lunch special with 3 rolls: great meal
    Josh B.

Great lunch spot! Came here on a Monday around noon and was the only one and got a seat right away. Ordered the Lunch Special with 3 rolls, which comes with miso soup and salad. My favorite of the 3 I got was the Shrimp Tempura. The Eel Avocado Cucumber and Spicy Tuna were both great as well. Great meal, very filling. Definitely worth the visit!

The sushi here is amazing! It's a no frills spot near the Barclays Center. The inside seemed cozy, but I got takeout. I was able to get 3 rolls for around $16 during their lunch special. The set came with a salad as well. I got the white tuna avocado roll, spicy salmon roll, and tuna roll. They were all delicious and very fresh. Each roll came with 6 pieces each, and there was a good ratio of fish to rice. The takeout was very fast, I only had to wait around 10 min. The hostess was also very sweet. I had originally planned to get my sushi fix at the poke place next door, but this was much better! I will definitely come back and try their other lunch specials.

Fell pretty flat for me. I got the regular sushi which was 7 pieces of sushi and the fish just wasn't great. The salmon was good but the rest did not taste fresh at all, especially the tuna. The California roll was not very good either - it was too much avocado and little of anything else. The service was okay, not outstanding but not bad. I usually love most sushi places but this one just didn't do it for me.

Honestly, some of the cutest sushi in Brooklyn, if you're for good quality sushi that is on the cheaper side I highly recommend, And it's great for kids! I got the sushi bot and shared it and it was so good and I would get it again! 10/10!!

The love boat sushi for two is HUGE. It's enough for about three people. Even though we couldn't finish, I was really happy with the quality of the sushi! All the cuts of sashimi were fresh too. I do think that air conditioning is problematic in the summer, but my overall experience eating here was wonderful.

After reading mixed reviews about Koto, I am ready to be the tiebreaker. Koto is among the plethora of sushi spots clustered in the 7th Avenue area. The sushi is decent and portion of fish and avocado in the rolls is extremely generous. It isn't the best or the most high end sushi in the neighborhood, but as you may tell from its prices, it doesn't claim to be either. It is highly affordable especially for the area and delivers a higher quality than what you would expect from the prices. The crazy dragon special roll was amazing. It is perfect for those who are interested in a salmon base with tuna as the side chick. I wasn't crazy about the gold dragon special roll. It is basically an eel cucumber roll covered in mango slices. The maki combo entree was filling and a great bang for your buck. I'd recommend the salmon avocado, tuna avocado and eel cucumber combo out of the 5 combo options. The service was great. Our server refilled our tea every 10 minutes and was highly attentive. This is the perfect spot for a quick casual sushi dinner.

I never actually dined in but did order takeout on two occasions. They are not cheap with the avocado and usually pack the rolls with avocado if you order an avocado roll. Delivery fee is one dollar + tip. It usually arrives fast and fresh. It's nothing special but good quality sushi.

Pleasantly surprised by this place; Uber eats order & I am not disappointed. It will be my go to place to order sushi from now on. I got the maki combo E which had salmon, tuna and yellow fish . I really love how rich the tuna looks, the wasabi was on point and that soy sauce was very rich in taste and flavor .

Reservations become available 14 days in advance on Resy, so I'd highly recommend booking early to secure a table during normal eating hours. Sadly, since it was just the two of us, we couldn't sample as much of the menu as we wanted. Our server recommended a hot appetizer and a fancier option from their Summer Special menu: KARAAGE - 14 Each order came with five thick pieces of chicken karaage. The chicken arrived hot and juicy, seasoned well enough to be enjoyed on its own or dipped in the side of shichimi mayo. This was a great appetizer to share, and I'd recommend it if you're looking for a reliable classic. TEMAKI SET - 95 Served in roughly an 8"x8" wooden box, this set was lavishly topped toro, Hokkaido uni, ikura, and possibly Iberian ham, with crispt nori sheets on the side to make DIY handrolls. After scooping a bit of everything into a little wrap, I was greeted with the most intense, fresh sea flavors. The toro and Iberian ham were fatty and buttery, blending seamlessly with the velvety smooth uni and the fresh, bursting pops of ikura. I had to pause after every bite just to deeply savor it, and I lost count of how many times I said, "Wow, this is so good." Since I don't live in NYC, I generally avoid repeating restaurants even if I enjoyed them. However, Ozakaya is an exception to this rule -- it's easily one of the best meals I've eaten during all my recent visits. I don't know where they source their seafood, but it's incredibly fresh and packed with umami. Even days after, I'm still thinking about the velvety sweetness of that uni, and I can't wait for my next visit.

The menu is pretty diverse with various appetizers, sushi, and also ramen/curry so your standard izakaya fare. One of my favorite dishes here has been the chirashi. The fish was very fresh and it's pretty affordable. It's been open for a few years, so clearly it has a good enough formula to keep the neighborhood happy. I have been here once before, but returned last week after dining several meals at Tomoni in Jackson Heights. Apparently, the owners are friends. Nonetheless, I needed to make the comparison. After my first few bites of their Tora Don and Chirashi Don, it was clear that this restaurant has the better quality seafood. Each slice of sashimi had vibrant colors, clean taste, and the proper texture. Tomoni is not bad, but fall slightly short of this caliber. With that said, there is an even farther gap between their rice quality. Though Tora is very good, Tomoni produces nearly perfect texture and acidity for my taste buds. Other than the best omakase restaurants in NYC, Tomoni shines as one of the best versions of sushi rice in the five boroughs. Service is good and space is cute. If I have a craving for some decent Japanese food, I would drive 20 minutes here for a meal anytime.

While wandering through Bed-Stuy on a weekday evening, my husband and I decided to try out this new…read moresushi spot. It wasn't terrible--but I had a lot of mixed feelings. Food: 3/5 I'm a huge sushi fan, so I was excited when I saw a deluxe sashimi set on the menu. Unfortunately, it didn't quite hit the mark. The scallop was thinly sliced and lacked the rich texture I was hoping for. The salmon and other cuts were decent, but short and oddly shaped--chunky yet small, which made the whole presentation feel a bit off for something labeled deluxe. We also tried to branch out and ordered the short rib entree. For $21, it was shockingly small--definitely a single-person portion, not sharable. I added extra ikura to a salmon donburi bowl for $2, but it was barely a teaspoon's worth--just enough to say it was there. Oddly, the salmon slices in that bowl were thinner than the sashimi we had just eaten, and overall, it left me still hungry even after sharing a maki roll. Lastly, my husband ordered a green salad, which somehow took the entire meal service to arrive. When it finally came, it was just plain romaine, cucumbers, radish, and dressing. For a dinner that clocked in at over $150 (after tip), we definitely left underwhelmed. Service: 3/5 This part wasn't bad, just confusing. We were seated quickly, but the pacing of the meal was strange. Our seaweed salad and soups came out promptly, but the green salad came last, after the hot dishes and nearly after my husband finished eating. Also, a small thing--but when I'm paying $16 for four oysters, I want to know what kind they are. The menu just said "West Coast oysters," but our server couldn't tell us the variety or origin. Not a huge deal, but it added to a general lack of polish that didn't quite match the pricing. I don't think I'd return. For the price, there are better sushi options in Brooklyn with higher quality, better portions, and clearer service. Still, I appreciate new spots opening up in the neighborhood, and I'm always happy to try something new. Hopefully they refine the menu and service with time.

We started with the salmon belly carpaccio which I'd say isn't really a carpaccio because the salmon isn't sliced as thinly as you'd expect. But! I mention that just to set expectations. Nomenclature aside, it's an excellent appetizer. Served in a truffle and ponzu sauce, the salmon is lightly seared which yields two different textures to the fish. It practically melts in your mouth. Highly recommend this dish. For my entree I went with the trio don, which is 6 pieces of sashimi served over your choice of plain or sushi rice (sushi rice for me). The fish was fresh and flavorful. The portion was perfect for me. My boyfriend ordered a yellowtail roll and enjoyed that as well. We also shared a carafe of the cold house sake. I'd definitely come back and try more items on the menu. It's great for sharing and trying new dishes. The staff was friendly and attentive, and the prices were very reasonable.
