Crispy Rice (3)
Rilie F.

The best crispy rice spicy tuna and shrimp tempura rolls. The crunch in both cannot be beat!!

Pretty solid take out sushi place in park slope. They have a good lunch menu that's pretty affordable. I got the lunch set for $25 which comes with nigiri and a roll of your choice. The restaurant inside was pretty and modern when I went to go pick up my order. They were quick to prepare my order and I was pretty much in and out. I had two pieces that were a bit more fishy than usual but nothing enough to deter me from coming back again when back in the area!

Mikado has a solid happy hour menu with $6 rolls (4 pieces each). It's from 3:30-6:30. There are drink options as well. The cucumber salad was surprisingly really good. The sushi tacos were bite size, served with 3 for $5. Definitely save this spot for your next happy hour!

Unfortunately I do not remember Mikado being as good as it was before. The crispy rice was a bit disappointing - it was not crispy but just super hard on the outside all around. The sushi was alright but did not taste as fresh as before. Hopefully it was just a one off incident

Really nice space, they do a lot with what they're given and the waiters were nice. We kinda hung out a bit and I think they're used to turning the tables relatively quickly but they let us hang as we ordered more stuff and never really rushed us. The rolls themselves are massive, much more actual fish than the average spot. I'm a sucker for toro (said everybody ever) and it was very tasty. Also really enjoyed the eel.

Absolutely delicious sushi. I've been to other mikado branches and only recently found out they opened one in park slope. This has to be my favorite one so far. The packaging is beautiful and they are always so generous with their fillings. So far, I have tried their sushi lunch special as well as the four roll making lunch special. The lunch special is quite value especially for the amount of fish they give. While there's only four pieces per roll, the pieces are huge and generous with fish. It's about quality not quantity! My most recent order of lunch special (added extra for the toro and scallop). They're both delicious but the scallop with the yuzu on top is my absolutely favorite. It also came in the cutest pink box for Valentine's Day I'm assuming. It's so cute, I was so delighted to see the pink box. My favorite place to satisfy a sushi craving with affordable, high quality fish.

Lunch special 4 rolls but only 4 pieces each - disappointed

Lightening fast delivery for pricey lunch special - 4 roll Maki Lunch Set costs 21$ plus service 4$ fee. The delivery deserves five stars, the sushi is three and a half: California roll : Very fresh and classically prepared. Excellent. Spicy Yellowtail roll : Smaller than expected and lots of crunchy fried filler - 3 stars Yellowtail jalapeño roll : Good, fish fresh Salmon avocado roll: Salmon texture was mushy or recently defrosted. 3 stars. The packaging is beautiful. Each roll has 4 pieces - not 6. Will be skipping the lunch special and order individual items off the menu next time. Most of the other sushi places include a soup or salad with lunch deals.

Stopped in last week to take advantage of the $6 happy hour deal for maki rolls - they are so fresh and delicious! Even though it's only 4 pcs per roll, they stuff the fish in with minimal rice and that's just the ideal proportion in my opinion! The first time I visited was in early Nov during their grand opening weekend. I remember the abalone noodles being a standout and a unique menu item!

Decided to order lunch from here because they have lunch special. Ordered the 4 roll maki set. I picked tuna avocado, salmon avocado and eel avocado. You can choose between salad or miso soup, I choose miso soup. The sushis have chunky fish and avocado! So yummy! Interior is elegant. Staff is friendly!

In this vain world, presentation is everything, and Mikado figured that out and made everything Instagram beautiful both in the restaurant and take out. And it works on me. I think the simple yet pretty packaging is so effective it actually makes the food seem more delicious. Check out the crispy rice in the photo . Also can we talk about crispy rice for a minute? Back in the day it used to be something you only find in high end restaurants. Well I'm thrilled to see it trickle down to the sushi joints in Park Slope. I have yet to have a bad crispy rice experience. Anyway, I intend to keep going to Mikado to get my slightly more expensive but always fresh and beautiful sushi variations.

Great takeout spot! Food was ready in under 15 min and packaged very nicely. We loved the fish to rice ratio and the taste was very fresh. They also gave us a little salmon appetizer! Perfect sushi picnic

Extremely long wait time for takeout orders even if you place the order in advance. Food is not bad, I've had their sushi rolls and the unagi donburi. I was not a fan of their sushi rolls as they were only 4pcs per order and cut very thick. However, the eel donburi was delicious and very filling.

Very good sushi! High quality fish, better than most sushi spots I've tried. I got take out and it came in a fun little box with a tray for soy sauce. The nigiri was great, and each piece had a nice little topping (jalapeño, mushroom, etc) that added flavor. My only hold up with this place is that it's on the pricier side, so won't be a go to for takeout sushi, but more of a treat every once in a while. But delicious nonetheless!

Since I was not planning to indulge too much, I opted to sip on a cider. It was my second time here, the first time being on a Sunday when there was a DJ, and that was a great time too. BierWax may just become my new watering hole.

BierWax is a craft beer and vinyl record listening bar that opened in Brooklyn, New York in 2017…read more It was founded by DJ and record collector Chris Maestro. Born in Queens to a Guyanese father and a Dominican mother, Maestro grew up in Flushing, Queens with a fervent love for hip-hop. He started DJing in his early 20s and has collected records obsessively ever since, particularly in genres that gave rise to hip-hop: funk, soul and jazz. He was bitten by the craft beer bug during a trip to Hong Kong in 2005, and his search for new brews led him to craft beer festivals and brewery tours. Early on, Maestro noticed that there weren't a lot of people of color at craft breweries or craft beer bars. He longed to open his own space where people like him could feel right at home and discover new beer in the process. In addition to BierWax's finely curated tap list, the bar is also home to over 5,000 vinyl records. The bar frequently hosts guest DJs as well. BierWax has a strict "No Requests Please" policy--not because of "High Fidelity"-style snobbery, but because there are just too many records to manage. If every customer made a request, the bar would need a dedicated team just to comb through the stacks. And then who would pour the beer? I visited BierWax this past summer while I was cycling around NYC. I was trying out a number of Brooklyn and Queens breweries and pizzerias and this was my second stop of the day. Craft beer and vinyl are two of my favorite loves, so I felt right at home here. Not only was I impressed by the craft beer selection but also the enormous amount of vinyl records adorning the shelves on the wall. There was a great playlist going during my visit and the bartender on duty was a really cool guy who engaged in some great conversation with me. I enjoyed pours of The Seed's "As Simple As Renewal?" (Kellerbier) and The Drowned Lands' "Summer Terra" (Double New England IPA). Both of them were fantastic! Although craft beer bars that feature vinyl are becoming more common now, BierWax is a place that is truly special. I highly recommend this bar to craft beer and/or vinyl aficionados and I really hope to return!

Overall rating: 4.8…read more Super cute spot near the Brooklyn museum. I already knew it was going to be a great place just by the other reviews, but I wasn't sure if it was going to be snooty or anything. Super chill, but very popular! My friend and I got lucky and got seats at the bar, but I could totally come here solo which is why I like it a lot! Beer is crafted and good. It's a tad bit bright but looks like people come to work, read a book or hang. The staff was really nice and I like how simple the menu is. I don't think I'd eat any snacks here, but I can try it out when I come back. Such a good find & highly reco!

Within 5 minutes, one of the employees comes outside to ask if I want to buy a drink. However, I'm almost finished with my lunch and answer no thanks, only for the employee to say in a huff, "Well, next time you should buy something if you want to use our seating." While I understand that as your business, you have the right to do this, it really just comes off as rude and condescending, turning what would've been a nonexistent interaction into a negative one that has completely soured my attitude toward this establishment. Considering that this establishment had roughly a dozen tables and 24 seats with only 4 seats or so occupied when I was around and I wasn't interfering with business on a slow afternoon, there shouldn't have been a problem with simply letting bygones be bygones. If this is what New Yorkers consider hospitality and acceptable behavior, no wonder people from most other states consider the population to be rude.
