Cold foam matcha latte with jelly
    Jenny C.

So yummy! I love Japanese desserts and this one is super good! I love watching them make the matcha and all their sweets are so yummy. The wait time was pretty long on the weekend and they give you a number while you wait near the take out area. Interestingly enough my anmitsu came out before the drinks did. We got the Hojicha and matcha cream foam latte and it's super rich and slightly sweet as a dessert. It also comes with jelly on the bottom as well! So I recommend grabbing a spoon for this even if it's a drink. I also ordered the anmitsu and the mango pudding. The anmitsu is so tasty and where it won't be like a cha a tea house craftsmanship it definitely savored my anmitsu cravings. They make this with vanilla ice cream and I would recommend adding the kuromitsu syrup on it for sure! The mango pudding reminds me of lady M and it's super tasty and rich in flavor. I definitely will be ordering the mochi ice cream next time I'm back to industry city!

This mochi ice cream was a delightful experience. The mochi itself is super chewy and stretchy, at one point we could slurp it like a rice noodle which was so much fun. The ice cream itself is not overly sweet. The match flavor is excellent and the strawberry one is very classic. Love the red bean and jelly surprise at the bottom. The Japanese town area is definitely worth checking out, lots of places to sit and eat. Very cute place to come do some shopping.

I wanted to like their desserts and drinks so badly, but I fear it looks better than it tastes. The hot Hojicha Latte was not made properly either. The worker was whisking in circular motions and put 1-2 cups of hot water. A Hojicha latte should be 95% milk. There should only be a teaspoon of hot water mixed in with the powder and whisked in a zig-zag motion. Therefore, the drink tasted really bad unfortunately. The mochi ice cream was good, but the cup is so small that the ice cream drips all over the edges of the cup. The same applies to the shaved ice. It literally fell to the side after a few spoonfuls in. Also, they use a plain block of ice to shave and they should use a milk ice instead so it's creamier and more authentic. I have no positive comments about the drinks sadly. It was all cream and jelly. And the cream was so bitter. I am giving 3 stars because everything visually is pretty and the service is great. The staff are very kind, but I don't see myself ever buying anything from here again.

Japan Village in Brooklyn is my favorite spot to hang out on weekends, and I stop by Yamada Stand for sweet treats every single time :))) I've tried their mochi ice cream, kakigori and the latest monaka mont blanc and EVERYTHING HITS. My bar for matcha/hojicha desserts is very high, but they won my heart with the authenticity and richness of tea flavors. *Monaka Mont Blanc (NEW!!) $8 Seasonal item. Chestnut dessert is the perfect wintery sweet treat imo. Sandwiched between two crispy wafers, monaka is beuatifully layered with azuki bean paste, whipped cream, and sweetened chestnut purée. It was so amazing to witness how they pipe the fresh chestnut purée into distinctive threads. I love japanese style mont blanc because it is lighter and not too sweet. *Hojicha Mochi Ice Cream $8 *Mango Mochi Ice Cream $8 First, the size of their ice cream scoop is unbelievably huge. They precisely weight every scoop and gently wrap it with mochi dough. The mochi part is very chewy and stretchy (look at the mochi pull!!). The most delightful part is that they add tea jelly and red bean paste on the bottom. I've tried matcha, hojicha and mango so far, and hojicha ice cream is my absolute favorite.

This little food stand is located on the second floor of Japan Village which I didnt know even existed. They have shaved ice, mochi ice cream, and some seasonal japanese drinks and strawberry milk. We ordered the Inu Kakigori which is shaved ice packed to look like a puppy. You actually get to see the staff work on the creation so that was pretty neat. The bowl can easily feed two people and was packed with red bean and jelly on the inside. There are also tables and seats set up between the stores so you dont need to walk around carrying your food. Will definitely come back and try their other desserts. Be sure to check on their hours because when we went they were not open everyday of the week and they close pretty early on the days when they are open.

I love hojicha everything so this place is right up my alley. I came on a Sunday afternoon and there was no line at all. I ordered a hojicha and strawberry shaved ice, a hojicha mochi ice cream, and a hojicha latte with oat milk. The tea flavor in the ,hojicha shaved ice was strong but not intense. The syrup was just perfect and not too sweet. We opted to add a hojicha ice cream which was an additional $3. The strawberry shaved ice , which was said to their most popular item on their menu, was for my kids so I only had a small bite just to taste it and found it a little too sweet for my liking. The mochi ice cream was creamy yet with a decent amount of tea flavor so it didn't feel too heavy. The mochi wrap was thin with a good springy and chewy texture. There were also some tea jelly at the bottom which was a surprise in a good way. The only complain is I wish it came with a larger container as it was hard to scoop the ice cream with the mochi and it got really messy. The hojicha latte was just ok. It was just tea and milk and lacked a little bit of sweetness. Overall, we enjoyed our desserts especially on a hot summer day. The price point for most of the items were fair except I feel the shaved ice was a little expensive considering the size wasn't that big. But I would still come back if we are in the area again.

    Anmitsu

Ever since they opened up the second floor of the Japan Village area, I've been coming to this little shop for dessert after my meals. In particular for the Anmitsu, which is essentially an assortment of different Japanese ingredients such as red beans, tea jelly, mochi balls, ice cream, rice crackers, and a few other little tidbits. Similarly speaking, it's kind of close to the construction of filipino Halo-Halo. The blend of sweet, savory, salty, and bitter from so many different components bounce off each other so well, and just makes you want to dig into the next bite because each one is a little different and customizable based off how you want it to be. I find it to be such a fun looking, tasty dessert that's not at all too heavy after you had a hefty meal in Industry City. Heck, my sister got this dish in Japan a few times and said that the rendition they make HERE is tastier. While the Anmitsu is my mainstay, I've also had the Kakigori a few times and it is also pretty spot on in terms of execution. The shaved ice they make is melt in your mouth tender, like snow, and the syrups they use are soaked throughout THE ENTIRE dish, so that every bite is filled with flavor. A lot of the times this is not the case with a lot of places here which basically only soak the top part of their shaved in syrup for aesthetic purposes and leave the bottom to just be a mound of flavorless NOTHING lol. The condensed milk they add alongside it is also a great touch that adds a bit of creaminess to it as well as another layer of sweetness to the dish. Overall, just as enjoyable as the Anmitsu, and may be preferable if you're someone who has an issue with multiple textures and flavors interacting in one bowl. Between the ambience of the area surrounding it, the quaint service, and the genuinely authentic and super tasty sweets, this is a must stop if you're around Industry City!

    Matcha and Mango

I had to try the mochi ice cream when I saw it, and I'm so glad I did. The mochi was spot on, perfectly chewy and stretchy. The ice cream itself could use a little work though. The matcha flavor was a bit icy and not as creamy as I was hoping for, and the mango was super light, I wish the mango flavor came through more. That said, I loved the red bean and jelly at the bottom, such a fun surprise and really tasty!

I recently stopped by to try out their serve soft serve ice cream inside Japan Village on the first floor. I got the matcha ($5.52) and milk flavor soft serve ($5.52). The matcha soft serve has a more bitter taste and the milk tastes sweeter and creamier. I would like to try their mochi ice cream when I come back again. They also have these adorable fruity animal shaped shaved ice and drinks as well.

Yamada is located at the upper level of Japan Village and conveniently within walking distance from the 36 St subway station. The weather was in the high 70s today. My good friend Cynthia Z. and I decided to try Yamada. The ambiance was perfect for our dessert date. The cashier told us their rock ice came from Ishikawa. We were fascinated. Animal KAKIGORI *sharing is caring* KUMA + Mango Ice Cream + Milk Syrup + Mango Syrup + Peach + Orange Mmm, after my first bite of the kakigori. I am in heaven. One word: Scrumptious Note: They only accept credit cards! Bookmark this spot to try!

Yamada's massive mochi ice creams caught my attention a while back, but I only had the chance to try this place a few weeks ago. It's located on the second floor of Japan Village on the opposite end of Daiso. After looking at their menu, it was really hard to make a decision. I love kakigori (Jap-style shaved ice), so it was a hard tie between that and the mochi ice cream. But because I'm trying to save money these days, I went with the cheaper option: the mochi ice cream. The flavor options were mango, hojicha, strawberry, and matcha. I secretly wanted hojicha but I knew my husband preferred matcha so that's what I got. Also, get your tissues ready 'cause it can get surprisingly messy! We sat down on a bench on the 2nd floor to dig in. The mochi dough was certified very stretchy; it was sooo satisfying to eat it. Though it wasn't advertised on the menu, there was red bean and grass jelly at the very bottom! I loved that surprise addition; we found it at the right moment, just as we were starting to get tired of the mochi ice cream. I'd probably come back next to try the kakigoris, though their drinks were tempting too. I mean yuzu shiso is a first!

I have been wanting to come here for a while since I love shaved ice. However was a bit disappointed by the dog shaped kakigori. I would recommend not getting the animal shaped ones, as those are probably more so just for the looks. The top portion of the shaved ice had no taste at all. We had to ask the lady to add extra syrup onto the shaved ice. I think the original kakigori probably taste better anyways because they can drench it in sauce without worrying about ruining the look of the animal shape. The mochi ice cream was delicious! I got the hojicha flavor and I loved the smoky taste of it. The mochi itself is not too thick but it does wrap all the way to the bottom, so it is bigger than it seems. It is all a little pricey for what it is. I'd probably only come back for the mochi ice cream.

Anyway, I was in Brooklyn with my brother to see a concert and had just finished dinner. We had some time before doors opened so we decided to grab a little ice cream before heading over to the venue. Farmacy was steps away - it all seemed like it was meant to be, so off we went. Farmacy aims to capture the nostalgia of an old fashioned soda shop and ice cream parlor. Immediately upon walking in we were greeted by aesthetics - the tile, fixtures, and decor totally give off that vibe. There are a few tables to sit as well as a large bar area with stools; I also noticed a few tables set up outside as well. The traffic flow is set up so that you order first and then have it served to you after sitting. Browsing the menu, I noticed they have a selection of ice cream scoops, shakes, egg creams, specialty sodas, hot chocolates, and a large variety of sundae creations. Since we were there for ice cream, we decided to split a sundae -specifically the Sir Twix-a-Lot. This was chunks for shortcake tossed in caramel and topped with vanilla ice cream that was coated in a chocolate shell. Overall I thought the sundae was solid - but the combinations of textures weren't my favorite to be honest, mostly with how the shortcake played with the ice cream. It wasn't bad though - the flavors definitely gave the Twix aesthetic. My only other issue with the dish was that because chocolate shell was used, any residue at the bottom was hard so you have to chisel it if you want to savor any last spoonfuls; I guess that comes with the territory. Service was good - everyone was friendly. It wasn't too busy when we were there so we had our selection of seats and our ice cream was ready pretty quickly. Overall, I'm glad I finally tried Brooklyn Farmacy out - they have a large selection so I would definitely return when I'm in the area again.

The extra dollar for marshmallow made the chocolate even sweeter, so it was overwhelming and I wouldn't recommend. But. The extra dollar for whipped cream would be nice because the their homemade whipped cream isn't sweet, so it will just thicken up the drink and give you that extra texture oooomph that you'll appreciate.
