It was a weird dinner experience. The order of food from kitchen to table were unorganized. We ordered a mixture of appetizers, sashimi, and entrees. 2 out of 4 apps came out first, Sashimi came out second, Then 1 out of 8 entrees... 3rd app... There was a long wait with the remainder of the meals and finally the last app was served while the most of us already ate. Though we ate at different waves, we all agree that we may come back for their fresh sushi/sashimi. Ramen and udon flavors were mediocre, and apps would've been great if they came on time. Perhaps, we can seperate in smaller groups next time.

Washoku Kyo is a local gem! My friend & I came for dinner around 6pm and the restaurant was empty, but filled up quickly within 15 mins of us being there. They're also whipping up takeout orders in between so they are BUSY! The restaurant itself is spacious, well lit, and cute. For the price point, the portions & quality are unmatched for the area. I was a bit surprised to see that most of their rice bowls were only about $20-$30 considering how much fish & rice they include. There's an uni bowl for only about $26!! Heaven! I ordered the kyo don for my first time here, since it had a good enough variety of all (salmon, tuna, scallops, shrimp, uni, ikura, torched tuna). They don't skimp on the portions at all. I was extremely full and maybe only 1/4 of the way through my rice. The chicken wings were massive & also really tasty. Also - bevvies are only $2!!! A steal! Parking around here varies. Cash & card are both accepted.

Review is for takeout. I called in an order for pickup. Fortunately I did not have to wait when I arrived. The food was packaged well. The sushi here is some of the freshest in the area. They even had uni which is rare for the neighborhood. Prices are reasonable as quality is high. Will order from here in the future.

3.5/5 The Kaisen Don was smaller than I expected, but it still tasted good. The uni was fresh and sweet, definitely the best part of the meal. The Yellowtail Jalapeño was flavorful and well balanced. The Alaskan roll surprised me. Most places make it with salmon, avocado, and cucumber, but this version included imitation crab meat, which felt out of place. The fried squid was unfortunately too chewy.

I was in the neighborhood and was craving some sushi and was happy I stumbled upon Washoku Kyo. The interior was so cute, but I was in a rush to go so I could not dine in. I quickly placed an order for the Kyo Don which included a nice selection of fish, including toro, ikura, and uni for ~$30. I was really happy with my order and I would definitely come back in the future.

The price is very reasonable and the quality of their food is extremely fresh and delicious! Service was quick both times that I went, once when it was quiet and empty, and the second time when it was jammed pack, which surprised us since we were expecting to wait quite a bit due to how busy they were; this suggests that they have a good system going and it only took 5-10 minutes for us to get all our food despite it being a full house. The shrimp tempura box was such a steal with perfectly cooked and juicy shrimp, and even the popcorn chicken that accompanied the bento was perfectly crisped and seasoned. Their raw selections were delicious and extremely fresh, so I don't think you can go wrong with either cooked or raw selections. Overall we had a great time and will definitely be back for some quick, affordable and delicious Japanese food! Thank you for reading and best of luck! (:

Yea I have no idea why I chose a canto dish at a Japanese restaurant. Maybe I was hungry but it looked super good on the menu and ended up being tasty. Place is cozy and spacious . The sushi was ok, the rice was really cold. I'd come back but not often

Extremely disappointed in the quality of this place. The price is fair for the neighborhood and the service was good. The waitress and waiter kept refilling our tea and checked in on us once. The sushi quality is lacking as one of the rolls - spicy scallop had a very fishy unfresh smell as we eat it. The eel had two bones in there and the rice was a bit too hard. The ramen soup broth was loaded with msg and the udon wasn't fully cooked. The quality needs to improve.

New Japanese restaurant on 18ave Bensonhurst. Pretty busy since it's newly opened I guess. Decor is nice inside. The service was okay; the server did give us a heads up that food might be slow to come out as they were busy and also had quite a bit of takeout orders as well. The food came out sporadically but the wait wasn't as bad as I thought it would be. We ordered the Hokkaido don and Kyo don. The fish was fresh and tasty - uni was pretty good quality. The don was delicious -- I devoured every last bite. We also had the toro sashimi, which was only okay. It wasn't the best cut/quality since it wasn't melt in your mouth buttery. The mackerel bento box and fried shishamo were good. Also had the eel beef don and the katsu oyako don. The katsu oyako don was okay only but the eel beef don was really good. Their portions size are pretty generous. We all ordered drinks -- most drinks were $2. The Thai iced tea for $2 is a steal -- this usually costs $4-6 at most Thai restaurants... although I would say it's not the most authentic so probably why the lower price. Everything we ordered was pretty delicious. The menu had many items I would like to try. Would come back for more sushi and their dons. I would also like to try their ramen next time; it looks good!

The place it big and comfortable. The food came pretty fast. Waiters refilled water. Overall, the fish is really good but the seaweed is not good. The hand roll came first and the seaweed was already soggy. It also gave a fishy smell/taste. Would recommend fish without the seaweed unless they change their seaweed.

Came here for dinner with family, was told it's a 30 min. wait, but turned out to be an hour. Food was OK and definitely not worth a hour of wait time. Don't know what the hype is about this place. A lot of fake reviews saying how big the portion is..it's not true. Place is very unorganize. If you have more than 4 people, don't bother. Their tables are meant for 4 people only, anything more, it'll be a nightmare Also place doesn't seem to be very clean.

The atmosphere and food are both great .My kids love ramen and sushi rolls, while adults enjoy sashimi.

    Tuna lover, yum

Trying the sushi from this place for the first time, look and taste delicious B

The food is good but it is a bit too expensive for some raw items. The bento box is the cheapest one.

Dipping their toes in so many different arenas might actually be their detriment because they're going for everything while not excelling in most. I would rather they cut down on some dishes and make sure all are great instead. I absolutely love their Thai fried chicken, which is so affordable (8 pieces for $12), and tastes so crispy on the outside but so moist and flavorful on the inside. It comes with a tangy fish sauce, but you can add different green curry and/or red curry for 50 cents each. I like it best with the fish sauce. However, that's the Thai fried chicken is the only dish I absolutely love from this place. Everything else is very mediocre, which is unfortunate. 6 rolls bento - $15; comes with california roll, spicy tuna roll, lobster salad roll, salmon avocado roll, eel cucumber roll, shrimp tempura, kani salad, seaweed salad, and fried chicken. It's a lot of food for $15, and the sushi actually tastes decent. The kani salad, seaweed salad, and fried chicken are just tiny portions, but the fried chicken are like nuggets and taste really bad. 4/5 Mushroom noodles - $10; It's so rare to find such affordable e-fu noodles but sadly, it tastes nothing like what e-fu noodles should taste like. I wouldn't even know that they're supposed to be e-fu noodles if I just blindly tasted. I would not get this again here. 3/5 Pad see ew beef - $13; Again, like the mushroom noodles, it didn't taste like pad see ew. It's missing that sweetness and charred factor that's usually present in pad see ew. 3/5 Pad Kra Pao (??) - I can't remember if it's this dish that I got, but it was some type of Thai rice dish with a meat sauce. It was so terrible, I only ate 10% of it and didn't take it to go. 1/5 Pad thai - I didn't try it but my friend got it and the color looked really off. Aside from the food, there are other improvements to be made here. It seems like a family-run restaurant, with only two workers facing the customers. It's really hard to get their attention when the restaurant is busy. The space is very tight and looks like it could be more well-maintained. They also need more menus. Hard to share just one with the whole table.

Came on a Saturday afternoon…read more Love the decor and the katana sword when you first walk in. We got seated immediately. We ordered the crunchy cabbage, marinated cucumber, crispy garlic potatoes, mushroom Tempera, a variety of skewers including the washugyu & shishito and scallop bacon and pumpkin (you can choose fried or grilled, I chose grilled styled) and the champon noodle bowl. The food comes out very fast. The cucumber was alright though I was not a fan of the WakuWaku sauce overly sweet. The cabbage was delicious but lacked flavor. Huge portion though. Then came out the skewers. The pumpkin was cold. I wasn't a fan of the washugyu & shishito one. And the scallop bacon was just eh, didn't really notice the bacon on it. Everything tempera one were my favorite. I loved the potato tempera it was perfectly fried. Esp. with the spicy miso sauce, it was fire, I was dipping everything in it. And the mushroom was even better. Enoki mushroom was delicious. Careful with the chicken karaage it comes out HOT. Massive pieces so good and juicy. Great portion. The noodle bowl is bigger than your head so I advise to only get one if you're sharing portions. I like the flavor of the soup, very soothing. Good collagen boost too! Lots of seafood in it. Perfect soup for a cold rainy day like we experienced. Theres miso cod was good but have had better. Honestly everything was good. I would just not get the cucumber dish and the skewers we ordered next time. They have some also have tatami rooms if you want more of a traditional Japanese style like restaurant. Overall, good experience. I would come back and try the tatami experience just with avoid a few dishes.

The food is good, above average and notable for the range they offer more than anything. The speciality here is the skewers, which range from organ meat to basic white meat. It's above and beyond your basic udon soup, really flavorful and hearty -- I think it's the brown mushrooms. I'm not normally one to rave about udon, but it just really blew me away. All the ingredients are fresh and tasty, really, which also helps.
