Lovely spot run by this sweet couple who have been running this business for two decades! Gorgeous back patio area. Perfect for a co-working lunch. I even took calls here because the patio was empty on a Monday afternoon other than my friend and I. We experienced such fantastic service, and I felt welcomed as if I was eating lunch at someone's house. The pad see ew was one of the best I've had in a long time. Slight char on the noodle and chinese broccoli makes such a difference. The chive pancakes were divine and I still think about it, and they are vegan. They have an afternoon tea tasting menu that we did not try, but looked beautiful in the plating and details. Don't miss out on this gem.

Located right in Downtown Brooklyn, you will find the only place that serves Thai-style afternoon tea. If you don't consume pork, they will happily accommodate you and provide you with a vegetarian-friendly spread. Immediately upon arrival, I was greeted warmly and there were a few tables open on a busy Saturday afternoon. I decided to order the afternoon tea but found that many items contained pork. However, when I explained to them that I don't eat pork, they gladly, without any hesitation, made accommodations for me. I was happy to receive a spread with gorgeous sweet treats and creatively made veggie items such as a spring rolls and scallion pancakes. The Thai tea was perfect! I also have a dairy intolerance. But I was able to consume the tea because there wasn't any dairy products in it. It wasn't too sweet. But if you know that it has a lot of caffeine then you know it was just right. My visit was timed perfectly and I was able to stay to have dinner. I ordered the beef pad see ew, crab fried rice, basil red snapper, and half duck. I was very pleased with the presentation of every thing. However, I wasn't a big fan of the half duck smothered in the sauce... I felt like the duck was a bit dry and so it wasn't as delightful as I thought it would have been. Oh, and the lychee martini was excellent BTW! Despite the one dish, I really loved this place. I am recommending it to everyone I know.

I came here for the afternoon tea but I do not recommend! I think it was a 3/5 but I really liked the service so bumping it to 4/5 Food: we came here for afternoon tea which after tax and tip comes up to $50 per person! In the tea you get your choice of Thai tea or a tea bag. I got the Thai tea - which was very sweet and was a bit too much with a primarily sweet meal! The way the afternoon tea works is that the chef decides what you get. Most of the items are sweet! My favorite was the chive pancake! Everything else was good but nothing too special. I did love the presentation of everything and was pretty full after (i couldn't finish it)! I think this is decent especially for the price but I think I prefer more tradition afternoon teas Service: great service! Our waitress was very kind and attentive Ambience: the restaurant is very big and nice!

Came on a New Year's Eve and the restaurant was relatively quiet for lunch. There was one server working at that time and I think there were others helping out in the kitchen. Menu was extensive but it wasn't overwhelming really just a front and back page. There were some interesting looking specials that I got which was the Andaman noodles and a curry. We originally ordered the shrimp and pineapple curry but i think the server misheard and brought out a duck and pineapple curry for us instead. They were friendly enough to offer to take it back to the kitchen to correct it for us, however we didn't want to waste any more time so we just took the duck and pineapple curry instead. The noodles were very very flavorful. A lot of seafood in it and just the right amount of spice. The pineapple duck Curry was also pretty good, I kind of wish that the bowl of rice was a little bit bigger since we finished the rice quicker than the curry. When it came to dessert, this was where I was a little disappointed because because there were two desserts that I wanted, however I was told that anything with mango wasn't available and they really only had ice cream left for dessert. Other than that, bathrooms are pretty nice Ambience was pretty nice and there looks like there is a really cute patio in the back for warmer days.

Cafe Chili goes back--kind of way back and it used to be a go to Thai spot for me and my family/friends. Fast forward to present day. The restaurant stands in the same place---inviting and with attractive decor. While I ordered for delivery a few times in the last several years, I recently took the opportunity to dine in. A sign outside noted happy hour food and drinks until 7. The server was courteous to extend the offer even though it was 7:09 when we settled. The air temperature was cold inside which was uncomfortable considering it was very cold outside. We started with an appetizer known as Pretty Package which were Steamed Chicken and Shrimp dumplings. They were quite good and 5 pieces to an order. For main we chose Chicken with Cashews and Chicken with Ginger (my choice). I asked for less salt since I typically don't like dark brown salty gravy. I ordered a Jasmine tea to accompany my meal. Service was somewhat lackluster which was surprising since there weren't many patrons. Food arrived a short while later. My opinion was satisfactory. It was pretty good and I enjoyed it Overall, Cafe Chili will satisfy your Thai craving but doesn't measure up to other high quality NYC restaurants cited in various articles. In the past, I liked their Pad Thai and some other selections but many dishes include duck and pork which I do not eat. Good to try if in the area and out of ideas where to dine.

Such a unique experience - afternoon tea with a Thai twist at a very good price. The unlimited Thai Ice Tea was delicious and the bites were very interesting - a wide variety of flavors. We sat in the courtyard outside and it was so beautiful, even saw some dogs join in the back. The service was a bit slow, but it allowed us to feel relaxed and we were able to hang out for a while.

Cafe Chili has great Thai Cuisine, and this establishment is located on Court Street in Dowtown Brooklyn. Cafe Chili is close enough to Trader Joe's, Daily Provisions, Lemongrass, Blue Collar Burger, etc. & other shops, is in walking distance from the F & G trains at Bergen Street as well as w/ in enough walking distance from Atlantic Ave & Borough Hall. We came here on X-Mas Eve 2023. It was the only restaurant still open in the area that evening after first going to Brooklyn Farmacy and Soda Fountain to have dessert. Yes, we definitely craved dessert before dinner-lol. Anyway, we stumbled upon Cafe Chili that day, was seated immediately, and the rest is history. Cafe Chili has a good selection of thai / asian-fusion dishes, along w/ cocktails, & other beverages. The Veggie Spring Rolls, Vegetable Dumplings, Chicken Wings, Sauteed Vegetables & Chicken Skewers are delicious. I have been back a number of times for lunch. The weekday Lunch Special is an appetizer & Entree for $11.95. My Lunch Special favorite is the Glass Noodle Soup as an appetizer & then I get the Workingman's Noodles w/ Chicken as the entree. Everything is prepared well, and the Lunch Special is a good price for a nicely-sized dish. Happy Hour is every day from 3pm - 6:30pm and includes $5 beer, $6 wine & $2 off appetizers. Website - cafechiliny.com Instagram - @cafechilibk On the website, there is a "Discounts & Deals" section & one can place orders online to be picked up or delivered. Open Sun. - Thurs. - 11:30am - 10pm & Fri. - Sat. - 11:30am - 10:30 pm. When you check-in on Yelp, you can redeem the offer to receive a free spring roll!

Stumbled across this awesome mom and pop Thai shop that's now one of our favorites in the city. The owners are so kind and welcoming, telling us to take our time. The coconut shrimp was good, but nothing special. The tom kha was delicious and flavorful, we were scraping the bottom of the bowl. The pad Thai was a little sweet for my liking but I asked for fish sauce and that fixed it right up. The andaman soup was a unique dish we've never had before and it was filling, creamy and the seafood was cooked well. Main dish portions were large and we were stuffed! We will 100% come back again

The beef pad see eww was one of the best I've ever had. From the texture of the noodles, to the sauce, to the veggies and beef. It's a must have here! Lunch in Brooklyn during in-between meetings of my professional duties of a Wednesday afternoon…read moresummons Thai cuisine. Pad Kee Mao (aka Drunken Noodles), chicken $15.00 Stir-fried flat rice noodle, bamboo shoots, garlic, basil, fresh chili, onion, carrot, string bean, bell pepper, long hot chili The flat rice noodle quantity was sufficient, but minimal and there were too much onion, insufficient string bean, two paucity pieces of carrot. I dislike bamboo shoot which is not a standard ingredient for this particular entrée. I think the bamboo shoot tainted this entrée. I am a traditionalist conservative which bean sprouts is a good substitute variation for bamboo shoot vegetable including string bean. This entrée is my favorite default and as a caveat, if any Thai restaurant or cafe do not offer on their menu I refuse entry to patronize. This entrée enticed my interest and embedded the lunch meal menu for the reasonable price. I personally despise and do not consume spicy hot foods, but occasionally consume mild or very mild in the smallest measurement of the Scoville scale which I specifically requested, but received medium hot spicy. The waitress forewarned me the intense heat level on the Scoville scale as Thai cultural spicy with two or more bird's eye chilies for a high level of spiciness. The spiciness of chili peppers were, in my opinion, medium spicy. Despite the intense medium heat spiciness, the stir-fried noodles lacked flavor with, tender chicken, minimal vegetables, and Thai basil in a bland taste. I wish I chosen shrimp as the protein. Pad Kee Mao sustained my hunger pangs and ate my fill. When eating Thai intense heat spicy foods, I visualize to think of the TV segment "Niall Horan & James Corden Take On Hot Wings" on "The Late Late Show with James Corden" in March, 2020. High heat spicy foods! Thai ice tea, large $3.00 This was a delight and neutralized the heat spiciness because it contains milk. It was served chilled in a large highball glass. Samyan is a Thai cafe located in Clinton Hill, Brooklyn, NYC and accessible via MTA NYC Transit C local train at Clinton-Washington subway station. This cafe is a independently owned and operated, thankfully. The waitress did check-in with me during my meal for attentive customer service. The atmospheric conditions were a simple small dine-in cafe. There were many paintings, portraits hanging on their walls of white subway tiles. Gold metallic metal chopsticks and fork are provided. If utensils are gold then the interior cafe should contain these "gaudy" feature extensive gold elements, including gilded moldings and furniture. Peony rose are very simply and made pretty table centerpiece decorations. Takeout menu and business cards are available for grabs. I did received my sales receipt. At the bottom of the sales receipt there is a suggested gratuity in intervals of 18%, 20% and 22% where customers do not have to perform math calculation. I paid $23.00 in cash as the waitress' informative knowledge of the ingredients and preparation of the heat level on the Scoville scale.

Call it suffering for beauty, in a culinary wrapper. Ugly Baby took this S&M theater to its logical conclusion in all regards: tuck it in an inaccessible corner of South Brooklyn; use tiny chairs and brusquely inform diners they have an hour start to finish at their table. The more inconvenient it was, the better. I held my applause after my single visit to Ugly Baby, which closed amidst wails and lamentation last year from people who liked rough treatment. But something drew me back to this reincarnation, started by the same people. Maybe, I thought, they'd found a way to bring us that magnetic authenticity, and hold the ball gags and chain flails? The answer is no. I should have known from the name alone: another mysterious two-word phrase (both of whose words again end in -y) that sounds like it could be an overly literal translation of some ineffable Thai concept. I should have known when it opened in the same godforsaken corner of ... what is that? Gowanus? I should have known from the protracted negotiations for a suitable table that followed when my husband, mom and I arrived punctually for our 5:30 reservation and were primly informed we'd be squeezing onto a two top, then were refused an obviously empty three-top ("it's reserved"....oh you mean by a party of three with a reservation like us?), and then grudgingly seated at a four-top, half of which was literally in the kitchen. I should have known after being apprised that "you have one hour at the table." I should have known when there were no appetizers or desserts, and only two vegetarian entrees. This is the same thing as before. We're so back, baby. The mushroom curry, with its single fire emoj, was nowhere near the spiciest thing on the menu, but gosh was it still spicy. How do they make food with such complex flavors that's still hot enough to have emanated from the bowels of hell? It has to be one of the best curries I've had. It's a talent, special even, but it could easily coexist without Hungry Thirsty's other downsides. But I think all those inconveniences and discomforts are the point. They serve to reinforce the specialness of the special parts, counterintuitively increasing your mental investment in internally extolling Hungry Thirsty's virtues. They are to each element what spice is to food: it hurts, and you're proud that it hurts. It all adds up to the second coming of Ugly Baby, and why wouldn't it? Enough people liked being slapped around; maybe they felt like they deserved it. You know if that's you or not.

I enjoyed the food and the event so much that I've returned and told others to go as well. What I like the most is that Chiangmai's expansive menu showcases aspects of Thai cuisine that you're probably not getting at your neighborhood spot. Many items are Northern Thai style dishes. I'd never had Khao Soi before coming here and I was blown away. The chiangmai sausage is also delicious. The roasted duck curry boasts deep flavor while also maintaining the crispiest duck skin. For appetizers, we started with the crispy salmon belly bites and the moo ping. Frying salmon is risky, but the fattiness of the belly keeps it from drying out. The moo ping is nicely grilled and served with a sweet sauce. You just can't go wrong ordering meat on a stick. As an entree, I tried the Gaeng Awm Nur, a soup-like beef dish served with a side of sticky rice. Our server had been really nice and welcoming, so I felt ok asking how I should eat my meal. She advised that I make a ball of some sticky rice with my hand, mash it a bit, and then dip it into the soup. Thai food achievement unlocked! Now I know what to do next time I'm served sticky rice. There's so much on the menu it can be hard to choose. This is encouragement to go with someone else who enjoys food so you can choose things to share! You won't be disappointed and in fact may find that your regular Thai spots could step up their game in comparison.
