Great vibes, amazing sushi, friendly service, and a strong happy hour. What more can you ask for? We loved the spicy yuzu drink from their happy hour! The sushi was fresh and very flavorful. The bites on their happy hour menu were also delicious and filling. I loved the spicy skewers and the pork dumplings. Great spot to have in brooklyn!

    OMAKASE

Beautiful, minimalist environment. Though it was so minimalist and quiet it was almost a litttle awkward. Omakase was delicious but not traditional in the sense that each piece of sushi was given to us all at once. I didn't love that and don't get why they couldn't just present each piece one at a time as it was prepared - we were sitting at the chef's bar anyway. The place was pretty empty when we went. The fire roll and happy salmon roll were my favorites.

Came here tonight to celebrate a friends birthday and between 4 people- this was the perfect amount of food! Interior is simple, classy and clean. They have seating for 4-6 people groups and or if you come in pairs or alone. I got a peach sour to start the night and I recommend coming during happy hour for a cheaper price! I will say that the price for their omakase was definitely easier on the wallet, but still pricey if you're watching your budget and could make do without an omakase experience. But tonight was a celebration and so we all got the Omakase and tonight's selections included quality pieces of Madai, Kanpachi, Akame, Shima Aji, Hotate, Fluke, Hamachi, Sake, King salmon, Toro, Uni and A5 wagyu as our last piece! Starting from top left-right, every piece was like a crescendo that led up to the A5 Wagyu with truffle and it was amazing! My personal favorites were the Kanpachi, king Salmon, Sake and Wagyu because they melt in your mouth and each fish was so clean and simple! *Every piece had a decent amount of wasabi beneath the fish and if you're not a big fan of it, I would suggest you make a note to your hostess!! After the omakase, it was hard to top that, but the signature set looked too good to not get! I was not wrong because it was a great end to the night! The filling for each roll were similar and the main difference was the toppings and fish, otherwise- you can expect avocado, cucumbers and mango! Overall, it is a great experience if you've never had omakase and feel too intimidated to sit at a bar countertop by yourself or by the price tag usually associated with omakases!

Came here with a friend for some sushi. The waitress was super nice . We shared a few rolls and nigiri. I can't remember the names unfortunately and I forgot to take the pictures of them. But everything was very fresh and flavorful. The picture is of the happy hr potato appetizer which was very well seasoned and delicious. We ended the meal with a nice cup of hot tea. Maybe next time we will try the omakase

I came here for lunch on a chilly Friday. The restaurant is very open, airy and sparse. The staff were nice and welcoming. The lunch menu was very affordable, IMO. I had the salmon teriyaki which came with rice and picked veggies and roasted shishito peppers. Next time, I would try the omakase lunch special ($45).

This is a fantastic sushi place that's very well priced! Genuinely one of my favorites of all time. All of the signature rolls are very unique and have amazing flavors. The tempura is also well done- not too heavy. The staff were all friendly and attentive, and our dinner was pretty quick. Plus, it's cute inside!

Great food and service! Feels a bit like a museum with the high ceilings. Lunch specials were amazing and a reasonable price.

Expensive for what it is. We had a reservation for the omakase at the bar. We were pretty upset when we found out that they don't offer the typical omakase experience and they just hand all the pieces to you on a plate now. That should have been disclosed on the reservation. Aside from that, each piece tasted mediocre and lacked flavor. The set A rolls were also not that great and tasted like cucumber/avocado rolls in disguise. The whole experience was expensive for what it was and was not worth it in my opinion. For the price, we could've gotten a true omakase experience somewhere else with fresher/better tasting food. The lighting in the restaurant was also extremely bright with no ambiance feel at all.

When you walk up to Oita, you will be greeted by a lovely stone arch entrance, well decorated, kitschy yet adorable. Soft fluorescent lights and light hardwood creates a calming atmosphere in which you will enjoy some of the best sushi the entire city has to offer. If you're considering this for date night, it's yes. Beware that Oita does add a little wasabi to many of their à la carte options. If you don't like spice, let them know and they will accommodate. Lastly, I want to shout out the staff for being extra nice and knowledgeable about what was being served for omakase and à la carte. These guys deserve high tips.

The service was great and our waiters were really nice about letting us try different sakes before committing to one. One of our party members was running a little late but they still let us sit and order, but even waited to start serving so we would get our food at the same time. Really intimate space with slight hint of minimalism combined with playfulness in the decor. We got the omakase and it was really great! The fish tasted really fresh and had so such refreshing/uplifting flavors. A nice addition to the park slope neighborhood.

Came here on a lunch date with my friends and we all got the Omakase + extra goods! Love the decor, white, sleek, minimal and open. Attentive wait staff, not hovering, but knows when you need extra refill, clearing small plates for new ones. Will this be your best omakase? No. The experience was nice, some pieces are better than others... I like my uni more sweet and wish the toro was on the fattier side... my friends enjoyed the entire omakase offering. We also loved the spicy tuna on crispy rice & shishito peppers! Nice date spot and friends gathering.

Full omakase began with this appetizer trio!

Oita opened during year 1 of the pandemic, and I'm so happy to have a fantastic sushi spot close to me. It's my special occasion spot... although it doesn't need to be, it's just I would spend all my $$$ here. I've gotten takeout for NYE and recently did the 16-course omakase experience on a Thursday night. We were the only ones partaking in that experience so it felt extra special! The fish is outstanding and compared to Manhattan spots, super affordable. Loved some of the heat added to some of the courses, but it wasn't what my partner was into, so it was really kind the chef was able to flavor them at different spice levels. And to top it all off, because we were there to celebrate a birthday, we got ice cream on the house (scoop each of green tea and brown sugar... both so good and great together)! Love the ambiance, and all the decor is minimalist yet tasteful.

Sushi and ramen were excellent. Service was good, not great. Atmosphere was pleasant and spacious. Bathrooms were clean. Would eat here again. Very good udon and soba ramen.

Both dishes came out hot and fresh. The pineapple fried rice was a big serving and it was very good! The pad Thai serving was more on the smaller side. Anyway, I was at this pretty long running Thai restaurant a while ago with two others for an early dinner. We sat outside as the weather was very nice and the inside was a bit too cold for one of the other people which was fine as they have a very nice outdoor space. As it was early, they still had happy hour and I ordered a Lychee Mojito which I think it was $8 or $9 instead of $12 or $14 or so. I don't mind at all that it was a tad boozy and there were a handful of lychees in there. This was nice. Speaking of nice, the best thing here were the appetizers. We had some type of fried dumpling to begin with though I'm honestly not sure which one as none of them really match the description and we definitely did not have the Andaman one as it contains pork and one of the other people doesn't eat it. Whatever it was, the dumpling was actually excellent being very well fried but not oily with a nice tasty center that had some basil or some other type of herb for an extra bonus. The dish had a slightly sour sweet sauce below which was fine of course. Whatever dish whatever it was, I would recommend it. There was also the pretty tasty Isan Papaya Salad (or rather Somtum for $13.95) consisting of green papaya, string bean, peanut, cherry tomatoes, and a cherry lime dressing. There was plenty of papaya for crunch and there was a bit of heat to it though less some than many other places. It tasted fresh overall with the lettuce absorbing a lot of the extra sauce. It is good but it's hard to order it here when it's literally a block away from one of the best papaya salads in the city at Zabb PuTawn's BK location. My main dish was pretty regrettably the Pad Kra Prow listed as your choice of meat stir fried with onion, garlic, bell pepper and basil in spicy basil sauce. I chose chicken (or in other words pad krapow gai) which was one of the cheap options at $18.95 and ordered it spicy and the dish arrived and tasted very differently than what I expected and not in a good way. Usually, chicken or whatever meat it is in this dish is chopped into small pieces to absorb the sauce and the dish has good kick to it making it one of my favorite Thai dishes as I like a lot of heat. The meat arrived instead in pieces which is fine as some other spots do this and as there was plenty of them but they were pretty tasteless and lacked texture with some of them being a bit gummy. There was also a brown sauce on the bottom which had a hint of holy basil but not really enough which didn't help the bad chicken. I don't mind Americanized Thai food as long as it tastes good but the main dish was atrocious and there's several places nearby which make versions which can run circles around it. I wouldn't recommend it at all. Outside of that awful dish, I tried the Chicken Pad Kee Mao/drunken noodles which was the same price which was definitely better which didn't really take much. There was plenty of meat again but the wok hei lacked with the noodles but at least it was decently spicy. The last person I believe got a fish which was fine. In a sea of Thai spots littered around Cobble Hill, this definitely falls under the "Could've Been Better" of the bunch though honestly if it wasn't for the dumplings, I might be giving this place a 1. Stick with the appetizers.
