Japan Village

If you love H-Mart, you will LOVE Japan Village. Japan Village is a specialized Hypermarket in Brooklyn that has a mini food court and super cool market. Let me break this down into a few parts because there's plenty to say about this amazing place. The Sunrise market is small but packed with tons of imported Japanese frozen foods, snacks, fresh produce, candies, dinnerware, teas and even some body/skin care! I included a picture of the items I bought from Sunrise market but by far my most fave snack I purchase was the Meiji black chocolate bar. I read online it is the equivalent to hersheys chocolate in America but it tastes so much better. Richer in taste, good crispy snap and good quality chocolate. I'd go just to buy the chocolate bars honestly. The food court had a few options to choose from such as ramen, onigiri, udon, soba, Japanese street food and sushi. They also have some desserts such as ice cream and traditional Japanese desserts. In my humble opinion the food was okay. We got chicken Katsu curry, gyu don & karaage with fries. The karaage was my favorite. The gyu don was okay but a little fatty and greasy and the chicken katsu was okay also but I've never had it before so I don't have anything to really compare it to. I probably wouldn't eat at the food court again but that's okay because there's more than just food worth visiting! Next place worth visiting is DAISO!! Daiso is an Asian household goods store. It's like homegoods, dollar tree and Michael's on steroids. Everything is so cuteeeeee and adorable!! You could spend some time in there just admiring the cutesy items. Lastly, let's talk about the ambiance. It is so vibey, beautiful and clean. They have multiple seating areas outside and inside to hang meet up with friends or even to relax on your own during sunset. I highly suggest visiting before sunset so you can take in the beautiful views. The decorations add to the atmosphere and it's by the navy ship yard so you also get a view of the water. If you're thinking of visiting Japan Village, do it! It the perfect place to visit with your family, friends, a date or solo. Plenty to do, plenty to see, explore and try new things. 1000 out of 10 recommend.

This place is like a dream come true as someone who loves Japan and trying new dishes and new things. Stumbled on it randomly when looking for lunch in Brooklyn marathon weekend. I chose to eat at Moriya and it did not disappoint with the best "oyako Don" Will gladly come back next time I visit my sister.

Loved our visit to Japan village. Definitely needs a little tlc. But the market is awesome for all your Japanese cooking needs and the food stands choices are amazing too. Definitely recommend you visit.

Came to the food court without any specific restaurant in mind. I walked around and saw so many options like sushi, ramen, onigiri, Japanese curry. I ended up picking Japanese curry which was about $14. It took a while to prepare as they didn't have a specific way to let you know the order was ready. It was crowded inside so I sat outside as it was shaded and there were bathrooms nearby, although the bathrooms were not very clean. We also took the elevator to the second floor to see the anime store which had soooo many things to look through

This place is a one stop hub for all things Japanese. Need to shop for groceries? Head to Sunrise Mart. Looking for household goods or stationery? Daiso's right here. Craving Japanese food? You'll find a variety of vendors offering everything from takoyaki and ramen to kakigori, bento, and sake. In the mood for anime-inspired gifts? Book-Off has you covered. My main reason for coming here is that it's the closest Daiso to me but I always end up staying to grab a bite. Highly recommend trying the yakisoba, takoyaki, and kakigori! Also fun place to take your family as well! If you follow their instagram, they tend to post friends/family fun events.

I came for the delicious food and was enthralled by BOOKOFF Ani-Lab, which had a vast selection of anime figurines, games, and Pokémon cards, among other items. No one harassed you as you browsed. The food stalls at Japan Village offered a wide range of options. I had the shrimp tempura udin noodles and a spicy tuna onigiri, and both were so flavorful I'm craving more. The place was neither too crowded, loud, nor too busy. The supermarket had fresh food. I got a red bean taiyaki, which I enjoyed. If I'm in the area, I would definitely go back to the food stalls. As you walk in, there are other restaurants and a bakery. There was no event scheduled on the day I visited, but you can check their calendar for upcoming events. You should check it out!

I've been wanting to check out Japan Village for years, and just had not gotten the chance to go until now. Upon walking it, it was amazing to see that there was a supermarket as well as a food court of restaurants on the other side. I walked around the supermarket first -- they have a great variety of everything you'd find in an Asian supermarket: drinks, snacks, beauty products, frozen food, sauces, and a beautiful selection of plates! I felt like the layout was well thought out, as even if you decide not to buy anything, the only way to leave the supermarket area is by passing the cashiers. This makes the traffic flow in one direction, which I think is a great idea! I decided to get dinner at one of the restaurants, and got the washugyu don because I wanted to try something other than my usual go to, which is gyudon. I ordered and paid at the counter and it was ready within 10 minutes. There was plenty of seating so I did not have to worry about struggling to find a seat.

Such a beautiful space with so many things to do! Had such a blast while we were there and we would definitely go back again!

My wife and I went here for some food and to take pictures. I got the Black Garlic Tonkotsu Ramen and a Spicy Tuna Mayo Onigiri. The ramen broth was VERY good. The pork and egg went well with the vegetables, I would've preferred larger noodles but that's on me for not checking. The onigiri was good, something I was very much looking forward to, but nothing special. The atmosphere was amazing, a lot of areas to walk around and check out, as well as their unique little grocery store. Service was a little slow, but was not a problem due to the many shops and stores in the Japan Village. Would definitely visit again and bring friends! Also FYI, the shops on the 2nd floor close at 7pm (not 9pm), so we sadly missed that.

A must stop in Greenwood Heights if you love Japanese food! There is a small market and a ton of different stands so you can find sushi, onigiri, ramen, teas, etc. Tons of options for all dietary preferences!

Wish I would have taken more pictures but I was so interested in the Japanese products. The candy , the cleaning products , skin care etc. very interesting. A little pricey my bag of Kit Kats that has 12 inside was 8$ but so worth it it is delicious. Service was good and helpful because something's are not translated on the packages. Even for the kids some cool Pokémon candy and mario playing candy. I wanted eveything inside of here. I will be back must visit. Parking outside you have to pay and hard to find.

Lovely visit to Japan Village. It is part of Industry City, which is a network of buildings housing various shops and restaurants. Japan Village has a Sunrise Market as well as some fresh food options including ramen, sushi, tofu and onigiri. There is limited seating in this fresh food interior area. Shops on the 2nd floor including cosmetics, pottery and an anime shop. There is a center courtyard area with some seating and a small stage. At the time, there was someone performing (singing). Parking available in surrounding lots...particularly, Lot C is reasonably only being $5 on weekends. $15-20 during the week though. Can pre-book and pay for parking via the Laz Parking app.

My son wanted to come here as part of his birthday. There is an easy parking lot in the back of the building that is $20 for the day and if you are only staying 2 hours, Japan Village will validate your parking. The bottom floor is the market and lots of food stalls. We tried a mix if takoyaki, Yakisoba, Japanese omelette, chicken katsu, and three different onigiri. All were tasty. Upstairs is a great 2nd hand book/action figure/anime everything store, a convenience store, claw machines, games, and other shops. It was really great to walk around and explore. It got very busy around lunch time. It was my first time in Industrial City and I'll be coming back to check out the rest of the buildings!

We ordered the crunchy cabbage, marinated cucumber, crispy garlic potatoes, mushroom Tempera, a variety of skewers including the washugyu & shishito and scallop bacon and pumpkin (you can choose fried or grilled, I chose grilled styled) and the champon noodle bowl. The food comes out very fast. The cucumber was alright though I was not a fan of the WakuWaku sauce overly sweet. The cabbage was delicious but lacked flavor. Huge portion though. Then came out the skewers. The pumpkin was cold. I wasn't a fan of the washugyu & shishito one. And the scallop bacon was just eh, didn't really notice the bacon on it. Everything tempera one were my favorite. I loved the potato tempera it was perfectly fried. Esp. with the spicy miso sauce, it was fire, I was dipping everything in it. And the mushroom was even better. Enoki mushroom was delicious. Careful with the chicken karaage it comes out HOT. Massive pieces so good and juicy. Great portion. The noodle bowl is bigger than your head so I advise to only get one if you're sharing portions. I like the flavor of the soup, very soothing. Good collagen boost too! Lots of seafood in it. Perfect soup for a cold rainy day like we experienced. Theres miso cod was good but have had better. Honestly everything was good. I would just not get the cucumber dish and the skewers we ordered next time. They have some also have tatami rooms if you want more of a traditional Japanese style like restaurant. Overall, good experience. I would come back and try the tatami experience just with avoid a few dishes.

The food is good, above average and notable for the range they offer more than anything. The speciality here is the skewers, which range from organ meat to basic white meat. But they're always perfectly cooked and really satisfying, especially if you go in a small group. I'm also a huge fan of their nabeyaki udon noodle soup. The broth is SO. GOOD. It's above and beyond your basic udon soup, really flavorful and hearty -- I think it's the brown mushrooms. I'm not normally one to rave about udon, but it just really blew me away. All the ingredients are fresh and tasty, really, which also helps.

Good thing we ran into someone who directed us to where the front of the building was. I don't come to this area of Brooklyn often, so I wanted to order everything I was interested in. I like how everything is made fresh, and portion size was good for the price. I got take out and it was a long trek home, so I took a bite out of each item at pick-up so that I could give a fair review.: Chicken Katsu Sando ($9.50) - Fried chicken was moist, white milk bread was fluffy, but I wish there was a little more tonkatsu sauce for each bite. Tamago Sando ($9) - This was my favorite item. I enjoyed the creamy chunks and the whole egg sliced in half. Eggs were not over cooked. Great balance and good flavor. White milk bread was fluffy. Tuna Mayo ($3.50) - The cooked tuna and mayo was flavorful and there is a decent amount of filling inside, but I still have my other go to place for onigiris. You have to eat this one quickly because the nori will lose the crunch since it's directly touching the rice. Eel avocado roll ($7) - I enjoyed their BBQ eel sauce, but the portion size of the eel was significantly smaller than that of the other 2 rolls. Spicy Tuna Roll ($7) - Spicy tuna was fresh and flavorful. I preferred this over the salmon avocado roll. Salmon Avocado Roll ($7) - Salmon was fresh and portion was good, but the salmon did lack the slight sweetness I enjoy from high quality raw salmon. The sushi rice for all 2 rolls was nicely made as well. There was not too much vinegar, so it did not mask the natural taste of the fish. Complemented well.
