Move over street side dining, I found my very own backyard oasis on Court Street! The OTHER Thai spot on Court was looking a bit too crowded for covid comfort so I came a bit further to check out Cafe Chili. Little did I know the GARDEN was open. I sat under the shade of their gorgeous tree and had a relaxing lunch to myself - steamed dumplings and the Pad See Ew entree with lots of chicken and egg and FLAVOR. The server brought a trio of sauces with my entree and said, "Be careful! They're spicy and I don't want you to hurt yourself." Bring it on, lady. Yum. Spicy and so delicious. read more

Beautiful place with solid customer service. I went here when I was getting frustrated with traffic to Manhattan and took a detour to grab a quick bite to eat, toss back a coffee, and catch my bearings. Everything on the menu was delicious, in particular the Thai iced tea I washed everything down with, and the Thai iced coffee I kept stealing from my girlfriend. This is a beautiful little restaurant with great Thai staples but I was especially impressed on a recent visit with my boyfriend's Basil Snapper dish. I mean...just look at that photo. Stopped in here yesterday for a quick lunch break as I was in the area. The lunch special was greatly priced and delicious. I had the tofu pad Thai, salad, and a mango bubble tea. The atmosphere is pretty decent, clean and spacious with modern neutral decor. It's a great place for a solo lunch date (not too crowded) and they have a backyard seating area as well in the front. My waitress was pretty attentive even though she was managing a few tables and was gracious enough to bring me a bubble tea without whole milk in it after they brought me out one with whole milk. I will say though the bubble tea was extremely mediocre and watery. The bathroom was clean however it's didn't have a hook for my bag or coat and that proved to be challenging. Overall I do recommend this spot as it's a calm vibe, good food, and good prices for the lunch special. read more

The decor looked nice, but food portion was small and tastes bland. I got the tender duck breast noodle soup to go. It came with about two bites of duck breast, couple broccoli, and generic noodles. The broth was salty but not savory. Not satisfied with this takeout meal. Finished the meat and broccoli in soup but not eating the rest. I spent a long time looking for a great Thai place and I found Cafe Chili by accident. I'm always looking for restaurants that are better than another. So far no other Thai place has surpassed Cafe Chili. Every time I go here the food never disappoints. I usually just get the basil fried rice and use that as my baseline. At cafe chili the basil fried rice is still the best. The price is super affordable. You should try to catch their lunch specials. The service is great. There is usually just one server but that's because when I go it isn't that busy so I get full attention. The ambience is super chill. There is an option for outdoor dining during the summer. Bottom line. Check this place out especially just before you head over to Trader Joe's a few blocks away. Happy eating! read more

This was a pleasant little surprise spot for a super quick lunch for me. I literally only had 30minutes for lunch and then had to run back to work. Well as soon as I walked in they sat me immediately and with a smile. I sat by their super fancy decorative booth. I thought it was an adorable decor choice in an otherwise small space that could easily lack style in decor. I was asked by the manager what I'd like to order , I told him..."This is a super quick lunch...literally only 30 minutes! Beautiful sitting area inside and backyard. Loved the garden in the backyard. Food was delicious. Usually don't write reviews, but had to drop by to give them thumps up. This was a really cute spot, their back yard dining is small and peaceful yet tastefully designed. We got the che duck and pad Thai; the duck was juicy and soft although missing something (what, I couldn't say, but these tastebuds knew), the pad Thai was sweet and tasty. They have nine 2-3 seater tables that are distanced appropriately, and two benches that sit about 6 people each. The staff wore mask and gloves and treated us really well. It's not a favorite but it's definitely not bad for a night out. Great for dates. read more

They have a lovely yard space in the back with plenty of distancing between tables - unlike some of the restaurants in the area. I came here around noon on a holiday and the place was empty....which means empty garden and perfect place for a impromptu photoshoot :D My party all ordered the $20 prefixe special: salad AND soup, appetizer sampler (coconut shrimp, spring roll, and this amazing deep fried fritter - don't remember what was in it, but TASTY!), entree, and deep fried ice cream (**it's NOT tempura like, it's more like a donut type of breading). I usually complain about pad thai at Spice and most Thai places for being too saucey and sweet, almost dessert-like. However, this pad thai was dry and bland, to the point where I felt like I could taste the noodles... o_____0 Appetizers were the highlight of the meal in terms of both taste and presentation. However, I appreciate the presentation of all the dishes. Dessert was pretty, but I was disappointed that the ice cream came with thick breading rather than a crispy tempura batter. The decor inside is appealing and definitely holds its own when the weather isn't so perfect for outdoor dining. We each chose meals from the four course menu that's $20 pp. it starts with a small salad, then a small app sampler, then the main course (We had drunken noodles with chicken and pad Thai with tofu), and then a fried banana dessert. We also ordered a large bottle of cold sake which complimented the meal well. Super polite and attentive service, albeit a little bit slow at the start when we were sitting without anything in front of us and were famished.
