Updated review.. I was in the mood for Wonton soup on this frigid day. Spring Garden offers Special Combination meals all day. Which is great because most Chinese restaurants offer Lunch Specials until 3pm. SG's combination meals come with an egg roll and rice. The choices are plentiful from Roast pork with garlic sauce to Chicken lo Mein. The prices are reasonable from $10.95. If you don't want combination meals as I did not today, the other options are also reasonably priced like a pint of Veggie Lo Mein cost @$6. I ordered this today and it was quite delicious and packed with vegetable. I'm glad to see that SG had stepped up its game since my last review, they gained another star. Tried this place last night for the first time as our usual place in Bay. Ridge was so busy they would not excepting any more orders at the time. One of the best Chinese takeout for both General Tso chicken and beef and broccoli! They use big sized chunks of chicken in their general tso, where others may often use more batter than chicken. Their pork fried rice with egg is also extremely delicious as well with a generous helping of pork pieces! They're generally pretty quick with their orders too which is a plus! I have been on a long, embittered quest to find edible Chinese food in Bensonhurst became an impossible dream after COVID. Gone are the days of free delivery by a family member of the restaurant. Now, if you want it, it's probably arriving by third party delivery service. Spring Garden is in Bay Ridge. Any adjacent neighborhood can get the food by 3rd party delivery and it will arrive in spectacular condition. If you live in their delivery range, which must be tiny, then you can order by phone or their website. But for us unfortunadoes outside the good food zone, we're gonna pay up to an extra 50% or an extra Benjamin, whichever hurts less. Yet we end up paying for it when we can scrape up the funds because Spring Garden is true to its name. They follow special requests, cook consistently well, and aren't afraid to use a large amount of clean, fresh vegetables. Many places try to make up for mediocre food by adding piles of extra meat. Ugh. These folk don't give you too much meat; they give you the right blend of vegetables, meat, and sauce to make a perfect dish. I tend to order the same thing every time because its my ultimate stir-fry. Spouse loves their Mu Shu Chicken. Small but yummy Spring rolls, but they also offer egg rolls for those who want them. I ordered: Sesame chicken General tsos chicken The two tasted very similar; one was spicy and the other had some sesame. Beef with broccoli Chicken with broccoli These two also tasted the same, but they were both good! Shrimp with lobster sauce I didn't get to have any so I'm not sure. I ordered takeout for my boyfriend and I last night. Delivery was timely and food was okay - it was very average. The cheese wontons were okay...these are typically my favorite. There was way too much of the fried dough. The seaweed salad was pretty good. I could have done without the red pepper flakes, though. I had the chicken pad thai (with white meat). At first it had this underlying fish taste...like the oil it was cooked in cooked a million fish previously? It wasn't THAT noticeable, but I noticed it. There was a ton of delicious chicken, which was a plus. The sauce didn't really look like "typical" pad thai sauce, but it was alright. Next time, I will try their regular chinese dishes and hold off on the pad thai. Will update then. read more

Best Chinese Food restaurant in Bay Ridge, maybe even Brooklyn. Their food is always so fresh and tastes wonderful. For those of you who are Hispanic, they also have tostones! Yum yum yum! This review is long overdue. Spring Garden is my number one choice of Chinese food takeout. The service is quick and the food is delicious . They give a good amount for the price.The woman who works there gets to know her customers and sometime she'll even throw in a free soda. There are two small tables & a counter to eat on but really this place is awesome for its takeout. Also around lunchtime you can get a cheaper combo. Surprisingly good. I don't do, what I like to call, "$5 spots". Usually bc food isn't fresh and I'm always questioning the chicken. We mostly order wings and fried rice, which is exceptionally good. The Beef Chow Fun was good. Nice noodles. The eggroll was terrible, not enough filling. Over cooked on the outside, the shell seemed to be too thick and appeared to be underdone on the inside- weird. ever since i was a wee boi ive been to this restaurant. however, i live in queens so therefore in order to get there i must wake up at 2 am to start my jog to eat my daily spring rolls. Not good. I'm sorry. Hate writing poor reviews. But the food was really really poor. A hint I seemed to ignore was that they offered all types of asian food (chinese, Japanese, thai), and I am sure it is all horrible based on the items I had - most places that do this don't usually do anything good at all. We had the vegetable fried rice, scallion pancakes, Kung Pao chicken, and cold sesame noodles. Scallion pancakes were the only positive note - crispy and as they should be. As for the King Pao, this was near inedible. I am not sure the chicken was chicken and don't mean to be cliche or funny by saying that - it was soft and strange textured to the point where we were suspicious and just ate some some of the vegetables. My wife just asked me about my face of disgust as I write this and I reminded her I was writing this review - she quickly understood. The fried rice was just yellow disappointing fried rice - edible but not good. And finally the cold sesame noodles - would think you could not mess that up but they did - it was basically prepackaged noodles covered in a very thin peanut flavored sauce. I have made cold sesame noodles before and it is very easy and there's no reason it should be covered in a thin, runny sauce. Terrible. I knew I was taking a risk with this place with few reviews but we got home late and my spot (Grand Szcechuan House) was closed and we were hungry. was told to come by in 10 minutes. i gave them 15 minutes just to find out they forgot my order. had to wait there 10 minutes while they rushed-prepared my general tsou's chicken. instead of being tender and crispy, it was mushy and chewy, not even sure if it was chicken as it was saturated in the foul tasting sugary syrupy sauce. felt sick to my stomach for an entire day after eating it. if u cant get general tsou's right than thats a red flag. never again. read more
