Any occasion, my family buys desserts from Palermo's. If we just want a random cannoli or if we're celebrating someone's birthday, we always go here. I personally recommend their cannolis and their rainbow cookies. The best. I've gotten a lot of different types of desserts from this bakery but by far these are my favorite. I think the flavor of their food is just top-tier among the other bakeries in the area. They're a little bit pricey but the quality and staff are really nice. It's a cute interior little shop and I would recommend going here. read more

The pastry shop was amazing. Sold anything you could think of and the staff was friendly.

Two words; Hairy Cannoli Inedible and the cannolis had long hairs throughout, it was completely disgusting Also neighbors complain the owner is rude and burnt birthday cakes for customers and try and cover them with the wrong colored frosting. Look elsewhere for pastry and sweet nibbles read more

Writing my 999th review to express more love for Palermo's. My original review addresses the food itself. I don't get over here as much as I used to as life has gotten busier, but luckily I have a friend in the neighborhood (thanks Olu) that gets me my fix. I've been buying cookies and pastries from Josephine, Debbie, Enzo and the others for literally my entire life. I remember sitting on the glass counter as a small child. And I still am an absolute pain in the ass every time I go, picking out each type when I buy assorted cookies, just like I did as a kid. As you get older, so much of your earlier life fades away to only memories. Palermo's at every major holiday is a constant for me. My Grandma had been buying everything here since they opened in the 70's, and this is one of the last major connections I have left to her. It doesn't hurt that Palermo's still makes the best overall cookies (ie: rainbow, assorted) I've had anywhere in NY either (including Villabate, Alliota's, Artuso's, Cuccio's etc). I will be coming here until I die or they close. After that, I may have to open a bakery myself. Long live Palermo's! I should have written this review last summer when I visited NY, but better late than ever! I absolutely LOVE this place! I really wish there was one in AZ, where I live now, because the Cannoli's are to die for!! The staff is super friendly and encouraged me to taste different things- this led to a $72 cookie run; it was worth every penny! Also, the cakes are absolutely beautiful! Stopped in for a box of assorted cookies. We had the chocolate chip, rainbow, chocolate butter with chocolates filled with chocolate dipped in chocolate, chocolate chip butter filled with chocolate and dipped in chocolates, and rainbow sprinkle butter with jelly filling, and fried rugulach style style cookie. My favorite was the chocolate chip cookie. I think it was the freshest of the bunch. read more

Very, very tasty rainbow cookies. Cannolis are pretty good. I love the filling. Creamy, delicious and completely fill the shell. But, the shells aren't crusty. At least the few times I've had their cannolis this has always been my complaint. I keep hoping it will get better. read more

I have been coming to Palermo for many, many years. I think I began going here once I could walk and hold a $10 bill out to one of the nice ladies behind the counter. This bakery is tiny but amazing. You can smell the freshly-baked goodness once you open the door. There are displays full of cookies, cakes, and any other dessert that your sweet tooth could desire. They also have fridges with the fresh fruit cakes (their strawberry cake is AMAZING) and milk. The prices can be a bit steep (10 bucks for a pound of assorted cookies) but it's worth the cost. They will even fill their cookies with chocolate, instead of jam, if you do so desire. And who doesn't love a bakery that still uses the old school string dispensers that hang from the ceiling? Ordered a last minute cake for my husband's birthday here. The owner Enzo agreed to make it for me thank god.(I live around the corner and I'm a procrastinator.) The cake was soft, fluffy and the ricotta filling was delicious. The cake decoration was okay; nothing to write home about. I was glad that it was not a special occasion, just a birthday BBQ. I would like to thank Enzo, the Owner, for creating the most beautiful 90th Birthday for my mom's celebration. It was so fresh and delicious. He made us a heart shaped cake with cannoli and french cream filling decorated with fresh whipped cream and airbrushed it beautifully. My nephew drove from Long Beach, LI to pick up the cake early in the morning and bring it back to Bellmore for the celebration at the restaurant! We have been patrons here for over 30 years from when we lived in Canarsie and continued to come when we moved to Massapequa and we continue to come for every special event like guest visiting from out of state or when we travel. I will never shop in this bakery. After going into the store and asking for My money back cause the cake was the wrong one . The girl behind the counter gave out the wrong cake . . It was told no strawberries and the child is allergic to it. They sold a cake with strawberries in it. The cake went back uncut. Owner is rude and nasty and he doesn't stand behind what he sells. He's ripping customers off. Refused to take the cake back. The bakery should be sued for selling the wrong cake . Allergies can be life-threatening. read more

This is my favorite bakery in Brooklyn. A Brooklyn fixture since the 1960s. The business is family-owned and operated. They own the 2-story house that the bakery occupies which is why this bakery is able to keep their prices very low. Their cakes and cookies are amazing. They also make one of the best tasting vanilla & chocolate pudding birthday cakes ($14) I have ever tasted. If I lived near this place, I would be stopping by there every week. read more

This place has the best canoli's, stuffed lobster tails, and great cookies. But let the truth be told there is no reason people should stand on line because they don't have enough help. Two people working the counter at 7am on Christmas Eve when you know there is going to be a line out the door with loyal yearly customers is nuts. The stress that I was put under while telling the staff what I wanted to order was unfair. I have also tried on several occasions to place orders and I have been told they don't take orders. Well, while waiting on line yesterday and talking to various customers I was told they do they orders if you are a steady customer. It looks like Michael's Bakery for me next holiday.
