F3. Zesty Orange Tea and F2. Fresh Grapefruit Tea
Shirley L.

I never try Yummy Boba Dessert until their summer BOGO promotion. Their desserts are okay. Nothing that I really like but they do have a small amount of variety. I really like their sweet taro and purple yam milk tea. It's like this paste that they smear all over the cup and add milk tea. It's like actual taro/purple yam and not artificial favoring. The other drinks are decent but not my go to. There's usually no line and the drinks are prep very quickly.

First time trying this place out. The store has no tables but bench with limited seatings. And another issue would be it's street parking. If the food and drinks are great, I think I would go back, but it seems like I most likely won't be returning for another try. The drinks and desserts are average to me. Nothing too capturing and interested to me. I did try their bull dog mousse cake. I think I'm just not a mousse cake person cause it didn't taste too good for me to continue a second bite. Yes, one bite I'm done. Even my little girl who LOVES dessert didn't even want to finish that. Only a few small bites and turn that away. But we both think the bull dog was cute. I also ordered their signature drink, pomelo and a grapefruit drink for my husband. Both drink taste ugh, soso. I can't seem to find a reason to return back for their food or drink.

Small boba and desserts shop just off 7th Ave with no indoor seating (just a small standing area), so take out only! We got two original milk teas with ice silk jelly (QQ noodles) and grass jelly. We were told the difference between the original and signature milk teas is that original is more tea-heavy and signature is more milk-heavy. Honestly, the original was still way more milk heavy than I would have liked -- not much tea flavor. The ice silk jelly was pretty decent and only special in that it is not a topping you can get at every boba shop. For desserts we got the taro & purple yam mochi with fresh cream and the mango pancake (also with fresh cream). The mochi tasted great, though I could have done without the cream, if they had an option with just the flavored filling, I would have picked that. The taro and purple yam flavor was delicious. The mango pancake also contained cream, but had a piece of mango inside, the pancake exterior was pretty light and not too heavy. The mochi tasted better to me, but in both cases I would've preferred no cream in the dessert (but the cream itself was good). All in all, the drinks didn't impress me here but the desserts were pretty good. The items aren't cheap though so keep that in mind. It's a solid sweets shop but I wouldn't recommend every item. They do have a decently large menu so you'l likely find something that you enjoy here.

B4. Mango with Glutinous Rice Balls

Very small shop for teas and desserts. Basically it all take out. Large menu selection. Helpful staff when you don't know what to order. For my first time there I ordered the signature crepe style cake. Consisted of many layers but it was light and tasty with great ube flavor. Also the mango with glutinous rice ball desert was also good; nice chew texture with good mango flavor. A place to go when you have that boba dessert craving.

P1. Signature Taro Ball

This is a tiny little place without any dine-in tables. But the desserts were great! I had the taro ball. Wanted to have a mixed with two flavors but they said they cannot do it... I'm glad I had the taro flavor. It was not too sweet and the taro paste goes perfect with the cream! Also ordered a soy milk box. It was great!!! The best I had so far. The soy flavor was very strong and I love it. Not too sweet is a big plus! Will definitely come back again to try something new!

The taro milkshake is so excellence, it has the real taro mix nicely together with the other ingredients taste not too sweet but very addictive ! Also, I tried the Japanese cheesecake which was super soft and tasty. One if the best bakery shops in 8th Ave Brooklyn. Mochi flavor, i like taro and Oreo a lot !

both the milkshake & milk tea were very good! i recommend getting less sweet. i had 30% sweet & it was more than enough.

Caramel milk tea and signature milk tea with with cake cream. Durian mochi and dirty roll cake!

Busy but fairly…read moreclean, lots of foot traffic, people come and go, but otherwise a great spot to grab a drink or a bite with friends. There's a lot of bubble tea competition in the area so it's nice to see them thriving. My usual rotation is: Wonder Grape - light and refreshing, my most ordered drink Hojicha Latte - my caffeine pick when I want that roasted flavor Coco Mango - more of a dessert drink, reminds me of mango sai mai lo Mochi O Sesame - dessert like, creamy and satisfying Pomegranate Burst - my no caffeine antioxidant pink drink during that time Persimmon series - my actual favorite but it only shows up during the fall season They also have snacks like popcorn chicken, crispy chicken burgers, and eggy waffles. One thing though, this location doesn't seem to carry the cauliflower that I've had and liked from other Jooy spots. I still think their older signature drinks are the most reliable. Some of the newer series feel a little rushed. I tried the pear series and the pear tasted unripe while the pomelo was a lot which made the drink come out pretty bitter. The guava series was also too light when I tried it, almost like guava tinted tea.

Tried the recommended guava matcha cream, really delicious and not too sweet. I did ask for less ice but it still seemed a lot to me and the cream was good however next time I'll try without. It is pricey but a nice treat once in a while.

My sister has the app, so she was able to order for pick-up. The order took 20 minutes, so we went to pick up some groceries in the area before heading to pick up the drinks. When you first walk in, you are hit with the lovely and fragrant smell of tea leaves, and freshly brewed tea. I went with one of the more popular drinks - Coconut Mango Blue. I don't normally love coconut flavor but you couldn't taste it too much here. You taste more of the mango flavor, which was refreshing. I had never had blue spirulina before and it didn't really taste like anything. Again, you just taste more of the mango. Hubby had the Green Grape Boom, which was a little melty by the time he drank it so it would have tasted much better if it was still slushy. I think next time, I would try just a plain Jasmine tea, so that I could really taste the flavor of the tea.

Almost all other tea shops in this neighborhood close pretty early so that definitely sets this establishment apart. The milk tea was made well, just the appropriate amount of sweetness. I will say the Boba was slightly over cooked and on the gummier, softer side. The tea flavor selection is a little bit limited I feel, but not entirely a dealbreaker. They offer some savory snacks as well which I would be curious to try next time. Overall, solid spot for some authentic milk tea.

My sister and I have passed by this place multiple times in the past, though we never stopped by to try any of their drinks. This past Saturday, my sister wanted to try someplace new, so we decided to go to Upwind. When we walked in, there were only two staff: a tea-rista/cashier and a tea-rista in training. Both were very patient as we looked through the menu. My sister ended up ordering the kumquat lemon green tea with no sugar, and I really liked how the tea-rista/cashier advised that she get it with 30% sugar as it may be too sour for her taste. My sister reassured her that she wanted it with no sugar, and then the tea-rista in training proceeded to make her drink. The kumquat lemon green tea was tart like my sister preferred, the service was quick, and the staff were very nice. Overall, pleasant experience.
