Lemongrass Tom Yom Soup Thai Iced Tea Scallion Pancake

Ordered take out for lunch, Ordered spicy vegetable Lemongrass Tom Yom Soup, which I believe did not look like the soup or taste like it, Topu was fried which after adding yo broth become extremely soggy Thai Ice Tea was tea+cold Whole milk (which you can actually taste) Scallion pancake-oily and overcooked Very very sad take out and worst part it's not cheap.

This is not "mango Coconut Sticky Rice with Fresh Mango"

Food is horrible - not authentic and super bland. I ordered the mango sticky rice for dessert and got a lumpy coconut soup with hard unripe mango pieces inside. When I complained the waitress gave me a huge attitude and called the manager. The manager was no better, told me that this dish is authentic and I have to pay for it even if I don't like it - ridiculous. Stay far away from here!

What?!?!! I paid six dollars for a spoonful of sticky rice! I asked for sticky rice with mango and they literally gave me half of a mango and a dollop of sticky rice. I did not discover this until after I got home due to the weight of the container seeming to be legit. Do not order from here!

Thai Crispy Wing

Don't believe the negative reviews. I've been loyal to this place for years. It's one of the few reliable takeout spots in sheepshead bay. Flavors are right and so are the prices. I've moved away but still always order from here whenever I'm back in the area visiting. No matter what you order, just make sure to get the Crispy Wings as an app. The crispiest I've had and the sauce is a nice touch. The pad Thai is not too watery as some have noted in other reviews. Drunken noodle is also a favorite And would say the Massaman is my go to curry. All in all, the portions are generous, wait time is quick, meals are delicious, and it wont break the bank. Love this place.

Chicken Drunken Noodles

Decided to try this place out despite all the negative reviews. It was definitely a gamble but a friend of my boyfriends said it wasn't as bad as the reviews had put it. We ordered through UberEats and got a chicken pad Thai, chicken pad kee mao (drunken noodles), papaya salad, and Thai crispy chicken wings. Upon receiving our order, everything looked pretty good but I do have to say the chicken pad Thai was indeed on the watery side like some of the reviews had pointed out so that's something to keep in mind. It did get less watery as time went on but definitely saucier than how pad Thai is. The drunken noodles were actually really good and had good flavor to them with the right consistency! I liked the papaya salad as it was refreshing and a good size. The Thai spicy chicken wings were good but honestly tasted like any other Chinese takeout fried chicken. The only different was they provided a sweet and sour sauce but there was nothing Thai about this dish. Portions were big too and we were both stuffed at the end of our meal. Honestly would reorder from here if we ever crave Thai and want something nearby. Yes there are better Thai places but I don't think our experience was as terrible as the reviews had it.

We had the duck curry with lychee, papaya salad and shrimp pad Thai. The curry was yummy- roasted skin on duck sautéed with peppers and string beans in a yellow sweet curry and a genius addition of lychees! Too bad there were only 4! Lychees in the entire order and we found the veggies to be a bit sparse so the dish was swimming in albeit yummy sauce. The papaya salad was bland and had 2 tomato chunks- completely underwhelming it's cost of even $7. The pad Thai was heavily ladened with a soy, peanut coating that necessitates a side of white rice. I prefer mine much drier but if I had to have it wet, this would be a good option. Overall, a satisfactory meal but costly. Had we not ordered with a steep ubereats coupon (cuz we'd never use UE otherwise w their exorbitant fees), we would not be able to justify Thai Basil's prices.

Thai Crispy Calamari

Awesome Thai spot in the area! Despite the low reviews, I took a chance to order from them because I never had a problem with their food before covid. I ordered crispy calamari, beef pad Thai, and beef drunken noodles and this was more than enough for 2 people. The noodle dishes was decently big and filling. The drunken noodles was packed with flavor. The calamari was very crispy. The pad Thai did have some sauce on it but the flavor was there; it's really not bad compared to other places. I personally isn't a fan of any pad Thai because of the stickiness and dryness but I enjoyed their pad Thai. Highly recommend these three dishes from Thai basil. Food- 5/5 Price- 5/5 Service- 5/5

I ordered the green curry with beef from the lunch menu. The curry is very watery but tasted really delicious. The beef with boiled texture and lots of peppers were in the sauce. It came with white rice and I loved it. The crispy tofu add on was good if you like tofu! The sweet peanut sauce went perfectly with the fluffy tofu. The beef pad see eww was one of the best I've ever had. From the texture of the noodles, to the sauce, to the veggies and beef. It's a must have here! Tom yum soup came in a huge tower and was perfect to share. We ever had some leftovers. Good amount of shrimp and veggies inside. Quick and attentive service! And the worker's little son helped her bring the check for fun. It was adorable

Lunch in Brooklyn during in-between meetings of my professional duties of a Wednesday afternoon…read moresummons Thai cuisine. Pad Kee Mao (aka Drunken Noodles), chicken $15.00 Stir-fried flat rice noodle, bamboo shoots, garlic, basil, fresh chili, onion, carrot, string bean, bell pepper, long hot chili The flat rice noodle quantity was sufficient, but minimal and there were too much onion, insufficient string bean, two paucity pieces of carrot. I dislike bamboo shoot which is not a standard ingredient for this particular entrée. I think the bamboo shoot tainted this entrée. I am a traditionalist conservative which bean sprouts is a good substitute variation for bamboo shoot vegetable including string bean. This entrée is my favorite default and as a caveat, if any Thai restaurant or cafe do not offer on their menu I refuse entry to patronize. This entrée enticed my interest and embedded the lunch meal menu for the reasonable price. I personally despise and do not consume spicy hot foods, but occasionally consume mild or very mild in the smallest measurement of the Scoville scale which I specifically requested, but received medium hot spicy. The waitress forewarned me the intense heat level on the Scoville scale as Thai cultural spicy with two or more bird's eye chilies for a high level of spiciness. The spiciness of chili peppers were, in my opinion, medium spicy. Despite the intense medium heat spiciness, the stir-fried noodles lacked flavor with, tender chicken, minimal vegetables, and Thai basil in a bland taste. I wish I chosen shrimp as the protein. Pad Kee Mao sustained my hunger pangs and ate my fill. When eating Thai intense heat spicy foods, I visualize to think of the TV segment "Niall Horan & James Corden Take On Hot Wings" on "The Late Late Show with James Corden" in March, 2020. High heat spicy foods! Thai ice tea, large $3.00 This was a delight and neutralized the heat spiciness because it contains milk. It was served chilled in a large highball glass. Samyan is a Thai cafe located in Clinton Hill, Brooklyn, NYC and accessible via MTA NYC Transit C local train at Clinton-Washington subway station. This cafe is a independently owned and operated, thankfully. The waitress did check-in with me during my meal for attentive customer service. The atmospheric conditions were a simple small dine-in cafe. There were many paintings, portraits hanging on their walls of white subway tiles. Gold metallic metal chopsticks and fork are provided. If utensils are gold then the interior cafe should contain these "gaudy" feature extensive gold elements, including gilded moldings and furniture. Peony rose are very simply and made pretty table centerpiece decorations. Takeout menu and business cards are available for grabs. I did received my sales receipt. At the bottom of the sales receipt there is a suggested gratuity in intervals of 18%, 20% and 22% where customers do not have to perform math calculation. I paid $23.00 in cash as the waitress' informative knowledge of the ingredients and preparation of the heat level on the Scoville scale.

He got the Rum Punch and I got the Zombie and both were good. Since we already knew we liked the prior restaurant and it was hard for us to get back to this location, we went with items that we usually don't order - Duck Pad Thai and Salmon Curry. Both was delicious, we loved the flavors of both dishes.

Newsflash: Ugly Baby is back on its bullshit. Ugly Baby's…read moreconceit, if you can call it that, was that it was really, really spicy. Spicy food, in case you didn't know, connotes authenticity. Call it suffering for beauty, in a culinary wrapper. Ugly Baby took this S&M theater to its logical conclusion in all regards: tuck it in an inaccessible corner of South Brooklyn; use tiny chairs and brusquely inform diners they have an hour start to finish at their table. The more inconvenient it was, the better. I held my applause after my single visit to Ugly Baby, which closed amidst wails and lamentation last year from people who liked rough treatment. But something drew me back to this reincarnation, started by the same people. Maybe, I thought, they'd found a way to bring us that magnetic authenticity, and hold the ball gags and chain flails? The answer is no. I should have known from the name alone: another mysterious two-word phrase (both of whose words again end in -y) that sounds like it could be an overly literal translation of some ineffable Thai concept. I should have known when it opened in the same godforsaken corner of ... what is that? Gowanus? I should have known from the protracted negotiations for a suitable table that followed when my husband, mom and I arrived punctually for our 5:30 reservation and were primly informed we'd be squeezing onto a two top, then were refused an obviously empty three-top ("it's reserved"....oh you mean by a party of three with a reservation like us?), and then grudgingly seated at a four-top, half of which was literally in the kitchen. I should have known after being apprised that "you have one hour at the table." I should have known when there were no appetizers or desserts, and only two vegetarian entrees. This is the same thing as before. We're so back, baby. The mushroom curry, with its single fire emoj, was nowhere near the spiciest thing on the menu, but gosh was it still spicy. How do they make food with such complex flavors that's still hot enough to have emanated from the bowels of hell? It has to be one of the best curries I've had. It's a talent, special even, but it could easily coexist without Hungry Thirsty's other downsides. But I think all those inconveniences and discomforts are the point. They serve to reinforce the specialness of the special parts, counterintuitively increasing your mental investment in internally extolling Hungry Thirsty's virtues. They are to each element what spice is to food: it hurts, and you're proud that it hurts. It all adds up to the second coming of Ugly Baby, and why wouldn't it? Enough people liked being slapped around; maybe they felt like they deserved it. You know if that's you or not.

I enjoyed the food and the event so much that I've returned and told others to go as well. What I like the most is that Chiangmai's expansive menu showcases aspects of Thai cuisine that you're probably not getting at your neighborhood spot. Many items are Northern Thai style dishes. I'd never had Khao Soi before coming here and I was blown away. The chiangmai sausage is also delicious. The roasted duck curry boasts deep flavor while also maintaining the crispiest duck skin. For appetizers, we started with the crispy salmon belly bites and the moo ping. Frying salmon is risky, but the fattiness of the belly keeps it from drying out. The moo ping is nicely grilled and served with a sweet sauce. You just can't go wrong ordering meat on a stick. As an entree, I tried the Gaeng Awm Nur, a soup-like beef dish served with a side of sticky rice. Our server had been really nice and welcoming, so I felt ok asking how I should eat my meal. She advised that I make a ball of some sticky rice with my hand, mash it a bit, and then dip it into the soup. Thai food achievement unlocked! Now I know what to do next time I'm served sticky rice. There's so much on the menu it can be hard to choose. This is encouragement to go with someone else who enjoys food so you can choose things to share! You won't be disappointed and in fact may find that your regular Thai spots could step up their game in comparison.
