From the start, the menu felt a little overwhelming, but I actually liked how much variety there was. They've got your everyday sashimi, sushi, rolls, and some specials, plus plenty of hot food like bento boxes, noodles and rice dishes. There are even party trays if you're grabbing food for an event. With so many options, there's something for everyone in your group. The fish was fresh overall, though it leaned more mild than that buttery, sweet richness you get from higher grade cuts. The salmon belly was good but not as rich or melty as I hoped. The toro was nicely torched with that perfect buttery flavor. They also had Santa Barbara uni that night, which was solid, just not the most sweet batch I've had. They were already sold out of their Hokkaido uni that evening. We also tried the monkfish liver appetizer, it was mild and clean tasting, though I wished it had more of that rich, creamy depth you sometimes get from good quality ankimo. It came plain, but once I asked for a little ponzu, it helped balance the flavor. The space itself is clean and very bright, with an open layout where you can easily hear other tables, lively but not too loud. Service was friendly and polite, though a bit on the inexperienced side. Everyone was kind and tried their best, just small moments where communication or timing could be smoother. Parking in the area can be tricky depending on the time, but there are plenty of meters and street parking within walking distance.

Their sushi is decent and some of the entrees are good like their egg drop beef chow fun. They allow you to BYOB and if you ask for an ice bucket, they can provide that for you too. Ambiance is nice. For appetizer we got the rock n appetizer which was good. Then for entrees we ordered: the dancing eel roll and hubby got the California dinner. His came with soup and I got the salad. I love their salad because of the sauce. I ate some pieces of my husband's roll and they were good. Dancing eel roll was good but a bit sweet and I didn't like it too much. I used to order that a lot before my pregnancy and now I didn't care for it. I also got the green tea tempura ice cream. It was good, but next time I'll should ask them to hold the whipped cream. It made it too sweet and I couldn't taste the green tea ice cream much. Next time, I'll try other rolls or the unagi don which is good too.

I got the salmon lunch bento. It came with a California roll, two shu mais, half an orange, salad/miso soup, rice, and the salmon. It's the typical stuff that comes with a bento but the orange was a surprise. It was even cut nicely to make it convenient to eat! I've been a little worried about the sodium level when I eat out cause everything just tastes so salty these days, but the food here was nicely seasoned and well balanced. I would try to make an effort to eat here more often!

Service is very attentive and they do tell you full on detail about each dish that they serve. Ambiance- very vibey and has a different feel from most of the other manhattan omakase restaurants. And the bathrooms are probably the nicest bathrooms I've ever seen in NYC as they have a Japanese toilet with a motion sensor lid. The service was very attentive and lovely. I'm a bit short (5'3) so my legs usually just barely touch the bars in a stool / bar seating and when the server (who I believe is also the owner) noticed he brought a shelf essentially that would allow me to rest my feet easier. I've never seen that before and it was so kind and appreciated. They do not have a wine menu which is what I normally order but they do have an extensive sake menu so I decided to give it a try and they have a helpful guide which shows like which sakes are sweet or sour etc. I picked a sweet one which was delicious. When they served it, they let us pick cups based on our Chinese zodiac so we got the monkey and the sheep based on our birth years. So unique and special. And of course the food was delicious! the first half were very unique dishes, plated beautifully and the second half was traditional nigiri. When the chef noticed my strong reaction to the amount of wasabi on the first nigiri, he was kind enough to adjust the amount of wasabi for me moving forward without me even having to ask. All in all it was an incredible night especially not having to go into Manhattan. I look forward to coming back!!

It was a quiet Sunday afternoon for lunch. Decided on a sushi for appetizer and a rice don bowl for meal. Lunch special had any 2 rolls for $8.95 and they have a spicy scallops roll. It turn out to be a California roll with chopped spicy scallops on top. If I knew, I would not have gotten it as I imagine a spicy tuna roll but with scallops. I don't normally get California roll (not basic) because I also don't know what imitatation crab Kani stick product they are using as I have a crustacean allergy. Some Kani stick is purely fish and some have crab extract in it which I can't have. I wish there menu had more details/informations but most sushi places don't list what is in the rolls and expect you to know it or Google it. But for people with allergies (yes, I know, why eat sushi if I have a crustacean allergy but there are other options for me), we would love to know what is in the dish. Ordered: 2 rolls for $8.95: eel avocado & spicy scallop rolls and a Salmon Eel Don. Lots of rice for don and good portion fish. Zoomed in photo of the spicy scallop sushi showed it was California roll with the chopped spicy scallops on top. Overall, enjoyed my lunch. Would definitely come back to try other dons and noodles.
