The ambiance of the restaurant was warm and comfortable. The people working there were attentive and friendly. Unfortunately, that is all the positive things we have for our visit. Our order consisted of: 1) the 4 Course Prix Fixe, which included: -house salad (a few pieces of lettuce, shredded carrot, half a slice of tomato, one piece cucumber with peanut dressing), -mix appetizer (one spring roll, one shuimai, and two money bag), -entree: I selected the mock duck druken noodle, -dessert: Go banana 2) sautéed salmon with garlic sauce. Both entrees were an epic fail! Druken noodle is all about the "wok hay" and spiciness, which was nonexistent. The flat rice noodles were far from fresh and tasted like it stayed beyond its time. The mocked duck (wheat gluten) was bland and lacked flavor. The sautéed salmon with the lacklustered garlic sauce was just a waste because it was over cooked and dry. The dish came out luke warm at best and each bite was forceful because I didn't want to waste food. I gave it a three star because of the attentiveness and friendliness of the staff. Asked for the check upon receiving my food due to long wait which made me anticipate long wait to pay. The afternoon tea experience is more of trying different mini appetizers/mini dessert than trying out tea. Can't say the food is complements the tea or vice versa. Food was sizable and filling, but depending on which dish you order it could be amazing or a bit too sweet for the palate. We came to Cafe Chili for dinner and had such a great experience from start to finish! We ordered the coconut shrimp and the corn fritters for our starters. Both were really flavorful but the corn fritters were my favorite. I could eat two orders by myself. For our entrées, we had the pork chop and the green curry with the crispy duck. She was attentive enough during our entire lunch. Food, we ordered 2 appetizers, 2 entrees and 2 cocktails. Appetizers we ordered the calamari and puff pockets. Neither was that special, the calamari could've been crisper. Entrees we ordered the drunken noodles and one of their lunch boxes. Drunken noodles had some char, meaning they had enough "wok hei". As someone who loves Thai food, I really don't get the poor reviews for this place. Yes there are better Thai spots but the prices here are reasonable and the service is nice. They have a nice lunch special consisting of a choice of soups or a salad along with a main dish. Their tom yum (which for some reason is listed as chicken lemongrass soup) from said lunch special is quite good with some pieces of meaty chicken and some mushrooms. My preference for their main dish on the lunch special is the workingman's noodles. For an entrée, I've gotten the same as well as the road duck panang which was tasty. I prefer the spot heavily over Lemongrass nearby though I think this is because the service at the other spot feels very surly and I found the noodles better here. read more

Recently moved to Carroll Gardens and when we saw a Thai place so close by, we had to try it! We've tried a handful a Thai restaurants in Brooklyn and Manhattan but haven't found one we really enjoyed... until now!! This place is DELICIOUS with fair pricing, lunch specials and coupons/deals (on yelp and in the mail). They have outdoor seating that's fairly distanced in the front of their store on the side walk, or a gorgeous and spacious outdoor backyard that makes you forget you're in NYC. We ordered: Red Curry with Veggies Drunken Noodles with Tofu Pad Thai with Chicken All three meals were really flavorful and saucy in such different ways. I would get any of these dishes again but would also love to try other meals there. Their tofu was delicious! And the chicken was decent, not as dry as other thai places. Thai cuisine is my favorite food ever, so I can't say I've truly had a bad experience because I understand it's prepared in various manners. Even the one time in Thailand I got food poisoning, I couldn't complain because the street food was damn delicious and worth the sickness. However, Cafe Chili doesn't quite reach subpar and was a poor dining experience. Located in busy Court street, other restaurants were bustling and this one was deserted, so we wanted to support them and give them business. By the end of the meal, it made sense why it was haunted. I do want to say that the restaurant itself is really cute and has a nice backyard. The staff was extremely nice, which is why it's sad the food was upsetting. The Chef's Specialty volcano chicken is literally chicken nuggets on top of a bed of yellow lettuce. It's like something I would get in McDonald's, except McDonald's would've cost 10% of the price and frankly, it was insulting to be served this as a "special" dinner entree. My friend had pad Thai with chicken, which has 6 pieces of chicken and is a classic Thai dish that's hard to ruin. The waitress was friendly, but didn't refill water once, even though at 8PM we were the only people dining there. The whole thing was odd and disappointing. Dinner came out to $60 for 2 entrees and an appetizer, and I went home hungry because I would've vomited if I finished the rest of my chicken nugget dinner. read more

They were extremely accommodating of our group of 40+ people, which is not easy to manage for a group of hungry folks. Cafe Chili is small and intimate. Was here in the afternoon, so was able to take advantage of the lunch specials. You can get a soup or salad, and a noodle or rice dish for anywhere from $8.95 to $12.95 (depending on your protein). What a deal! I got the chicken lemongrass soup (delicious and fully loaded) with the Workingman's Noodles (stir fried with bok choy, egg, and I chose chicken). Also piping hot and delicious. I had to explain the concept of wok hay to my Caucasian friend (for reference: https://guide.michelin.com/en/article/dining-out/what-is-wok-hei) and I can tell you, they produce it in spades. Came to eat here on a Friday night and ordered the Drunken Noodle with mock duck and a Thai Iced Tea. Both were delicious. The mock duck was tender and flavorful, the noodles were perfectly chewy. I forgot to ask them to omit fish sauce so I think it's possible there might have been fish sauce in my dish (I try to avoid it as a vegetarian). My fiance ordered the basil chicken fried rice but said my noodles tasted way better (yay!) Service is a little slow but I didn't mind it. They have a vegan menu too. read more
