Okay, so i was able to cop a slice of the banana cake for a friend who was visiting from out of town. The owner/baker was SO NICE and even let me in this afternoon even though they were technically closed. The selection was limited (only cuz they weren't really open), so i wisely settled on the banana cake cuz i KNEW it was gonna be lit after having tried it last year. ::Spoiler Alert:: The cake was declared to be the best in the land. At 8 dollars a slice I was expecting something unique , decadent , fresh and somewhat multilayered in its complexity . Their chocolate cake delivered on all those things and at a high level . First of all , props for being the first cake I've had that dissolves in your mouth without chewing . Incredible ! The frosting tasted very rich and had subtle undertones of a possible flavored rum which was a nice touch . If I were to rate this place a 5 it would've had to have another dimension to the cake overall . Perhaps an additional texture or ingredient could've done the trick ? 1st time at the new location (ok, so I'm waaay late), I'm not really into sweets so following a bakery is some serious stuff. The outside looking in was like a typical baked goods shop, not what people are writing in their reviews. I was expecting the worst as I must admit, the last location was very sparse and didn't look as if a business was there, but this local I'm digging. The cases were still not full but better than the last location.....and NO, it did NOT smell bad, it smelled like cake and coffee. There was a rush for holiday orders so I booked and paid for mine today! A Banana Pudding Cake, a Sweet Potato cake and will decide on Monday to add a Peach Cobbler, Pistachio cake or if he can make a Bread Pudding Cake. He has a LOT of orders and Jude has only one helper so he will let me know then if he can add it. Everyone, come back!...you will see some small but very nice changes. Unfortunately, a very unprofessional business. I tried to order three cakes from GrubHub, but before pressing 'pay' my intuition told me to call and make sure the cakes were actually available. The gentleman who answered the phone with just "Yeah" told me there were several more cake options available that weren't listed on either DoorDash nor GrubHub. So I placed my order and then called back to just to confirm the notes about the cakes I placed in the delivery instructions. The same gentleman told me he would not release my order unless GrubHub paid him upfront, therefore, I needed to call customer support and tell them as much. What? My husband went out of his way to bring me some sweet potato pie in honor of Canadian thanksgiving. One day last year my boyfriend and I were walking past this place and a man standing outside offered us a sample. Ever since then Cake Ambiance has been one of our "go to" establishments. I feel like the interior is a little bit misconceiving. It's a small store front tucked away close to busy Flatbush; however, the desserts that this place pumps out are exceptional! On our 1st stop in we tried a few samples but the sweet potato pie/cake stole the show. It's got such an amazingly sweet but not overly sweet sweet potato taste. The crust is soft and chewy unlike an ordinary pie crust. The service is always quick and speedy. In the future I'd like to try more of their sweets; however, usually when I'm here I'm picking up several slices of the sweet potato pie/cake. I used to patronize this bakery often but unfortunately since it relocated to Flatbush/ East Flatbush I no longer am a fan. I am a customer willing to pay above market for a good product but the prices have remained the same ($7/ cake slice) as they were when this bakery was near Barclays but everything from the presentation of the store to the service has regressed. Last time I went here I was greeted by a dark ambiance, foul smell, unpleasant counter guy, and just overall an unpresentable bakery. I used to order his cake and travel 3 hours with it that's how much a loved it. I am not sure if it is because he is now in East Flatbush that he doesn't think he needs to work as hard or what. It is quite insulting and disappointing. As there is so much competition in Brooklyn I will be taking my business elsewhere. Support small businesses! After a basketball game at Barclays Center and eating ice cream at Sky Ice, I still wanted more, since I was already in Brooklyn. My always handy dandy Yelp app told me to go to Cake Ambience, and of course I did. Don't expect much decor from this place - it's about as basic as it gets and reminds me of a bodega for some reason. They had only 1 kind of cupcake - red velvet, and maybe 4-5 kinds of cake including red velvet cheesecake, pistachio, strawberries and cream, and pistachio. $8 a slice... not cheap. I got the red velvet cupcake because the slices of cake were way too massive. While the cake was moist, it was too sweet, and very much overpowered by the frosting. The frosting actually tasted like cream cheese unlike other places, which I liked, but the frosting to cake ratio was just off - wayyy too much frosting. Credit card minimum is $10. read more

Terrible wife that I am, I completely forgot to sort out a cake for my husband's new job celebration. I came to Cake Ambiance a few hours before 25 hungry guests descended on our house. The owner was so helpful, providing advice on what might work (he was also very friendly, chatting about his time living in the UK, where I'm from). In the end I went with several slices of chocolate cake, carrot cake and banana cream cake.
