the cashier there wouldn't put a mask on when I asked her so we made a swift exit. We were in the mood for cheesecakes and saw this bakery on our way so wanted to give a try. They do not have a sitting area, only to go. Lots of cookie options, cute designs and colors. They have mini and regular slice cheesecakes. We picked the mini ones, one strawberry and one chocolate. $3.50 each. 2 ladies working there were kind and had smiling faces. In the fridge there are cakes of different sizes. Keep in mind for birthdays or special occasions. The taste of the cakes were okay. We did not like the toppings that much and there is no cracker or cake part at the bottom. read more

The cannolis here are absolutely amazing. They're filled right when you order so you know you're getting the freshest cannolis possible. They also have a wide selection of different cakes as well as Italian pastries. It's a small, hole in the wall, mom and pop shop - but let's be real, those are always the best shops especially for food! I highly recommend stopping in if you're in the area even if it's just for a small cannoli or pastry - it's worth it! The cannoli I had was in the most perfectly crisp shell that crumbled beautifully when you bit in. The filling had that wonderful sweetness and tart quality you expect from cannoli filling and the chocolate chips gave a nice touch of sweetness. Glad to know that a cute bakery is a few blocks walk from my spot. They have an amazing array of cookies. My wife and I tried their chocolate chip nutella cookie which was yummy and so was there normal chocolate chip cookie. My wife didn't enjoy the normal cheesecake as much, she said it tasted just like pure cream cheese. We did however, enjoy the bread pudding. Very moist and delicious. They always seem to have a large selection of cookies, pastries and pies. They have bread too I think but I don't come for the bread....I come for the goods. I hopped in on my birthday to treat myself to a Napoleon which aren't usually found at smaller bakeries. It really hit the spot. Very fresh and flaky. I also have developed an addiction to the rainbow cookies. My usual lack of a sweet tooth has turned into a full blown sugar addiction. Cute neighborhood bakery. A no-frills, traditional style place that won't overcharge you for cookies or cakes. I purchased a Halloween-themed cake here on a whim (to bring to a party) and it was only $16--it had quite a few decorations (read: ghost marshmallows and tombstone cookies) and it was a hit! Tasted like Candy Corn, Yum! Also, you can select a few cookies and pay for it per-pound, which I think is also great if you're looking to grab a few on the way home.
