Just found my new go-to spot in Brooklyn Heights! Lantern Thai Kitchen has been around for almost 20 years, and now I see why. The food is fresh, tasty, and doesn't break the bank. We ordered the appetizer platter (a ton of delicious bites to try!), plus pineapple fried rice , noodles, and everything was just chef's kiss! The vibe inside is also super chill and cute and a modern look. If you're in the neighborhood, definitely swing by and give it a try. You won't regret it! Featuring : Appetizer Sampler includes Chicken shrimp Fritters Coconut shrimp Cheese & Crab Rangoon Sa Tae Chicken Avocado egg rolls Pot sticker Crispy Shrimp rolls Curry Puff Nightingale Nest Pineapple fried rice in pineapple shells Salmon Mango Kee Mao noodle with chicken Sweet Mango with sticky rice Thai Mojito Mai Tai Butterfly peas Lemon and soda

The food here is a bit overpriced for mediocre Thai food. The food does come quickly and staff is very nice. But I wasn't wowed by it nor do I feel like I need to come here again.

I've been going to this place for years and it definitely is a neighborhood staple that is quite nice for a local Thai spot. In my opinion, it is the perfect place to meet up with a small group or for a one-on-one meal. In terms of service, they have always brought the food orders out quickly within minutes after I've placed my order. It's nice to sit on the sidewalk and have a meal when it's not congested and it's also nice to sit inside even though it is super dark inside. They have tons to select from on their menu, which includes seafood and more and they also have quite a few drink options. Their food is tasty and seasoned pretty well and the service is on point. I love coming here with family too!

Lateen has never failed me. Discovered this place about 4 years ago. It's my go to when I'm in the neighborhood or craving Thai. It's a very small cozy spot, with a warm vibe. Noise is never an issue and indoor and outdoor seating creates the perfect ambiance for either date night or a gala night out. A creature of habit, I usually have spring rolls for appetizers, pineapple fried rice with or without shrimp and if I'm in the mood for booz, I go with the lychee martini. The serving is quite huge and there's plenty to eat and take home. If budget friendly with quality eats motivates your choices, this will always be a good one. Customer service is always good and I have never had a bad experience. Snuk (enjoy)

Typical Thai spot for the area. Basic lunch specials with the classic options. A little more expensive than others further into Cobble Hill or Carroll Gardens but that might be a location thing. Wait staff were attentive and quick. Decor was nice but a little too dark especially if it is sunny outside. A good option if you're in the area.

Serves excellent, fresh & local thai dishes in Brooklyn Heights neighborhood. The decor & ambiance is very nice, perfect for date nights or girls night out. They serve traditional thai dishes and although mostly everything tasted very good & flavorul, some of our favorites are the appetizer sampler, pineapple roasted duck & avocado rolls. They also serve amazing cocktails! Also love the friendly staff.

Decent service and Thai food. I came for lunch and got the lunch set. The Pad Thai was good -- nothing out of the ordinary. The noodles seemed extra chewy, which I actually liked. The Thai Style Shumai was not so good. I wouldn't order them again.

The decor inside is so pretty !! And the waitstaff is so nice and respectful, they kept checking in and were wonderfully kind to me. The food was a YES super flavorful and the presentation somehow made the food yummier . I got the volcanic chicken and my company got the shrimp fried rice and a mojito. They actually set the chicken on fire !!! It was so cool and fun . Love this place and the food and the prices are pretty affordable meal was like under $50 for 2 ppl plus an alcohol drink

    Chipped plates. Just terrible.

I was gifted a gift card/prepaid voucher to eat at this establishment. There were no marked limitations on it outside of the amount. Myself and a friend entered and were standing there for a while before we were greeted. One of us had to call out excuse me before one of the two at the bar looked up from to ask if we're ready. After ordering for takeout, I handed over my voucher to cover the bill. The gentleman stared at it as if it were some alien object. When I asked if there's a problem, he immediately said "You can't use this. It's only for dining in." Now as mentioned before, there are no written restrictions anywhere on the paper, but I wasn't in the mood to argue. I just said fine, we'll eat here then. Apparently this didn't make them happy as he got an attitude about the change of plans. Our food was brought out quickly enough, albeit on chipped plates. Despite the infuriating experience and dangerously damaged dinnerware, the food IS delicious. I can't take that from them. However, their terrible customer service, and dinnerware leaves me never wanting to patronize this place again. Free or not.

This is about my 7th time coming here through out the 20+ years of it being here. Their prices for the location are decent & most importantly the flavor of their dishes are delicious and their attentive service adds to the experience! We will keep coming here.

Decent option if you're craving Thai food. We arrived as a party of two with a reservation for the afternoon and were seated immediately. Indoor and outdoor seating options were available. We chose to sit indoors. This spot was tidy and cozy. We ordered Thai Iced Tea, the Crispy Calamari as an appetizer, and the Chicken Green Curry and Chicken Kee Mao (Drunken Noodle) as entrees. Overall, the food was okay, but the curry was a bit watery than I am used to.

The beef pad see eww was one of the best I've ever had. From the texture of the noodles, to the sauce, to the veggies and beef. It's a must have here! Lunch in Brooklyn during in-between meetings of my professional duties of a Wednesday afternoon…read moresummons Thai cuisine. Pad Kee Mao (aka Drunken Noodles), chicken $15.00 Stir-fried flat rice noodle, bamboo shoots, garlic, basil, fresh chili, onion, carrot, string bean, bell pepper, long hot chili The flat rice noodle quantity was sufficient, but minimal and there were too much onion, insufficient string bean, two paucity pieces of carrot. I dislike bamboo shoot which is not a standard ingredient for this particular entrée. I think the bamboo shoot tainted this entrée. I am a traditionalist conservative which bean sprouts is a good substitute variation for bamboo shoot vegetable including string bean. This entrée is my favorite default and as a caveat, if any Thai restaurant or cafe do not offer on their menu I refuse entry to patronize. This entrée enticed my interest and embedded the lunch meal menu for the reasonable price. I personally despise and do not consume spicy hot foods, but occasionally consume mild or very mild in the smallest measurement of the Scoville scale which I specifically requested, but received medium hot spicy. The waitress forewarned me the intense heat level on the Scoville scale as Thai cultural spicy with two or more bird's eye chilies for a high level of spiciness. The spiciness of chili peppers were, in my opinion, medium spicy. Despite the intense medium heat spiciness, the stir-fried noodles lacked flavor with, tender chicken, minimal vegetables, and Thai basil in a bland taste. I wish I chosen shrimp as the protein. Pad Kee Mao sustained my hunger pangs and ate my fill. When eating Thai intense heat spicy foods, I visualize to think of the TV segment "Niall Horan & James Corden Take On Hot Wings" on "The Late Late Show with James Corden" in March, 2020. High heat spicy foods! Thai ice tea, large $3.00 This was a delight and neutralized the heat spiciness because it contains milk. It was served chilled in a large highball glass. Samyan is a Thai cafe located in Clinton Hill, Brooklyn, NYC and accessible via MTA NYC Transit C local train at Clinton-Washington subway station. This cafe is a independently owned and operated, thankfully. The waitress did check-in with me during my meal for attentive customer service. The atmospheric conditions were a simple small dine-in cafe. There were many paintings, portraits hanging on their walls of white subway tiles. Gold metallic metal chopsticks and fork are provided. If utensils are gold then the interior cafe should contain these "gaudy" feature extensive gold elements, including gilded moldings and furniture. Peony rose are very simply and made pretty table centerpiece decorations. Takeout menu and business cards are available for grabs. I did received my sales receipt. At the bottom of the sales receipt there is a suggested gratuity in intervals of 18%, 20% and 22% where customers do not have to perform math calculation. I paid $23.00 in cash as the waitress' informative knowledge of the ingredients and preparation of the heat level on the Scoville scale.

Spicy food, in case you didn't know, connotes authenticity. Call it suffering for beauty, in a culinary wrapper. Ugly Baby took this S&M theater to its logical conclusion in all regards: tuck it in an inaccessible corner of South Brooklyn; use tiny chairs and brusquely inform diners they have an hour start to finish at their table. The more inconvenient it was, the better. I held my applause after my single visit to Ugly Baby, which closed amidst wails and lamentation last year from people who liked rough treatment. But something drew me back to this reincarnation, started by the same people. Maybe, I thought, they'd found a way to bring us that magnetic authenticity, and hold the ball gags and chain flails? The answer is no. I should have known from the name alone: another mysterious two-word phrase (both of whose words again end in -y) that sounds like it could be an overly literal translation of some ineffable Thai concept. I should have known when it opened in the same godforsaken corner of ... what is that? Gowanus? I should have known from the protracted negotiations for a suitable table that followed when my husband, mom and I arrived punctually for our 5:30 reservation and were primly informed we'd be squeezing onto a two top, then were refused an obviously empty three-top ("it's reserved"....oh you mean by a party of three with a reservation like us?), and then grudgingly seated at a four-top, half of which was literally in the kitchen. I should have known after being apprised that "you have one hour at the table." I should have known when there were no appetizers or desserts, and only two vegetarian entrees. This is the same thing as before. We're so back, baby. The mushroom curry, with its single fire emoj, was nowhere near the spiciest thing on the menu, but gosh was it still spicy. How do they make food with such complex flavors that's still hot enough to have emanated from the bowels of hell? It has to be one of the best curries I've had. It's a talent, special even, but it could easily coexist without Hungry Thirsty's other downsides. But I think all those inconveniences and discomforts are the point. They serve to reinforce the specialness of the special parts, counterintuitively increasing your mental investment in internally extolling Hungry Thirsty's virtues. They are to each element what spice is to food: it hurts, and you're proud that it hurts. It all adds up to the second coming of Ugly Baby, and why wouldn't it? Enough people liked being slapped around; maybe they felt like they deserved it. You know if that's you or not.

I enjoyed the food and the event so much that I've returned and told others to go as well. What I like the most is that Chiangmai's expansive menu showcases aspects of Thai cuisine that you're probably not getting at your neighborhood spot. Many items are Northern Thai style dishes. I'd never had Khao Soi before coming here and I was blown away. The chiangmai sausage is also delicious. The roasted duck curry boasts deep flavor while also maintaining the crispiest duck skin. For appetizers, we started with the crispy salmon belly bites and the moo ping. Frying salmon is risky, but the fattiness of the belly keeps it from drying out. The moo ping is nicely grilled and served with a sweet sauce. You just can't go wrong ordering meat on a stick. As an entree, I tried the Gaeng Awm Nur, a soup-like beef dish served with a side of sticky rice. Our server had been really nice and welcoming, so I felt ok asking how I should eat my meal. She advised that I make a ball of some sticky rice with my hand, mash it a bit, and then dip it into the soup. Thai food achievement unlocked! Now I know what to do next time I'm served sticky rice. There's so much on the menu it can be hard to choose. This is encouragement to go with someone else who enjoys food so you can choose things to share!
