So far so good! Tried out this relatively new Thai spot and was impressed with the bold flavors and attentive service. We sampled a few dishes, including the pork belly appetizer and crab curry. Everything was tasty and well spiced. Speaking of, Samyan actually offers Thai spicy level of spice, and I believe it! The medium here is more like a medium-high spice elsewhere-- cool. They have a terrific happy hour and pretty fresh flowers to go with the dim lighting. I'm looking forward to visiting again soon.

Five Spices Pork Belly

Super cute new Thai place in Clinton Hill!! The place has a bit of an old school antique vibe, and it felt very calming to walk in. All the recommendations were delicious, and we had three of the dishes: Crab meat curry - incredible balance of flavors, and they give you a REALLY generous portion of meat! Five Spices Pork Belly - braised to a softness and tenderness that melts in your mouth, and the flavor is so deliciously cooked all the way through Tom Yum Goong - this dish comes in a traditional steamboat, and the sour flavor hits you immediately. I like a bit more milky texture, but still really enjoyed this!! Dessert - the coconut cream is no joke, it was garnished and decked out with nuts and jelly and all the textures worked so well together. They also have a mango ice cream available as well! Overall I loved my experience here - the service is so attentive and caring, and I really appreciate the care they have for each and every one of their dishes!

If u can handle the heat (spice) Get chicken wings!! I honestly wanted to inhale the whole plate n not share w/ BF Get the ground angus beef w/ egg! Popping the egg over rice was so satisfying. The whole dish is rice annihilator! Can probably eat 2 bowls of white rice per person. Bell peppers do not overtake flavor of this dish (so many other Thai places let bell peppers rumble thru too much) Less spice - non spice Get the crab fried rice! (And this is coming from a crab hater) Impress ur seafood loving friends w/ this dish, u won't regret it. Get the chive appetizer~ love the bean sprouts and fluffy chive squares. Not on the sticky side. All the savory dishes we had were grease / oil-free. Plates were cleared and no excess oil to be found. U feel like u had a non-heavy meal.

Great Thai food and service. It is a new spot in the neighborhood. Wok chive is a vegan friendly Thai styled chive cake.

This place is a great new addition to Clinton Hill! Great tasting Thai food. Very cute, clean and warm. Enough vegetarian and pescatarian choices for us and of course plenty for carnivores. Service is quick as well. Everything tasted clean --not too oily or sauce y.

Place is great, lots of authentic options, and of course all of the classic Thai-NYC menu options like pad Thai and basil fried rice.

This is definitely depends highly on the fact of what time and day you to Holic Thai Bistro. Here for a good time to chat but in a chill environment . I would lunch special hours and the beginning of the evenings are your best bet. Otherwise you're here with the party crowd. But looks like all good vibez only, Please. Let's get to the food. First off the most delicious group of appetizers. I wished their potions size were more decent. It's pricey for what is offered. Since curries are my favorite I tired those entrees first. Love the masala and green. Like them so tried with different types of proteins. My only draw back to this place or gets too rowdy at times. Also the place is too small . They need to expand so there more movement around. I would come back during the lunch hours to try the noodles and rice. I've seen come out to the kitchen is pretty tempting. If you want to socialize mingle with the crowds of the locals come after 6pm.

Quality was on par with the prior Thai Holic and portion sizes are large! Inside had a similar style to the prior restaurant, albeit a little dark. Service for both drinks and food was quick. Also, if you pay with cash, you get a 10% discount! We came here on a weekend afternoon and was happy to discover that it was happy hour, so my friend and I each ordered a drink for $10. He got the Rum Punch and I got the Zombie and both were good. Since we already knew we liked the prior restaurant and it was hard for us to get back to this location, we went with items that we usually don't order - Duck Pad Thai and Salmon Curry. Both was delicious, we loved the flavors of both dishes.

Newsflash: Ugly Baby is back on its bullshit. Ugly Baby's…read moreconceit, if you can call it that, was that it was really, really spicy. Spicy food, in case you didn't know, connotes authenticity. Call it suffering for beauty, in a culinary wrapper. Ugly Baby took this S&M theater to its logical conclusion in all regards: tuck it in an inaccessible corner of South Brooklyn; use tiny chairs and brusquely inform diners they have an hour start to finish at their table. The more inconvenient it was, the better. I held my applause after my single visit to Ugly Baby, which closed amidst wails and lamentation last year from people who liked rough treatment. But something drew me back to this reincarnation, started by the same people. Maybe, I thought, they'd found a way to bring us that magnetic authenticity, and hold the ball gags and chain flails? The answer is no. I should have known from the name alone: another mysterious two-word phrase (both of whose words again end in -y) that sounds like it could be an overly literal translation of some ineffable Thai concept. I should have known when it opened in the same godforsaken corner of ... what is that? Gowanus? I should have known from the protracted negotiations for a suitable table that followed when my husband, mom and I arrived punctually for our 5:30 reservation and were primly informed we'd be squeezing onto a two top, then were refused an obviously empty three-top ("it's reserved"....oh you mean by a party of three with a reservation like us?), and then grudgingly seated at a four-top, half of which was literally in the kitchen. I should have known after being apprised that "you have one hour at the table." I should have known when there were no appetizers or desserts, and only two vegetarian entrees. This is the same thing as before. We're so back, baby. The mushroom curry, with its single fire emoj, was nowhere near the spiciest thing on the menu, but gosh was it still spicy. How do they make food with such complex flavors that's still hot enough to have emanated from the bowels of hell? It has to be one of the best curries I've had. It's a talent, special even, but it could easily coexist without Hungry Thirsty's other downsides. But I think all those inconveniences and discomforts are the point. They serve to reinforce the specialness of the special parts, counterintuitively increasing your mental investment in internally extolling Hungry Thirsty's virtues. They are to each element what spice is to food: it hurts, and you're proud that it hurts. It all adds up to the second coming of Ugly Baby, and why wouldn't it? Enough people liked being slapped around; maybe they felt like they deserved it. You know if that's you or not.

Definitely need to make a reservation if you're planning to go as it's very busy. Tables are very…read moreclose together and a bit small so if you order a lot of food, there may not be enough space. I enjoyed the food and the event so much that I've returned and told others to go as well. What I like the most is that Chiangmai's expansive menu showcases aspects of Thai cuisine that you're probably not getting at your neighborhood spot. Many items are Northern Thai style dishes. I'd never had Khao Soi before coming here and I was blown away. The chiangmai sausage is also delicious. The roasted duck curry boasts deep flavor while also maintaining the crispiest duck skin. For appetizers, we started with the crispy salmon belly bites and the moo ping. Frying salmon is risky, but the fattiness of the belly keeps it from drying out. The moo ping is nicely grilled and served with a sweet sauce. You just can't go wrong ordering meat on a stick. As an entree, I tried the Gaeng Awm Nur, a soup-like beef dish served with a side of sticky rice. Our server had been really nice and welcoming, so I felt ok asking how I should eat my meal. She advised that I make a ball of some sticky rice with my hand, mash it a bit, and then dip it into the soup. Thai food achievement unlocked! Now I know what to do next time I'm served sticky rice. There's so much on the menu it can be hard to choose. This is encouragement to go with someone else who enjoys food so you can choose things to share! You won't be disappointed and in fact may find that your regular Thai spots could step up their game in comparison.
