Whenever sushi is suggested, Ki is my go-to suggestion in Brooklyn. I've tried a number of sushi restaurants throughout the borough and Ki is consistently good. Every friend I've brought has raved out it afterwards. The fish is fresh and of excellent quality. My favorite thing to start with is the salmon tartare. The presentation is cool and it's quite tasty. The caviar topping adds a nice pop of salt and texture. They have a great selection of specialty rolls that are good to share. I'm a big fan of the Fashion Roll (spicy lobster, yellowtail jalapeno topped with yuzu tobiko and fresh scallop) and the Fancy Roll (sea urchin, eel, topped with tuna, avocado, and tobiko). The Fantastic and Dynamite Rolls are also worth a try. I've also enjoyed the sushi and sashimi deluxe as entrees, which are chef's choice. One adventurous day we ordered the Ki omakase and so began my love of uni. Additionally, they boast a nice selection of sake to pair with your sushi. Ki does take reservations, and if you're going on a Friday or Saturday night, calling ahead wouldn't hurt. I just went last week and already I'm looking forward to my next meal here. read more

We didn't have a reservation, but were able to get seated within 20-30 minutes. Speaking of the interior, lighting was dim and design was overall nice and welcoming. I would say the environment is casual, not exactly an over-the-top fancy establishment. The menu was expansive and it felt like you could order everything from the sea. This sushi restaurant is more of a sushi roll place where you can add on whatever nigiri pieces that meet your desire; you can do omakase but you're probably better off going to a fully dedicated omakase spot. I thought all the dishes satisfied my belly and tastebuds. A big plus was that the service was efficient operating throughout the house. Visiting town and stopped by this place 30 minutes before close and was satisfied to get really good deep fried gyoza and sushi omakase. Staff was friendly even though it was so close to closing time and everything was made to perfection. Only problem with this review is missing pics bec the ambiance is dark lit to be more cozy and intimate. Decent menu with a couple of interesting surprises, beer and wine. No cocktails. It's hard to write a review for this place as I don't remember much of it but I guess I'll add mine ass there's 800+ reviews and counting for this popular higher end sushi spot in this area. If you're looking for better quality fish than any of the other spots nearby and don't mind paying a premium, I would recommend this place if you're in the area. For other spots, I would recommend Hibino for the mid-high end and Iron Chef House in Brooklyn Heights for the lower end (yes a place with that name happens to serve surprisingly good sushi which makes no sense to me either.) All other spots aside, the lighting here honestly sucks for photographs and for seeing well anything and that can easily be told from all the photos. The fact that a few other people here when I was here months ago were using their camera lights to be able to view things says a lot. I remember ordering the Omakase which has a choice between sushi, sashimi, and a mix along with a more premium option which features fish brought in from Tsukiji Market in Tokyo. I had the non-premium sushi sashimi mix and I think it was around $70 or something similar and honestly it was worth it. It's not the traditional type of omakase where courses are served separately but rather all the pieces came out at the same time. I think the rice quality suffers partially because they serve all these at once so the rice isn't going to be the perfect temperature or texture. The only other thing that's just OK is the miso soup served beforehand which isn't particularly good for a higher end place but for the quality of the fish, it's hard to beat here. For the price point, the raw fish compares favorably to Hibino though I honestly prefer the non-sushi dishes such as their tonkatsu at that wonderful Japanese owned spot. Mid/low 4 read more

Ki is everything I want in an elevated neighborhood sushi restaurant. Reminds me of a spot I grew up going to with my parents back home. It's dimly lit at night, with comfortably spaced out tables and a sushi bar. On weeknights, you can usually walk in without a reservation, But, weekends are usually pretty booked up. Waitlist is easy though :) The owners clearly take great care in creating a menu with lots of crowd pleasers. So many options and everything is super fresh! My friends who are BK natives shared this spot with me and it basically convinced me to move to Boerum Hill. Eddy is really sweet, but everyone at Ki is awesome. read more

I'm excited to find this Japanese spot in the neighborhood. From the outside, you can easily walk past this spot as the entrance is quite hidden. When you walk in, you're welcome into a dim and romantic room for dining. We arrived at opening and the restaurant filled up in the next half hour. Since we came at 12:30pm, we were able to order from the lunch menu which has various deals. I got the Chirashi Lunch ($23) and the boyfriend got the Chicken Teriyaki Bento ($15). Both dishes included a salad and miso soup, which was great to start with. A lot of people ordered the bento boxes, which is affordable and filling. It has a little bit of everything to complete your meal including a California Roll and gyozas. As for my chirashi bowl, it was perfect. There were 11 various slices of sashimi from tuna to salmon to yellowtail. There was also a couple slices of sweet tamago and pickled radishes to compliment the dish. Everything was so fresh gently placed atop of a banana leaf separating the warm and fresh sushi rice underneath. Even the rice was delicious and I rarely say that! I left with my stomach happily stuffed. This is such a great spot for a date night or for a good lunch special. I'll have to come back to try their omakase too. Not exactly a spot I would go to New York, but one of friend's friends booked a reservation for their dinner and invited us along. Decided to go with the sushi omakase and the Ki Roll because I was in the mood from some nigiri and a roll. The omakase had a good variety of fish, all were super fresh and very tasty. Really liked the presentation as well. Ki Roll also hit the spot with the mix of tuna, salmon, and yellowtail. Service was fine, no complaints from me on this. I can see why Ki Sushi is so popular. Great for special occasions, for date nights (nicely dimly lit inside), or for a random week night when you don't feel like cooking. The prices are right, and the fresh is always always fresh. The servers - hostesses, waiters, chefs - are always so friendly and welcoming. Their omakase is a must-try!!!! I ordered the sushi omakase, spicy tuna crispy rice, and a toro scallion roll. The spicy tuna rice is a generous amount of spicy tuna on thin bed of rice and seaweed deep fried. My friend and I both really enjoyed how crispy and rice and seaweed combo was with the tuna. The sushi omakase comes with 10 pieces of fish that's supposedly flown in from tsukiji market. I thoroughly enjoyed each piece and was surprised at the quality. Definitely worth the price, i think it was around $45-50? The toro scallion roll was listed at market price, the price came out to around the price of the other rolls honestly. We spent around $80 a person. This place was pretty busy for a Thursday afternoon for lunch. The restaurant itself is clean and pretty dark. Service was friendly. My friends and I were craving sushi one night when one of them recommended Ki. We called at around 5 pm on a Friday and were able to get a reservation for four people at 8:15 pm. I believe it's indoor dining and it was pretty full that night, but tables were still properly distanced. We ordered a few apps to start with: Agedashi tofu - pretty solid. It was crispy and piping hot and it came with at least ten pieces Tuna crispy rice - I always love a good tuna crispy rice. This one was unique because it was a crispy thin layer of rice instead of a crispy ball of rice. I really liked it because it meant fewer carbs, meaning not as filling, meaning more room for the main course TNT Truffle (chopped blue fin toro, caviar, scallion, tempura flakes, wrapped with tuna in truffle soy sauce) - this was not bad but I could have done without the tempura flakes rolled into the middle. The truffle taste was very faint and tasted like fruffle (fake truffle) For the mains, we all got the omakase. This included toro, seared toro, seared king salmon, horse mackerel, amber jack, eel, scallop, uni, red snapper, barracuda. My favorites were the toro, seared toro, seared king salmon, and the uni. My friend ordered hers without wasabi and for some reason, her scallop came out as chopped scallop as opposed to whole and she said it was not good - so just a note for those who don't eat wasabi. I don't live in the area and I'm rarely in this neighborhood but if I do come back, I wouldn't mind paying Ki Sushi another visit. read more

It was my first time trying omakase in New York and I was impressed! I was debating between a few places in Manhattan that had mixed reviews, but was lucky to stumble upon this hidden gem in Brooklyn. I ordered the sushi omakase which came with 10 pieces of fish for $48. The server was considerate and asked if there are any seafood that we do not eat. He also provided warm sanitizing wipes for us to wipe our hands. The sushi took about 20 minutes to prepare, but it was well worth the wait. The presentation was beautiful! Each piece of fish was glistening and tasted incredibly fresh! The fatty tuna, smoked tuna, king salmon, eel, and barracuda were my favorites. There were one or two pieces that had too much wasabi or the fish was too firm for my liking, but that's more of a personal preference. Our experience at Ki Sushi last night on Friday was phenomenal. The service was perfect. The wait was not bad since they were busy on a Friday Night, the hostess made sure to take down your name and phone number for the waitlist. It was a 10-15 min wait but you get seated pretty quickly. The hostess noticed we had our large duffle bags so she made sure to seat us in a more spacious seating area. Our server was Shirley and she was super polite, and very transparent about the portion sizes. The other servers offered us hot towel service for our hands which was nice. All servers were very attentive and refilled your water without you having to ask. Which was greatly appreciated because we were drinking Sake as well. The servers made sure not to rush you and gave you the time and space to enjoy your meals. They also asked for permission before clearing your empty plates. I know how exhausting the service industry may be on a busy night, but everyone had the best bedside manners and provided amazing service. My favorite roll that night was the pikachu roll. All of sushi and sashimi (not pictured bc we were so hungry lol) tasted fresh and amazing. The sashimi combination platter was delicious also. We tipped them 25% for the perfect service that night because despite it being a busy night, they serviced everyone with great patience and attention to our comfort and treated us with kindness. Shirley gave us a complimentary mochi ice cream dessert at the end of our meal. We look forward to visiting Ki Sushi Again.
