Take-out review: Happy a top notch Thai restaurant is back in Bay Ridge as I was sad when Bay Thai shut down. The staff were very accommodating when I needed to change my order from pick up to delivery, and they still delivered on time. I loved all the food I ordered as everything were flavorful! Highly recommended their: - Curry puffs - Chive cakes - Pad se ew - Crab fried rice - Pork belly - Pad Thai Note: Their green curry is the real deal - it was too spicy for me to handle. I can't wait to dine in to try some of their chef specials. They are definitely worth the local hype!

Tried this new spot in my hood, Arom Dee Thai on Senator and Third... This has replaced MyThai (RIP) and I'm not mad! Although this place doesn't serve liquor, I don't think it's a big deal since the food more than makes up for the lack of liquor. I've been on the hunt for foo good Pad Thai and think I've found it. Like I implied, MyThai was my jam! I kept it simple like I always do : I ordered Shrimp Rolls w/plum sauce and Beef Pad Thai (w/extra limes but no bean sprouts). Y'all the Paid Thai came w/chicharrones.....CHICHARRONES (pork rinds) - ya gurl was hella confused because that's what I noticed first. I thought they made a mistake and put chicharrones instead of beef! Lmao - don't judge me y'all ‍ The Paid Thai noodles were a bit different than what I'm used to but I didn't mind because it was so good! Oh, and the shrimp rolls were good too - it WAS ACTUALLY shrimp! Can't wait to go back and try the rest of the menu. Tip: if you pay in cash, there's a discount.

One of my favorite Thai places now! The restaurant itself is kind of small but theres a good amount of seatings. We came on a Friday around 630 and when we left around 730, the place was filled. The staff are super friendly and attentive. We got the thai tea and thai coffee, the thai ny platter, thai green curry with duck and the khao soi. We absolutely loved everything we ordered. The green curry was extremely spicy though, but the flavor and duck were so good! Will definitely be coming back!

I usually don't mind when a restaurant isn't run by people from the country of the cuisine, but this one really misses the mark. The staff were friendly and mostly spoke Mandarin -- no issue there -- but the food just wasn't Thai. The flavors were off and lacked the depth you'd expect from real Thai cooking. The biggest disappointment was the Tom Yum soup -- it tasted more like canned tomato soup with a hint of something vaguely Thai. For the price, I expected way better. If you're craving actual Thai food, do yourself a favor and go somewhere else.

I feel like you can't go wrong with a Thai place with good food. My go to order is the pad see ew with shrimp. You always have to pay extra for shrimp but it just taste better. They had a lunch special with a house salad and a single egg roll. I honestly didn't care for the sides. My main dish was super filling and I enjoyed it.

The restaurant is small (you might miss it if you're not looking for it) but it's cozy and the interior is pretty. The waiter was patient and attentive. There was not a bland dish on the table and nothing was left on the plate. The spring rolls were crispy and came with plum sauce. I expected the typical plum sauce but I was wrong. It was probably the best plum sauce I've had; it's slightly tart and not overwhelmingly sweet nor artificial. The rib eye was cooked rare (just like ordered). The larb chicken salad was spicy, flavorful, and delicious. If every salad tasted like the larb chicken salad, I'd be the healthiest person. The noodle on the pad Thai was cooked just right. We got the banana bomb, ice cream (both not pictured), and coconut pandan pudding for dessert The desserts were delicious and not overly sweet. The only thing that we were a little concerned about was the price to portion ratio. It's kinda expensive for the amount of food we paid for. Other than that, everything was good.

There are a good amount of very good Thai places in Queens, especially around the Elmhurst area. But when it comes to Manhattan and Brooklyn, the pickings of excellent Thai restaurants is more slim pickings and most run in the ranks of good to acceptable, mostly because they Americanize the ingredients or tame down the spice to almost non existence when there should be at least some kind of kick to certain dishes. It is especially hard to find a top tier Thai restaurant around the Bensonhurst, Sunset Park, Bay Ridge area. Arom Dee Thai that recently opened up at the edge of Bay Ridge might be able to change all that with dishes that reminds my tastes buds of what I was able to get during my multiple travels in Thailand over the years. My group of 5 ordered way too many dishes to write here without this review being more long winded as it already is so I would just write about a few dishes worth mentioning for various reasons. Just note that the other dishes in my photos are pretty good to excellent for the most part. Starting with the Thai Ice tea. I was pleasantly surprised to be asked how sweet I want the drink to be. I asked for mildly sweet and that was what I got. For me, this is the first Thai restaurant that let me customize my tea drink. Sometimes I find some places make theirs too sweet for my taste and it is nice to have some say in it. If there is any dish I would recommend to get if you have to chose one dish from the ones I've tried so far, it would be the Khao Soi. It is among my favorite dish from Northern Thailand, and it is surprisingly hard to find a very good version that would stand up to my memories of the dish. I came across a few that were competent and a few that are just not how a Khao Soi should be, especially with the texture of the noodles. But here, it is almost as close as I could get so far without buying a plane ticket to Chiang Mai to scratch my Khao Soi itch. Coconut creamy flavored curry broth with firm noodles and fork tender chicken drumstick and a contrasting fried noodles on top, I could eat this all day. We were told that this dish was popular enough with the other patrons that on certain days it might be sold out as it takes hours to prepare the broth. The Pad Thai was slightly on the sweeter side for 2 out of 5 of us but that is probably just a matter of preference. Just wanted to make sure some people are aware of that. Otherwise, it is a very good version of pad Thai with good contrasting textures. The Pad Gra Prow, we expected it to be more of the familiar version with spicy minced meat mixed with a ton of Thai Basil topped with a runny egg yolk from a duck or chicken which is the version we are more familiar with. Here there was no egg and the meat was not minced but we still loved the dish. So much flavor with a small kick from the peppers. It is just a different version of the dish that is just as good. Talking about food with a kick, a table across from us mentioned that her dish was too spicy for her. The owners took it back and said they would see what they could do. Not sure what they did but the rest of the meal the lady was happily eating with a smile. The desert menu is on the more limited side with only 4 items to choose from but the owners said that they were working to see if they could add more items to that part of the menu. We went on mother's day so they gave us a free desert of some kind if coconut sweet in tin cups and they were amazing. It was also not on the menu but we were told that this might potentially make it to the menu in the future as they were testing it out that night. If you want to which one I'm taking about, look for the dessert with the purple flowers in my photos. After this meal, I could say for sure I would be back to try out other dishes, and probably to get more of that Khoa Soi. I have been eyeing a few of the whole fish menu items but could not fit it into this meal without over stuffing ourselves so we have that to look forward to. Till next time and welcome to the neighborhood.

Came here for dinner on July 4th. Staff is super friendly and welcoming. The portions are ginormous so come hungry. My table shared the NY appetizer platter. It came with 2 chicken satays, chive pancakes, spring rolls, friend tofus and maybe couple more items. It also came with a variety of sauces. If you want to try a little bit of all their appetizers, this is a good choice. We also shared the papaya salad. It was a tad bit in the sweeter spice. I wish there was a bit of spice as well. Still refreshing and crunchy. I asked the waiter his recommended dish. He recommended the pad see eew since the noodles are made fresh in the morning. I opted for this and it was really good. Noodles were chewy and great texture. The flavor of pad see eew was ok. Ended the meal with the mango sticky rice. The portion is small but was tasty since mangos are in season. They seem to be one of the more authentic Thai spots in bay ridge at the moment. There was a ton of items on their menu. Would come back next time to try some other dishes!

Went during lunch so were able to get the lunch special, which in my opinion was a really great deal. You get choice of an entree, veggie spring roll, and salad for $15.95 and the portions for the entree are full size. The service was amazing, they were super attentive at every moment, noticing when water refill was needed or an empty plate needed to be taken away immediately. We ordered the shrimp pad kee mao and the basil shrimp fried rice. The items were marked as spicy on the menu but it really wasn't at all (our spice level is very high). However the waitress noticed that we were adding hot sauce and gave the suggestion that next time if we specify our spice level they can just prepare it to be more spicy, which was very thoughtful of her to even notice and suggest. The shrimp was very tender and flavored well. I loved both items but preferred my pad kee mao. We had no leftovers, which speaks for how good the dishes were. This is the best Thai I've had in Brooklyn so far, looking forward to another round soon

My fiancé and I had the pleasure of grabbing lunch here last week, and it was such a lovely and enjoyable time! Freshly opened a month back, it serves beautiful interior, fabulous food, and great and caring service. They have wonderful lunch specials from 11-3 giving you a vast variety of options to choose from, along with a salad and spring roll to start. Great prices, great vibes, and lovely workers, here at the start of 3rd Ave. We are currently back here now for an early dinner and can't wait to dig in!

Celebrated my kid's graduation at this restaurant on a week night, made a reservation and were seated promptly. The host and waitress were very friendly and made sure our water was always filled. We ordered a bunch of dishes to share and everything was delicious! The green curry was medium spicy and it had a good kick, for people with the hot genes would definitely appreciate it! For desserts, since we were celebrating, we got a few items to try, the mango sticky rice was a hit! Mochi and ice cream also hit the spot for us! Overall a solid restaurant, and we plan to come back soon to try other items and support local businesses!

Lunch in Brooklyn during in-between meetings of my professional duties of a Wednesday afternoon…read moresummons Thai cuisine. Pad Kee Mao (aka Drunken Noodles), chicken $15.00 Stir-fried flat rice noodle, bamboo shoots, garlic, basil, fresh chili, onion, carrot, string bean, bell pepper, long hot chili The flat rice noodle quantity was sufficient, but minimal and there were too much onion, insufficient string bean, two paucity pieces of carrot. I dislike bamboo shoot which is not a standard ingredient for this particular entrée. I think the bamboo shoot tainted this entrée. I am a traditionalist conservative which bean sprouts is a good substitute variation for bamboo shoot vegetable including string bean. This entrée is my favorite default and as a caveat, if any Thai restaurant or cafe do not offer on their menu I refuse entry to patronize. This entrée enticed my interest and embedded the lunch meal menu for the reasonable price. I personally despise and do not consume spicy hot foods, but occasionally consume mild or very mild in the smallest measurement of the Scoville scale which I specifically requested, but received medium hot spicy. The waitress forewarned me the intense heat level on the Scoville scale as Thai cultural spicy with two or more bird's eye chilies for a high level of spiciness. The spiciness of chili peppers were, in my opinion, medium spicy. Despite the intense medium heat spiciness, the stir-fried noodles lacked flavor with, tender chicken, minimal vegetables, and Thai basil in a bland taste. I wish I chosen shrimp as the protein. Pad Kee Mao sustained my hunger pangs and ate my fill. When eating Thai intense heat spicy foods, I visualize to think of the TV segment "Niall Horan & James Corden Take On Hot Wings" on "The Late Late Show with James Corden" in March, 2020. High heat spicy foods! Thai ice tea, large $3.00 This was a delight and neutralized the heat spiciness because it contains milk. It was served chilled in a large highball glass. Samyan is a Thai cafe located in Clinton Hill, Brooklyn, NYC and accessible via MTA NYC Transit C local train at Clinton-Washington subway station. This cafe is a independently owned and operated, thankfully. The waitress did check-in with me during my meal for attentive customer service. The atmospheric conditions were a simple small dine-in cafe. There were many paintings, portraits hanging on their walls of white subway tiles. Gold metallic metal chopsticks and fork are provided. If utensils are gold then the interior cafe should contain these "gaudy" feature extensive gold elements, including gilded moldings and furniture. Peony rose are very simply and made pretty table centerpiece decorations. Takeout menu and business cards are available for grabs. I did received my sales receipt. At the bottom of the sales receipt there is a suggested gratuity in intervals of 18%, 20% and 22% where customers do not have to perform math calculation. I paid $23.00 in cash as the waitress' informative knowledge of the ingredients and preparation of the heat level on the Scoville scale.

My partner was running late, and even though the place is clearly very popular right now, they still accommodated us with a table. The staff explained every unfamiliar dish we asked about, always with a smile. I usually avoid the standard NYC Thai restaurant lineup of pad thai + generic curry situations and look for places that feel more regional and authentic. The menu here had a bunch of dishes I didn't recognize, which immediately made me excited. They even have a spice guide though the icons don't necessarily mean increasing spice levels. As I understood it, different symbols represent different types of heat. Three chili emojis and three meteor emojis may be equally spicy, but they hit differently. They recommended not to order the pad krapow nuer, and honestly, fair enough. Instead, we got the chicken khao soi, which was far better than versions I've had elsewhere - deeply flavorful, spicy, rich with umami. My partner was crying. I, meanwhile, was at "this is perfect and I'm having a great time." One Huge chunk of chicken cooked exactly right. Mix everything thoroughly before eating. Then came the kua kling which arrived with another warning. That dish became my personal challenge to impress the server, and apparently I succeeded because now they've promised that next time they won't discourage me from ordering the nuer. They kept refilling cabbage and cucumber for us to cool down from the heat. The kua kling itself was incredible. That dry curry heat was everything. It builds slowly, then suddenly punches you in the face - but alongside all that spice is an insane amount of flavor. They also recommended to order a non-spicy side dish to have a balanced meal and spice level, but we skipped it because it would've been too much food. Honestly, this is the kind of place where going with at least four people is ideal so you can try more dishes and balance the spice levels. And if you're unsure what to order, trust the servers - their recommendations were spot on. Also: really great ciders and beers. We were really happy with both choices. Overall, even though it's far from the city for me, I'd absolutely go back.

Newsflash: Ugly Baby is back on its bullshit. Ugly Baby's…read moreconceit, if you can call it that, was that it was really, really spicy. Spicy food, in case you didn't know, connotes authenticity. Call it suffering for beauty, in a culinary wrapper. Ugly Baby took this S&M theater to its logical conclusion in all regards: tuck it in an inaccessible corner of South Brooklyn; use tiny chairs and brusquely inform diners they have an hour start to finish at their table. The more inconvenient it was, the better. I held my applause after my single visit to Ugly Baby, which closed amidst wails and lamentation last year from people who liked rough treatment. But something drew me back to this reincarnation, started by the same people. Maybe, I thought, they'd found a way to bring us that magnetic authenticity, and hold the ball gags and chain flails? The answer is no. I should have known from the name alone: another mysterious two-word phrase (both of whose words again end in -y) that sounds like it could be an overly literal translation of some ineffable Thai concept. I should have known when it opened in the same godforsaken corner of ... what is that? Gowanus? I should have known from the protracted negotiations for a suitable table that followed when my husband, mom and I arrived punctually for our 5:30 reservation and were primly informed we'd be squeezing onto a two top, then were refused an obviously empty three-top ("it's reserved"....oh you mean by a party of three with a reservation like us?), and then grudgingly seated at a four-top, half of which was literally in the kitchen. I should have known after being apprised that "you have one hour at the table." I should have known when there were no appetizers or desserts, and only two vegetarian entrees. This is the same thing as before. We're so back, baby. The mushroom curry, with its single fire emoj, was nowhere near the spiciest thing on the menu, but gosh was it still spicy. How do they make food with such complex flavors that's still hot enough to have emanated from the bowels of hell? It has to be one of the best curries I've had. It's a talent, special even, but it could easily coexist without Hungry Thirsty's other downsides. But I think all those inconveniences and discomforts are the point. They serve to reinforce the specialness of the special parts, counterintuitively increasing your mental investment in internally extolling Hungry Thirsty's virtues. They are to each element what spice is to food: it hurts, and you're proud that it hurts. It all adds up to the second coming of Ugly Baby, and why wouldn't it? Enough people liked being slapped around; maybe they felt like they deserved it. You know if that's you or not.

My first time here and it was a great experience. It is Valentine's Day and we left with a cute little gift from them, beautiful gesture. Definitely coming back :)

Chiangmai Diner is the most unique Thai restaurant I've encountered. My first experience was…read morethrough a Yelp Elite event where we were generously welcomed to a wide variety of items on the menu. I enjoyed the food and the event so much that I've returned and told others to go as well. What I like the most is that Chiangmai's expansive menu showcases aspects of Thai cuisine that you're probably not getting at your neighborhood spot. Many items are Northern Thai style dishes. I'd never had Khao Soi before coming here and I was blown away. The chiangmai sausage is also delicious. The roasted duck curry boasts deep flavor while also maintaining the crispiest duck skin. For appetizers, we started with the crispy salmon belly bites and the moo ping. Frying salmon is risky, but the fattiness of the belly keeps it from drying out. The moo ping is nicely grilled and served with a sweet sauce. You just can't go wrong ordering meat on a stick. As an entree, I tried the Gaeng Awm Nur, a soup-like beef dish served with a side of sticky rice. Our server had been really nice and welcoming, so I felt ok asking how I should eat my meal. She advised that I make a ball of some sticky rice with my hand, mash it a bit, and then dip it into the soup. Thai food achievement unlocked! Now I know what to do next time I'm served sticky rice. There's so much on the menu it can be hard to choose. This is encouragement to go with someone else who enjoys food so you can choose things to share! You won't be disappointed and in fact may find that your regular Thai spots could step up their game in comparison.
