Thai custard, Pad See Ew, Drunken Noodle
    Amanda W.

Thai food is always on point especially with their spicy things, we love that. Ordered some usual noodle dishes to try out. Pad see ew was good, the smell of the dish threw me off a lil, it do have nice color tho, yet lots of noodles but not enough ingredients in terms of the ratio to noodles. I finished all my veggies and added protein and had 5-6 bites of noodle left. 8/10 They did however made me very happy bc I asked for extra spicy and it was delivered perfectly :) Drunken noodle did not miss, it was super delicious. From the spicy aspect to the freshness of the bell peppers. 10/10. Thai custard is ok. Should've ordered mango sticky rice instead, in my opinion. 6/10

It was a rainy day, and I decided to get lunch with my girlfriend at Coco Thai. We came in around 2:00 and it wasn't very busy, plenty of tables to choose from. The waitress poured glasses of water for us and we began browsing the menu. Out of curiosity, we decided to try the "beef noodle soup," essentially their version of pho. We also ordered the drunken noodles with chicken, requesting it extra spicy. The noodle soup was interesting. I'm not convinced the broth was fresh, and it was sweeter than typical pho broth, but it wasn't bad either. The noodles were okay, but the bean sprouts, cilantro, and basil should have been fresher. The beef was also iffy. My guess is that this isn't one of the more popular items here. The drunken noodles were tastier, and, I was happy to note, spicy. The noodles were a bit too soft, and the quality of the ingredients could have been better, but it was still enjoyable. Of those dishes we tried, that's the one I'd recommend the most. Overall, pretty average Thai restaurant. I'd suggest ordering takeout/delivery, as the dine-in experience was unappealing.

One of my to go spot near prospect park when I have a Thai craving. This place is bloomed with flavor and spice. Trust them when they say the dish is spicy because my mouth was on fire but it was just so delicious. I cooled it off with Thai ice tea; that always does the trick. I miss the times of dining in the restaurant but I also appreciate that the restaurant can retain its flavor and portion when ordering to go during the pandemic. My favorite has always been their drunken noodles, spicy fried rice, and pork belly with Chinese vegetable. I would skip the squid because its not as crunchy and it's a bit too chewy. Overall, one of my favorite Thai place in Brooklyn!

We ordered not-spicy ... CLEAR on My Yelp Order .... they just ignore it; they just send whatever they want... Knowing that we're not going to open up the bag until we get into the house and close the door... Do not order from this place!!!!!!

We were walking by Prospect Park and wanted Thai food for take out. I'm glad I stumbled upon Coco Thai since they had the option to add crispy pork to your noodles. We opted for the pad see ew and pad kee mao with crispy pork for both. The dishes were huge and super tasty!!! I just wish they didn't come with as many boiled carrots, but I'll make sure to note that for next time when I come back :)

Coco Thai brings Thai food to the heart of park slope. It is clearly a winner in this quiet cute neighborhood. Recommend getting apps to share like the mango salad, fried shrimp rolls. The drunken noodle with fried duck was excellent. Also the deep fried whole red snapper was a sweet and tangy delight. Add a Thai iced tea or coffee to your meal to make it complete. Consider a mango sticky rice for dessert

I see a lot of 1-star reviews but today i dined in for lunch and had a great meal. The kitchen did seem to get the wrong rice, but the hostess/waitress was rly great about it and fixed it immediately. I could see how that might be an issue if it were delivery; it seems to be a chronic issue with a hasty person - i say this because it was neither busy nor crowded and there was only 1 takeout order. I had one of the crispy rolls to start, they were very good. Entree was beef basil, and it was even better than i hoped for at this price point. The sticky sweet coconut rice was only moderately sweet and coco-nutty, but still acceptable. I will be back in person to eat here again.

The pad see yew here is really amazing but I have a sour taste in my mouth after the last couple times that I ordered. My 2nd to last order was very mushy and not as tasty as the usual. My most recent order had a plastic bag in it, not too sure how that happened but this was a complete turn off. I traditionally order on Uber eats and it breaks my heart that I may not be able to eat here anymore after this experience.

    ROTI is the thing!!!

Anyone remotely near Park Slope and Windsor Terrace should get themselves over here for a surprisingly delicious and fresh experience. I was in here on a weekday night and was initially kind of saddened by how empty it was, until I realized that this is perhaps the trend for brick and mortar eateries now since all us lazy asses are ordering from the comfort of our shabby, cramped, cluttered, overheated, walk-up apartments. Because there's no way people aren't enjoying this food. It's just so good, and at such a value. There's something to be said for not having to spoon out the soupy goodness of this country's cuisine from a series of non-sustainable plastic delivery packaging. Plus, the restaurant is clean and homey, and has really interesting ethnic yet almost Appalachian-looking antiquey decor that makes you wonder further about who owns the spot, when it was established, and that whole story. I got my usual Tom Ka Soup with chicken (now becoming somewhat of a gauge for comparing Thai spots), then took the plunge and went for spicy Panang Curry with Squid, even though I've been really let down by so many Panangs that are too sweet-and-sour, yet somehow bland at the same time. Now pay attention here...even knowing that the curry dish would come with rice, I got starch-greedy and ordered a side of roti when I saw that it was available. Thai roti ()...it's a thing, dense, chewy, and delightfully flaky all at once, kind of like Indian paratha. I couldn't believe it when the roti came out and almost stole the show put on by a solid Tom Ka soup and a dimensional, spicy, sophisticated Panang curry that tasted like it had really been COOKED instead of kind of warmed up from a vat. And you know, I wouldn't care how they made it because it tasted amazing and was served efficiently with a warm smile. There was neither hovering nor negligence on the part of the staff, and I got to enjoy a private dinner for two that can't have been more than $30, and that included starters, sides, Southeast Asian beer, and the delightful mains. Being here has stopped me from haphazardly ordering Thai food when feeling lazy. Next time I crave Thai, I'm going to treat the craving with respect and make the few block walk to here.

Returned today for lunch with my mom and my Aunt. All three of us shared appetizers over Thai Iced Tea. Great to experience a better menu and .improved service. Two old trendy ladies give this place five stars.

Ordered in UberEats: Drunken Noodles with tofu n spicy Drunken Noodles with chicken and no vegetables non-spicy Curry puff Sticky Rice All together total was $41+ The Dunken Noodles has like a cupboard paper in it! Another Chicken drunken noodles wasn't even the one I ordered (it has all the vege and it's spicy) my husband won't eat it The The curry puff was almost $7 and it's 3 little piece that's all my husband ate. The sticky rice are dried looks like it's leftover that they don't wanna throw away (steamed rice but dried and turned color) how? This is so disappointing spend more money to order for something that to throw away

As soon as we arrived, we were escorted to a table. I've noticed that this restaurant seemed very authentic. They had dishes that I've never seen at other Thai spots. Their chefs are also from Central & Northeastern part of Thailand. So, they are cooking from their respective regions. The presentation of their dishes are all aesthetically pleasing. We decided to share a small plate of HOR MOK This tasted almost like a crab puree into a spoon sized portion. There's 7 pieces in one order. It was recommended to eat it all in one bite. It was great. Texture was very smooth in your mouth. Surprisingly, it had a spicy kick (but nothing too intense). I personally decided to try KHAO PAD MUN NEUR. This is a pricey dish, but very filling! It was said to have 2 pepper spice level to it, but I personally didn't find it very spicy. The rib eye was cooked just the way I like it - medium well (still with some redness in the inner portion). The meat had a perfectly charred/grilled exterior, but very soft to chew. This meat was probably the best part of the dish. Only slight complaint is that the rice was very saucy (almost a bit too much for my preference). But overall, I did enjoy it and was able to finish it, but left super full! Overall, I think it was worth a try. Their service is great. The servers are super great of making sure that your water is always topped up. They explained the recommended way to eat certain dishes. They were able to answer any questions that we had.

I dislike bamboo shoot which is not a standard ingredient for this particular entrée. I think the bamboo shoot tainted this entrée. I am a traditionalist conservative which bean sprouts is a good substitute variation for bamboo shoot vegetable including string bean. This entrée is my favorite default and as a caveat, if any Thai restaurant or cafe do not offer on their menu I refuse entry to patronize. This entrée enticed my interest and embedded the lunch meal menu for the reasonable price. I personally despise and do not consume spicy hot foods, but occasionally consume mild or very mild in the smallest measurement of the Scoville scale which I specifically requested, but received medium hot spicy. The waitress forewarned me the intense heat level on the Scoville scale as Thai cultural spicy with two or more bird's eye chilies for a high level of spiciness. The spiciness of chili peppers were, in my opinion, medium spicy. Despite the intense medium heat spiciness, the stir-fried noodles lacked flavor with, tender chicken, minimal vegetables, and Thai basil in a bland taste. I wish I chosen shrimp as the protein. Pad Kee Mao sustained my hunger pangs and ate my fill. When eating Thai intense heat spicy foods, I visualize to think of the TV segment "Niall Horan & James Corden Take On Hot Wings" on "The Late Late Show with James Corden" in March, 2020. High heat spicy foods! Thai ice tea, large $3.00 This was a delight and neutralized the heat spiciness because it contains milk. It was served chilled in a large highball glass. Samyan is a Thai cafe located in Clinton Hill, Brooklyn, NYC and accessible via MTA NYC Transit C local train at Clinton-Washington subway station. This cafe is a independently owned and operated, thankfully. The waitress did check-in with me during my meal for attentive customer service. The atmospheric conditions were a simple small dine-in cafe. There were many paintings, portraits hanging on their walls of white subway tiles. Gold metallic metal chopsticks and fork are provided. If utensils are gold then the interior cafe should contain these "gaudy" feature extensive gold elements, including gilded moldings and furniture. Peony rose are very simply and made pretty table centerpiece decorations. Takeout menu and business cards are available for grabs. I did received my sales receipt. At the bottom of the sales receipt there is a suggested gratuity in intervals of 18%, 20% and 22% where customers do not have to perform math calculation. I paid $23.00 in cash as the waitress' informative knowledge of the ingredients and preparation of the heat level on the Scoville scale.

My partner was running late, and even though the place is clearly very popular right now, they still accommodated us with a table. The staff explained every unfamiliar dish we asked about, always with a smile. I usually avoid the standard NYC Thai restaurant lineup of pad thai + generic curry situations and look for places that feel more regional and authentic. The menu here had a bunch of dishes I didn't recognize, which immediately made me excited. They even have a spice guide though the icons don't necessarily mean increasing spice levels. As I understood it, different symbols represent different types of heat. Three chili emojis and three meteor emojis may be equally spicy, but they hit differently. They recommended not to order the pad krapow nuer, and honestly, fair enough. Instead, we got the chicken khao soi, which was far better than versions I've had elsewhere - deeply flavorful, spicy, rich with umami. My partner was crying. I, meanwhile, was at "this is perfect and I'm having a great time." One Huge chunk of chicken cooked exactly right. Mix everything thoroughly before eating. Then came the kua kling which arrived with another warning. That dish became my personal challenge to impress the server, and apparently I succeeded because now they've promised that next time they won't discourage me from ordering the nuer. They kept refilling cabbage and cucumber for us to cool down from the heat. The kua kling itself was incredible. That dry curry heat was everything. It builds slowly, then suddenly punches you in the face - but alongside all that spice is an insane amount of flavor. They also recommended to order a non-spicy side dish to have a balanced meal and spice level, but we skipped it because it would've been too much food. Honestly, this is the kind of place where going with at least four people is ideal so you can try more dishes and balance the spice levels. And if you're unsure what to order, trust the servers - their recommendations were spot on. Also: really great ciders and beers. We were really happy with both choices. Overall, even though it's far from the city for me, I'd absolutely go back.

Spicy food, in case you didn't know, connotes authenticity. Call it suffering for beauty, in a culinary wrapper. Ugly Baby took this S&M theater to its logical conclusion in all regards: tuck it in an inaccessible corner of South Brooklyn; use tiny chairs and brusquely inform diners they have an hour start to finish at their table. The more inconvenient it was, the better. I held my applause after my single visit to Ugly Baby, which closed amidst wails and lamentation last year from people who liked rough treatment. But something drew me back to this reincarnation, started by the same people. Maybe, I thought, they'd found a way to bring us that magnetic authenticity, and hold the ball gags and chain flails? The answer is no. I should have known from the name alone: another mysterious two-word phrase (both of whose words again end in -y) that sounds like it could be an overly literal translation of some ineffable Thai concept. I should have known when it opened in the same godforsaken corner of ... what is that? Gowanus? I should have known from the protracted negotiations for a suitable table that followed when my husband, mom and I arrived punctually for our 5:30 reservation and were primly informed we'd be squeezing onto a two top, then were refused an obviously empty three-top ("it's reserved"....oh you mean by a party of three with a reservation like us?), and then grudgingly seated at a four-top, half of which was literally in the kitchen. I should have known after being apprised that "you have one hour at the table." I should have known when there were no appetizers or desserts, and only two vegetarian entrees. This is the same thing as before. We're so back, baby. The mushroom curry, with its single fire emoj, was nowhere near the spiciest thing on the menu, but gosh was it still spicy. How do they make food with such complex flavors that's still hot enough to have emanated from the bowels of hell? It has to be one of the best curries I've had. It's a talent, special even, but it could easily coexist without Hungry Thirsty's other downsides. But I think all those inconveniences and discomforts are the point. They serve to reinforce the specialness of the special parts, counterintuitively increasing your mental investment in internally extolling Hungry Thirsty's virtues. They are to each element what spice is to food: it hurts, and you're proud that it hurts. It all adds up to the second coming of Ugly Baby, and why wouldn't it? Enough people liked being slapped around; maybe they felt like they deserved it. You know if that's you or not.

My first time here and it was a great experience. It is Valentine's Day and we left with a cute little gift from them, beautiful gesture. Definitely coming back :)

Chiangmai Diner is the most unique Thai restaurant I've encountered. My first experience was…read morethrough a Yelp Elite event where we were generously welcomed to a wide variety of items on the menu. I enjoyed the food and the event so much that I've returned and told others to go as well. What I like the most is that Chiangmai's expansive menu showcases aspects of Thai cuisine that you're probably not getting at your neighborhood spot. Many items are Northern Thai style dishes. I'd never had Khao Soi before coming here and I was blown away. The chiangmai sausage is also delicious. The roasted duck curry boasts deep flavor while also maintaining the crispiest duck skin. For appetizers, we started with the crispy salmon belly bites and the moo ping. Frying salmon is risky, but the fattiness of the belly keeps it from drying out. The moo ping is nicely grilled and served with a sweet sauce. You just can't go wrong ordering meat on a stick. As an entree, I tried the Gaeng Awm Nur, a soup-like beef dish served with a side of sticky rice. Our server had been really nice and welcoming, so I felt ok asking how I should eat my meal. She advised that I make a ball of some sticky rice with my hand, mash it a bit, and then dip it into the soup. Thai food achievement unlocked! Now I know what to do next time I'm served sticky rice. There's so much on the menu it can be hard to choose. This is encouragement to go with someone else who enjoys food so you can choose things to share! You won't be disappointed and in fact may find that your regular Thai spots could step up their game in comparison.
