Ruhani Cafe specializes in chai. I am an absolute, unapologetic, self-declared chai snob. Ruhani is legit. Ruhani has the good stuff. Ruhani will greet your grandma with two hands and several bows of respect before offering her the lushest cushion and seat of honor. Ruhani is also gorgeous, a beautiful place to meet girlfriends, take pictures, and linger of your cups. It is a rare oasis third space in a city filled with souless chain coffee shops that preaches community yet enforces a bathroom code. We need more Ruhani Cafes in the world. The people who work here are delightful. They offered to make us a soda not listed on the menu which was refreshing and delicious. The chai was also incredible and I can't wait to try all the varieties. Wishing you continued success!

I am such a big fan of Ruhani! They make the chai fresh and it's always boiling hot, just the way I like it. The space is well lit and the staff are 100! It really is milky goodness and I'm not usually a chai fan but Ruhani is the best!

This cafe makes superb, authentic chai. They make it on a stovetop in a pot which is the traditional way to make chai. I got the kesar chai which had a strong saffron flavor and wasn't overly sweet (got the lowest sugar option). My fiancée got the lavender latte and he said it was extremely smooth. Next time I come, I definitely want to try some of the desserts/pastries - they all looked extremely good.

I've never rushed so quickly to write a review. This spot has it all: (1) a variety of chais, all made to order so all can be ordered unsweetened -- this alone is a game-changer. (2) they use Battenkill Valley (dairy) milk -- that's the good one, folks! (3) they're open until 10pm -- night caffeine for all who want it! (4) they have plenty of seating, including a large outdoor patio in the back. The karak chai was superb; can't wait to try the others. Literally no notes!

I was so happy to find a spot that serves tea & is open at night. They have a lovely selection of teas to choose from. Seating is available & turns over fairly quickly. The server was so helpful at assisting me with my selection.

Staff were super friend and vibes quite cute! Definitely a great place to work at if you're nearby.

Rose chai and trois lachs.

Just down Fourth Avenue and Atlantic, this spot is very spacious and quiet, yet has a modern take on Indian chai. I tried the kasar chai and rose chai, both of which were delicious. I also sampled the baklava and rose trois lache; while they were sweet, they weren't overly sweet like other places, which I found to be a positive. The service was fast and efficient. I highly recommend skipping the nearby Dunkin' and Starbucks to try this place instead.

I was at this very recently opened chai spot (March 30th) earlier in the evening having passed by on the way home from a restaurant further down on Atlantic Ave. They were closing relatively soon so some of the pastries were not available (which wasn't necessary) and there was a handful of people here and a small number of tables. They specialize in chai but they also have a wide coffee menu as well as some interesting non chai/coffee drinks. The coffee menu is pretty standard while the chai menu consists of 5 different options for an 8 oz cup. The options include karak, masala, rose, kesar (saffron,) and doodh patti with the price ranging from $4.50 for the doodh patti to $6.50 for the kesar. There is also iced for a dollar extra which I presume is put in the larger coffee cups (as the cups for coffee go up to 16 oz.) The staff was friendly here and I asked for recommendations and after a short discussion, I went with the Karak Chai which was $5 plus tax so around $5.50 which was listed as a strong slow brewed milk tea with cardamom and cinnamon. They recommend one sugar which is my preference for chai anyway and it took around maybe 5-10 minutes or so to make. The other person working there said it was very hot which was expected so I waited a little while to drink. Karak means strong and by comparison to other chai I've had, the tea flavor was a bit stronger though it did have enough cardamom and cinnamon to balance out the strong tea. The milk (which they recommend regular or oat) was lighter than most chai and the sweetness was very light which was perfect for me. By comparison to other chai spots, I preferred the flavors here and I would go back for the saffron or rose next time I am in the area. It's definitely price here than the other chai in the area but I would more compare this to the specialty shops such as the Yemeni coffee houses and by comparison to them, the price is accurate. I hope they do well.

Calm, cool and quiet atmosphere. Delicious spices in the air. Great and friendly service.

Chai made with oat milk. I saw the spices roasted on the stove top in preparation. Also a delicious chocolate croissant.

Real chai, with real spices, in a real chai pan. Just the way my grandmother makes it at home. The best in BK

She's been coming to their place sincemit was down the street and was a really small bakery/cafe. We'd never been and came here on her suggestion. It was fantastic choice. Walking in there were plenty of free tables on a Thursday morning, and we sat far from the front door on a cold winter day. The counter displaynofmcake, cookies and pastries is really gorgeous. Cousin John's offers table service with an extensive menu with omelets, pancakes, French toast and salad. Our server was helpful and very patient with us making our selections. I chose The Berkeley omelette which was pretty good. It came with a delicious salad and fried potatoes that weren't too greasy. Our group also ordered the build your own 3 egg omelette and avocado toast with 2 eggs on top. I also wanted to taste the French toast and I ordered 1 piece. It was all very tasty and satisfying, we left feeling really good. My black coffee was very good and my wife enjoyed her latte with almond milk. The price for our meal was reasonable. I'd highly recommend Cousin John's.

A colorful plate of red leaves, brown candied pecans, white ricotta, and dark blood orange slices- seasoned with a vinaigrette. The palette of the salad was bitter/acidic, but smooths out with the shredded ricotta and pleasantly penetrates with the occasional sweet crunch of the candied pecans. (8/10) I ordered the omelette and the fingerling potatoes. Omelette was pretty, and was pretty solid (hard to compare and nothing to judge). The fingerling potatoes were interesting in that the sauce was whipped/foamed up, which gave it a much lighter, airier texture as opposed to a thick, heavy mayonnaise dip. (7.25/10) I love the interior of Cafe Mado, you enter the restaurant and walk right alongside the kitchen, which is an engaging first impression. This is contrasted with the majority of the restaurant's space, which features quiet seating, and the back atrium is so pretty. Cannot wait to try Cafe Mado for dinner, or when they change the menu (allegedly every other week or so)!
