Pad See Ew Lunch Special with Thai Iced Tea.
Cindy Z.

We came here for lunch on a Monday and it was empty, so I suppose they also turned the AC off. We were sweating and fanning ourselves with the menu, but it cooled down a tad. (I assume they decided to turn it on when they saw us). Anyways, they do offer some lunch specials, which were a good deal. For $14-16 each, you get an entree with a soup or salad. I opted for the soup while everyone else had the salad. Even though it was a hot day, I am a soup lover and the spice from this was delicious for a tom yum soup. Everyone also really enjoyed the peanut dressing for the salad. For my entree, I had a Pad See Ew while everyone got a Royal Fried Rice. The price ranges depending on your protein choice here. I also had to ask for hot sauce condiments, which they brought out separately. It's a decent spot, but there's too many other great Thai spots around.

Lovely spot run by this sweet couple who have been running this business for two decades! Gorgeous back patio area. Perfect for a co-working lunch. I even took calls here because the patio was empty on a Monday afternoon other than my friend and I. We experienced such fantastic service, and I felt welcomed as if I was eating lunch at someone's house. The pad see ew was one of the best I've had in a long time. Slight char on the noodle and chinese broccoli makes such a difference. The chive pancakes were divine and I still think about it, and they are vegan. They have an afternoon tea tasting menu that we did not try, but looked beautiful in the plating and details. Don't miss out on this gem.

Located right in Downtown Brooklyn, you will find the only place that serves Thai-style afternoon tea. If you don't consume pork, they will happily accommodate you and provide you with a vegetarian-friendly spread. Immediately upon arrival, I was greeted warmly and there were a few tables open on a busy Saturday afternoon. I decided to order the afternoon tea but found that many items contained pork. However, when I explained to them that I don't eat pork, they gladly, without any hesitation, made accommodations for me. I was happy to receive a spread with gorgeous sweet treats and creatively made veggie items such as a spring rolls and scallion pancakes. The Thai tea was perfect! I also have a dairy intolerance. But I was able to consume the tea because there wasn't any dairy products in it. It wasn't too sweet. But if you know that it has a lot of caffeine then you know it was just right. My visit was timed perfectly and I was able to stay to have dinner. I ordered the beef pad see ew, crab fried rice, basil red snapper, and half duck. I was very pleased with the presentation of every thing. However, I wasn't a big fan of the half duck smothered in the sauce... I felt like the duck was a bit dry and so it wasn't as delightful as I thought it would have been. Oh, and the lychee martini was excellent BTW! Despite the one dish, I really loved this place. I am recommending it to everyone I know.

I came here for the afternoon tea but I do not recommend! I think it was a 3/5 but I really liked the service so bumping it to 4/5 Food: we came here for afternoon tea which after tax and tip comes up to $50 per person! In the tea you get your choice of Thai tea or a tea bag. I got the Thai tea - which was very sweet and was a bit too much with a primarily sweet meal! The way the afternoon tea works is that the chef decides what you get. Most of the items are sweet! My favorite was the chive pancake! Everything else was good but nothing too special. I did love the presentation of everything and was pretty full after (i couldn't finish it)! I think this is decent especially for the price but I think I prefer more tradition afternoon teas Service: great service! Our waitress was very kind and attentive Ambience: the restaurant is very big and nice!

Cafe Chili goes back--kind of way back and it used to be a go to Thai spot for me and my family/friends. Fast forward to present day. The restaurant stands in the same place---inviting and with attractive decor. While I ordered for delivery a few times in the last several years, I recently took the opportunity to dine in. A sign outside noted happy hour food and drinks until 7. The server was courteous to extend the offer even though it was 7:09 when we settled. The air temperature was cold inside which was uncomfortable considering it was very cold outside. We started with an appetizer known as Pretty Package which were Steamed Chicken and Shrimp dumplings. They were quite good and 5 pieces to an order. For main we chose Chicken with Cashews and Chicken with Ginger (my choice). I asked for less salt since I typically don't like dark brown salty gravy. I ordered a Jasmine tea to accompany my meal. Service was somewhat lackluster which was surprising since there weren't many patrons. Food arrived a short while later. My opinion was satisfactory. It was pretty good and I enjoyed it Overall, Cafe Chili will satisfy your Thai craving but doesn't measure up to other high quality NYC restaurants cited in various articles. In the past, I liked their Pad Thai and some other selections but many dishes include duck and pork which I do not eat. Good to try if in the area and out of ideas where to dine.

Came on a New Year's Eve and the restaurant was relatively quiet for lunch. There was one server working at that time and I think there were others helping out in the kitchen. Menu was extensive but it wasn't overwhelming really just a front and back page. There were some interesting looking specials that I got which was the Andaman noodles and a curry. We originally ordered the shrimp and pineapple curry but i think the server misheard and brought out a duck and pineapple curry for us instead. They were friendly enough to offer to take it back to the kitchen to correct it for us, however we didn't want to waste any more time so we just took the duck and pineapple curry instead. The noodles were very very flavorful. A lot of seafood in it and just the right amount of spice. The pineapple duck Curry was also pretty good, I kind of wish that the bowl of rice was a little bit bigger since we finished the rice quicker than the curry. When it came to dessert, this was where I was a little disappointed because because there were two desserts that I wanted, however I was told that anything with mango wasn't available and they really only had ice cream left for dessert. Other than that, bathrooms are pretty nice Ambience was pretty nice and there looks like there is a really cute patio in the back for warmer days.

Great food at a great price. I got the lunch special. Intimate and romantic. Service was excellent.

Such a unique experience - afternoon tea with a Thai twist at a very good price. The unlimited Thai Ice Tea was delicious and the bites were very interesting - a wide variety of flavors. We sat in the courtyard outside and it was so beautiful, even saw some dogs join in the back. The service was a bit slow, but it allowed us to feel relaxed and we were able to hang out for a while.

Veggie Spring Rolls & Vegetable Dumplings

Cafe Chili has great Thai Cuisine, and this establishment is located on Court Street in Dowtown Brooklyn. Cafe Chili is close enough to Trader Joe's, Daily Provisions, Lemongrass, Blue Collar Burger, etc. & other shops, is in walking distance from the F & G trains at Bergen Street as well as w/ in enough walking distance from Atlantic Ave & Borough Hall. We came here on X-Mas Eve 2023. It was the only restaurant still open in the area that evening after first going to Brooklyn Farmacy and Soda Fountain to have dessert. Yes, we definitely craved dessert before dinner-lol. Anyway, we stumbled upon Cafe Chili that day, was seated immediately, and the rest is history. Cafe Chili has a good selection of thai / asian-fusion dishes, along w/ cocktails, & other beverages. The Veggie Spring Rolls, Vegetable Dumplings, Chicken Wings, Sauteed Vegetables & Chicken Skewers are delicious. I have been back a number of times for lunch. The weekday Lunch Special is an appetizer & Entree for $11.95. My Lunch Special favorite is the Glass Noodle Soup as an appetizer & then I get the Workingman's Noodles w/ Chicken as the entree. Everything is prepared well, and the Lunch Special is a good price for a nicely-sized dish. Happy Hour is every day from 3pm - 6:30pm and includes $5 beer, $6 wine & $2 off appetizers. Website - cafechiliny.com Instagram - @cafechilibk On the website, there is a "Discounts & Deals" section & one can place orders online to be picked up or delivered. Open Sun. - Thurs. - 11:30am - 10pm & Fri. - Sat. - 11:30am - 10:30 pm. When you check-in on Yelp, you can redeem the offer to receive a free spring roll!

Tl;dr Version- Good apps, good HH drinks, Honestly terrible entree…read more This is one of the many (many) Thai restaurants in the surrounding area which means that competition is stiff. Anyway, I was at this pretty long running Thai restaurant a while ago with two others for an early dinner. We sat outside as the weather was very nice and the inside was a bit too cold for one of the other people which was fine as they have a very nice outdoor space. As it was early, they still had happy hour and I ordered a Lychee Mojito which I think it was $8 or $9 instead of $12 or $14 or so. I don't mind at all that it was a tad boozy and there were a handful of lychees in there. This was nice. Speaking of nice, the best thing here were the appetizers. We had some type of fried dumpling to begin with though I'm honestly not sure which one as none of them really match the description and we definitely did not have the Andaman one as it contains pork and one of the other people doesn't eat it. Whatever it was, the dumpling was actually excellent being very well fried but not oily with a nice tasty center that had some basil or some other type of herb for an extra bonus. The dish had a slightly sour sweet sauce below which was fine of course. Whatever dish whatever it was, I would recommend it. There was also the pretty tasty Isan Papaya Salad (or rather Somtum for $13.95) consisting of green papaya, string bean, peanut, cherry tomatoes, and a cherry lime dressing. There was plenty of papaya for crunch and there was a bit of heat to it though less some than many other places. It tasted fresh overall with the lettuce absorbing a lot of the extra sauce. It is good but it's hard to order it here when it's literally a block away from one of the best papaya salads in the city at Zabb PuTawn's BK location. My main dish was pretty regrettably the Pad Kra Prow listed as your choice of meat stir fried with onion, garlic, bell pepper and basil in spicy basil sauce. I chose chicken (or in other words pad krapow gai) which was one of the cheap options at $18.95 and ordered it spicy and the dish arrived and tasted very differently than what I expected and not in a good way. Usually, chicken or whatever meat it is in this dish is chopped into small pieces to absorb the sauce and the dish has good kick to it making it one of my favorite Thai dishes as I like a lot of heat. The meat arrived instead in pieces which is fine as some other spots do this and as there was plenty of them but they were pretty tasteless and lacked texture with some of them being a bit gummy. There was also a brown sauce on the bottom which had a hint of holy basil but not really enough which didn't help the bad chicken. I don't mind Americanized Thai food as long as it tastes good but the main dish was atrocious and there's several places nearby which make versions which can run circles around it. I wouldn't recommend it at all. Outside of that awful dish, I tried the Chicken Pad Kee Mao/drunken noodles which was the same price which was definitely better which didn't really take much. There was plenty of meat again but the wok hei lacked with the noodles but at least it was decently spicy. The last person I believe got a fish which was fine. In a sea of Thai spots littered around Cobble Hill, this definitely falls under the "Could've Been Better" of the bunch though honestly if it wasn't for the dumplings, I might be giving this place a 1. Stick with the appetizers.
