A decent sushi choice for the area! My family ordered takeout sushi to celebrate a birthday. It was such a nice treat! I love how the menu is divided to let you know what which ones are raw and which ones are cooked, it's very helpful especially if someone cannot eat raw. They also have Party Trays but we prefer to pick out our own rolls. We ordered a bunch of different rolls such as Salmon Avocado, Yellowtail Scallion, Dragon Roll, White Fish Tempura, Sweet Potato, Shrimp Tempura, Samurai, Spicy Tuna, and Spicy Kani Rolls. I love this place! It's not exactly a hidden gem as it's always busy when I come to order food, but I am glad I found it nearby one of my clients! The staff inside are friendly and pretty much know my order. The lunch specials are good and I usually go with the 3 rolls, but on occasion do some handrolls too (which are delicious)! The spicy kani roll is exactly how I would make it and literally at every other place I have ever been, getting it this way would be extra. They make it with panko crunch, masago mixed in, and the spicy mayo - omgosh it's so good. Their lobster salad is also so delicious. The lunch special comes with a soup and it's always super hot and fresh because they make it in the back for individual orders. I am no longer working with that specific client, but I will come 20-30 minutes out of my way to get some of this when I can! read more

This Japanese sushi eatery spot just opened and celebrated their Grand Opening yesterday! I ordered their Grass Jelly dessert with red beans, sago, and mangos as well as their Eel Rice Bowl. The drink was complimentary, most likely because of the Grand Opening. I'm so glad I chose this spot for lunch because it was both affordable and delicious! Eel rice bowls for under $15 are generally nearly impossible to find in NYC now and with good quality fish and an ample amount. The grass jelly was also really good and honestly, I could split it for 2 meals. I ended up coming back for a second time because I wanted to try the sushi since they were so affordable and also to see if they were fresh. I'm glad to say that they were. It's pretty rare to find such cheap sushi in NYC. A la carte were mostly around $1.5, with the most expensive at $2 for the scallop and uni. Even their rolls and chirashi were cheap! $4 rolls and $12 bowls are such a steal. I'm glad they don't skip on quality and quantity either. I decided to try 7 sushi's- lobster salad, scallop, uni, mackerel, seared salmon and yellowtail. I usually don't have high expectations for uni unless I eat it at omakase, because usually the cheap uni is not fresh. However, here it was pretty tasty and not sour at all. It was sliced a bit thinner, but uni gets expensive so I thought the portion was fair for only $2. The Inari wasn't filled enough like a regular Inari and there were some unfamiliar crunchy toppings that I think didn't really need to be there. The other pieces were pretty tasty as well. The slices were generous and clean and the rice to fish ratio was appropriate. Only 2 small things I would change is to include a little plate or container to put soy sauce in as usually you dip your sushi in soy sauce instead of dressing it in soy sauce. Secondly, I was a bit confused on why there were lemon slices included as it's not usually paired with sushi. Even if it is for decoration, I think it's not necessary. The staff does not really speak English so please be patient and give them grace. The menu is in both English and Chinese so you can point to the item you want too! Something else to keep in mind is that they do not take credit cards (yet) since they just opened. One thing I think that could help them would be to add their restaurant name, address and contact information on the menu. Currently the menu is only the food and drink items but it's hard to know where it's from. This is just my first impression and I'm already quite satisfied. I can easily find myself coming back often when I crave sushi! read more

Saw this as a grand opening and I think what appears to be the owner beckoned people to come in and try their food, so I did. I usually never eat cheap sushi ever since I've had omakase here and sushi in Japan but was missing the cheap sushi so I decided to give it a whirl. The shop is very simple and plain, with friendly staff. The food is extremely cheap, I don't think I've seen a salmon piece anywhere for less than $3.50 each but here it was, $1.50 a piece. I decided to get 8 pieces as a post gym meal. I got 4 seared salmon, 2 salmon, 2 tuna. The total was $13.06 after tax. I took it back and gave it a try. My expectations were extremely low as I thought "how good can something this cheap taste?" The answer is actually pretty good. The fish was pretty fish and the seared salmon was my favorite. 8 pieces was decently filling but at that price, I will definitely opt for 10-12 pieces my next go. Let's be real, this isn't going to replace your omakase experiences at the end of the day. It's just meant to be a quick and cheap meal. You get what you pay for, but the sushi does punch above its price point and I encourage you to at least try it. read more

I don't eat raw fish so can't comment on that but their non-raw sushi was pretty good. We got shrimp tempura, California, spicy crab, and eel avocado rolls. There was a good amount of ingredients inside the roll and they were fresh. Only thing was the rolls fell apart easily when picking up.
